After rebirth, she appeared lovable on the outside but was a different person on the inside.
Those who learned of her true nature yielded to her.
Only the prince regent regarded her as a treasure; no matter how much he pampered her, it was not enough for him.
Anything she wanted, he gave her, including the princess position that she didn’t want, which he stubbornly pushed onto her.

- Short-chapter arcs. It doesn't take 20+, even 50+, chapters for an arc to complete (I'm looking at you GD:BBM). Each arc takes about 3 chapters at least and 5 chapters at most. So, it doesn't leave the reader bored reading through multiple chapters to finish an arc (still looking at you GD:BBM) to the point of just skipping through chapters just to get to the conclusion.
- The romance. You get a heaping dose of teeth-rotting sweetness between the male lead and female lead and how doting the male lead is towards the female lead. Whatever misunderstanding or quarrel happens, the two main characters talk it out and sort out their problems (and this only takes about 1 or 2 chapters, thank the book gods for that!).
- It is a happily-ever-after story.

Why I don't like this:We even get a glimpse of their lives with children
Some deserve it, but a lot of times, especially towards the female villains, the punishments didn't match with the crime. I know for the most part those punishment were cruel and completely unnecessary.
The author does not know how to f*cking convey a romantic physical intimacy. OH MY GOD! Every time the author writes an intimate scene, the first few instances/chapters always seemed forced to the point of it making it sound like r*pe. If the author was trying to go for "hard-to-get" female lead, he/she (author) is horribly failing at it (or maybe it's just lost in translation, who knows), but yeah. You will hate the male lead at times for pushing through a physical contact that the female lead is uncomfortable with and you will get uncomfortable with it as well. Does it redeem itself afterward? For some bizarre reason, it does. The latter intimate scenes suddenly turn scintillating, which is completely confusing to readers. That's why I'm thinking that maybe it's just lost in translation.

Would I recommend this book? If you want a novel that doesn't take 1K+ chapters to read and is completed, I'd say go for it, but I would ask you to keep an open mind. If you can't do that, don't. If you want to read a book that has second chances, romance and revenge, then I say give this a try. Those are some of the reasons why I read this book in the first place. Another one was because Fuyuneko, the translator who took over after Girly Novel stopped translating, uploaded chapters on a daily basis, which I certainly appreciate as I hate cliffhangers (who does?). And lastly, there's always a lively conversation among the readers and even the translator in the comments section and I love reading the interaction of everyone's differing opinions. Why did I gave it 4 stars? Because I appreciate Girly Novel and Fuyuneko's efforts a lot for translating this novel. Both translators explain idioms and terminologies well that doesn't make sense in English and they even post pictures to make it easier for readers to imagine what an item is about. P.S. Thank you Girly Novel and Fuyuneko for sharing this novel! This novel is about unrequited love. You make a mistake when you're young and the consequences are brutal. Wei Lou's dad encouraged a woman to come between him and his wife. The wife left him. He married the other woman but he was never happy. He realized there is such a thing as marrying someone your heart desires compared with marrying someone for convenience's sake and it ruined his life. It also ruined the life of his youngest daughter.
The emperor went his merry way to imp**gnate every tree that moves and in the process lost his loyal and valiant wife. She ruthlessly cut off all emotional ties with him without nary a regret and in the end he could show nothing for all his so-called omnipotence except the almost fatal effect of his adultery on his only daughter. He lost his daughter, his wife, he certainly lost authority on his only heir.
Li Song, my favorite character of all the characters in this novel, is the most tragic. He made one wrong decision in his childhood and he was marked for life by the woman he heartbreakingly loves. He suffered all sorts of physical, emotional and mental abuse because of her but the thing is he only wanted to make her his, be good and kind to her as her chosen husband. The tragedy is he knows whatever he does would be of no good because she hates him and continue to hate him until he dies.
No wonder the author gave him a second chance in a dream?
Besides these interesting characters, the novel is basically a lolicon. A 22 year old man sexually desiring a 13 year old girl. Well, it could pass for love, maybe, because of the ancient setting. People do get married in those era while they're practically skipping rope as a child so to each his own, right?
But is this a good novel? Yes, because of those other characters. The bitterness and sadness in the novel is quite palpable. I feel sorry for the half-sister who's made into a prostitute at 13 by her uncaring husband. But can you blame him since he himself is suffering the bitter pangs of unrequited love?
