Nothing much too say. Everything that I wanted to say has already been covered by the other reviews.

I enjoyed this novel for the first 350 or so chapters. It was repetitive but was still fun to read.

I started getting bored at that point, but seeing that it was one of the first novel's I've been reading, I forced my to get to read upto 490 or something. But the s*upidity bugged me off a little too much.

I understand that a a game novel will naturally involve grinding and quests, hence... more>> the story will keep getting repeated, but does that mean they will repeat the same jokes again and again and again?!! The story keeps mentioning the female leads double D b**bs, keeps repeating the same joke about how a certain character will be unable to get a girlfriend because of his ugly face and how OP the MC is. Every time the MC fights, his team mates will be like.... Oh God!! His attack is so high. Blah blah.

The s*upidity became even more later. The MC gets attacked by a rival guild while he and his team are doing a high tier quest. They manage to beat them back, but seeing that their enemy will definitely come back again, a suggestion to call the guild for reinforcements is made. But the MC is like No. We can handle it. And then he with a 10 man team annihilate more 10, 000 players of the enemy guild, with brute force, no strategy.

Did I mention that the enemy guild is supposedly one of the top guilds? Yet they can't defeat even 10 players. Nonsense..... <<less

This has to be the worse CN I have ever read in my life, lets start with the game aspect, since when was it that virtual reality has no dodging like in real life, the game is suppose to be 90%+ like reality besides the fantasy aspect so why is it that the MC a person who has train in Qi and is also a soldier of sort cannot dogde a bunch of noobs online that have never had the chance to even hold a sword or fight for real,... more>> the game aspect of the virtual reality transforms into something akin to Pokemon, somehow you cant deflect nor dogde, just attack then let your enemy attack you, basically the whole novel is about who has the most power, it takes no skills just attack and attack. IMO the author should have mention the game is about 10% reality not 90%+ since in reality you can atleast counter, dodge, and use experience fighting tactics, sad to say it but this is the only Virtual reality novel that actually makes its MC weaker in the game than in real life, is really sad, did no one tell this author what a bad idea this was?

PS. Worse Virtual reality game novel ever created. Stay away <<less

This story had a lot of potential, but as it chugs along there is a lot of 'WTF this makes no sense' moments. Super powerful ex SWAT team member using chinese battle Qi methods... is homeless and needs a job. Finds a job but plays games all day but is still super handsome, fit, good looking. Sleeping in a park bench to playing games in a capsule, but still manages to get all the ladies. I don't even want to list all the s*upid sh*t the game does or how... more>> ridiculous the skills and equipment are. Even the plot will not make any sense at times. Easy to browse since there are a ton of chapters, but you'll just facepalm yourself all the time with this story. <<less

At first, it's a pretty decent novel, nothing extremely good about that stands out, maybe the character interactions between the main female and male lead are nice.

Then, as the story goes on, it changes from a rather light hearted novel about farming, to a full on novel about some bullsh*t wars. Well, not really wars, because the MC manages to save the day pretty much singlehandedly. This is because of how he gains OP skills and abuses a hidden system that most people don't know about to no end. The system itself appears to need skill, and his real life martial arts abilities just happens so to be the same system. It's not well written at all.

At the end, it just gets weird. Really f*cking weird and badly written.

The level of descriptive writing the author has isn't that high, and it isn't forgiven by how his scenarios and general plot is all over the place and doesn't really make sense.

All in all, I hated myself for finishing it.

I liked it at the beginning, but then it became repetitive and then I realize nobody is going to die in this novel, good or bad. Therefore, there is no real tension. Later in the story, some random side story comes into play, and it becomes a little bit more prevalent for no reason. The author describes the female leads' appearance almost every time they appear. The MC spends over 12-18 hours playing the game, but somehow has time to hang out with some of the ladies in the real... more>> world and he has a side job as a cop with his full-time bodyguard duties, oh and he still has time to attends class. -1/5 Stars

I agree with what the other reviewers have said: this novel was kind of clever, occasionally, but it is incredibly, disgustingly repetitive. Like yeah, blah blah blah the MC is as OP as usual. BUT does literally every f*cking boss fight have to be a copy-paste of people being like "Pfft, he can't do that. Bro, how is he doing that?" as the MC smacks the boss with his incredibly massive wank-spear? No. Would a GOOD story repeat, for effect, long chains of random numbers that increase by one... more>> digit in length with every boss fight, followed by the exact same commentary? No. Would a good story exhaustively describe every female character, while adding no details for any other character? No. Would a good story's side characters be only as interesting as inflatable tube-men with "Enemy?? Ally??" written on their face? No.

Basically, if you want to waste a lot of your time reading about a random Chinese guy playing a game and beating everyone up, read the moderately better "The King's Avatar, " hosted on the same site as this piece of tr*sh. <<less

In the beginning I thought they story would be interesting. The MC started the game with a new style, which others see as tr*sh. Later the story became a bit repetive and that means so much for me like:"every 10 chapter is nearly the same, so what will happen in the next hundreds of chapter? Sometimes it's good to boast around and being op in the sight of others, but for me it seems rather boring.

I have evaluated it with 2/5. It could have been worse that's for sure, but... more>> I don't know in what for a margin.

I have read some of the reviews & I agree to some while I disagree to others. Well mostly yeah it kinda gets repetitive but what do you expect its wuxia/Chinese novel, why I like a few wuxia/xianxia novels so I already accepted the fact that there tends to be a repetition to the flow of the story..

The tr*sh->then cultivate->beat others above your level->get called a genius->offend someone from same family->beat em'up->then cultivate again-> then offend other people from bigger sect->then beat em'up again->get called a genius->insert some TINY romantic... more>> subplot-> rinse & repeat from cultivate

Well I kinda agree that it repeats a lot of the same jokes more the ten times.. In my opinion if you plan to read this you should read this by arc, don't start reading until the arc is translated/over..

for those saying its nonsense, I kinda agree but at the same time I don't, I agree its nonsense for the female players (no offense & I'm not sexist) even if its VR I don't think that the female players are able to endure the countless hours of killing other players, unless something is wrong with their brains I mean its VR so there's a lot of gore & stressful playing I'm having a hard time imagining them playing for 10+ hours of killing; I disagree especially when the 10 vs 10, 000 players because its VR, STATS makes the difference well I can only say this because I have played the disgaea series.. If you played it you can feel that higher STATS really make you OP, here's what you can call nonsense -> https://www. Youtube. Com/watch?v=VI6lNkH4hPk

read mtl upto c1176

around ch600 I stopped reading this for awhile so I can binge read it then reading it till the latest chapter it wasn't enough so I started reading the mtl. I'm actually sad that this novel isn't really getting a good rating. This novel is actually good in my opinion (maybe it's just me being biased since this is the first web novel I've read). Although it can't be called perfect or great this is enough not to be called bad or worse. I know there are a lot of plot holes or plot that has been forgotten but which novel doesn't have these? It's just in ZL it's more plain obvious than the others.

Right now I still stand to say that this is a good novel even though some jokes kept being repeated for awhile but later on in the country wars the novel actually begins to get better slightly.

Still for me this novel deserves a 4/5, will update when I finished reading until last chapter. <<less

Damn... how could a novel with such an exciting beginning become a total joke... Zhan long had a very interesting concept, likeable MC, and side characters, but author decided to ruin everything... Plot began to regress after 200-250 chapters. Same battles with the same people, same worlds to the same beautiful girls, and let's keep going and going... Let's not talk about how that makes about 0 sense. Instead, let's consider the fact that rather than going ballistic, he just accepts it. But god help you if you try to hit on the woman he's guarding.

Nothing in this novel makes sense. It started out fairly well, but the female leads start to get bland quickly, and the MC has plot armor thicker than a tank. In less than 150 chapters, it's already become a bland web novel that's low on originality and makes use of the same lazy tropes that so many web novels before it have used as a crutch for poor pacing and lack of an actual plot. <<less

I really enjoyed reading this at the beginning but as you progress throughout the story it becomes more and more repetitive and the plot holes just grow into a ditch for the author to throw the plot in. The MC is a mercenary who becomes the female leads bodyguard to protect her in real life and in game. BUT, in the game the female lead ends up saving him on multiple occasions and in real life his is inept at his job and constantly leaves her unattended to work on... more>> his game studio and do police work (which I'll get into later). The biggest problem with this novel is the MC, he is unrealistically righteous and a hypocrite. Seeing how he used to kill people for a living I don't understand why he feels the urge to help every single person he sees.

The real life side plots are a chore to go through and absurd. SWAT are morons and antagonists are forgettable. Not to mention that the female lead's dad is a twit. He outright states that he doesn't want the MC and female lead to develop a romantic relationship and then immediately proceeds to drug the MC with an experimental drug which would make him fall in love with her using the excuse of 'if you love her you will protect her with your life'.

The author is obsessed with b**bs and legs feeling the need to include a description about them every couple of chapters. Character development has been minimal and romantic development feels completely tacked on and quite frankly just gives you a tease, there is a harem but you won't remember anyone outside of the female lead and her best friend. The RNG system in the game is broken, the MC's luck stat is far ahead of anyone else's in order to justify his ridiculous rolls (he rarely gets any bad dice rolls). The PvP is interesting but somewhat unbelievable since the author does forget about some of the MC's skills and in later part of the novel the MC can straight up mow down players in one hit.

If you have nothing else to read then give this a go, just lower your expectations before you do. <<less

I've been reading this novel since 2015, I was 11 back then. f*ck me I was blind, I made an effort to re-read the entire novel up to recent and I f*cking regret wasting my time.

This author has one hundred percent not playing a single game which is multiplayer in his life. He often times exaggerates player base for each server (for some reason instead of giving Europe one server, he gave them a shitton of servers for each country...

He gives India/China a player base of hundreds of millions (these gear cost 200+ dollars and definitely would not attract a fraction of that number) and for some interesting reason there's a shitton of women playing it... I wonder why

It might sound sexist, but I for one cannot imagine millions of women in (2017 when the game is released) grinding a game for hours onto hours, onto days (for this game, real life does not exist because somehow the game makes millions of people fight in a quest for literally a day straight). I get it, there's gamer girls and they're extremely talented, but bro ain't no way 90% of such a game won't be men.

the MC is f*cking dumb idk how he got a girlfriend. There's some cultivation subplot which is supposed to "juice" up the storyline, but it's honestly garbage and I don't get how he maintains his martial arts and sh*t when he SPENDS ALL DAY IN A GAME.

There's times when he gets wounded and doesnt log on for a week straight and he still somehow recovers vs people who've been grinding all that time.

Gamers know that in a new game, if you go missing for a week you can say your top class goodbye, it's over for you.

Then there's this other incident where Macha betrays MC, and they nonchalantly forgive her about it because... she's a valuable member of Zhan Long which is f*cking bullshit, she caused people's blood and sweat for half a year to go to waste.

The author is completely deluded and everyone besides the MC is inferior, even his "rivals" get outshined eventually after an arc or two, heck even his "friends" basically only exist for comedic relief.

Overall, this story being a 3 star is generous because it doesnt even give the game a good portrayal, it's basically a game in name only because these NPC are essentially actual existing beings, I wouldn't be surprised if this game is an actual alternative world.

Unlike others who feel the need to talk about other shite VR novels in their reviews instead of reviewing this one (I guess they're too s*upid) I'll talk about this one.

Was mildly interesting but considering who the author was it didn't take long for them to f*ck the novel up.

A lot of inconsistencies in the novel. Say a quest takes MC and friends somewhere to kill a boss, enemy players usually show up for no other reason other than to try to steal it even though it's a quest... more>> boss which shouldn't be allowed to be stolen by people who aren't in the party as the person who received said quest (simple Gaming rules, who'd play a game where any boss can be stolen no matter what)

What takes the cake is how the MC is on a quest that is inside an instance dungeon zone, so if you don't have quest and are in the party then you won't be able to get in and such right? (Anyone who played WoW and other such games should know) Wrong, Apparently groups of enemy players happen to know where they are at (Never said how nor explained) and manage to follow them in while they are killing said boss. This is not a one time thing either, happens multiple times with them also destroying the ground to get where they are at. They always know where MC is at like they have a tracking device up his ass.

Romance, expect many girls to like him for no reason. A 3 year old writes better romance.

Characters: God they are so s*upid, don't even know how to play their class, having to be told by MC who is a different class how to play said class.

MC: not going to talk about his reality section since that's just full of bullshit, Played a game before this one came out and was ranked in the millions or worse I believe yet manages to rank in top 10 in this one for absolutely no reason other than plot armor. <<less

I think this is one of the most incoherent novel I've ever read. I don't even understand what the author is trying to go for. Firstly, the protagonist is a ex-Special Agent/SWAT member. His attitude barely reflects that aside from his seemingly professionalism regarding his job. It seems too easy for him to get angry at some of the most little of things but apparently he has a very high patience/tolerance level?

He opts for a STR/Healer but the author doesn't even bother explaining what other stats does and just assumes... more>> we know what they do. I'm pretty sure in every single game out there, raising some stat like Spirit increases how well heals do. Furthermore, I can't tell if this is an actual VR game or just a game that requires a VR headset to play a game like WoW/FFXIV. He's ex-Special Forces, trained in martial arts to a very high degree, and yet none of that is present in the game; having to rely on innate passive effects to actually gain Evasion so is this a actual VR game or a traditional MMORPG? No idea!

The idea of a STR/Healer is also highly illogical as well. Going back to whether this game is a VR/point-and-click game, since healers generally wear the weakest of armor, they gain skills for defensive purposes but thus far it doesn't seem present in this game. So they should be relying on personal skill to evade but Evasion is a innate passive skill that needs to be discovered!

OP pet is OP literally.

The romance inserts...

Conveniently every single good drop fits into the current situation! He needs a weapon? Drops a STR weapon. He needs a gift for someone? Drops a piece of equipment that specifically is good for that person at that moment. What about the other gear that drops? Ignored.

Explain to me how this random common enemy drops a high tier weapon? You can't! That's not how games work! Take for instance his very first Green-tier weapon, average grade in this story, is dropped from a common enemy. Excuse me but a game boosting about a high realism as a feature and this is what occurs? Usually good quality equipment are dropped from the more uncommon/rare/unique enemy types but nope, just from a common enemy.

This is all really perspective but the thing that annoys me most is the choice of class the MC/author makes. A healer without proper equipment, let alone even keeping someone alive, isn't even worth mentioning in any game. The MC's heals can basically top off anyone by just leveling up the skill and he isn't even using equipment or having stats into Healing, that is ridiculous. <<less

One of the 3 big chinese vrmmo novels.

The first is king's avatar. this one is for you guys who like to read about a protag who demolishes armies alone. he is literally the strongest player and he will wreck thousands of players alone. the fights are good because you already know the MC will never lose. sadly there is no romance. there really isn't anything else to write about this novel because it's just MC destroy your record, MC destroy your guild, MC KS your boss, MC win all competition... more>> and MC win national and world championship.

Second the rebirth of the legendary guardian. this protag dies a few times but after that, he creates a super guild and never ever loses again. he wins every big event and gets a gazillion dollars that he lives in luxury. the fights here are LONG. if you like LONG and descriptive fights, this is for you. but it does boring after a few hundred chapters because at that point, you don't really care about how the MC defeats XXX boss anymore cus he's already defeated so many of them.

The romance here is good at first but it becomes brainless later... he aims for the girl he lost before the time reset but he realizes that he'll always be 2nd in her heart so he gives her up. the best girl, like any modern girl is not okay with a harem but logic is quickly thrown away because he's the MC and he gets all the girls he want.

After 600 chapters or so, you will wonder why you are still reading this novel and you really cant give a reason other than the little cute girl but you will tire out quickly because it's just MC+gang fighting XX boss...

The guild he builds somehow runs itself and he stays billionaire...... even with rules like 'you cannot use the guild chat channel'..... the MC becomes so OP so fast and nothing can be done to fix him. the author himself ended the story because there is nothing that can stop the MC anymore.

Then we have zhan long. this one is the most realistic mmo. the MC dies alot. theres no way he can 1v1000... he has an advantage because his martial arts teacher was the one who designed the combat in the game so no need to cry about his advantage. it's a no brainer that a boxer will get a bigger advantage in a boxing game compared to a muay thai practitioner.. if you can't accept this then you need to grow up.

There is romance but it doesn't develop. it is frustrating. there are other girls who like him but he only focuses on the girl he cant get so no harem.

So far, I like zhan long the most, it isn't ridiculous and we see the MC struggle alot.

Some say there is also 'the world online' and it is a good read so far but there is no RL element because RL becomes the game. his sister is written off as going to a cyber school and never appearing, his girlfriend stays on a mountain in his territory and never comes down to see him too. his friends is shoved into a workshop in his country and he only looks for them when he needs work done. <<less

I'll say the story is readable but gets very boring sometimes, but despite the number of chapters, it lacks a LOT of things. Actually, it's this long because of many uninterresting plot points.

What irritated me the most is :

1- The real world is part of the story but is often neglected.

2- You don't teach how to play a certain class to other players that went through dozens of levels, AND RIGHT BEFORE ENTERING THE WAR!!!
I mean seriously, the dude (don't remember if it's the protag) is a... more>> swordsman and he looks back and say "Tanks, your job is to TANK! As for healers, listen carefully, ok? Your job... is... to... HEAL!!

3- Classes shouldn't be able to use equipment not for suitable for their type: priests shouldn't be able to wield a sword. And even if the game allows that, there should be many demerits in doing so, such as stats growth.
Now, let's say we can distribute aquired stat points as we like and put everything into physical stats like strength or endurance. What happens to your healing spell? It doesn't grow with you that's what happens. Say at level 10 it heals you by 50%. When you reach level 50, you'll be lucky if you get 5% out of it.

4- Health is just too damn low. And stats are WAY too unbalanced.

5- You can't solo bosses, that's an iron clad rule. They drop powerful items so they're made hard to defeat in a group let alone soloing it. In The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, the protag can solo bosses by using extreme tactics to deal heavy damage and using pets and other NPCs to assist.
Spoiler

It's not realistic in the LEAST to just "hang around" for HOURS and shave the boss' health a tiny bit at a time.

This novel is very much a tease. This novel follows the carrot-on-a-stick model that many Japanese LN also utilize. We as readers are being teased with showcases of the amazing martial prowess that the MC has in real life, but in the Virtual world he only gain a slight perk, Truly disappointing. The Romance/Harem goes nowhere it is simply a tease, there is a bit of development between the main heroine and the protagonist, but it is lack luster and not very interesting. The game world is also too restrictive,... more>> the combat could have been made so the MC could actually utilize his martial prowess, but this is nearly a turn based rpg type VRMMO. Although it is explained as a nearly turn-based RPG. The Author explains the combat as a normal VRMMORPG should be, but because of the restrictions of the turn-based parts, the MC cannot use his martial prowess to it's full potential, all he is left with is his quick wits and soldier mind. Also while the Heroine has a supernatural power? It breaks my heart when the author tries to make the a character interesting by breaking the rules he set himself. It is true that some people can somewhat achieve the power that she has got, but clearly not to the godlike extent that she has. It doesn't take the brightest mind to understand that her power is clearly too overpowered and unbalanced, while the MC's gear gets nerfed at some point because it is OP? The author is not really consistent with the content that he introduces, which is understandable as the novel has to be interesting and fresh (which he doesn't achieve very well). The good parts of this novels is progress of the MC and his team (/Guild) as they level up and gear up for /harder challenges and event. However this is also pretty repetitive. If the reader wants a more clear view of a competitive I would suggest reading 'King's Avatar' instead. However, ZL is a very light read and comfortable to binge read, it might not be the most unique novel but it does what it sets out to do well. The fights are awesome and grand, while the overall combat tactics is pretty well explained and doesn't hinder the pace of the story too much. I will give this story about 3/5 simply out of respect of the writing quality of the author, because he actually set out to do an action packed novel with a fast pace. And it has indeed been achieved, it is not obscure in any way. A quick reminder is also that this is VR novel, which not many authors has accomplished in the past (to be truly representative of the Gaming community in real life.) Although the author didn't accomplish this it is still fairly well done and deserves the attentation that is has achieved. While it will never be the best, it is certainly not horrible either. Have a good read! <<less

For a story based around VRMMORPG, The story takes itself too seriously. It is quite obvious that the author, once upon a time was a gamer or has some knowledge in gaming. But considering that this is futuristic VR game with apparently 90% realism (don't get what it means) the entire VR game is designed in way in which MMO games were in early 2000s, promoting hogging of resources, boss stealing or loot stealing. Nowadays games are not designed like that. If u have played guild wars or new MMO... more>> games that u know what I am talking about. Anyways, author focuses on too many things at the same time and it gets hard to understand whether it is a slice of life or is there some greater plot behind the scenes. IMO this LN is a good filler material when you're waiting for some other LNs.

For better options within same genre (VRMMORPG or real world with game elements) I would recommend Legendary moonlight sculptor, Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, The Amber Sword or Gate of revelation. <<less

The idea was great, a combat healer, but the author doesn't have much in the creative department in his head, so along the way he becomes a typical Chinese warrior. As such the story has no tension, no humor, no interesting characters, no character development or interesting plot. So I can only recommend this as mindless dibble to read.
