These novels are a bit deranged, but in a very realistic sense. The main CP has either believable coping mechanisms, or mental illnesses based on their past. There isn't an ML or MC who was abused that got revenge "all according to plan" with no mental issues (basically the MC or ML pays a price from the beginning and only gets their just rewards after fighting tooth and nail for it). There is fluff but its an angsty fluff and a oof-ouch-pain feeling when they need to support each other.
