I made an account just for this novel. I have been following this series for +4 years. There is an unfathomable amount of devotion that I will continue to dedicate just to await patiently for another update every so years. This novel is my most begrudged favorite on this site. My taste in novels is forever changed due to this novel. If there was such a moment for a person to judge the quality of my list fully, I would ask them first of their opinions on this novel to know whether or not their opinions had any validity. The story begins with a college student getting reincarnated into an RPG game. The I-Am-Reincarnated-Into-The-Villain, subversion genre who is desperately trying to change the game's events so he doesn't meet his doom. There is something about the simplicity of the story mixed together with the juxtaposition of the genre that immediately draws me into the beginning. Harold's inevitable changes and slow plight into trying to prevent the world's destruction, the desperation and despair he feels trying to fight against fate, but also in his constant weariness around the "death flags" leading to his demise-- there was also those who he helped improve their situations, who remember him as harsh but ultimately kind. 

There's a misunderstanding trope of constantly saying horrible things whenever he opens his mouth that's just a light balm of hilarity overlaying the amount of distress he feels at any given moment. This man is so overwhelmed with stress at literally any point that he has been training for 10 hours nonstop every single day since he was 10 to be able to be strong enough to fight. He is so consumed by the worry of surviving that he hasn't even noticed the fiancé he's so desperate to divorce has actually fallen in love with him and has been slowly pining after him into adulthood. He's still convinced she hates him. He thinks he's depowered the original party since they didn't gain the experience they would've had if they defeated him, so he gives them expensive equipment and unites the full party early, then gets surprised when his fiancé learned a completely earthshattering spell that she was only supposed to know at the endgame. It's so funny. 

There's also a subtle and vague mentions of the original Harold's demise and the type of character he was before he got replaced, and some mysteries involving the type of research that the End Boss was doing, the sword that Harold is now using that sucks his life force until he only has 2 years left to live, and the "Original Harold" somehow still being in the body. The world moves around Liner's party, and Harold is getting up to his own shenanigans.  <<less

You can tell that the author has completely devoted themselves to the expansion of the world, truly plotting about characters and situations. The reader has a feeling that there are constantly two layers in this world, the original future and Cale's involving world. It's vaguely mentioned that it becomes a tragedy without Cale's reincarnation, and recontextualizes every single one of his interactions where he wholeheartedly saves people without a second thought. 

The hilarity of the novel comes from the misunderstandings of the protagonist, where everyone wants him to become a hero but Cale is just so determined to settle down and be lazy. It's highlighted in every single one of his perspective that he just wants to settle down, meanwhile he forces himself to do the all grueling task of completely saving a continent from total disaster and preventing possible future calamities left and right. This protagonist is not a normal one, and it becomes evident that even he is not some average guy who died and reincarnated, though those reveals are slowly drip-fed along the adventures that the group faces. 

The writing is mostly tell>show, but it's hilarious because there's simply too much content that has been fleshed out in the books.  <<less

Multiple scenes of them going before combat listing out in a back and forth... more>> of the enemies weaknesses, personal information, and history in the hearing range of the enemies and it's just hilarious how surprised and offended those enemies become. The romance is quite good, I especially appreciate how it doesn't retract from the world calamity that these two are trying to prevent, and I like how they are both shown as teenagers but also NEETs/Rotton Waters and nothing is more important than that. The understanding of gaming terms and calling one of the ice generals Elsa made me laugh. The misunderstanding that leads to people calling them the Romeo and Juliet of the nation and run away together to elope, despite already being engaged, is just hilarious. Purposefully using that misunderstanding to stop world events, disasters, and eventually the opening of the Demon Doors is even more funny. Never stop, both of them are amazing and now I desperately need more double transmigration stories. <<less

It's similar to the tr*sh of the Count's Family, if you want a gist of what the vibe might be like. 

Just don't go into this expecting PWP, because the writing focuses on the emotions of the characters and how this progresses their relationship. Eastern Omegaverse is more centered around fated mates / soulmates in comparison to Western, which puts more of an emphasis on the animalistic desires.  Some may call it a slowburn because they only kiss at chapter 200 or whatever, but in my eyes the romance progressed extremely fast in relation to the plot, it's just that there's more action adventure with romance occasionally sprinkled in.  <<less

have you ever wanted the feeling of being put into a highspeed train station that is going every direction at once, but when you look at the passage it's going from it's planned destination it's only 2% of the way there. everything is perfect, besides the bad translation quality in which case waffles -> library key translations -> novelmultiverse/other sites. the exposition is initially hard to wade through due to the korean linguistical/cultural/mythological terms you have to familiarize yourself with (which is why most translators struggle with this novel), the cast of characters who are all very fleshed out with their own interconnecting subplots and relationships, and the pure amount of mysteries there are that... more>> are introduced with every plot thread. i swear to god the amount of foreshadowing, checkovs guns, and clues that are placed but never brought up again until 50 chapters later when the main character figures it out after the current plot thread is finished makes me want to desperately ask how the hell everything in the plot structure so organized. for someone who is a first year student at magical monster school he is already so involved in this interconnecting web of the world that im at a loss for words seeing how far he's progressed. i mentioned it the train station analogy, and i want to reiterate a comparison of the plot progression to one piece. you expect the main character to avert a situation that causes future disaster later down the line and he does, but then he also encounters an unexplainable clue related to a conspiracy that slowly spirals into a facet of the world and you and him realize just how little prior information you knew about what this world had to offer. the day that all of it's information is going to be explained in the final ending wrapped up in a small little bow is the day I will cheer. 

the main character's 10 year game knowledge of the events also isn't perfect. 

don't come into this novel expecting a self sacrificial protagonist like kim dokja or cale, because while he's traumatized the protagonist of this novel has a healthy amount of self respect for his body and his life.  <<less
