[!] Toxic relationship trying to be depicted as not, Batsh*t crazy ML

Personal Rating: 2 / 5
I have a grudge with this novel. In that, I dislike the important settings [the main relationship/the relationships development/the relationship dynamic/the MC&ML], but became really invested in the background settings [the original Shen Qingqiu/the original Shen Qingqiu's backstory/a lot of the side-characters] and ended up reading the whole thing.
It's a story where the things I liked I really liked, but the things I disliked I really disliked.
I got s*upidly invested in the original Shen Qingqiu and his unintentional/never-to-be-explored-because-someone-stole-his-body character-depth that I ended up reading the whole novel even though I found the main pairing's relationship toxic and the MC uninteresting. I was genuinely more invested in the side-characters and the background plots than the development of the main relationship, and a story this not-to-my-taste has no right to have such a compelling character that isn't even rightfully a character.
I know a lot of people like this novel [I mean that rating says a lot], and I think that's fair enough because the novel certainly kept my attention, but probably not for the reasons it meant to. I really like the world the author built, but I don't really like the contents of the world.
Basically, I read a lot of fanfiction based off this piece so I felt a bit compelled to stick it in my list.
