Although the in*est shite is very prevalent, I learned to ignore their mischiefs and focused on the amazing world building. Of course, like many fantasy novels, there is a magic system. But the charm of Mahouka Koukou, is that the magic system is very scientific. The magic explanation makes sense to educated individuals (mostly scientists or physicists).

I initially read the novel after watching the anime. The anime left out a majority of the explanations kf magic. So reading the novel was a good decision. Although the story began to not make sense after a few volumes (imho), I've already sunk enough time to stop reading it. Sunk cost phallacy. <<less

The world-building of this story is a really great achievement of the authors. The items, events, quests, locations, and races of this world have a great foundation and can be easily understood through the explanations. It makes you say 'Ah, that makes sense' when they introduce a new element.
