The young single man, Xu Zhao, recently graduated from university and was ready to embark on a major task at his job when he was suddenly transmigrated to the eighties where there was no internet or tv. The son had nothing to wear.

The son had nothing to eat.

The son had no toys to play with.

The son didn’t even have a “daddy.”

How would the son live without him? Xu Zhao decided that he would raise the son.

From a personal point of view, to be honest, this novel is disappointing. It started out relatively fine but then it really went downhill.

To me it was really long winded. I'm not sure about others but the way the story was written was tiring. Too much repetition. Although some would say it reflects the slice if life, laid back setting, the monotonous scripts is just really exhausting to read.

There's also the child. In my opinion his characterisation is somewhat flawed. He grew up in a difficult and poor environment, bullied by his older cousins, it would be more believable if he had a more restrained, cautions, understanding nature despite being young.

Of course, my first impression when I first started was that despite the hardships, he is a happy to be by his father's side kind of child. But then as the story progresses, the novel just portrayed him being spoiled, throwing tantrums, not listening to adults. Although there may be such children in reality, but for the purpose of this novel, it does not match the setting.

The fact that the dialogues with him is always about cars and food is really redundant to the point of annoyance. It really made me wonder, is there really nothing else you could say other then I want to eat this, I want to ride the big car?

I honestly didn't think of this novel as cute but it is a bit bland. <<less

3.5 stars. Nice, easy going story to pass the time. Not really any conflicts between main leads, son is super narcissistic but in a cute and funny way. Minor conflicts between brothers that doesn’t actually lead to much. If you want a sweet, slow and mostly fluffy story, with cute bun, standard farming from poor to rich (for the times), this was well-written. Nothing too exciting happens so story is not particularly gripping or interesting but if you want to kill time without drama or stress, this is a nice... more>> easy read. I prefer a bit more spice and drama so hence not 4 or 5 stars but characters are not brain dead, translation is excellent and everything makes sense so worth a read. <<less

It's a typical poor to rich transmigration novel where the MC conveniently knows all the technology he needs to get rich quick.

Knowing how to make delicious popsicles is one thing, but, correct me if I'm wrong, somehow I don't think the recipes (with exact measurements) for mooncakes is general knowledge since they seem to be mass produced in factories.

Making a greenhouse isn't something I would expect a modern man to know how to do either, but somehow, he has all the needed information on how to build one.

The baby was cute in the first 50 or so chapters, but to be honest, his "cute" scenes got pretty repetitive. And later on his talkativeness got pretty tiring.

I also would have preferred the ML'S nephew as the partner, since it would have been more interesting to see how he would develop. Instead we got the typical cold, rich, handsome and successful Mr. Perfect. <<less

There is no shocking twist or anything complicated. This story is for those who love every-day life, hardworking MC, ruthless-yet-gentle-to-MC ML, Strong and Capable couple, cute and smart children. I like Sanwa's part the most. He's so cute, so pure. 4.6/5 star for me.

I just would say the maximum is 4.0 :) actually I want to give it 3.9.. I blame it to myself, my expectation is too high, when I saw it yaoi and the time setting was 80's.. What in my mind is something that grow from poor to rich (and yes.. Our MC do it) and then when I saw they had little bun.. My expectation was childcare and warm parenting moment.. (And they also have it..) the romance? Is freaking slow for me.. Which is taking 90+ chapters.. And... more>> the sweet is light :'' our baobao is realistic genius child.. If u know what the real cleaver child is.. Our baobao clearly have that aspect (u may also find it annoying.. If u someone who hate interaction with children) bcs this danmei had main element that I want.. But the execution is not that high I give it 4.0, they a bit dramatic (it's like u want to try do write something to touch the heart, full of fate and lovely atmosphere but ended as just give a description and flat feelings), the world setting which having male could give a birth is also shallow (I mean it's not like the abo or ger setting.. It just statement that in here, they malexmale is common.. Is not illegal.. Some can give birth, that's it) it also not pictured the live in 80's (I feel not enough detailed conditions for that time, it's like u just copying the sense of 80's and not the real life in 80's) <<less

Very good and cute. Xu Fan is such a brilliant, cute and sweet kid. I love him so much. I can feel the vibes of 80s in this novel (the author really tell a good 80s ambiance in this). The translation quite okay (i can understand enough even though there were some errors).

The only thing that I hope that Cui Qingfeng will find a good partner in the future Prayge

It was a good story 🤔

It had a plot about improving their economical enviremont

Our MC didn't gave up and tried so much to change his life 🤗 it made me think if it was ms I would actually prefer to run away from those circumstances 😬

It had some holes in the plot but in general it was a good story

A refreshing twist of 80s era in mpreg world.

The story shows more of MC growth development, in mind and career. I love the details of what MC was doing building his business from scratch. Meanwhile, ML was already a big boss from the start.

The backstory of how sanwa came to be was clearly hinted and no big surprise there.

I love Xu Baobao! He makes me want to have children even though I can’t which makes me feel so conflicted lol

This is such a great read, it made me feel happy and warm, I love this so much I couldn’t stop reading and I’ve dreamt of this too!

Very relaxing and heartwarming (thanks to the kid!) slice of life, rags to riches, transmigrated to the past story.

Xu Fan (the baby) is really cute and funny lol and his interactions with his friend Da Zhuang is peak child humor and reminded me a lot of my own niblings when they were that small 😂

I also like how there's real progression between the leads' romance. Well, it's still natural attraction between two handsome people but the romantic development is definitely there. I feel bad for the second ML though.

I feel... more>> like some parts were glossed over with the typical tell-not-show writing disease, but I'm still going to rate this high because it was a good, enjoyable read for its length. <<less

Overall/Personal Enjoyment: 3.9/5

I quite enjoyed myself. I've been in a reading slump since Nov so I said F it and started reading all the poor to rich not Completed webnovels in my list that I had reeeeally wanted to read. Normally, I would ignore the incomplete webnovels because I don't like the quality to drop halfway because of MTL but I didn't care anymore because I have read all the Completed novels with this type of trope haha.

I think I only read two other good transmigrate to the 50s-90s... more>> type of stories that were completed and that I really liked, Back to the 60s, Getting Wealthy, Raising Cubs and Bai Shumei in the 70s. The rest were quite disappointing. So I am happy to read this one. The story itself is pretty solid and I love that the business management part played a big role in the story. I wish the story focused more on that with even more detail haha. It only reached the level of the village and maybe the town or city. I wanted a business empire hahaha. I also would have liked more explicit information during the making of the products being sold like the recipe of the popsicles and what fruits exactly were inside. Also, for the greenhouses, I wanted to know in more detail each plant's drawing and planting detail like in the Pastoral Life. And also, what exactly are the greenhouse techniques the MC learned in the capital. Well, this is my most common complaint for all webnovels most likely. More detail lol.

Writing/Translation: 3.4/5

The translation I read is from Lazy Sakura Translations. The translation is okay, there are often some mistakes but they don't affect the reading experience for me. Some missing words, things like that. Also, the writing is pretty simple and straightforward so any translation mistakes are easily ignored. It isn't finished yet at chapters 85/148 so I continued with the MTL at the mtlnovel website. Like another reviewer said, it's quite readable. Far superior to most MTL and some terrible translations, such as a tea novel, which is simply too difficult to read. The MTL has frequent add-ons to the names, wrong substitutions to nouns and so on, but the grammar is surprisingly good. And yes, sometimes there are paragraphs or something happens but you can't understand because of the mtl but it doesn't really detract from the experience. The cuteness of the baby isn't as clear but it is still there. Basically, if someone wants to clean up the mtl, it really wouldn't take much effort.

Pacing: 4/5

I thought it was pretty good especially during all the money making bits. Nothing really felt rushed or slow.

Plot: 3.8/5

The plot is really simple which is good for what it is. The MC moved to the 1980s with a 2-year-old, broke ass poor, he has to use his brain and rely on himself to provide for this poor child. The money making from the beginning to about 3/4 is quite detailed, especially how much was made exactly, which I liked. Then, as it got bigger and bigger, more people noticed and when it looked like he could live a good life no matter what happens next, the characters' past came back to make some drama. I admit that the drama part was okay but I wished it was more satisfying to faceslap and that it would have concluded much faster so I could go back to the business management part haha.

Romance: 3.3/5

The romance is kinda lowkey haha. It really only happened in the latter half of the story because the MC is just too busy making a living for his family. But I didn't dislike it. It's fine for me.

Setting/Worldbuilding: 3.5/5

This is a typical olden days rural China setting. I wish it was more detailed but the focus was more on the running a business part.

Characters: 4/5

The main characters are pretty good. The MC is lowkey, smart, hardworking and serious. His son is arguably also a main character because he appears almost all the time haha. He's 2-3 years old but he's quite eloquent. Although he is so eloquent, you can tell he's still a little kid which is good. A lot of other stories I read with kids either show them briefly then throw them to other caretakers or show the kid as a mini adult which is too unbelievable that it broke me out of the immersion. This is just right. The kid is super cute and the MC is really involved in the kid's daily life. I admit, the repetition of the kid's unique characteristics, ie, the constant food obsession and how the other characters keep teasing him about being handsome and/or a little fatty, got a bit annoying by the end. But I still prefer this kid. He added a lot to the story.
