I, a mere con artist, was unjustly imprisoned in Tantalus, the Abyssal Prison meant for the most nefarious of criminals, where I met a regressor.

But when I used my ability to read her mind, I found out that I was fated to die in a year…

and that the world would end 10 years later.

There are novels that make me wonder if the ppl giving positive reviews are brian dead, this is one of this novels, he is supouse to be a genius master manipulator but all he does is survive by plot armor thicker than any other MC not even the regresor in this novel have plot armor that thick and she travel back in time and has a legendary sword.

This novel has honestly been one of the novels I have read of all time. The best part about this novel is the interactions of the characters and most definitely the misunderstanding caused by the MC. The characters have their own personalities and not just there to make the MC shine. The MC uses his wit rather than his strength because he knows most of the enemies are much stronger than him.
Spoiler

The first 140+ chapters centers entirely withing the prison Tantalus so it might seem slow but the happenings within the prison are actually very interesting

.

Now lets talk about the characters:

Spoiler

MC:Mind reader, scammer, (might have a hidden past). Also disguised himself as a instructor inside tantalus after he got caught and got put in Tantalus as a laborer.

Shei:Regressor, dressed as a boy, likes cutting people's arms off on their first meeting.

Tyr:Vampire Progenitor, master of bloodcraft.

Azzy:Dog King. Best girl. (I'm not a furry)

All in all. It is one of the best novel on the Genesis website and also has sometimes fast release.

Between all the sappy and tr*shy novels with clishés and boring plots, this star shines brightly apart. With a verbosely gifted protagonist and a cast who give very delightful interactions I present a wonderful little story deep below the earth.

While this is a harem, it isn't a harem of romance and le*ds, but a harem of girls who follow one male. For now it feels very slice-of-lifey but we get glimpses of what will and has been happening. I like it and fully recommend it. It's funny AF.

Don't be fooled! While this may seem like an ORV copy at first glance when checking out the title, but it is far from it. This has a good and unique story with an amazing plot, well written characters and story alongside a pacing that makes the story shine.

The MC is incredibly unique, memorable, and also gets philosophical at times, with his skillset that largely relies on his ability to read minds and paired with his intelligence, he is a force to be reckoned with even with his lack of... more>> strength.
The side characters are well written with their own goals and fleshed out personalities. Author did a great job by starting the story out in the prison with only the MC and 3 other side characters, as it lead to an appropriate amount of time to flesh out their personalities. Due to the start of the story being in the secluded prison, we were slowly fed information about the outside world, which kind of surprised me as I didnt expect it to be set in a dystopian ish world.

In conclusion, it is a fresh experience from the crazy amount of KR transmigrated academy with an OP MC that flood the sites that I read in. With the MC and his sometimes comedic shenanigans and the side characters, it is definitely a story that is worth your time in reading. <<less

I expect the plot about omniscient person who know everything. A general copycat from well known series.

But what I got is a plot that have pretty uniqueness in every aspect; characteristic, Interactions, mystery, humor, world building, etc

all of it delivered by lightweight way, sol comedy-like.

This novel may not be one of the greatest novel I've read before, but it certainly deserves a 5-star.

The story starts with the MC, a petty criminal who mainly scams others using his mind-reading powers, being dragged into Tantalus, essentially Tartarus, but if it was for the worst criminals in the nation, not titans. When he landed on the bottom, he met three individuals, a (secretly female) regressor, the progenitor of vampires, and the Dog King (the conceptual king of dogs who took on a human form, since humanity... more>> is the current dominating species).

By reading the regressor's mind, he discovers that the world is on a timer to doom, what exactly isn't clear yet, but after he learns this the MC did what does best, scamming the other three into thinking that he was a warden sent by the Military State (the nation they're in) since apparently, all but three prisoners in Tantalus managed to either escape or die in the process.

After this, we follow the MC's plots and schemes to try to survive one day at a time in Tantalus, from attempting to tame the Dog King (somewhat successfully?) to helping the regressor become stronger, to teaching the vampire, and the rest, lessons from the modern era.

Of course, there are many problems, quite literally, dropped on the MC throughout the times he spent in Tantalus, and if you want to know how he managed to resolve, or fail to, those events, then go ahead and read the story.

Overall, this is a really fun story with a mysterious MC, an equally mysterious, yet colorful cast of characters, the action scenes are also quite good too, so is the social manipulations the MC does. <<less

Till now this story has been refreshing and new as it not entirely focused on fighting with strength but with brain,

The MC is pretty interesting and unique and all the female characters are unique as well

The story follows the plot perfectly.

... more>> The interactions between MC and female leads are quite funny

also misunderstandings are hilarious and MC has been always on age till now.

The Female characters are all unique even by their race as well as nature's so it feels more attractive.

It is written well and pretty unique with enough scenarios being funny so would be great to give it a try. <<less

"I can't get no, sa-tis-fac-tion"

It's well written imo, I recommend giving it a chance, but it frustrated me quite a bit. My biggest complaint is how dumb and pathetic the MC can be, despite being so clever and, this is revealed pretty early but I'll mark it anyway, ... more>>

the super contrived rules that prevent him from reading the whole of the regressor's memories. The idea that she can come back and just not have certain memories in her mind unless she has a "flashback" just annoys me.

[collapse]

The book is really taking time to develop the characters and their relationships, which can be really good, but b/c they're stuck in the same spot and the MC does a lot of dumb things despite being so clever, it kind of deprives me of the satisfaction I usually get when reading about smart characters.

I feel like this dislike is more just my taste rather than mistakes, but its frustrating b/c I think this would be something I really liked if the things I complained about weren't there.

I read till chapter 86, and the very end of that chapter was another moment that made me yell: "Why is a guy this smart so damn s*upid!" I assume the author made the character like that for humor, but it annoyed the hell out of me. I'm not planning to read anymore, but you should give it a chance. Might not bother you like it does me. <<less

Another banger from Genesis TL!

Our MC is unjustly imprisoned in abyssal prison where only the strongest and unkillable criminals are sent but our MC is a poor little swindler with mind-reading ability.

MC is a scumbag, cruel, and manipulative but also funny.

... more>> Female leads: 1) A Dog girl- Too cuteeeee.

2) 1200 old vampire- Best girl.

3) A Regresser- Hope she doesn't kill our poor MC.

There are also other FLs.

Heroines are all unique and their past is slowly revealed to MC from his minding reading skill.

World Building- Since the first 100 chapters are kinda like a prologue, you can be assured that world-building is top-notch. Don't let the slow pace deter you from reading this masterpiece. Dystopian.

Character development- There are only 4-5 main characters early (3 FL and Mc) which gives the author ample of time to develop characters.

Must read. <<less

, a seemingly minor conman who was somehow sent to the most secure and dangerous prison in the entire fantasy world and who has to survive living with The Millenia Old Vampire Progenitor, The Dog King and the most dangerous of all, a Regressor. And if any of them find out that he is a a mere prisoner and not a Warden sent by the country, he will be left wishing he was never born. Of course, the entire novel is not as simple as the synopsis and there are many plot twists which are better experienced as a reader than being spoiled. However, the novel is of extremely high quality without a doubt and while comedy is its strong suit, the story can get surprisingly serious, deep and touching at time and does not shy away from discussing profound topics as well as subverting certain tropes commonly seen with Regressors and others.

Spoiler

The story is definitively very enjoyable when everyone is still in prison but it truly hits its stride once they are able to escape the prison since they are put in a fresh situation where all of the required backstories and 'lore' has already been explained which allows things to occur at a quicker pace, not that it was slow before of course.

Omniscient First-Person's Viewpoint is 9/10 which is elavated to 10/10 by the translation

I have mixed feelings about this novel, but the way the plot unfolds keeps me reading. The author is creative, you have to give him credit for that. I'll be back once the translation catches up.
