This story is a big slow burn that I wasn't expecting (in a good way!). And MC really chases (for once) after ML in this and it makes sense. In fact, the beginning was so slow that I nearly gave up but I'm glad that I got past the first 10 chapters and the story finally took off.

It's slow from the beginning because (I can't remember exactly) it took over 10 chapters before the exact plot in the summary even occurs.

But I love the slow burn in this story. Some might feel a bit frustrated by how slow burn it is though. I also liked the side characters, especially MC's good bro. Regarding plot,

part of why it was so slow is because ML KNOWS MC doesn't truly like him at the beginning because he saw past his acting. Glad there wasn't the drama of falling for each other then having some drama of finding out the truth of "oh you didn't actually like me in the beginning".

As for the plot antagonist,

MC's mother was a tad over the top with the possessiveness but there was a resolution at the end with the HE, thank goodness. There was also MC's ex-girlfriend that was a bit persistent but eventually exited.

The only bad thing about slow burns, and why the minus half star, is that towards the end, it just patters off. Something spicy is just missing from the story and there was some missing plot that I wanted.

Ya, I just wanted a bit more couple interactions. I think the whole book only had less than 6 kisses probably and a hug or two. And most of it occurred before they even officially got together. Not even a faded to black scene. Also, I needed more substance to the side CP of MC's good bro because he was such a good side character and all he got one sentence in the extras indicating he was together with the other character. No development or how they got together. I need more!

Oh and just one more major thing about this book regarding the character settings, I wasn't bothered by this but just want to make note that

other than ML's actor setting, MC's director setting is not prominent because he was mostly on a break in the book. But his dreams of being a big director is a big thing in the book. Also, MC is adorable but can't tell he's 28 years old director at times. But ignoring that, this is a light-hearted book.

Overall, I really liked the slow-burn with MC doing the chasing and the humour in this book. <<less

As usual, MTLed the whole thing. I found it lighthearted, cute funny romcom with a non-complicated plot. Aside from MC's scum mother (who served as the side villain) everything is easy to read. You don't have to break your brain to understand the story so I also had an easy time reading the MTL. Good for chill/light reading. And yeah, as the other reviewer said, this is a super slow burn.

In compare to "Back to My Dad's High School Days", this was done in the perspective of one of... more>> the couple. And for those who wanted to see more of the relationship (which the latter novel did not do much) you might appreciate this better. One of the thing I also like in this story is both were pretty manly and there's no "chick with dick" which made it, IMO a bit more realistic as a gay couple. It isn't even clear which one of them is the shou and gong. However, one downside is the "I am not attracted to men other than you" w/c might trigger a few who had that pet peeve. Aside from that they are pretty okay. I guess the straight x straight pairing contributed to the slow-burn part.

As the son transmigrated in the form of a cat, he doesn't speak much but he does appear every now and then as part of the story though I cannot say that he is a major character. The whole story is still focused around the relationship development of the main couple.

there will be a couple of bonus chaps in the end that focuses on the baby tho. How he "returned" back to his parents. I love how both MC love him so much and missed him.
