As we all know, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jihua Hospital, which is affiliated with A Medical University has two deputy chief physicians who do not see eye to eye.

From their freshman year to their doctoral graduation and then to their training and professional title evaluation, Jiang Xu and Sheng Fangyu have been fighting and thwarting each other. It was like a case id, ‘if you don’t kill me, I will kill you’, ‘you get 96 in the exam, I’ll get 97 in the exam’.

In the end, they even fell for the same girl.

But who would have thought that before the two could even get into a fight, the girl took her girlfriend’s hand and actually came out of the closet in front of them? The two straight men, who had been at loggerheads for three months over the girl, had their three worldviews shattered.

The two enemies sat down to drown their sorrows in alcohol and in the confusion, somehow together in bed.

Afterward, Jiang Xiu got up holding his almost broken back. His mind exploded for half a minute, and he resolutely decided to forget about it.

However, three months later, he looked at the urine test report, touched his disappearing abs, and looked at himself in the mirror in disbelief.

“Ugh—”

I’m saying this as a connoisseur of mpreg novels, this is by far my favorite and probably best mpreg novel I have ever read.

My biggest regret is that I passed this story up so many times because when I finally sat down to read it, I was shocked at how developed and real this story felt. They’re undoubtedly errors and issues in the story but I feel like the pros of everything packed in here outweigh the negatives.

The reactions from both of the main characters, their families, friends, the way... more>> their relationship developed to how to baby came to be. I’m just shocked at how amazing this story is and I honestly don’t think I’m ever going to find a story that tops this in the mpreg genre.

Its like this author had the same complaints as me when they read other mpreg novels and took it upon themselves to fix those mistakes and make the mpreg novel I’ve been craving. I’m almost sad that I finished this so fast, this novel is so amazing and this author is so very talented. Thank you translators for bringing this to us because I absolutely loved this story. <<less

This story is very down to earth and its very slow pace. There are unnecessary parts in the story and the writing style is a bit bland. The story is heartwarming and bring a bit of normalcy to the story I have read in the past.

The character love story developed very well but it's like every other story when it comes to unexpected pregnancy and enemies to lovers.

Loveeee the story! It’s a slow burn not just magically fall in love. Love both MC ML, their interactions felt realistic. I cried a few times too but the story is not that heavy, it’s just driven by good plot. However, the last few chapters are a bit anticlimactic. But it’s totally worth the read.

4.4 every aspect is really good and I think they break the paper at the right time.. The children is cute, but although they come with many complex emotions and also focusing on their one and only relationship + carrier, I find my experience after reading it was bland.. Idk the conflict is looks intense but actually not, and it resolve with peace, it just my feeling for this novel.. And I don't denied that this is a good work.. With balance and keep u want to read it.

How have I not come across this book much earlier but also thankful that I wouldn't have to suffer from waiting for the TL to be finished or a bad MTL just so I can proceed reading. I easily gave this a 5 star rating⭐

Why?

It's rare to come across a book that is storyline rich, has amazing character development, and an enemies to lovers book that is not so typical. With a good translator to boot (the proofreading can make it a lot better but hey, the translator did I... more>> good job so kudos). The slow-paced romance is not annoying, in fact, it will make you giddy with anticipation on how will they become lovers. We all have very different tastes and this one just suited me much more than I expected it to be.

The only reason I read this because it's mpreg and medical related. I haven't come across medical themed novels (and if you do please suggest me more of this genre, I quite like it). And as someone who is part of the medical field, reading the medical jargons in this novel is enough to make me happy. It was well thought out, in my opinion, because even the male pregnancy part is realistically explained to be a phenomenon that can happen (but well, not in real life ok, no matter which angle you look at).

And their snu-snu time is not overly exaggerated, with just the right amount of sprinkled fluff. But the best part for me is the realization, acceptance, and love of the characters that made me fall in love with this novel. It was quite a journey that made me shed a few tears.

I know some will not like Jiang Xu for being pragmatic but that's what also made him genuine. Not just to me but also to Shen Fangyu. The journey towards their happy ending wasn't smooth but all I can say is, whatever emotions they were going through the whole story, will also reel you to feel the same way.

I know there's also a side story of the supposedly side couple but they didn't really leave an impression that would pique my curiosity as to how they got together. So maybe that's the only downside.

To be honest this is the very first time I've written a review this long. This is not even an overview of the plot but rather just my honest feelings after I've finished reading the book.

I also haven't quoted a novel in such a long time but there is one line in this book that hit me most.

"Opportunities is given to those who are prepared."

Not just in this book but also in real life. No matter where you are or what you do. <<less

Yes like sumii said in her review, I also don't understand flower language. Lol. The only thing that the story lack is a good s*x scene. So that's a two star minus. That aside, it was a decent story. I need recommendations guys, stories with good plot that has s*x scene. You can dm please. I don't mind even if it's just one scene and of course it should have a happy ending. Kudos to the translator.

Slow burn romance between MC and ML in a medical setting with the plot developing gradually through the whole story. Very good character development and growth as the story progressed. Realistic developments and reactions throughout the story. If you are looking for drama or action, this novel is not for you.

I was pleasantly surprised that it was not a ABO novel. The pregnancy was explained through scientific medical explanations. The medical jargon was interesting but, as I am not a medical professional, I can not say if it is accurate... more>> or not.

The part that bothered me was the racism and stereotype of the doctors from the different country. The doctors with English names were given stereotypical personalities and villian roles while Chinese main cast was praised and were in the right.
Spoiler

The police was written to be incompetent not able to do their jobs. M country was written as a dangerous place where you need to protect yourself. The Caucasian driver was robbed but needed the ML, who was also robbed, to assist him and give him charity. Both of the doctors are arrogant and the protagonists take them down a notch. Both ML and MC need to go through with the surgery because it will give prestige to their country.

[collapse]
Without this part, the story would have been a high 4 or a 5 in rating.

The ending of the novel was sudden and I believe that the author should have made the end of the story up to extra 3 instead of the ending they have picked. With the extras, the novel feels complete.

I enjoyed reading it. Thank you author and translator. <<less

There was so many plot holes and romance was eh alright

To be honest the novel wasn't that good. I would read it a second time nor would I recommend you to read this. Go read a better novel that has less plot holes.

OMG, I JUST LOVE THIS STORY!!!!

The writing is very excellent. Like other readers already mentioned, all the terminologies and medical conditions, really sound legit. And the writing of the medical part just show that the writer probably did a good job in researching. The story delivery is very neat and interesting. Gosh, I just don't have enough vocabulary to praise this novel. The plot is well developed, the relationship between both MC and ML is very interesting. I particularly love the emotional aspects of the story, how it's written (I... more>> don't know how it is written in Chinese, but the translation is pretty good and the meaning well received), it's just fantastic. The writing can be said mature, especially some of the emotional part really feel like they are alive. The most interesting part is when the writer heavily referencing to bunch of chinese poems, old dramas, tales and even idioms which kudo to the translator for the explanation to every single one of them. It's not that easy to explain the context.

But, to say the story without flaw is a bit exaggerating. The story itself is a bit cliche. There are some places where it get quite boring, and the some of the situation seems really exaggerating. But it's a story, how can there be no story without drama. There is no villain in this story, everyone is harmonious.

Overall the story definitely deserved to be a lot of people favourite. The story setting is in the current timeline, the story itself is as realistic as it can be as a webnovel written by a writer from a socialist country. The insert of some nationalism element is very fresh. Though some of the projection, or I'd say aspiration of the writer thought is well delivered. I very much enjoy this story!! <<less

This is my first time reading a medical novel. Although this is fiction, I love how the medical aspects are accurate (except for the mpreg part) and the hospital setting is very accurate, even the part about stealing pens from colleagues ;D. Absolutely loved this and felt this was much better than watching those medical dramas and TV series. In dramas you see doctors being overly dramatic but the novel depicts how level-headed doctors become in case of an emergency.

Also, the TL did a good job! Thankyou!

I'm quite surprised by how good this was! I cl**ked on this wanting to read a low-effort, face-slapping, mpreg novel only to be met with angst, slow-burn rivals to lovers, discussion of queer relationships in the backdrop of China, and medical jargons that sounds quite right for the context of the modern world. I actually learned a lot about Chinese queer people.

I'm blown and I highly recommend. The gong is too funny lmao. The nationalism part is icky, but honestly I didn't care much.

I'm really touched with how the story goes. First of all, I'm the type who doesn't like 'one night stand' cliche but this novel is just really good that I can't help but want more of the characters.

Gotta agree with everyone that the ML's character is refreshing. I love how the author inserts their past relationship whenever the situation at present reminds them of their younger selves.

Also love the fact that they didn't use much emphasis of the girl they pursue at the beginning of the story. Definitely worth the... more>> read!

One thing I love most is how they focus on the male pregnancy topic. The conflicting feelings Jiang Xu had when he decided to keep the baby. I also love the scene when he first noticed his stomach's portruding slowly due to being pregnant. His psychological shadow when he's bearing a child even though he's a man, I cried at that. I also love how Shen Fangyu cares about Jiang Xu during his pregnancy period. Obviously, I love both of them. <<less

Oh wow, that was good! The things here are not what I actually expected, I thought it would be a lighthearted kinda enemies with fluff all around, which it kinda is, but it is unexpectedly mature and adult-like.

I love the way how their minds works, their cold fights, uncertainties, misunderstanding and then finally their sweet resolve. It's a slow burn so it might be a long way there but definitely worth it to read. I love how they trust each other with their lives despite their years of being rivals,... more>> and I love how they love. So good! <<less

This novel has one of the best MC and ML I've read so far. And I READ A LOT of danmei novels. They're not perfect as a human but oh God they are very well written and good character development.

I also love the part of the patients Ren Miao and Ren Han

What attracted me to this novel is the rivals to lovers plot line, and I enjoyed that aspect of the story. But I was pleasantly surprised by the realistic depiction of what happens to a straight man, mentally and physically, when he discovers that he is pregnant. It’s a great story of how he and the baby’s father figure out their relationship in light of the pregnancy, and dealing with family, finances, and social acceptance.

For the romance, the MC was a little too cold for my taste but overall it’s... more>> sweet once they are together. The MC is just not the lovey-dovey type but he shows his love in other ways. I actually really liked the ML character probably because he seems more accessible.

The only negatives are the nationalistic fervor that appears abruptly and seems out of place in the story, and the anonymous countries that are later named. Clearly, the author has a dislike for a certain country.

For the plot and storytelling, I would rate this around 4 stars. However, it’s such an interesting perspective and different take from most mpreg novels so rounding up to 5 stars. <<less

It's worth reading. The plot is good. The flow is kinda slow. The support characters are more interesting than the main cp. I don't feel the love between the main cp. For me the chemistry is Meh. I don't regret reading this. But absolutely not into my list, but maybe this is to your liking.

If you ignore the whole biological man giving birth to a child thing, this is a very well-written book about two, mature men falling in love. About the struggles for sam-s*x couples to gain the approval of colleagues, family, and the law. About how couples like these find loopholes in laws to benefit one another, and how they raise children together when they're not officially married. Plus, interesting stuff about patient confidentiality when writing scientific papers.

Nothing but love for this novel. MC and ML are both amazing characters.

I love how sweet they are with each other, they both have ways of really conveying their love.

Their love is really refreshing, usually we get alot of angst when enemies turn lovers, but we don't and I am glad, really glad. They communicate with each other when there's a problem. We can really see in reality how their love came by step by step. The feeling isn't just a flip of a switch or because just because the... more>> pregnancy. There's memories and being competitive with other. They really were the type to know each other really well because they are similar with each other, I think all rivals should fall in love like this haha so good, so I ship them so badly. Usually I am not over optismitic with this type of things. But I can't help they really are a good couple, couple goals for sure. One is aloof and cool like the moon, the other is good at talking, bright like the sun.

I like how others doesn't know about their secret and watch them being fools, haha I always like when us the readers know more than the characters.

Also I love their professionalism, and we really get to see how doctors face their patients and relatives. I love getting insights and stories on each patient and the way the MC and ML help them and see how they solve their struggles. I am so glad to see alot of different perspectives. The Mpreg storyline was taking care of so carefully and beautfifully pro to the others. ALot of details and alot of care, I feel the emotions the MC went through and praying for him every step of the way.

Highly recommend everybody to have a read at this. You will like this couple immensely <<less
