I wouldn't recommend this to anyone as it's been discontinued and not worth a read atm.
-------------------
Quite frankly, it's bad. The story itself isn't terrible. It's unremarkable and indistinguishable from tons if other reincarnation LN's but it isn't a bad concept at all- which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. The problem lies with the writing. It's awful. The author idea and reuses a bunch of template scenes and throws in random misunderstandings, but it's not done in a unique or interesting way at all. Even worse, the way the author sets up the scenes is downright painful. It's like watching one of the Final Destination movies; a long string of coincidences has to happen just to show some other misunderstanding. Either that, or the MC literally has to avoid showing even the bare minimum of common sense to end up in the situations he does.
Example 1:
when noble boy Carl tries to threaten MC and the MC just so happens to have his ears plugged by water that was just spilled on his head. Ignoring the fact that he didn't try to clear his ears before engaging in conversation, the MC just so happens to hear select words that cause him to draw the wrong conclusion.
The story starts on a tragic note, death at a young age due to illness and abandoned as a prince when he is reincarnated. The whole first half of the story is a him living in a state of isolation in the castle while he is training his magic. Which is done in a quite interesting and receptive way, as the 'doll prince' who has no emotions. The character of the prince himself is quite interesting and deceptive of his outward appearance with this kind of naive curiously and energy.
However, the second half of the story goes down hill. Full of plot wholes in a span of a few chapters the character and setting are thrown away completely for the generic Japanese protag -kun, who is super dense and naive with lackluster situational comedy thrown in. It's like the author instead of going from A->B decided to go from A->Z with no clear direction of the story, which is understandable why this story was discontinued.
Everyone is originally convinced that he's some sort of doll, rather than a human being, and at some point his retainer, Matthias, realized that El might have been aware since infancy. BUT NOTHING HAPPENS! Nothing at all, no one ever questions how smart El is, why he was so emotionless, or how he can use ice magic.
