Very sweet, cute, adorable and fluffy... there is no huge plot or angst.... just a little very entertainment industry story setting with 2 sweet leads... a beautiful. read... thanking the author and the translator for bringing us this piece of gem 💎.

Doing that brings no harm to the MC and even helps him. The MC doesn't even feel too bothered by it after the initial grumbling.

And the above is pretty early in the story. The rest of the story he is very respectful and caring.

This is not a fast paced or high tension filled novel. Its slice of life and nothing bad happens.

Good stress reliever.

The only thing I didn't like was

The strict Top/Bottom "rules". Its like they've never heard of switches. Or normal gay people. Not everything is about penetrative s*x. Who tops isn't important! Sure, its satisfying to read in novels but in a novel that is Shounen Ai, it shouldn't matter to the MC/ML. Thankfully, some Side Characters called the MC out on this. Idk its just s*upid and unnessary.

This novel is a feel good novel with basically no drama, almost completely smooth relationship progress and almost no antagonists. People who seemed to the antagonists at first turned out to be friendly in the end with only one exception. And that exception only appeared once, only to be ignored and pushed aside anticlimactically.

Even the netizens who are usually a mix between fans and Anti-Fans in other novels were very docile in this novel. There were basically no antis, just happy and humorous fans and passerbys. So no real bashing... more>> or verbal abuse directed towards the main leads in sight.

Which leads me to our MC, our salted fish Gary Stu who claims to be a 1 but is actually a 0. Dude is hella relatable with his salted fish attitude and anime-addiction. The ML is perfectly tailored to fit the MC, whether it is his cooking skills, his persistence or his gentleness/doting attitude.

The plot was okay for the most part. I enjoyed the unrealistically friendly and funny attitude of the netizens. The ML's dad was a bit disappointing, though. Felt kinda useless, that guy...

Either way, the story was still fine overall so feel free to pick this one up if you are in need for something light-hearted. <<less

Not my fav showbiz, but ive read too many 🙈, a few plotholes and a salted fish that doesnt try hard enough to be a salted fish!!! (It's in the tittle, just try harder!!)

Anyway good quick read, with good MC and ML, good relationship and the description for the movies where great, I would really like to see the "famous general".

Overall it's funny and enterteining.

Another title for this novel could have been: 'How to hook a big salted fish using small dried fishes as bait' lol.
It's been a while since I read a danmei set in the glam chinese showbiz. But this is not my favourite because of many little things in the first half of the book: we barely see ML, there was zero romance since MC not in the least interested or attracted to ML, the love trio kept piling up the misunderstandings (not angsty misunderstandings but still frustrating), there was too much fillers, too much focus on TianJing, and

even a botched confession scene due to plot-contrived phone call like in some shitty soap opera.

The second half of the novel was more enjoyable with more couple interactions and more fluff and more of MC's lazy foodie otaku persona that I love so much.

I’m really quite happy with this novel. I can’t say there is something very unique but it’s light, funny and without much drama. It’s a really good read if you want to lighten your mood or if you a tired from all this angst.

There is not much of main characters growing, because our MC had already worked hard in his previous life. So, let’s have a good and easy life. But it’s not that easy to be a salted fish if you are an MC and ML is very interested... more>> in you.

I like how the plot goes, like the romance pace and MC character very much. Especially, the last one.

Really recommend to try it out.A pleasant read and translation is also nice. <<less

I’m sorry. The start was reall cool I swear, but I got tired in the middle cause the MC changed drastically? Maybe its cause he was deprived of those emotions in his prev life but, his personality became all about dried fish 🥲 I got fed up with it. ML is cool and all but he’s taking all of MC’s coolness that I liked in the beginning huhu. I’m also not that fond of the program, foodie journal? Or smthng, that they are focusing on.. Everything went down for me... more>> after the contest huhu

ANW, the beginning was really catchy and its worth a try! If u also dont feel like it in the middle then u can drop it but if u do then that’s good! Who doesn’t want to finish a story that they’re interested in 😌 <<less

It's alright, it's a cute isekai novel. The original shou and gong are there, I thought it was interesting that they both like the MC so their relationship became rivals instead.

3 stars because honestly some of the plot points aren't really tight enough. Signing contracts behind the MC's back and the MC not knowing, the foodie program being somewhat disorganized and lack substance/clear objectives of what it's about. The world building elements in the novel is really loose, like loose enough that it's a little itchy even when you're not... more>> actively looking at it.

The MC's personality at the start was nice, but soon it became very one dimensional. Never been a fan of people who think making their entire personality centered around food is good 'character'. There's not much structure/hierarchy, it's not very well-organized -- technically, every character is a cannon fodder. There's no difference between if it's manager Gao or any other characters who says this or that to the MC, in terms of dialogue or their own characteristics they'd be all the same. It's like, lowered IQ. Even the MC himself makes weird decisions that makes the overall logic and immersive-ness a little weak. For an entertainment industry theme novel, it really does a lack luster job of using the genre + logic in the world to build up plot + character. A little disappointing, because there's a lot of potential to be good. But if you're really in a drought and really need an ent biz novel -- you might enjoy this one!

I think this would've been a good novel if I hadn't just finished reading 'after the vicious cannon fodder was reborn' -- the MC here reminds me of (shen yu) -- the 'white lotus' with a 'protag halo' who makes everyone around them 'fall in love with them' for no reason at all. Lowers everyone's IQ, plus seems to be liked just for 'speaking/talking honestly' -- these kind of traits, it's nice when it has a purpose. But if it's too one dimensional, it doesn't work...

In the end, I couldn't stomach the MC and I really don't care about the CP. I think I would've liked it abit, if there's more logic that makes sense, like the ML and how he thinks, who he is as a person. As it is, he's just as bland as every other cannon fodder, it's almost like the only person who has an actual background and personality is the MC. You can see why it feels like a doll house -- the set up is pretty, the dolls are interacting, but there's no substance or real-ness to anything. The only one playing here is the MC, the rest aren't even 'good' enough to have depth to their characters. It's a little bit.... insulting. Not to mention the lens really focus on the romance side of the story - so if you're really not into the CP or like any of the main character involved, you won't like this story much. <<less

I'm so friggin in love with this. I love the development. It's a nice and sweet slow burn. I love that there isn't any crazy dog-blood drama (although I do love me some dog-blood drama lol) and that everything's mixed really well. Great job on the translation and the translators honestly. I laughed so hard at some parts.
