When a Master of Metaphysics Marries into a Wealthy Family

Description

Shen Ye has transmigrated. The original owner was a completely pitiful one. His mother was mu*dered by his biological father and his mistress, and he was fooled into entering the entertainment industry by his stepmother and later ruined by her. When Shen Ye took over the original owner’s body, he was pushed down the stairs by the mistress’s son!

The original owner’s grandmother was worried that he would be lonely and helpless for the rest of his life and would be bullied by the Shen family, so she insisted on letting him marry Ye Ze.

Ye Ze is the person in charge of the Ye family and has enough ability to protect him.

Shen Ye said that he doesn’t need to rely on him because he has awakened his talent. Soon he will become a master of metaphysics and sweep the entire entertainment circle. He, himself, is his greatest reliance!

However, he did not refuse his grandmother’s proposal, who told him to fall in love with Ye Ze at first sight?

The warm purple air on the other person made him feel so comfortable…

He took the heirloom jade pendant his grandmother gave, waved it in front of Ye Ze’s eyes, and smiled like a stealing cat: Uncle, let’s get married!

Ye Ze: …

Ye Ze endured it for a long time and finally forced him to change his words on the wedding night: call me husband.

After that, the painting style is like this:

International actress: Looking for a fortune teller!

National actor: Asking for a fortune!

Popular Little Flower: Asking for a fortune teller!

Mistress’s family: Please let us go…

[Warning: Before reading this story, you should know that this is a very cliche and enjoyable story set in a fictional world. It is not real and has a huge golden finger that is illogical and enjoyable. Please do not use your brain when reading it and assume that everything the author writes is reasonable. If you can’t accept it, please do not read it. The author does not accept any questioning or criticism and does not welcome any nitpickers. Thank you very much ~]

Actually I want to give it 4.0 bcs of it's still okness and feel 3.9 is still too little for it, but author I take it away.. U have such a good extra but just stop there, at least give a more compact closed ending, pace wise.. The romance are jet rocket but I just don't like how simple it can be when it's not that simple :v and the do every pda besides all time is kinda.. Over use for me, well the good part is it was so... more>> light no drama in those romance, sometimes I feel why they're lack of soul :), but just ignore it u can enjoy it <<less

Very low-quality novel, be it writing style, characterisation, or execution.

1k cannon-fodders, one more idiotic than the last one, every chapter has at least one such character getting face-slapped, sometimes several. They multiply quicker than rabbits.

MC is OP beyond what's reasonable, the story could have ended at chapter two because he has more than enough power to defeat all the villains and get ultra rich in the span of a few days.
The writer drags it out without any skill or proper beats that would at least justify it somewhat, she makes up random stuff like MC suddenly going to Uni (against all logic, again) just to generate more braindead villains and highlight MC's OPness.

He's not even a fortune teller but pretty much a cultivator, and he doesn't seem to be the only one, yet supernatural abilities/cultivation in any form isn't actually part of the world the story takes place in.
What he does is more mind-reading than fortune telling, it makes no sense for him to just look at a person and instantly knowing everything about them, even their secret plans, but the writer insists on it being fortune telling. Then he can suddenly even call lightning, set up tangible formations... the story is an absolute mess.

Romance is instant, characterisation seriously lacking, the ML and MC are flat caricatures as well, not to mention side-characters that play more or less no actual role.

I would have still read it despite the worst case of Gary Stu and writer's incompetence I've ever seen, because I was in the mood for OP-MC, but the completely brainless villains, mass-face-slapping, and complete absence of (internal) logic or consistency are too much to make it worth the time.

If you generally like this kind of trope/premise, I'd suggest reading "The Consequence of Judging Others by Appearance" instead. Similar MC, similar ML, similar "getting famous" sub-plot, but with better execution, characterisation, and romance.

W A R N I N G!!!

This is a braindead novel, a novel with non-heavy plot (more like there's no plot other than MC and ML flirting). I understand why there are so many bad reviews.

The reason I gave this novel 4 star review because of my bias, since I like the MC a lot and this is like a fluff novel to me (i've been re-reading this novel everytime I read a dog-blood novel aka comfort novel).

MC/Shen Ye (Shou) : Extremely powerful, have a high sense of justice, and... more>> his character is totally created as Mary Sue. In the modern world, he's so strong even tsunami and earthquake look like a joke to him. His original world is those cultivator world with him being a once in a millenium genius.

ML/Ye Ze (gong) : Extremely powerful, he also has a purple aura around him that later discovered that he's the heaven favorite. Can cultivate taoism with MC later on in the story.

Relationship between MC/Shen Ye (shou) and ML/Ye Ze (gong) :

Spoiler

Honestly their relationship is more smooth than my green ping wifi connection. MC and ML hit it off right away. I see that some people are disturbed when ML call MC as child, but in my view it's more like a nickname in china (like baby), and MC call ML as uncle for teasing him.

MC and ML can be called as typical mary sue/jack sue, they are already perfect and still completed each other. MC get revenge for ML against the old taoist masters (villain) and ML is from a very powerful family become backer of MC.

Later when MC and ML succeed in opening up the rift to the other world (MC real world), it's shown that ML is an innate deity. His cultivation is faster than MC and even is stronger than MC.

[collapse]

As for the side characters, they're all good characters, but exclude the villains. The author write the villain as a pebble, MC really one hit k.o them.

As for the plot, some people may find it uncomfortable with how the author portrayed woman as a subject to ask help for MC (they have so many problems), but I feel that the author is probably looking at the real situation in his/her country

Spoiler

The novel always keep show how degenerate the status of women there. It's actually the real reflection in China, especially in rural area. Women isn't really appreciated there, they are subjected as someone who will be married off to other family. This caused so many women being suppressed to shine despite their potential, and many places there consider a girl who hasn't get married yet after they reach age 30 is a leftover women and no men want them. This doesn't occur only in china but some country also have this habit.

As for the entertainment one, there is indeed many cases where celebrities need to have sponsor so they can shine out. Although the way the author write it in the novel is a bit exaggerated, but it's not far from truth

[collapse]

Overall, the novel indeed lack in too many things, range from the characterization to the plot. The author probably write this to what his/her heart wants. Although it's pretty good for me (since this is my comfort novel) but doesn't mean everyone can accept such plot with many holes. MC&ML 4.5/5 (personally)

Plot 1.5/5 (publicly), 4/5 (personally)

Side characters 4/5 (personally)

Villain -4/5 (publicly) <<less

I actually quite liked this. It was an enjoyable pain free read that I mainly struggled to put down because I enjoyed the face slapping and needed to see the conclusions to the face slaps. It is quite brainless fluff, humor, good ppl get good things, bad ppl get bad things story. MC is extremely OP from the getgo, which meant face slaps from the beginning.

I have this on my reread list.

I agree with some of the comments about low quality writing and this have nothing to do with the translation but rather the character and plot development and interactions being very flat. Normally I love reading these metaphysics ones as they’re usually funny and relaxing (sometimes with some serious topics mixed in) but this one even as a brainless read I couldn’t finish it. Overall it felt more uncomfortable and incompatible than it does anything else. The premise is nice but execution is weak.

I'm gonna make it short.

I Love this novel. Sure I won't call it Perfect, but it was Pretty Enjoyable one. All 'jobs/cases' solved by MC neatly and clear. You can call our MC OP, but it was the kind that was Enjoyable!

All Villains and Non Villains are Equel in case of Gender if people worried for any Sexist.

... more>> Love the Main CP. Really Love how our Main CP are Sticky and Super Loving and Cuddling and kissing everytime they can. Super Sweet!

The side CPs also exist, but didnt take any big part, and all are suits my Likes!

Anyway this Novel was Fun and Light and I'm Absolutely LOVING IT! <<less

I'm more than halfway through this novel and I have yet to understand why I am putting myself through the torture. I wanted a brainless fluffy story with an overpowered protagonist. It should've had romance and cute moments.

I guess the saying "be careful what you wish for" holds true for this novel too. When the author said it was brainless fluff, I did turn off my brain, but really, this is wayyy too much.

The writing style is genuinely like that of a 12 year old fangirl fujoshi who has either... more>> never read a novel in her life (which would explain why the progression is so weird with so many useless fillers) or she's read a lot of romance novels and has put in all her favourite cliches into one large dumpster fire that's this "story" (which would explain why the characters feel more like they were put together from the numerous cheesy and greasy descriptions from different dogblooded romance novels).

I did not expect any logic to be present in this novel, but really? What about common sense? What about characterisation? There are some things you can't just excuse with "it was supposed to be brainless fluff teehee." Suspension of belief? It was an entire suspension bridge of belief!

...... Pardon my lack of taste in puns, it was probably the lasting side effects of this sorry excuse of a story. I assure you it's temporary if I have any say in it (which I might not).

Some reviewers might say "you had been warned", but like, I specifically went for this novel because I wanted to read those cliches. I went in completely aware of what was awaiting me. What can I say? I have questionable taste myself. But I had at least hoped that it would be an actual novel with characters and fluff that isn't rotten or greasy.

The ML has a pair of eyes that I suspect are buttons instead. He says almost nothing but cheesy "love lines" to the MC, and basically interacts with his subordinates with a telepathic radar, because somehow his subordinates are able to know what he wants them to do by the deepening or darkening or narrowing of his eyes. What kinda twilight Squidward Cullen bullsh*t is this? He waves his hand and prestigious families fall. His subordinates all have to suffer just because their boss fell in pove with another person and now refuses to work anymore. The MC is a holy mother mary sue who fell in love at first sniff with the ML, and calls him 'uncle' because they have an age difference of 8 years (even though ML was supposed to be 30 and MC was supposed to be less than 20. What do I know? Maths works differently in this story). This is fine. I don't like age gaps but I don't dislike them either if it's done well. HOWEVER, ML actually calls the MC "child".

Uh, not to kinkshame, but if you call your significant other "child" (and no, not baby, actual child) while doing that, then you might be more fitting for that jail cell than you thought before.

The police are a bunch of puppies with shining eyes and wagging tails who give MC all the information he wants, take him to meet criminals and let him do his mumbo jumbo while they watch, record and shower applause, basically treat him as a god and worship the path he walks on. It would be fine if it happened a bit later in the story after the MC helps them in a few more cases, but really? It was worship at first sight.

This is not how stories are written. Characters are supposed to have a personality, the fluff should be soaked into daily interaction. People should be treated like people and not brainless puppets who only have one setting. I don't mind if everybody loves the MC, I don't mind if MC and ML fall in love at first sight or sniff or whatever. I don't mind if everything goes smoothly for the MC or the MC can solve everything at the snap of his fingers. However, I do mind the fact that none of the characters ever feel like actual characters. I mind if the progression is so idiotic that even a two year old could point out what's wrong with the plot.

The protagonist's skills really are out of the world. He's the most powerful man in the world. He's got money looks power and prestige. I don't mind anything about that. I just feel disappointed about the way everything was written. The so called cases that the MC solves are all the same. It's always one taoist making life hell for (coincidentally) wealthy and powerful people. MC always saves them at the snap of his fingers and all of them, without fail, decide to give up half their life's savings to the MC as a reward, which the MC refuses, because he's oh so "kind and magnonimous". It keeps happening and there's nothing new. The MC can find out what happened just by seeing the face of a person, and the author spends one or two chapters describing everybody's shocked and disbelieving or fearful expressions to create "anticipation" for the "mystery". There's no mystery at all. You ask me and I'll say what the problem is without even seeing their faces, not because I'm smart or because I have special powers but because I've read the same thing already a few chapters ago! If anything could rival bollywood tv serials, it would be this.

I have already suffered so much and your think it would be over, but the author actually pushed out almost 150 (145 to be exact) chapters! Why? When I saw it had 3.9 stars I thought "how bad could it be?" But boy was I wrong. I was beyond bad. The only good thing about this story was the translation. The one extra star I gave this story is because of the translation quality and the fact that it's impossible to rate a story under 1 star at NU.

It hurts my self esteem to accept the fact that I'm giving up the fight, but I just can't take this anymore. <<less

Since no one commented yet~

I think this novel can be considered a light read? Something to pass the time? It’s hard to describe how I feel about this novel hm... It does have its funny moments! And I also enjoy strong protagonists~
Spoiler

It’s just, like many worries I have regarding transmigration, I wonder if they will share them being another person with the ML. In this particular case, I feel like, I would have enjoyed it as well if it was rebirth, the original body seems like a person who after rebirth would be able to retaliate? Also I feel like ML and original body would have been cute together too haha tho tbh I don’t know MLs character enough yet, so he may not be attracted to the original body‘s type?

Anyways, ML and MC are sweet and have potential to be even sweet~ especially with MLs purple energy, I could see MC clinging to him a lot~ hehe

Regarding the writing of this... idk something feels off, maybe I just don’t like the way the author is writing? I feel like they only described the whole fortune telling and fengshui stuff perfunctorily, but not deep enough hm like MC just CAN, no need for explanations :/ also I was so annoyed at the beginning, when they mentioned that OGs father, stepmother killed the mother, took over the company, put the grandma in a mental hospital and killed OG, like, yeah we get, pls don’t mention it every chapter ahdksb Maybe it was just me haha

[collapse]

I think this story is definitely not bad!

Spoiler

Its just, I feel like it’s not one of the best Fengshui master type novel there is :/

[collapse]

Since the rating is quite good now, I won’t leave a rating~
If I had to, I’d probably give it 3, 5 stars haha not as bad as 3, but still not as good as the ones I’ve given 4~ but I think this is more influenced by personal bias bc of writing style~

It’s really not bad! For example, I like how MC is trying to fulfill OGs last wishes! Not many think about the OGs after transmigration~

I can understand that everyone doesn't have the same cup of tea, but I enjoyed this novel since I like supernatural, esp the metaphysics stuff. I give this 5 stars due to my own bias as this also made me relax in my mind. No too complicated stuff but has a bit of drama. The MC being OP and his smooth romance with ML were already explained by the author in the summary. So if you don't like it, then you shouldn't have just read this if you will complain... more>> in the end. Since, as I have said, the author already gave a warning.

Anyway, this novel is a shuangwen (double OP main CP) - the 'feel good' type of novel. As they said, a 'brainless' novel. So if you don't want to waste brain cells to solve mysteries and like to read metaphysics with face slapping and a bit of drama, this is for you.

P.S.: this novel is already completely translated so I don't need to torture myself with MTL. I am also happy that the translation is good (as expected by knoxt, which I read some of novels from). So thanks for the translator, too, for making me read this in just one day! <<less

I'm not good with words so all I can say is, although the writing is a bit poor, the dog food and fluff is there. The MC is OP and all but it's alright. You shouldn't take this story seriously with it's illogical fortune telling and way of handling things. This story is more like a 'sometime-to-read-when-you're-bored' or when you just finished a heavy story and don't want to think or just need anything to read right now. Overall the plot is sweet (in my opinion) and I can recommend... more>> it to those who have nothing else to do. Besides that, ML is a huge green flag.

Spoiler

There's also mentions of r*pe but not with the protagonists but other people and the protagonists help them.

It's also satisfying to see how those r*pists third legs are punished

[collapse]

Spoiler

What I also like is the MC with his obsession with ml's abs and how he acts like a pe*vert when he touches them but ML just indulges him and how he also tries to drive with ML but ML waits till he has his licence before driving (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

After all we don't often get such protagonists

(driving=s*x, licence=marriage)

I'm dropping at 122.

I didn't mind the illogical fortune telling since I'm into Taoist characters so I'm used to their methods although to be honest this one didn't even attempt to be technical with their methods.

Anyway, that is not my problem. My problem is the writing. It was so dry I can't even squeeze dog food from the supposed spreading dog food scenes. They're supposed to be loving romantic couple but I can't feel the romance. The cases are no brainer. It's fine if you want to tell me that... more>> MC is strong, but please let me feel that he IS strong. And the ML, ML is just there, just there.

A very good light read. Alot of fluff and pampering for MC, Alot of great side characters. The whole story gives s lot of hopes and and heartwarming moments. Mostly wishing the world will be a better place and someone like MC or ML to save the day. It’s a short read. No heavy dramas but do touch alot of certain issues that still persist today. Even though it’s quite cliche but I guess authors hopes of kindness and good defeats evils makes it a feel good read. Recommended read,... more>> thank you <<less

Don't hold your breathe for actual plot in this novel. It's more of a feel-good brainless novel with no depth to it. MC and ML fall head over heels first few chapters and all issues get resolved quickly. No tension. Not even s*xual tension (siiigh -.-)

And, admittedly, I enjoyed reading it in the beginning cause I just wanted a fast-love novel to take a break from a heavy-tone I read earlier but this novel really dragged it on that I got bored by chapter 89 and dropped it.

I was... more>> hoping their romance would be sweet and sensual but NOPE. Typical MC who gets sticky with ML and cold CEO ML who indulges him and only him. Which is fine. I read other great novels with those tropes but these particular characters are really predictable.

So read to pass the time but don't expect anything amazing. <<less

Reading a face-slapping train about vigilante justice must feel good, but I don't like that the MC's own problematic morals are handwaved by his skill with the 'Dao' and the delegation of logistical complications to the ever-convenient ML. The writing and characterisation aren't that great either.

China is riddled with serious problems, but the author's didactic and rather trigger happy application of having everything cured by a one-man judge, jury, and executioner waving his hands and making a speech is just social justice pap for middle schoolers. Especially given that 1/4... more>> of the story is supposed to be about young women's rights, but features them being only capable of seduction scams, going crazy, or being rescued by powerful men. And the ultimate moral of the story is: the best path to success is through thigh-holding. (Ch 145) Wtf.

Also, Africa is not a country. (Ch 125 onwards) Wtf.

I guess everyone just accept things easily in the novel? ML accepts MC as his fiance immediately, everybody accepts MCs magical power. Like everything seems normal when people don't question anything

Basically MC can do whatever he wants and it's fine. Like crushing people's soul in front of other people it's like drinking water haha. He's childish, but strong sense of justice. He's like a dao police, he can read minds and go destroy all the evil plans in the world.

I guess it got repetitive with the same cases, cheating,... more>> backstabs, wealth, scumbags etc. The villains gets 1 hit KO so don't mind it too much.

I had a good time reading it, alot of fluff and sweet cheest moments between MC and ML. Eating sugar every chapter. I won't even called it metasphysics it just raw cultivation power lol so busted, he's just so OP. ML is also OP as hell. They are the power couple through out. I like the side characters they were fun.

It's a good read for relaxing. Don't take it seriously though, it won't make sense and you feel the story is kinda flat. Also get use to MC's justice speeches and do applaud his h**ny behaviour. <<less
