At one point, a worthless aristocrat starts beating the MC up and he just lets him because he understands that sometimes people want to vent their frustrations. This is all I am going to say about this novel. Absolutely ridiculous. It is completely insane to me that people actually find pushover, weak and bullied protagonists to be cool.

A pretty poor fantasy harem novel. It starts with the typical underestimation of MC and engagement-breaking like you'd expect. Then it goes to a new area and the MC meets a bunch of girls and starts teaching them magic. That's where the problem is. The story moves pretty slowly and the chapters are short. So his interactions with his harem, which should be the interesting part of the story, are boring. At this point of the story every chapter is a play-by-play of him teaching these girls how to fight... more>> and make stuff. That kind of thing can be done well, and other stories make it interesting but this story fails.

The first reason it fails is because the girls themselves are too dependent on the MC. If you have read any Japanese harem LN, you are probably familiar with having any girls rely on the MC's guidance in one way or another. Usually they have some kind of cliche personality like the tsundere or "the hardworking one" and then crafts their dependence on the MC around that. This story leaves out the personalities though. There are four or five girls (I legitimately can't remember, it's that bad) but they are portrayed so badly that only two of them are distinguishable. The young energetic one, and the young kuudere who talks slow. Other than that, there is a girl with healing magic and another girl who is the mayor. I can't remember if there is a third older girl or not. And this is why the dependence on the MC is such a problem. The author just has the girls do whatever the MC tells them to do, so they are practically puppets and they don't talk much beyond responding to the situation. So this fails as self-insert because the author fails to build even cookie-cutter personality traits because he only writes them following orders. So the harem aspect fails to meet expectations and my expectations were pretty low to begin with.

The second problem is the MC. He doesn't have a personality. That's not unusual for this genre, MC's are usually pretty bland and because they are the author's self insert things just kind of work out for them. The problem with this MC is that he starts off bland and then we just stop getting his thoughts. Everything becomes info-dumps and poorly written nonsense about how magic works (the system makes sense but is very dull but the author spends a lot of time explaining it when it really isn't very important to the story) or about the MC guiding the girls to fight like a video game team (healer, scout, tank, wizard) which is just ridiculous. So we can't hear the MC's thoughts very often, we can't see him making real decisions because everything moves so slowly, and he doesn't do anything particularly noteworthy to establish a personality.

The whole thing just feels like the author came up with a story for what he himself would like to experience in a fantasy world (nothing inherently wrong with that) and then wrote down a dull sequence of those events. The MC is his self-insert and the girls are his harem, with fighting occurring in a manner he is comfortable with. The problem is that he doesn't make an effort to convey anything interesting to the audience. It's just "here is the MC. He does this. He goes here. Here's several chapters to explain that magic exists and an ancient wizard created a system that lets people access it easily with spoken words. There was an ancient magic civilization. Now you have tons of info to understand why MC is OP compared to morons and people who have never learned magic (seriously, the bad guys are corrupt and lazy. I don't need tons of dull info dumps to understand why the MC who spent his entire life fighting monsters is stronger than them). Here's some girls. Here's a chapter of backstory for them. Here's multiple chapters of them barely saying anything while the MC/author explains how great an idea it is to have a tank, a healer, a wizard, and a scout as a party composition.

The whole story is just annoying and dull. It fails as harem. It fails as wish-fulfillment. It fails as action. It at least accomplishes the revenge aspect of the bad guys getting their punishment for underestimating the MC but that isn't saying much. Don't bother with this.

Later edit: So there is one plus to this. I honestly enjoy coming back for the side stories that reveal how screwed the early story jerks are. This story does that follow up part very well. Sadly I still dislike the story and characters every time I try to give it a shot again. <<less

To tell in a nutshell it´s not so good.

First each chapter it´s small. Magic is made to be op and easy to learn, I mean, what´s the point of separating modern magic with ancient if you can learn ancient magic faster. Also the reincarnated part is unecesary, he is way to easygoing.

Way too much POVs, again unecesary for the story, one can´t relate to the MC´s view of the world.

Time managment´s terryble, also there is no such thing as MP, they can spam magic like crazy, heck to be capable... more>> of using magic it uses the term magic genius for lack of tought.

More than magician the MC´s a freaking Sage with a Index for magic in the brain.

So if you spect a hard earned life for the MC then you are wrong, he is living a New Game: Plus + Rom-com + Harem in Very Easy. <<less

What is this novel about:

    • Laid back story
    • Black company background
    • Betrayed by the kingdom
What this novel is not about:

    • Revenge
    • Bloodshed
    • Calculating MC
The best part:

    • The kingdom goes into turmoil after MC leave
Reno and Sui is the reason this novel deserve Loli tag.

Also, the world building, author is trying his best to rationalize some rpg elements like stats, farming, ruins, safe area, etc.

In my biased opinion it would be a 3/5 but objectively it isnt that good so just read it when you have nothing else.

The MC

Despite being a solid line of defense between the most dangerous monsters and the kingdom he is laid back and even lets his estranged father hit him to vent his anger, he both sometimes lacks common sense and also knows that his friends after a few weeks of training are 6 times stronger than the average trained aristocrat. 3/5 kinda bland

... more>> Magic

The magic system is the cookie cutter "Modern magic knowledge is terrible and spells waste alot of mana but our MC learned the much better and practical Ancient Magic" When they explain how magic works they mostly use the difference between Ancient Magic and Modern Magic as word count filler bringing the pacing way down multiple times in the story. 2/5 for being a slog to read through.

Villains

The Villains are cartoonishly evil
Spoiler

The Nobles and Royalty from his nation are both corrupt and s*upid while the Nation he move's to has Nobles who are in the camp of "Commoners are Inferior Plebians and any noble who cant use magic should die"

[collapse]
but lets be honest you read these types of stories to see them suffer from their own actions. 4/5 for making villains I really hate but 3/5 total since the pacing makes the chapters of their downfall far and few between.

Side Characters

So far only 2 out of them have interesting backstories but and im not even gonna sugar coat it the one in charge of the village he moves to is dumb as bricks.
Spoiler

She almost sold alot really rare resource in exchange for what is equivalent to tr*sh to everyone else and the only reason she didnt is because the Trader was honest. And later when a Maid basically told her "Hey your family that abandoned you and replaced you for not being able to use magic suddenly wants you back after declaring they dont care if you die." she was ready to abandon all of her friends and be a noble again before she walked into the most obvious trap in existence.

[collapse]
but other than her the side characters are alright. 3/5

the Harem

They basically dont do anything and the only harem like thing they did was Sleep in the same room... in a large room with many separate beds *le gasp I cant handle this SMUT* they are basically in a teacher student relationship so the Harem life is super slow burn to the point where except for one plot point the story wouldnt change much if they werent women. 2/5 the girls are cute but this is wholesome.

Pacing

Its a slife of life but the pacing is horrible and it devotes 5 pages alone to the first trader coming over literally its just called "a Trader Visits (1), (2), (3), (4), (5) " and almost nothing happens it is spend on magic explainations, training, and sprinkled in there every 15 or so chapters the bad guys have something bad happen to them. 1/5 <<less

The characters are interesting, the conceit is interesting, but moves pretty slow and occasionally forces characters to make pretty bad choices to add stakes.

Well I have caught and then read some more. And is not a good novel.

The story is about a easygoing life of a OP meek japanese reincarted (that as usual play almost no role in the story) teen with his harem/female friend orbiters. With that title is exactle what you expect.

I gave 3 starts because it the quality is as good as I expected, if slight worse.

In short the story is:

    • Magic - OK (swallow but with chance to grow)
    • Setting - OK (modern world is really boring, compared to the magic empire)
    • Villains - BAD (they are all cartoonish villains, I hoped they died the moment they opened their mouth)
    • Harem - a little bland, at least 2 girl have some backstory.
    • MC - Terrible - incredible pushover with no personality, that seen really keen in following rules for no reason even at his expense. And despite being cursed to live just to 50years he have literally no hurry or desire to do anything. But if you like that laidback MC go for it.
    • Pacing - BAD - even for a slice of life seen to suffer, when the chapter is on magic seen to drag on into multiple chapters what could all be explained into one or two, while not developing the harem or the MC that feel sometimes like filler.
    • world logic - There are some problem with modern world logic, like how could they fall so low with magic books laying around and with the magical civilization dumbing down magic to anyone could use. Or how the strongest people are fine being treated like dog sh*t despite their OP power. But with the cartoonish villains I have no desire to know anything about that mess. In special the "how the kingdom crumbled without the MC because people are idiot" was really gratting to me as it was clearly the author giving the revenge the MC would be incapable of doing himself.
    • If there is any interesting point is that the MC is willing to be the teacher of the girls and have a kind mentor apprentice situation, explaining how the magic and the demonic forest work.
      Spoiler

The magic is ok there seen to have been attempt at magic craft with him trying and failing to fly by mixing and matching lesser magic. But it feel really swallow by now and even until 100ch it barely evolved much.

    • The execution however was really poorly done, harem is as expecialized as RPG party both in personality and skill, I think they learn 1 combate skill and couple buffs. While crafting was almost handwaved as also attribute + feeling thing. While farming with magic was in fact alot more interesting than anything else, because had some origality on it.
The worst offender of the story is without doubt the MC personality, there should be a limit to be a pushover, but is really difficult to read past the couple first chapters where OP MC is willing to let c*nt nobleman kick him, for no reason, beside the MC "understand he want to vent a little". And when he recount his and his parent life on

fleshback I wonder if the curse their family got was to be subservient s*aves and like it. Also he say he had been cursed but that doesn't really affect him much.

In fact the harem in their generic interaction expressed more than the MC did in the whole story.

I wonder if there is a right mix of not being suicidal belligerant like Xianxia CH character and infuriating pushover of JP MCs, that would create somewhat ok character. KR character curious fool you into think they could be that middle ground only to swing one way or the other widly.

Funn read better than similar novels I hve read recently. However...

because it is better I was going to give it an extra star, but the passing became an issue. In the beginning it is fine, but eventually, it felt like slower moments that could have been resolved in two or three chapters took five. The parts focusing on the main character feel drawn out to the point I just read through them waiting for the next intermission chapter where we checked in on the royalty, malgrave, or trader where... more>> are prity fun to read or at least a nice reprieve from the more drawn out parts with the main cast <<less

tbh you can easily just ignore this novel and act like it doesn’t exist even if you really like Self insert Harem wish fulfillment Novels this probably won’t do anything for you because of the MC

The MC Is frustrating to to follow because of how he lets people treat him and the Magic System makes no sense because it relies on Books so I don’t understand why Modern Magic would be worst then Ancient Magic with no actual benefit

and I feel like it would have been better if the MC... more>> wasn’t reincarnated but instead an actual inhabitant of this world since him being reincarnated doesn’t even add anything and I feel it takes away

the one part of this story I liked was the extra chapters that followed the king and his ministers not because they are great or anything but because they were interesting seeing how s*upid and out of touch the king and his men were with a lot of the decisions they end up making through them and seeing how they reason their decisions and react when their decisions fail in the next Extras chapter <<less

I do not want to sound imposing but this seems much similar to the incompetent prince but the prince was assigned to his territory as a replacement from the previous lord. Both op, the MC is laidback and broad-minded, the other one is op but his so called "incompetence" influence seems to backfire on him whenever he plans to do something incompetent.

Holy sh*t this one of the worst WN's I have ever tried to read. The MC is a tool who is used by everyone and he is fine with it. For some reason he is a reincarnated person (originally Japanese), so far the only reference to it is his weak minded mentality and for the author to make some references to IRL stuff (which just means he didn't want to come up with anything original). The whole event that start the premise of this novel is only possible if the... more>> King and Defence Minister are absolute buffoons. POV switching almost every chapter for some reason or mid chapter which doesn't provide any additional info or characterisation.

If you want to read how a massive M "japanese" MC get's used by everyone around him without anything in return this novel is for you! <<less

Being honest I'm surprised myself at how bad the story was to drop it so early.

The biggest issue of the story is the MC. He's basically apathetic to anything. He is abused, exploited and mistreated like a s*ave or stray dog and he readily accepts it.

Spoiler

He was an office worker who was isekaied from drinking. He wasn't even a black company s*ave who died of overwork. Idk where he's justified to get that s*ave mentality from.

He's clearly overpowered and knows it from the start but takes it lying down. He has no attachments to that place or people yet accepts their degrading treatment as if it's normal

My only complaint is one of the heroine, Aria, is depicted as the personification of idiocy. She's so much of an idiot I'm actually surprised something this dumb and ignorant could ever survive in aristocratic society. Truly a heroine; I bet she have her own plot armor considering this girl is still alive until the latest chapter I read. Out of all five heroines, she's the one that I doubt her mental age ever surpassed 5yo. The inside of her head is like a cotton candy, full of air and... more>> sweetness (naivety). And yet, she IS the village head? Truly one of the world's wonder. <<less
