Haon was troubled by his declining esper abilities.

He failed to protect his guide at a mission and was criticized by Cha Yugeon, an S-rank esper who always argues with him.

“Why send a guy like him?”

“You’ve just increased the trouble for no reason.”

Cha Yugeon kept poking at Haon’s nerves and managed to infuriate him through their verbal clashes.

In the end, Haon got angry and makes something important to him transparent.

“Take it back quickly! Or I will kill you myself!”

“It looks good on you. So, why pick a fight in the first place?”

However,

“Mr. Park Haon, an S-class guide, has been appointed as the guide for Mr. Cha Yugeon, an S-class esper.”

Unable to find a way to undo what has been done, he not only became a guide to Cha Yugeon, but also his dedicated partner.

In the continuous cycle of fateful entanglements, will there be a solution to their unruly entangled relationship?

While the premise of the story is good--actually really good. The character named Cha Yuegeon is so annoying and frustrating to the point that I have to dock points.

This isn't me, the reader, of wanting flawless characters with no human traits, or a cool and mysterious gentleman ML--the issue is that Yugeon is childish, tsundere (insult), selfish, and just plain dumb all in one. He deeply lacks so much EQ that it's painful to read.

At this point I don't know if I should hand the author their flowers, since they... more>> so expertly bring out my emotions (mainly frustrations) out of me while I'm reading or if I should call them out as being shallow and trope-y. Tropes are never inherently bad. They are a tool used to help authors write better, but when the reader is given a fresh and exciting story premise in an oversaturated niche that is also full of gorgeous stories--this story won't be able to stand up or even along with them.

As for now, I will passively stick with the story, because sometimes you're in the mood for some fast food.

Kudos to the translator especially, because they've done a gorgeous job making the story easy to follow and understand, even when there's a lot of nuances littered all over the story.

Will try to comeback and update my review another time. <<less

It was entertaining enough for me to pay a little in advance chapters to see if anything interesting would happen, but aside from having a new character introduced, there wasn’t much.

The male lead feels one dimensional and I completely sympathize with the main character’s thoughts on him. In the first place, I don’t even understand why they have such a horrible relationship where Cha Yugeon was bullying him to begin with—since we weren’t given a real reason, I’ll just assume he has a nasty personality??

There’s no real reason for Yugeon... more>> as of now to actually like Park Haon. His sudden possessiveness and positive regard for Haon seems to stem solely from the espers-being-crazy-for-their-guides dynamic and while that’s a good way to push their relationship development, without the addition of anything else, the romance here feels very forced. From not only Haon’s POV but even Yugeon’s, it’s a very sudden and jarring change.

I think it could be really interesting if this story decided to explore the loss of agency Yugeon feels in his sudden attachment to Haon, especially considering how that would mirror the way in which Haon feels/felt powerless while his esper powers were slowly declining over time. There’s a lot to find terrifying in not being able to control your own feelings and powers, and that alone could be an interesting point for Yugeon to explore, allowing him to empathize with Haon and come to the realization that how he was bullying him was wrong. As of where I’ve read to so far tho, all Haon has gotten is a small “sorry.” <<less

  1. So far it's good, easy to follow
  2. Giving enemies to lovers trope, and I like both their character
  3. Though we probably need to explore and explain the world a little more, if feels too simplified if ur not just going with the flow and only here for the "romance"
