I didn't read the extras, probably because the ending s**ked. The extras might be nice but the ending was a very emotional moment and then the development after that was just underwhelming.

Anyway, I looooved the couples, this alone will make me give this 5 stars because I actually do have quite a few complaints. The couples perfectly satisfy what I've always wanted in a novel, although in a way the way all of their acquaintances started dating is kinda unrealistic but it was fun, even a ship I had for... more>> which I didn't hold much hope ended up together! And scum men got what they deserve!! I specially loved Shen Mozhen's relationship, it's even making me reconsider my priorities haha. It was soooo refreshing having characters that weren't blinded by money and looks. A scum man is a scum man, I don't know how FCs in other novels can stand them. If a guy has wronged me no way I'm giving them another chance lmao. Forgiveness is good but I'm still petty.

Now about my complaints... the author is obviously a layman in so many areas. Idk how well their research was done in the areas of expertise of the FL (Chinese literature, calligraphy) and ML (vet) because I am a bigger layman and I don't even know Chinese. And it's ok if some parts are off because it really doesn't affect the plot. But some parts were so annoying I had to take breaks while reading it because it annoyed me. The business ideas s**ked and you don't need to be an expert to tell, I mean I'm not even an expert, it was that bad. I never held expectations for the business ideas but honestly it would've been better to get inspired by real stories than to pull ideas out of your *ss that would certainly not work. Like, they just used their imagination without properly researching how stuff even works. Some parts do affect the plot after all. Like, the sloppy police that doesn't even monitor calls or visitors. Maybe the author was aware and just decided to ignore common sense for the sake of the plot. It just feels like a very dumb plot though. Obviously it is a LN and I never held high expectations but it was kinda cringy. Also the whole showbiz aspect was just ridiculous (especially American showbiz), I have a lot of complaints about it! but it is at most just a bit annoying, you can just ignore it though.

Also the pacing of the novel is weird. But anyway, I'm still giving this 5 stars because I really liked the relationships of the side characters.

Oh something I also liked was how the author didn't try to make the FL and ML flawless people that everyone can't help but have a crush on. Some people might crush on them but it's not too uncomfortable and those people weren't ill intentioned. I liked how they could have perfectly good friendships with people of the other gender. Finally normal characters!! The friendships were really nice!! Also the author didn't shy away from boogers and sweat hahaha. At the beginning of the relationship ppl always try to show a flawless image, but no one is perfect. The MCs are still human, although some of their skills were still exaggerated but at least the author didn't make them 100% OP. They were normal! They get sick like everyone. They were also busy like normal adults (how come some CEOs in some novels have so much free time?), and aren't together all the time, like normal couples. The friends were pretty good. IRL there's not really a #1 female/male, people have different tastes and it is kinda impossible for everyone to like one person like some novels are, and even if they had a crush on someone it is normal to move on. It is normal to start new relationships, and um yeah. I loved the relationships between the characters.

Also, I loved the redemption of certain character, I was already rooting for them when I knew of their circumstances, it was nice seeing them grow from their cocoon. Honestly I've always wanted to see a story where a character like them is the protagonist. Too bad most ex-villainess stories take the route of making the oriFL bad or whitewash her past by throwing another soul into the villain's body lol. Anyway that was a character with potential! Everyone kind of is. So many side characters had stories that I've wanted to see in novels. It was nice. <<less

While this story was enjoyable, the downside was that there were some half-baked side character romances. Their stories were really abrupt and never explained well. The ML's friends also had questionable character when it came to romance. They were scum men, and there never was any rectification for them. I would have liked to understand more of the side characters' romances. It was too sudden. I couldn't feel any emotions, especially from the men.

This is a very lighthearted book, I personally have found myself laughing quite a bit which surprised me.

The FMC's character can sometimes come across as a bit bland and 2D but I still enjoy her interactions, currently there's not a lot of self-growth but I enjoyed reading her journey nonetheless. I do tend to prefer the side characters such as Li Xiaoru and the streaming fans in the story as they are just hillarious.

This book isn't something revolutionary and it's not amazing, but it was entertaining to read. I would... more>> recommend if you have spare time to kill. <<less

I love this novel a lot. The characters feel very realistic (even the villains, though sometimes you're left wondering if someone could be this dumb), and their character/plot development is so fitting as well.

So many times I read the start of a plot point and I thought "Oh, is this gonna go this cliche route?" then got surprised because it actually went a 'normal/realistic situation'

Spoiler

For example, when Tang Tu broke up with Shen Mozheng, I was fully expecting for Shen Mozheng to go to a cliche route of blaming Liu Man. But she turned out to be a normal character who recognize that their breakup had nothing to do with Liu Man, and in fact she thanked Liu Man for making her realize that Tang Tu doesn't worth her love. I love that arc so much.

[collapse]

Few other points:

  1. Liu Man is not too OP. Yes, she is essentially 'perfect' but not everything fell into place perfectly for her and by her own merit. She is helped by so many people in her life and she recognized that.
  2. The romance in this is also very heartwarming. They're both very supportive of each other and are e/o's motivations.
  3. The side characters are so good!! I love the ever-changing friendship, sort of a reminder that not everything is going to stay the same, and that sometimes coincidences lead to the best friendships.
  4. The villains ultimately got their punishment. Not everything is solved in that specific arc, sometimes they got their punishment way after that chapter.
    Spoiler

Qiao Xin (I think that's his name?) secretly groped Liu Man when they were shooting a drama, and at that particular arc, his only punishment is there's rumor of it spreading around. But then way after that chapter, he finally got his punishment (although not only because of the groping incident) and it's very satisfying.

Of course there are moments where you realize its the protagonist halo at work but honestly, I still love this novel a lot. <<less

I mtled the rest of the chapters after catching up with the translations.

It's strongest parts for me is the romance. I just genuinely root for the two of them. They are both independent. Although they are very important for each other, their lives do not revolve around their partner. They both have realized careers and goals. They support each other but not to the point of opening a back door. It's nice.

She's not op, at first. Contrary to my usual taste, I didn't dig her showbiz career. Out of all... more>> things she does, it is the most unconvincing for me.

I'm not sure if it's spoiler... so just to be sure

Spoiler

As I see it, MC has 3 things she's very good at---calligraphy, guqin, and socialization. I don't think of it as cheat since she's practicing the first two for years. And she's just good with connecting with people. It's her personal charm and tack that gets people to her side and help her.

[collapse]

Here's something that she's above average at---

Spoiler

business and acting.

At most, she's above average im business. The good thing is her mother helps her and MC have good connections, reputation and network.

Acting. This I think, she'll be very good at, But I am not convinced she is.

In the story, she is very good at acting a specific role or a role near her temperament. On that part, I can accept it.

And then I love the part when she played an extra. Where she danced and became seductive, which is very far from her self. That shows that she has potential in acting. But her next project she acted on was an mv, which she acted as herself. Then, as Yu Ji, a protagonist, on which she was nominated in Oscars for best actress. Like what??? How did we jump that far??? I get it that she's got potential to go there. But there's no in between, so her nomination just feels unearned.

oh btw, she's also above average in singing.

[collapse]

I just hoped we focused more on things she's better at, guqin and calligraphy than business and acting.

or write more on her progression on acting so it doesn't feel sudden and unearned.

She just have too much on her plate.

The cat food business parts are boring. I only skimmed through those chapters

Oh the best thing about here I absolutely love are female friendship!! yey!!! MC have beautiful and excellent female friends that have lives beyond the female lead!! <<less

This novel is a decent read, not too much drama that would grip you by the edge, not too much dogblood that'd make you question humanity's morale. The romance is straightforward, the plot is also straightforward. The characters are fine, I have my own favourites- a testament of good intuition in character writing from the author. But there are some moments that I question the story. It was all over the place, but subtly so, you won't feel like you're going insane if you read it, but still a bit... more>> all over the place.

The author did well in making the FL solved all her problems by herself, not even a lift of ML's finger was used. She always solved it herself with her straightforward-ness, sincerity, and popularity. This novel IS good, but lacked charm. In a week, I'm afraid I'll entirely forget about this novel. Everything is too smooth? The problem solving is also very smooth.

Also there's one part that I dislike is that how easily the MC forgave her supposed teammate for abandoning her and her roommate at a critical juncture of performance exam. Which is ridiculously looked down upon in music world. Trust me, if you don't turn up for your team concert or break your promise to perform with a fellow musician, you should stop dreaming of becoming professional musician. Especially if you're an adult. I hate it that she forgave that character easily.

I don't think this novel can be tagged as 'Comedy'??? It certainly doesn't feel like so. I barely laughed. In fact, I don't think there's any scene in the novel that was meant for laughter? The narration was good, but as I have said, it lacked charms that grip you. So to correct the tag, this is certainly not a Comedy. I didn't laugh. And I easily laughed over the s*upidest thing.

All in all, this novel is a decent read. I have some complaints of some choices the author made because it made no sense to the plot aside for the sake of cough, cough, tearing a family apart. (You'll know when you read it) but tbf, I skipped those boring chapters. Because, again, the more you read this novel, the more you'll find yourself drifting off, because everything is too smooth, even some conflicts didn't feel like conflicts. However, I have no heart in giving it bad review because it's truly a well-written novel. Not great. But something you can read when you're bored. <<less

Some would say the story character ia too perfect. To me, its amazing to find a story like this. The amount of positiveness. Everyone is supporting each other. Even this may be fictional, I found this story calm me. Like there is still positiveness and happiness thatbyou can find in this cruel world. Hahaha exaggerated is it? But that's what I feel. I can't explained it properly since I'm not good with word, but yeah..

I just love it. I find myself squealing and hitting pillows quite often with all the cute moments. Also annoying because I’m smiling so much while reading that I’m gonna get wrinkles! Also the translators are wonderful, provide just what you need without being excessive and without distracting grammatical errors!

Really one of the best ML I ever read. He knows exactly what his lover is capable of handling on her own and trusts her. FL is also a mature and intelligent yound woman. The writing style is really fluid and easy to read, the translation is top notch. I recommend.

Lightly soothing story about a reverse transmigration from past to present. Very enjoyable if you like eating dogfood, or for that matter, cat food. Golden halos abound, and patience is a virtue when it comes to the trials of this MC.

The beginning of the novel is pretty good but I feel that the author began dragging the novel around the middle. I fast forward most of the story just to know the ending.
