I read this novel before with an expectation that it would be another entertainment sweet and fluffy chasing wife after divorce. Then, I realized I was wrong.

One thing that should be known, ML did not deserve MC. I am fully aware that both of them are a victim of arrange marriage by their parents. But I might say, ML is like an immature person, how he ignore MC and how he torture his mental. ML is a victim too, I understand that fact. But the fact that he never think... more>> about another victim who's a lot younger than him, who only reached the age of adult, is too much. I have so much resistance towards ML.

Truly, I hope MC would get another partner who will heal him, treat him better, let he knows how he should be loved. My unspoken thought went uncontrollable especially after a video when MC was a teenager smiling and laughing happily were posted on social media. How ironic, the innocent smile and laugh disappeared like it's never been there before.

The only reason I could find here why MC could heal his depression, and try to live again is because his family. He wants his family so much. Probably because he has suffered too much and coincidentally ML was there with him out of guilt, MC then became attached with ML. It's seems like he was not even conscious with that.

MC deserve so much better. If only the ex husband is not the ML, I believe he will become more happier. <<less

I'm writing a review as I'm here for rereading now. I loved the novel. The main character, gu qingchi is a really special MC. Like he's not a rare type Pokemon MC but it's unusual to see this type of tropes in this genre. Most people just take him as silent and serene natured, but it's a a big conflict going inside him. He seems tough to others but he's really vulnerable and fragile. I love the relationship between the MC and ml, they are really cute. I'm writing this... more>> review purely by memory. I can’t stand the writing anymore. Each time a new character meets MC the author spends half a chapter going on and on about his beauty and it’s just so damn repetitive. MC’s personality isn’t developed either, it’s just like cardboard, being obedient and etc to everyone. He spends more time interacting with all these people enamored with his beauty than with ML. Granted, literally everyone is shallow af and just sees his beauty and it’s just getting mad annoying. The depression theme is quite heavy, so I really warn you fellas to mind that the MC's depression (?) Heavy feelings/narration (?) are quite triggering. Now move on to the plot. Please note that this part may spoil y'all a lil bit.

Firstly, I will try to review this novel just from the story point of view as much as I can.

I find it rather uh, disappointing, that the ML is the ex. I think the ex is just gonna be a cannon fodder lmao. I'm kinda uncomfortable that he ended... more>> up with his prepetator. Although MC and ML have a lot of intimacy while in chasing period (?) (they even kissed and cohabitated), but the MC also said, that at that time he still hated ML, and he just need someone to love him.

But this period to the period of their really officially going out period, is too short for me. MC is still focused on his family and healing process, so MC and ML doesn't have that much interaction after that chasing warming up arc ended.

The MC said that now they are even. Then, they start over. But with little to no interaction, later on they are officially dating. Like, uh?? You said you hated him, but later you 2 were a couple??

When they started official, I'm really really shocked. The moment MC and ML became official should have been my happiest turning point moment in reading any novel. But this, novel is too contradicting.

It can't be helped that I always think, is this can be catogorized as an example of stockholm? Lima syndrome? Lmao

All in all, I'm feeling complicated, weird, uncomfortable for the MC (although the ML is also the victim of the family struggle, and already repented a lot). I've the urge to drop this novel so much. This novel kinda leave a bad taste in my mouth, aside from the heavy depression mood. Just from the story point of view.

So around 50 to 60 chapters are more or less boring tr*sh. I nearly stopef at around chapter 70

But I didn't and I'm so happy.

As it delves deeper into MC emotional state it is written so well. Don't even ask how many times I cried! It depictes depression in a very realistic way, I love how MC's family and ML interact with him. I love how ML stays by his side and how we see slowly gets better but is not instant cured, it's written in a very realistic way!... more>> It's truly heartbreaking.

So my advise read like the first 10 chapters till he enters the entertainment circle, than read losly until around chapter 70? Not sure anymore. Because there the story the emotional development and all will happen. I really hot pulled in! <<less

First off, I would like to agree with the other reviews saying to avoid this novel if you're sensitive to topics such as mental illness, depression, self-harm, etc.

I liked this novel, but I felt like it was a slow start. I didn't really like the scenes that focused heavily on the entertainment industry because they felt unrealistic, and the writing sometimes felt repetitive during those chapters. The narration kept focusing on how beautiful the protagonist is, how everyone loves him the instant they see his face, how surprisingly good he... more>> is at every job despite being a newcomer, etc. I also wasn't a fan of how the writer had to stop and describe characters' outfits. The first half of the novel had a lot of these scenes. In addition, in the first half of the novel, we don't really get to understand the protagonist's thoughts and motivations which I found frustrating, but it did make a lot of sense once we get to the halfway point.

I think the writing improves once the novel reaches the halfway point. Even though I didn't really like the first half of the novel, those chapters served as a good contrast to the second half of the novel to make the second half more heartbreaking. I also liked that the novel focuses a lot on the protagonist's character progression in the second half of the novel. I don't want to give any spoilers, but overall I felt this was a worthwhile read. <<less

I never expected a novel that describes depression, self harm, su*cide and the healing process to catch my attention.

I didn't expect much, but man was I hooked.

nearing the last maybe 30% (?) I was bawling my eyes out. I had a stack of used tissue paper. I've never cried so hard before.

... more>> the depressive episodes encountered by the MC was so heart breaking.

I didn't like the ML at first but once you start reading, you can't hate him.

their circumstance was the product of the system/world's interference.

when you continue to read, you can see how much the ML cares for the MC. It's really sweet.

I truly never expected to enjoy this as much as I did and I finished it quite quickly. I really enjoyed seeing the MC's change, growth and healing process. <<less

why? because I don't find it interesting anymore when the uke starting to let the seme to pursue him.

it's kinda shitty.

why? how could he abandoned him when he is become his husband for 2 years and chasing him after when ge starting to enjoy his own life.

I thought there will come someone who's deserve to be with him but what?? he is back with his shitty ex-husband??

hell no! I stopped right away doesn't care about the rest.
