Everything is just passable if you aren’t a big fan of this kind of cookie-cutter story, it’s neither worse nor better than others. I’ve made it to nearly 50 but can’t say that I really enjoyed it, I’ve dropped it mainly because of the execution and some smaller things that are pure cringe. Everyone always assumes MC and ML have something going on, even when they are just walking next to each other.
There’s constantly the cliché “someone comes in and catches them in a compromising pose” that was actually completely normal.
MC gets called “a small animal” every few chapters. I have no idea how I’m supposed to take that while simultaneously being expected to see MC as super OP. The biggest downfall is, how boring it is.
Third person omniscient can cause that, especially when the villains are included and the foreshadowing so blunt that the writer could very well just outright tell you what’s going to happen, because you can easily put it together anyway. Try it if you really like interstellar mermaids and aren’t in the mood for anything complex, then it’s an okay novel.
