I love the FL, she’s the type that can truly stand on her own and I love how committed she is to acting like weak beauty. She stands by her principles from beginning to end, I love how loving her whole family is supportive of her antics. Admittedly, I also appreciate the fact that no transmigration, reincarnation or some type of system is involve, it’s solely just the FL with her charming personality and acquired skills.

This is my second time reading this and so far, this is my favorite aside from the TBAVF. I didn't like it at first because I don't like fl's who are pretentious but as I read through this for the second time around, this novel made me giggling and laughing to the point of loving its comedy part rather than its romance. Very good story. It is a bit slow at times but I like how it doesn't handhold you into every part of the plot while still giving you enough to surmise each character's reason for their actions.

Honestly SO good! All the characters were well depicted, nobody made nonsensical decisions just to carry the story, the villains and hero’s all believable. This was actually such a refreshing read, it’s palace intrigue but having read a lot of palace intrigue type books, I have never read one like this and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Also translated particularly well!

The novel has so many funny sections and I like the way the FL became a lucky star. I recommend the novel for light-hearted reading. The translator Krish728 did a good justice in translating the novel.

I deleted my previous comment. This novel actually grew on me and I ended up super liking it. Not as much as I loved To Be. A Virtuous Wife but still I really liked this novel. I was laughing so much and the mystery of the main villain actually kept me curious until the end as well. Major love for this one!

I've read few books of the author before this. I'd say I was quite excited during the first half of the story because I thought I found the best couple of his works. Well, the book is one of the best in terms of the main characters chemistry. The only thing is, it's too long winded and it gets boring on the second half of the story.

I have no other words, some of the other comments already said what I wanted to say. 5/5 for me. The story and the translations are top notch you guys.

This is excellent. I loved how different and refreshing it was! A power couple that slays together --verbally. I've never had so much fun reading a novel where basically the whole plot is just the main characters pissing various people off. So satisfying!

I love this story. This is arguably one of the best historical romance that I've ever read so far. The plot revolved around conspiracy that threatened the harmony between officials and monarch in Great Jin. Although it sounded heavy and potentially angsty, the antics of the characters in this novel successfully made it into a comedy.

I also love all the characters in this story. The emperor wasn't narrow-minded. He genuinely appreciated the generals who defended his country instead of being suspicious of them. He also treated his consorts equally without... more>> particularly favoring one over the others so his harem was quite harmonious. Aside from that, he's also a good father and cared for his sons. Alhough he favored ML more, he never neglected his other sons and even patiently dealt with each of their quirks.

MC and ML were also a highlight of this story. ML was a black-belly and never gave anyone face but he really cared about his families. MC was also as cunning as ML and she pretended to be a sickly beauty while she's actually proficient in martial arts. It's really entertaining to see her thwarting the enemy's plan with her innocent face. Their romance was a slow-burn though but there were still many sweet moments between MC and ML scattered throughout the story.

The ending was very satisfying although it's a bit regrettable that I didn't get to see other side character's potential love story and...

This is one of the rare novels that I would forego sleep for. The characters were very fleshed out, realistic, and the plot was intriguing. I didn't think too deeply while reading so I was kept guessing who did what until the end. Others might guess, but I didn't. Super fun read! Would (and have) recommend

It has always been hard for me to write a review of a good book/novel. It's also true for this one.

This author's historical BG novels have always been my favorites. Another one has joined the ranks now.

It was a great blend of slice of life, romance, mystery, palace intrigue, conspiracy and comedy. Though the romance part is quite subpar compared to her other novels, I think the other elements made it up for that.

Our FL, Hua Liuili, is a sickly and delicate beauty who is totally a face-control. But there is also a twist. Only if you read, you'll know.

Ji Yuansu had such an infuriating poisoned tongue but he was such a wife-s*ave too. I liked his character a lot. I wanted more scenes between these two.

And finally an emperor who is not a dog. The relationships among the imperial family were also quite unique. The emperor was definitely a good father. I felt for the Fourth prince. Poor boy.

The translator also did a great job.

This novel made me laugh, it also made me tear up so many times. And no matter what I just couldn't put it down either.

Definitely worth it!

The translator had done a good job. It is a story of two pretentious people falling in love. The comedy makes you laugh. FL and ML are both likeable. Even supporting characters are well developed.

I love this author! Never disappoint. Although this wasn’t my favourite out of all the author’s novels I’ve read, I enjoyed it. It’s funny and the plot is smart. Also, the novel has the best emperor ever! Wish more leaders in the world are as wise.

The MC: She's definitely a white lotus, but she's a good one. In the first few caps, it may seem like she is arrogant, but you will see that after these first 3 or 4, the direction of the character changes a lot. She doesn't mind lying and manipulating, but she's not someone who belittles others because of their status, she was mean to one specific person because that person spoke ill of her father.
I saw several reviews that were probably made very early on the translation, so I think they misunderstood the ML character due to first impressions. ML is not a prince as lazy or indifferent as he seems first, he just has no intention/reasons to maintain a "scholarly" appearance and that's why he is direct and kinda rude sometimes. But that's only when someone is annoying.

Comedy is Good as in most of this author's novel. Romance is cuute and the characters are all very endearing. I like this one a lot.
