Xie Shuci Transmigrated into an Unnamed Minor Villain in the Book

In the novel, on the path of growth of Protagonist Shou, he only managed to step on him before being chopped off by his knife.

Xie Shuci admonished himself, “Let’s cherish life and stay away from the protagonist Shou!”

So the next day, he left that troubled place.

*

On the road, Xie Shuci found a badly injured young boy. Carrying a pocket full of miraculous medicines, he casually fed one to the boy.

However, the medicine, although effective, also had side effects.

When the boy woke up, not only did he lose his cultivation, but he also became deaf, mute, and blind.

Xie Shuci, “…”

So, there was another little companion beside him.

——

After transmigrating into the book, Xie Shuci had been living a decent life.

Despite having a little companion, the little companion barely had any presence.

The little companion couldn’t speak or see, and Xie Shuci never avoided him while bathing or changing clothes.

Sometimes, he even performed a dance in a blissful manner while being naked in front of him.

This kind of life continued for several months.

Until one day someone told him that the little brat beside him was originally named Xiao Xun.

That’s it, the protagonist Shou who chopped him up with a knife—Xiao Xun!

Xie Shuci, “…”

Wah-, what a joke.

That night, while everyone was asleep, Xie Shuci packed his bags and prepared to run away.

What? He has no conscience?

This was the protagonist Shou, who had severe psychological issues and an unpredictable personality! If Xie Shuci made him unhappy, his life would be forfeit! Anyway, whoever wanted to take responsibility could take it!

But just as Xie Shuci sneaked to the door, his body was trapped in place by an invisible force.

He stiffly turned his head and saw the little companion, who usually seemed weak and afraid to sleep alone, sitting by the bed. With a slight curl of his finger, Xie Shuci involuntarily walked step by step toward him.

“Xie Shuci, leaving me alone, where do you think you’re going?”

The little companion leaned against the bed railing, his face pale, and his gaze sinister.

Sinister gaze…
Yes, his gaze was sinister.

This bastard, he wasn’t blind at all!

TLDR: didn't expect to like it so much, characters aren't perfect but they're human they grow, novel's theme should be sacrifice with all the f*cking tragic deaths in it

sooo I thought it was going to be a little silly story with goofy misunderstandings, maybe some dog blood but nothing too deep... well, I was wrong lol. I f*cking bawled my eyes out and I had to read it in one setting so I finished it at 5am and I don't regret anything

the theme of death is prevalent in multiple forms... more>> too - as a relief, as a way to repent or to get revenge, as a last resort or the start of something bigger. it's everywhere and you can't escape it, so why not make the best of it?

i also really liked the questioning around reincarnation: are you really the same person if you have different memories and experience?

Spoiler

especially since it wasn't the same answer for MC and ML at the start and it was also the same at the end, but they exchanged their answers lol

it would have been really bittersweet if it wasn't a happy ending and if they both didn't keep their memories in some ways... but I guess the author was like, alright no more (spiritual) torture for you, you can put both be happy now lol

[collapse]

if you wanna know how it ends...

Spoiler

basically, ML become the bearer of the reincarnation book so he is effectively immortal (no memory trouble lol) but he still has trouble with his mortal body so he uses a really f*cking painful way to keep it until MC makes him fuse with the chain piercing his skin and tada! new cool body that doesn't keep bleeding!!

as for MC, he dies bim badaboum and once ML sacrifices himself, since his sacrifice equals 6 sacrifices (bc he's a son of heaven) he has control of the book of reincarnation and the first name he writes on it is mc's~~~ so MC grows up again but still feeling like a lot of memories are missing until he meets ml, the birds dance and give him the bell containing all his memories so no memory dilemma anymore :F

btw, it may bc I read the last chapters real fast but I remember bi xie saying the first name on the reincarnation book will determine its future but this part is really fuzzy and I don't even if mc/ML knows about it... if anyone can tell me, it would be great bc it's now nearly 6am and I have to sleep hahaha...

[collapse]

i have to say, I wasn't all that keen on the MC at the start since he felt a bit too naive and needlessly arrogant to me, but I decided to continue reading to see the identity reveal. but man, he really grew as a character. it may be bc of the many (heartbreaking) deaths in the story, but you can slowly feel him growing and I guess it made me like him more by the end of the story haha

Spoiler

I feel like it especially starting with the whole a dong's situation which made him realize his helplessness and how weak he was. he still acted arrogant in front of people afterwards but it wasn't the same - and I could really feel it when they got out of the tomb in the secret realm and he f*cking died after being pierced by 10 thousand swords to get the mirror to go back in time (which is honestly a huge thing for him who's so afraid of pain, I really felt the struggle man) and he bawled in ml's arms about how in pain he was but when he saw other people arriving je was like 'nope, didn't hurt at all!' but that was too late lmao

and even luo xinyu and xiao lian sees how his gaze has changed between their meeting (he was still full of hope) to the last one before the final battle (he knew he was going to die)

[collapse]

like, he still keeps a bit of his naivety but he doesn't act as s*upid as before. tbh it feels like like it only comes back when he doesn't want to face reality or he really needs hope - which I needed the most reading this and seeing all those poor likeable people die lmao

he also didn't become strong mentally suddenly, he still has a lot of fears but he manages to beat some of them (snakes and even death but not ghosts lmao), and even if he's scared he starts to act - something he couldn't have done before

as for his strong learning ability, considering what we learn later on, I feel like it's f*cking earned lol

also damn that identity reveal scene, didn't think it would get so emotional? I mean, it was to be expected since he was so scared of xiao xun but it still hit me in the feels lol

i also expected it to be really r*pey and lead to some major drama like in most novels, but it was surprisingly less violent than I thought and the only violence that was there was bc of the circumstances of the identity reveal (not just bc someone told him his name, it's way more harsh) and hurt people hurt people but not too much bc they love each other at the end :c

Spoiler

(still violent bc of how hysterical MC was since he literally felt the intense killing intent ml's dao heart had towards him when he just tried to feel his pain bc he thought the only problem ML had was his soul being separated with his body LOL

i'd honestly be traumatised too after feeling all that killing intent, ESPECIALLY since his whole body was already sore bc it was just after their first time! like!!!! author!!!!!! you know just how to hit me in the feels QAQ

[collapse]

and I especially like the fact that after the identity reveal, there was no needless dog blood but things weren't all that fine. like, the man was so terrified just hearing xiao xun's name, of course he wouldn't be able to completely accept the new identity! but he knows he loves him so at the end their bouts of tension are easily resolved - really, they're both easily coaxable lololol

so yeah, the main characters aren't perfect but they're not irredeemable and that's okay. sometimes people are forced by their circumstances, but that doesn't everything they've done is pointless or they should easily give up

really, I feel like that's one of the least toxic relationships i've read about lmao

i also LOVE some of the secondary characters, they're humans with problems, big or small, and there's no right way or wrong way, there's just a way and consequences you have to live with after

Spoiler

from the luo sisters struggling with different diseases to the ban xia brothers, members of the clan who got f*cking exterminated and luck stolen with no possibility of reincarnation but they managed to break through it - even if banxia xi had to give up his soul for that and f*ck, he was so young... and I can't even fault the other characters for not trying to stop him bc what he lived through was so horrible he inadvertently caused a catastrophe and couldn't live with himself so really, death meant relief for him

and let's not forget tang xiaoxia who ended up killing her own clan against her will, and it all started bc of a small crush and a misunderstanding who f*cking snowball into some real dog blood sh*t but instead of a happy ending, they just got the disparition of a clan. at least thanks to banxia yin, she stayed 'alive' long enough to get a resolution, even if it wasn't a happy one :c

[collapse]

really, I don't think i'll be forgetting them soon :") and just for that, I don't regret giving this novel 5 stars even if it wasn't perfect

also, bonus points for 'revealing' the original word of MC and the book talking about ML AND bonus points for a MC who doesn't spend the majority of chapters denying his feelings ANNND bonus points for MC not stubbornly insisting ML should be with the original gong after the identity reveal!!!

Spoiler

well he made some comments but it was just questions about if ML really had never had feelings for someone else and if he thought the original ML was attractive but the questions just got thrown back to him lol

[collapse]

finally, I also like that the origin of his 'transmigration' was logically explained and not just left out. it really feels like the author put a lot of thoughts in the story, and you can see some clues scattered around that feel innocuous but are actually relevant

so yeah, I liked this novel lol <<less

I love this novel so much. I expected this would be just a light read but I was so wrong. I was bawling while reading this.

The MC and ML are likeable, charming and perfect for each other. I know some people find the MC's character to be annoying. He is naive, childish, a bit s*upid and like to brag, but he is also kind hearted and positive. In other time, I also like a smart, capable and perfect MC, but this is a perfect MC for this novel with all... more>> his imperfections.

I also love the supporting characters. I feel some of them need their own book with their own story.

I would like to reread it again when the translation is finished. Highly recommended. <<less

I will preface this by saying that I was under the assumption this novel would be another light-hearted, fun transmigration novel filled with the occasional serious topic veiled by comedy and budding romance.

I was very wrong.

At first, the novel lures you into thinking this, but the first inkling that something isn't quite right occurs a few chapters in. From that point on, darker undertones surface throughout the arcs, sandwiched between relationship-building and character development. You think everything is going well, but then it isn't. You think someone might get their... more>> happy ending, but then it's wrenched away and all that's left is despair. Heck, the last main arc pretty much disposed of all comedy and left me struggling to read through my tears. I swear, any novel with a transmigrator!MC and a regressor!ML is always filled with hidden knives.

The different arcs were occasionally tied together and often focussed on the lives of other characters. On their stories and where everything went wrong. The themes were rather heavy at times. They started off wacky and light-hearted for a bit and then slowly but frequently dipped into darker, more depressing territory. Throughout the novel, we watch characters learn loneliness and the cruelty of the world-- of gaining everything and then losing everything. If I had to pick, I'd say that the primary themes would be love and sacrifice, along with what people would be willing to give up for another. Of giving more than their life, and more than death.

This novel tricks you. The MC is an unreliable narrator, and he leads you around thinking you understand something while the reality is completely different. He even made me question a fact laid out at the very beginning of the novel for over one hundred chapters just because he was so confused by it.

The plot is gritty and more 'realistic'. By that, I mean that although he starts off like a protagonist, with the attitude of a protagonist, receiving the treasures of a protagonist, and slowly growing in power via gold fingers like a protagonist, he also wasn't like one at the same time. When he tried with all he had, he could never save anyone. Over an over again, he tried and failed. He wasn't in the modern world. And he definitely had no 'protagonist halo' above his head. A weakling from the modern world was no match for a person who'd spent decades in the cutthroat cultivation world. Things weren't magically fixed or solved just because the MC was the main character, and he learned that a lot of the time, even the best efforts are useless. Sometimes, things are inevitable. He had to learn that the world he'd transmigrated into was unyielding. It wouldn't allow anything to go against it, to the point that many things happened for a reason and MC started to become suspicious of even his own transmigration and existence itself (rightfully so!). He wondered whose plan he was following and what their intentions were.

I expected at least the big reveal of ML being the 'protagonist shou' to be much more comedic and light, but the author didn't go that route. It was dark and sad and MC felt betrayed and could hardly breathe. He struggled a lot internally and wanted to delude himself into thinking it was a lie until all of the evidence was stacked and collapsed right in front of him. He was trapped and felt like his only support in this new world was now a monster out to get him. That he was doomed and all of his actions until this point had been in vain. ML had been his sole pillar until this point, and finding out that this pillar was rotten crushed him.

There is a great amount of character development. Initially, he was a goofy, friendly young man who tried to maintain his face when possible and threw it to the ground and ran when not. It was gradual, but there's a scene where they compare MC at the beginning of the novel to him about three quarters of the way through, and then again around the end, and he'd clearly grown. Strength-wise, in courage, and other areas. He'd also lost some of what made him who he was. You could say that the harsh reality of the world wore him down a bit. He maintained a smidgeon of hope throughout, but at one point, he lost even that.

The ML's growth was slower, but also clear. He followed MC since the beginning and learned that some people were better alive even at the risk of his own health. He learned to love and went near mad because of it. ML's matryoshka of a backstory was sad, but how it shaped him was interesting in a good way. He was willing to use anything and anyone to defy fate and grant his wish, even if the person he ended up harming was himself. I liked his view on reincarnation. Although depressing, it was fresh and intriguing. I also liked how those views changed when it actually came to MC's death. How he'd been stuck in his beliefs right up until the moment it mattered.

Pretty much only the very beginning of the novel, some chapters here and there, and the final few extra chapters are what you'd expect out of you normal xianxia transmigration novel. This novel is misfortune and despair in disguise. I can only feel pity for every character in this world.

Are the arcs long? Yes.

Is it painful to read? Also yes.

But I really enjoyed reading this. I wish I could read it again anew, not knowing what happens next.

I definitely recommend that others read this. I hope you enjoy the suffering as much as I did. <<less

I enjoyed the story. Mostly because the MC is very likable and charming for my taste. His character totally balances the brooding, maniacal, blood thirsty element of the ML.

I would like to read it again once fully translated. Thank you. 😉

I love this book so much. It made me cry rivers. It made me doubt the world. It MADE ME QUESTION LIFE. It also gave me hope.

I won't say much. But it worth my tears and the blue eye bag I got.

Life is never fair. Some rules is meant to be broken, sometimes fate and destiny can be changed, but it don't come free and easy.

I FULLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

I enjoyed it!! It took me days to read, each chapter is pretty hefty, full of plot and very fun!

I really really like this novel, only if you have time and isn't looking for instant gratification though. This is like, prolonged yearning and flirting and you really have to be patient with them. It's sweet torture both in plot and progression, but the journey is sooo sweet. One of the sweetest dynamic I've read and it's consistent throughout the novel.

The start wasn’t bad and fairly interesting but the MC bugs me a lot. I was warned by the other reviewers that MC was a bit annoying but usually most fantasy novels require you to throw your brain away anyway.. But MC is alot more annoying than I expected. A total idiot and brags with nothing to back it up except ML even knowing he’s blind and younger than him. (He didn’t know ML identity yet) he also dumbly gives away all his rare medicine to nps and random... more>> people even thought if he was a bit smarter, could of traded his medicine for a golden core or something to cure the ML disabilities despite yapping about how he was gonna cure him. I feel like he doesn’t treat ML as a good friend. He often gets lost and splits up with him or easily leaves him to do something else. Kind of a clueless idiot, maybe you find that cute but it gets repetitive and annoying to read. <<less

Decided to drop it at chapter 32...

I can't. It's enough. Can't stand it anymore...

The MC is freaking annoying! I'm sorry to those who find his character "charming" but I definitely don't find him as one.

He's naive, an overhinker, and obviously suffering from "chuuni" syndrome (and is obviously well-aware of it, thanks to the author constantly emphasizing it every time he makes s*upid decisions like a suicidal blockhead but still not doing something about it). He has more other characteristics I wouldn't want for a main character. Heck, I even initially... more>> thought that he'd be like Xie Lian but I couldn't call him a cinnamon bun because there's nothing admirable about him; I just feel pure annoyance and suffocating frustration whenever he opens his mouth.

Do you know those loud male friends of main protagonists in a story whose main purpose is to show the contrast and the IQ gap between your typical likeable MC and a mere side character? Well, his character setting falls under that category.

I tried to stay and persevere because I wanted to at least find a likeable side of him but the author's writing has successfully prevented me from doing so. Plus, for some weird reason, the author decided to mash up the POV of the main protagonists in a same scene, not really bothering to build a sense of suspense or room for the readers to guess and make things a little 'unpredictable'. AND, there's so many fillery dialogues. Like I'm not kidding! Everytime I encounter one, I roll my eyes; only making me hate the MC more because he only displays his childishness. In paid subscription sites, damn, I'd definitely ask for a refund if this kind of quality is what I'm getting after paying and unlocking each chapters to read

You see, I'm up for character development and growth but the author's writing is just bad. You don't know how much I keep referencing the reviews for assurance that the MC will get better but how can I do that if I couldn't tolerate the writing style itself? It feels so amateurish, if I'm gonna be blunt. Not my mug of coffee. I'm not even gonna complain about the author giving him a golden finger

So I gave up. Not rating this because I failed to reach at least half the total chapters. What a waste of time...

But if I were to give this a rating, I'd give the author a 2 star rating out of 5, overall story progression aside.

I didn't like it one bit. <<less

I'm disappointed with the MC. Usually I go for dark storylines with cunning protagonists and perhaps this is why the MC sets me off a lot of times. Ykw I have no prejudice against naive, cute, happy go lucky MCs but this one ticked me off. Dude was previously and presently an adult but no. He never thinks about the consequences of his actions which could have prevented quite a no. Of mishaps in the novel.

And I find it ridiculous at the fact that he's suddenly become quite a bigshot/he... more>> involuntarily achieved a golden finger. Ykw it doesn't matter. It could be the butterfly effect or something to do w/ the protagonist halo.

Furthermore, the amount of exaggerated bickering/dialogues is ridiculous. Ofc MC is not a rational person and I don't expect him to be one. But after skimming through a lot of the said dialogues, I'm starting to feel annoyed. Plus everything seems suddenly so easy for the MC whenever something happens.

Now coming to the other players, I love the side characters and the ML.9/10.

Everything else including the story would have been perfect if not for the mc's lack of self awareness/using even a bit of his brain. <<less

Because of the reviews I wanted to like this sooooo bad. I tried hard to get through the beginning but god do I find the MC annoying. Just sooooo much yapping and never doing anything. Not to mention just the awful amount of filler and non important dialogue especially the EXTREMELY repetitive inner monologues. The author always makes sure to remind us that the original MC was an idiot he did this and that and now our MC has to take responsibility for it all blah blah blah. Maybe this... more>> novel ain't that bad to others but man Im going to drop it. Maybe I'll give it another chance some other day if I have the patience for it but it's a no for me <<less

The story or some arcs sometimes felt to be very lengthy and stretchy which was always a negative point in my view. However I tolerated it this time but what I couldn’t stomach was through out the story was MC. I understand what was the author tried to do with the MC character (who was wimpy, braggy, scaredy-cat yet to save people he will definitely do his best) but it totally failed for me because sometimes it felt like he was doing it just to satisfy his heroism dreams, nonetheless... more>> he still did his best. But I still couldn’t bring myself to like this type of MC especially his s*upidity behaviour and ways of doing things. <<less

Just started on it, so far the story is good.

I rated four stars because I am a little disappointed Shuci is not the gong, as he has many moments where it seems like he would be.

The story has good progression as well. I do find certain events are dragging to much. It doesn't make any sense for the competition to come for different sects all over, then there's a barrier stopping everyone from leaving. At this point in the novel things start to drag a bit.

I am still reading it... more>> by MTL, I will update whenever I finish this novel. <<less
