Outsiders all say that Xie Zhongxing had hit the jackpot marrying the prince of the Qin Enterprise, Qin Zhongyue, even being treasured and favoured for five whole years. They were well-recognized as a loving couple.

However, they didn’t know that Qin Zhongyue had a lot of dissatisfaction with this marriage. He complained to his good friend, “He micromanages everything. Won’t let me drink or smoke, won’t let me go clubbing, and he even set me a 10pm curfew!”

“I have to hand over all my salary and bank cards and he would only give me a hundred yuan a day! Only if he is in a good mood, he would give me a few hundred more!”

Qin Zhongyue felt angry and wronged, “And I even have to wait on him!”

“If I ever get the chance to do this again, I will never marry him! I used to get eight million yuan a month as spending money!” The prince said this to his friend.

The day after he said this, Qin Zhongyue found himself reborn to the time when he was seventeen.

The Xie Zhongxing at this time was eighteen years old and poor to the point where he only had one set of old clothes to wear, holes in his socks and a pair of dirty shoes with its soles peeling off. Even if he had a nice-looking face, he was despised and looked down upon, and known in the school as a pauper.

When Xie Zhongxing’s parents came to handle the withdrawal procedures for him, Qin Zhongyue only then found out that he was a study tyrant ranked first in his grade, receiving scholarships every year, and that he was a seedling with good prospects the school had high expectations for and not the ‘useless high school dropout who didn’t like to study and only has money in his eyes’ as claimed by his younger brother.

Qin Zhongyue couldn’t bear the sight of this. He pulled Xie Zhongxing into his arms, angry, “Continue studying! Our Qin family has never had a top scorer before, you must keep studying!”

Xie Zhongxing raised his eyes and looked at him in confusion. The look in his eyes seemed to ask: Who are you?

Qin Zhongyue thought of Xie Zhongxing’s dictatorship after their marriage and shuddered. He then maintained a look of righteousness, “I am just a kind-hearted person who does not wish to reveal his name!”

Later, Qin Zhongyue asked Xie Zhongxing shyly, “If we get married, can you give me a thousand yuan a day as spending money?”

Xie Zhongxing, “?”

Qin Zhongyue, “…..Five hundred is also okay.”

NB: The actual title is literally “The Sand Sculpture Gong was Reborn”. Sand sculpture (沙雕) is a homonym for 傻屌 (Sha Diao) which is a derogatory term for an idiot/a fool. Sand sculpture is often used with a more humourous/joking intention to describe something or someone as silly or foolish.

What a sweet book about love spanning rebirth. Unlike most rebirth stories, this one has an MC and ML that loved each other and would have probably had a good relationship (eventually) even without the rebirth. The story is about how easy it is to misunderstand the other in a relationship. Each person is working towards making the other happy, but without telling the other person the intention, that work can be misconstrued and wasted.

I thought the ending dragged just a little, since I tend to get bored when it... more>> just regresses to mushy slice of life - what's the point in reading endlessly about how happy someone else is and how they rub it in everyone's faces? The author wisely ended the novel before it became too boring, and ended on a high note with some interesting extras (I honestly would have loved another extra or two on the alternative timeline).

Many of the side characters are wonderful, though their motivation is honestly baffling and they seem to exist purely to move the story along or burnish the MC and ml. It's pretty jarring how harshly people get retaliated against, especially large groups of people who seem only peripherally grouped with the villains. While the MC is very sweet, I couldn't help thinking that he would be the perfect villain in another rebirth story from the perspective of one of the side characters that get ruined by him. Why is holding a grudge somehow a good thing in this story?

However, all this said, the story was still entertaining and sweet, with a good amount of drama and romance. <<less

This was a really fun novel to read. I literally couldn't put it down when I first discovered it and it made me LOL several times. Don't take the novel too seriously when you read it, because there are plot holes and things that make you shake your head but at the same time, there's too many feel good moments to pass up.

According to most reviewers, the MC is Qin ZhongYue, the gong, but I feel like he should share MC title with Xie ZhongXing, the shou, because there are... more>> several chapters that are from his point of view. If anything, the novel starts off with more Qin as MC and then kind of transitions to more from Xie's POV. Some side characters also have their share of the POV as well, which is a nice touch.

It is never really shared why MC got reborn, he didn't die or have an accident or anything, just got drunk one night, complained about his wifey to his friend and then woke up back at age 17. Then everything is back to Xie's POV for awhile until Qin bumps into him again by chance. We never get to see what he did from the time he was reborn to the time he bumps into Xie again. But again, you can't take the novel too seriously because it's not meant to be too serious. Qin doesn't have much character growth aside from realizing all his grievances with his wife the first time around was because of miscommunication and all the restrictions he imposed were to prevent him from being taken advantage of for his money. Xie grows a little in that because he was saved from the harsh life experienced the first time around, he learned how to open up and express more.

The way rich people are written in the novel is kind of annoying though. I feel like every single rich generation novel talks about how their family is involved in business and how the dad's business has power over all the son's friend's businesses so that's why they need to kiss up to the son. Like first of all, if someone works in real estate and another person works in fashion or food industry, how the heck can they affect each other? There's also a lot of discussions about underage s*x. All of Qin's childhood friends apparently were fooling around and sharing women since 12 or 13 and Xie's half brother is apparently already seducing men. We are never given his age, but since his mum miscarried 3 times before she could finally give birth to him, based on recover and Xie's age then the half brother would be at oldest just 15 or 16. Like what the heck, that's too young! I really don't know how MC managed to stay a virg*n until marriage in his first life being surrounded with so many messy lifestyles.

Also another cliche trope in this novel is that all relatives are rotten aside from direct family like their parents. And similarly, the reason they're all rotten is because they're all greedy for money <<less

Story: The ML family drama part is good and satisfying to read.

ML (Xie Zhongxing) is a likeable character. I actually enjoy his development.

... more>> MC (Qin Zhongyue) can really grind your nerves. I feel he have no character development... maybe just a little bit if you count him changing his attitude and taking into consideration ML's thought about his friends in his rebirth.

Which is why my biggest gripe about this novel is the MC. He is seriously a spoiled 2nd Gen rich manboy with PTSD and a d*ck for brain man child because you'll see just how many times he talk about how big he is down there.

So, If you're looking for strong mature MC, this story will not offer you that.

Reasons is that supposedly the MC is 27 before he got rebirth back to his 17 years old self, with memory in tact. Now, with this fact in mind, you would think that his with 27 mind in a 17 body, he would act more mature at the very least. But, I feel that after rebirth, aside from having 10yrs worth of memories, his mental age regresses to that of 15-16 and/or stay at that from the future to the past.

MC's dad is a likable person and I really feel him about not having hope in MC to take over his legacy, even if MC turns out like that as a result of the dad being too soft and spoiled the MC.

I supposed the good thing about the ML is that he's kind, gullible, carefree, positive, and devoted to the ML.

Anyway, only the ML can love and stand MC haha. He's too much of a man child for my patience.

If you're going to give this story a chance, just put your brain away and bring in the patience. And remember to breathe from time to time, lest your blood pressure ran too high by MC. lol <<less

Although I don't like qi yaoming character I still feel pity for him. while his mother still thinking about his ex and his father manipulate him to hate her mother so she would bend down to him anyone would get crazy and have a distorted worldview. with an uncle and grandma (from mom's) that like blood sucking money and grandma from father side hating him from being born by someone who has given birth once. he's really the only one who fight alone in the family, and I'm sure his... more>> grandma (from mom's) always ask him to lick his father boot so he won't give his wealth to illegitimate child, it would then make his thought astray, especially plus he's always being ridiculed by both family too. it's no wonder for him to treat his mother like that, to fight for his father love.

Ah... forgot to mention that his mother word for not wanting him to be born, is the last string that may make him crazy and kill anyone insight
what a distorted family this is. Hope he'll have a better ending, maybe, like meeting someone that changes his worldview and character? and maybe stop him from throwing away his body to beast like a cheap cabbage <<less

I can't believe that I almost ignored this novel because of a misleading comment.

I thought the MC is XZ and the ML is QZ.

I'm not actually part of the pitiful MC troupe because sometimes, their misery becomes annoying as the story goes on. I hate reading their perspectives because it also affects me.

I hope people will learn how to know what "MC" (Main Character) means.

This is a work where I wouldn't stop my internal voice from screaming in excitement and giddiness. It was really adorable and funny, although it was splashed with a really dog blood background for Xie Zhongxing's relations with his relatives, it ain't going to be the center of his personality.

The friends of Qin Zhongye are blind. If I was Shi Yanyu, I would definitely wanted to be with this loveable fool too. He is freaking sweet and nice!!!

Do not read the spoiler, it's the summary (sort-of) of the past life. I can only say one thing, Qin Zhongye is a really unreliable narrator. Lmao.

Qin Zhongye—"foolish gong"

Xie Zhongxing was sold to Uncle Ni. Remember that contract that was religiously detailed and legally binding? No one saved him in that life. He then undergone training as a conman but while he had not participated in the actual operations, he became the organization's planning strategist.

He met Qin Xiangqian in one of his projects, the latter really liked him due to his help concerning Qin Xiangqian's hair loss. He complained a lot about his son, Qin Zhongye, who he said was the cause of his balding head. He mused that Xie Zhongxing should marry his son. The next day, the latter investigated Xie Zhongxing's background and discovered the rather pitiful experiences that Xie Zhongxing's younger years hid. Qin Xiangqian felt that it was a shame that the potential of Xie Zhongxing has been obstructed by his greedy relatives and poor financial situation so he offered him a deal: If he agreed to marry his son, Qin Xiangqian would train him then hand over his Qin Empire to him as well as rid Xie Zhongxing, what is shackling him to the dark (the illegal operations). I think he would remove these men either way but as a businessman and stranger, Xie Zhongxing wouldn't have known this.

While he was apprehensive and doubtful the other would really do it, he agreed. Our main character's father moves real fast. He had those men apprehended and proceeded to introduce Qin Zhongye to Xie Zhongxing.

Enter Qin Zhongye, our endearingly foolish and, oh god, very sweet fellow. Xie Zhongxing was still questioning his place and the realness of the offer (he thought that at best, he would become sort of a plaything or mistress to Qin Zhongye— not an actual legal spouse with power) but then he was charmed by our foolish gong.

A real rollercoaster ride was their engagement, straight to marriage and honeymoon. On the first night, Qin Zhongye presented all his cards and passwords to Xie Zhongxing without any need for prompt.

All the relatives and other businessmen mocked Xie Zhongxing but Qin Xiangqian and Qin Zhongye rolled up their sleeves and defended the heck out of Xie Zhongxing.

He was still reeling back from the really surprising situation but then he really found that he loved that place. He was exposed to the sincerity of these two Qins and while he still held insecurity, he thought that he would do his best to hold the place as long as he could.

It was unknown to him at first but the friends of Qin Zhongye would send women to Qin Zhongye and disparage Xie Zhongxing in private. Qin Zhongye was really angry and did not want these friends to meet Xie Zhongxing. He refused the women, argued with these people. He chose Xie Zhongxing over any of them without hesitation.

(> //// <) As clarification for the nightly activities, it's not that Xie Zhongxing was insatiable... he just noticed the desire of Qin Zhongye and he hid his shyness with his outward cold face. He entertained this foolish boy of ours but as expected, he can't compete so he secretly made the aunty brew that herbal soup for him (but Qin Zhongye discovered it and mistook it as that Xie Zhongxing was really disappointed with his prowess and wanted to strengthen it by having Qin Zhongye drink that herbal soup).

Then the extra ended with the continuation of the first chapter, where Li Jun carried Qin Zhongye back to their house.

Really cute and their interactions are so funny. The gong is a thick-skinned, occasionally righteous, silly mood killer. The shou is the cold, aloof Gaolin flower.

So much character development for both of them and at the end I even wish there was a continuous stream of extras (like in Find My Bearings) to show more of their interactions.

Plot-wise, it was okay. The plot is not the highlight here. The key really is the relationship between MC and ML. So much fluff here and silliness.

I MTLed this story, so I'm not so attached to the writing, but the within first few chapters I got hooked up with this story.

It's kind of refreshing to have sunny and foolish person as ML, MC loves him so much for his innocence, and I like how ML got second chance to redo it all and made MC happy. I just a little bit didn't like their relationship pace. They changed from couple from previous life to strangers to friends to fiancee to couple. Between friends and fiancee there... more>> is no lovers, that's what the problem MC worried as well as the readers.

I have never seen a person who is like ML, but tolerating such a person needs a lot of love towards him.

"Qin Zongyue wants to give Xie Chongxing a lot of sense of security. If Xie Chongxing doesn't like him one day, he can have the confidence to leave him. "

When I read this line, I thought it was worth it!!
Definitely a good story to read. <<less

Really cute.

my google translate said MC is Xie Chongxing but I just realized here it's Zhongxing lol im lazy to edit it.

Zhongyue is really silly! He is basically the epitome of sand sculpture person😅

... more>> For me, the drama is really minimum, in my opinion the dog blood side is more inclined to the process of catching feeling of both protagonist.

Maybe because I am not in the same dimension as Zhongyue and never (and also will never) have a conversation with Zhongyue, I feel like ZY is kinda pitiful. You know, he is innocent and pure, sunny and cheerful. Really positive. He always cried whenever he feels distressed about Chongxing's experience. How lovely.

In the novel, this is kinda spoiler but not really. ML's mouth is really poisonous, he is always say something irrelevant to the current situation and can make people speechless lol. Poor Dad Qin.

But then some part of situation in the novel make me uncomfortable. Well, honestly it's understandable because CX also lack of security and ZY looks like he's taking everything lightly. But I still feel uncomfortable whenever CX teasing ZY about his (CX) sexuality by saying that he is straight and will marry in the future. Making ZY, who already insecure and not sure about CX feeling in the last life, confused and panicked.

But then again hahaha it's ZY own mouth that caused CX to be annoyed. Even so, shouldn't CX already know that ZY was silly and ummm a bit like a kid? (i suspect ZY having a partial (lol idk) autism. He's literally 27 yo but his inner psychology seems not growing up, stuck in elementary school /don't hit me chongxing)

Overall this is indeed fluff and cute. One of the most precious ML ever. Hope he is always healthy, happy, and wealthy!

i am indeed partial to the gong character here so I am biased hehehe

SO EXCELLENT SO FUNNY SO GOOD I STAYED UP ALL NIGHT TO FINISH THIS. AFTER READING THIS MY SKIN IS CLEAR. MY CROPS ARE THRIVING. MY GRADES ARE UP. I HAVE 20/20 VISION. THE SUN IS SHINING.

It's just a light hearted fun novel with the funniest MC and ML. MC is the shou XZ and ML is the gong QZ. Eventhough the story is in his perspective in the beginning, it actually switches between the two of them throughout the novel.

It's a fun novel with great chemistry between the two... more>> leads. The romance is great with a believable progression from friends to lovers.

Other side characters like the father are also written well and fun to read about.

Plot itself isn't mindblowing or difficult. Its a simple rebirth story with the ML entering the MC's life earlier and he's able to prevent MC's youth from being tragic. He helps MC's solve certain problems and he also gets to understand the MC better with the rebirth. It's just a really nice story with minimal understanding and antagonists are also defeated quite easily and fast.

Extras are also great! Loved the insight into MC's mind in the first lifetime. It is sad about MC's 1st life but luckily he had ML to bring light in his life.

The only thing is one reviewer mentioned MC got ML drunk. I think that part isn't as bad as the reviewer mentioned. Just wanted to say that.

Finally just wanted to say I liked this story. Enjoyed this alot! <<less

This novel is carried by the MC's personality: he has the personality of a himbo. It is glorious.

There's nothing really wrong with the novel, but the MC's personality is what makes it deserve 5 stars. He's very straightforward, pure, honest, and kind. He can be a pushover sometimes when it comes to those he cares for, but his character development helps become more steadfast... except for when it comes to his ML, haha. It's cute how he simps for the ML.

I think what makes this novel is unique is how... more>> the author kinda reversed the usual gong/shou stereotypes. The gong (MC) acts more like the usual shou does, haha. Yet, he's not annoying or wimpy, so it's quite refreshing. Despite acting like a himbo, he's actually not s*upid. He has common sense (excluding his approach toward money, haha), but he can be quite foolish sometimes. He's a silly big guy who is absolutely hilarious. Golden retriever vibes fr. Meanwhile, the ML (shou) acts more like the cold CEO type.

Nothing in the novel really is bad, but the plot and antagonists are kinda mid. Nothing spectacular, perhaps a bit flat and predictable. Still, the side characters and good family members are great. They help flesh out the novel (MC still carries though). I do appreciate how the MC and ML got a good 2nd chance as well. The extras... they hit hard. ML gets more attention there, and you get to finally understand what he was thinking.

Warning: The ML can be a bit... controlling? Manipulative? Nothing too wild (it's usually for the MC's benefit), but he's not an absolute angel. His flaws actually make him seem more realistic.

The one part I disliked was when the ML

basically got the MC drunk so he could get the MC to spill some truths. The MC didn't really want to get drunk, but he went along with it because he's down bad for the ML. It still felt kinda wrong to me though.

I didn't really care for the plot and antagonists, but I would read a slice-of-life novel with just the MC/ML (and I usually get bored by slice of life). Oh, and there are some vague NSFW moments. I have read this novel numerous times and I never seem to get tired of it. It's a heartwarming story, where you can feel refreshed after reading it, especially when you had read a novel with too much dog blood.

There is still some angst in this novel like any other bl but what makes this so much different is COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE MC AND ML. There could be situations they all face but the one thing they never once doubted was there love for one another.

When the ML was working alongside the mc's father to gain his mothers' freedom but never told the MC. He did not know what was going on but knew that the ML was hurting, so he just hugged him and told him that he'll always be there to support him

Rebirth, modern, comedy, family conflict

The MC (gong) is truly foolish and I love his journey to become more mature without loosing what makes him a ‘sand sculpture’. The relationship between MC and ML is super sweet and the face-slapping is satisfying and at times hilarious. However there is enough seriousness to hit you in the feels and make everything feel worthwhile. Great story and great translation.

This is a sweet story, QZ is very silly and says things very straightforwardly but that is what makes him the ray of sunshine in XZ's life. He wholeheartedly loves XZ and even having a 2nd chance to do things over he still chooses XZ. He was able to prevent the bad things that XZ originally encountered and give him a much better life earlier. QZ and his dad's relationship is also very endearing. Silly and sweet story.

MC is so cute and refreshing heheheheheh I love puppy gongs that are a bit of a tsundere. I also like ML, he's cool. I like how he looks after our MC in their past life. Overall, this is good fluffy read

The foolish gong is sweet and caring, fierce and protective, being more thoughtless and with no brain-mouth filter than outright foolish. I loved the way he slowly realised just how blind he was previously, unwilling to consider other peopke's circumstances and points of view. His personal growth is slow, methodical, and well-written. He is also an absolute darling in how he treats other people.

Its very sweet and fluffy, no angst, no third party, no misunderstanding, no drama, just pure fluff all the way.

I really like our ML, he's silly and naive but not s*upid, cute, sunny and full of fluff but also ruthless if touched his bottom line which is his 'wife'.

Theres character grow, both of them able to influence each other to be a better and happier.

Thanks for introducing the novel~~

The translation are good, but MTL might be a bit hard to understand, maybe 80%

This was a fun read + some touching/heartache story especially on what MC experienced. A chance for the ML to really see the whole picture and understand more MC/his wife.
