Ren Xingliu who had his fill of wind and frost: I’m beat. Simplicity is the way to go.

Ren Xingliu, the ignorant, incompetent, reckless and daring young master of the Ren Family, was about to graduate. Everyone was waiting to watch him turn the Ren Family completely on its head. One with malicious intentions even deliberately introduced him to an honest person without status or background, Bai Juanqiu.

Never did he expect Ren Xingliu to be so content with this honest person.
Ren Xingliu: He seemed to be someone who could live a carefree life with. Alright, let’s make do with this.

Bai Juanqiu had been putting on his honest persona for twenty years, but those people still wouldn’t let him live in peace and went ahead and introduced him to a notorious silk pants. Bai Juanqiu decided to stop pretending.
Afterward…
Bai Juanqiu: Well, let me just eat my delicious words, because I can keep pretending for two more years.

Cute, funny, sweet, short, and simple.

Really simple, not much of a plot, everything resolved quickly, OP MC and ML.

Read if you want to take a break from heavy plots.

It's SOOOO Precious!!! I even recheck the tags many times to make sure it's actually doesn't tagged as Cute Protagonist. Why? Because OMG our MC is so ADORKABLE HILARIOUS I LOVE HIM!!!

He act Zen but also Dork. He act Calm Salted Fish like an Old man ready to retire, but also Cute when he's into some stuff or teasing ML with his innocent look. But also love how he shows his skills that makes people look up to him even more.

I truly Love him!!!

And of course ML also end up... more>> Loving him too and keep falling deep. MC act totally different from any of his expectations, but in endearing or cute and hilarious way. They're having fun so much together, it's so Precious!!!

I want mooooreee!!!! ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ

I LOVE IT SOOOOOO FREAKING FCKING MUCH!!!

Finished at 3 October 2024:

After I finished it I still want mooooreee!!!

I'm gonna miss MC & ML. Especially ML because he's such an Unique Cinnamon Roll!

The ending is great. Everything revealed between MC and ML. No hole whatsoever. But I still think it's too short and I wish there's more.... Lol 😂 😭

10/10 no doubt. <<less

It was alright. I kinda zoned out at times because the author looooves to drag things out. You read an entire chapter and realize nothing much happened and it could have been shortened into a paragraph or two.

Other than that, the novel was harmless which is both good and bad. Good because there was really nothing wrong with it. The MC and ML are smart and likeable, the villains get slapped as they should, and the story is overall sweet. But it's also bad because it's a little bland. No... more>> tension, the characters don't doubt themselves when it comes to romance, the side characters are pretty one-dimensional, MC and ML have a ton of money ofc, because we can't have a CN or KN with a couple who isn't swimming in cash.

The whole "transmigrated and became a general then came back to his young modern self" is the cornerstone of this novel yet it feels like the author came up with the idea on the fly and never bothered to dig deeper into it. It's just a convenient tool to explain why the MC is suddenly super OP and smart. Why do I say that? Because other than being skilled and perfect out of the blue, the MC still acts like a 18yr old kid with zero problem. Apparently, he spent decades living and fighting in an ancient era but he has zero troubles adapting to his "new" life. I mean, surely there was something more to do with the concept? Does the MC not get lost? Get sick? Get PTSD from his old battles? Get overwhelmed seeing his mother again? Has to remember how modern appliances and cars work again? Does he not miss anything from his old life, companions or places? Does he not get disturbed by the fact that his once well built and resilient body is now small and soft, with no muscles? No instances of him thinking he can push or break something with ease but ending up hurting himself because he forgot that he isn't in the body of an experienced general?

What did the author do to show how the MC adapted to his sudden second transmigration? They simply wrote that he spent a whole night on his phone because his missed it, that's it. Like... come on.

I can't help but feel miffed about the missing potential and the simplicity of it all. There was a way to keep the story sweet while still digging deeper into MC's past experiences and how it affects him. Through the entire novel I couldn't help but feel like the MC was indeed a fresh 17 (18?) yr old boy and not someone who's lived an entire lifetime already.

I would still recommend it, though. For those who yearn for a healthy BL romance. <<less

Very funny and relaxing read

MC is a cheeky sweetheart and ML is cunning but gentle

short story but the plot is fairly simply so it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome

that being said, I’m a little disappointed that the ‘god of war’ part doesn’t really come into play. MC is intelligent and there’s a team building mini arc where he’s OP, but the whole thing where he’s a general and can fight amazingly never really comes up due to some situation in the present timeline. I kept waiting for him to fight or... more>> show some incredible feats that got him him the ‘god of war’ title, but no dice. Which makes sense because his OG body isn’t of a fighter, but it still feels like a missed opportunity. There should’ve been something. <<less

DO NOT READ THIS NOVEL IF THE TITLE OR SYNOPSIS SOUNDS INTERESTING TO YOU!!!

Technically, there's nothing absolutely awful with the novel. But everything from title to premises is a scam. So it is absolutely disappointing. I kept reading because it does start fine, but I kept waiting for something good to happen and nothing does. And it was short enough that I finished it by skim-skipping half the chapters at a time.

Nothing about the story has anything to do with how MC was a "God of War", he doesn't display... more>> any actual intellect or abilities, whether it's tactical or physical. And I can understand that he's returned to a weakling body and wants to just lazy and live a retired comfortable life, but the setting of being a rich heir to a huge corporation completely makes the decision seem senseless and wasteful. Because he keeps conveniently changing his attitude as things come up, especially when his mom finally puts him to work at the company. So are you actually going to wise up and help your mom or not? Pick a direction damn it!

There's "faceslap" moments with the MC, but it's all just to shove down our throat that MC used to be a piece of sh*t and that people who are JUSTIFIED in their contempt and distrust of him turn into ret*rded antagonists unless they're convenient to the plot armor and rich/smart enough to become his backers instead.

There's "faceslap" moments with the ML too and that was such a damn disappointment also. They don't actually do anything to the abusive family, and the abusive family who was smart enough to run their own company and be individually wealthy (even if they used other's fortunes to start it) suddenly turn out to be too s*upid to do or cover up anything? Suddenly they just waste away and the company fails within months even without MC or ML's direct roadblocks?

The comedy gets stale quick and then vanishes after the first quarter of the novel, there's no emotional heartstring moments at all, action and excitement is non-existent, faceslap is unsatisfactory, the author only knows how to drag drag drag and brush up the wordcount.

What a bore. This is everything I hate about subpar slice-of-life and I didn't even come here to read slice-of-life. Nothing interesting implied in the summary is there, the title isn't even worth its weight in the air it takes to say it out loud. <<less

Very sweet and funny short story.

I really like how their development (feelings and relationship changes) were written in a subtle way. Like, they don't say it but their actions gradually changes and they realize it without much drama or resistance (´͈ᴗ`͈ ✿) very lovely! They have a mutual understand that only old couples could have. Even their secrets are no so secret for each other.

Also, every chapter got me giggling s*upidly. The comedy was really good. Sometimes the chapter starts really sweet, really romantic but the end got me laughing... more>> out loud. MC is so chaotic and ML attitude is always "well, what can I do if my heart is already his" 🤣

The translation is very satisfactory too. I loved every footnote! Thank you very much, dear translator! ♡ (˶˃ᆺ˂˶) <<less

Short but sweet, a new favorite.

Truly a refreshing piece of fluff for whenever you need to clear your mind from angsty or more dramatic works. Much of the drama involved in our characters' pasts are already done and dusted, like the MC's surely brutal decade (s) of transformation from a spoiled playboy to a beloved war minister, or the ML's rough decade biding his time in the Bai family. Instead when they happen to meet by a work of fate and find each other appealing to the eyes, they provide... more>> each other the comfort and security that they could not find in those years of struggle. The process by which they fall in love is really natural, and despite our MC realizing later, our ML didn't feel frustrated but instead decided to work hard to secure the only light in his life. Fortunately our MC has already realized his own feelings and fallen in love as well so we get our happy ending.

Wish the story were longer so we get more than just like 5 chapters after they do actually get together. It's so hard to find the raws for extras now, the one I read had the last extra slightly cut off. Sigh. <<less

Good novel, but I would say that there's some false advertising /lh here. I'd give it a 4.5

The "God of War" part is super minor. Almost irrelevant. The MC's personality doesn't really match it, and all the God of War stuff does is serve as an reason for MC to change from his playboy past and give him the opportunity to learn and flex some cool skills. It's pretty forgotten for most of the novel. If you came here solely for that, maybe don't read the novel. You can see... more>> some negative reviews here from people who came for that and got disappointed lmao.

That said, it's still a good short novel. I probably would've gotten bored if it was longer, but the author decided to end it at a good spot and the pacing wasn't bad. The MC, although not a War God in personality, has a pretty solid personality. He's not annoying or s*upid. He's kinda funny. The ML is also not toxic. They don't have s*upid misunderstandings, and the romance is cute. Side characters could be more interesting, but they're decent enough for a short novel.

Things go pretty smoothly so the novel isn't the most exciting / nerve-wracking, but it's an enjoyable novel regardless. Almost slice-of-life w/ some faceslapping.

Also, the translator at CG is using "direct translation, " so things are translated literally... with the actual meanings clarified in the TL notes. Not a big deal (Translator also explains/warns you), but I got a little tired of clicking the TL notes so often XD <<less

Sweet, cute, and short

That was a great read, as expected from the author. Read this after Industrial Cultivation and realised that they wrote New Times New Hell as well. So its 3 for 3 right now.

I love the characters, especially the MC. Love the natural progression of the CP as well. Highly recommend for a sweet, palette cleansing read

This is a hilarious short read where the change in the MC leaves everyone speechless. The ML is super doting to the MC and they basically got along right off the bat and then fell in love with each other. Funny and entertaining.

A short and fun read. Good for an in-between read. Not plot heavy. MC is OP, ML is also kinda OP. There’s not much drama. While I liked it, I don’t think this would stand out much for me and I would probably forget about this in a few weeks or so. Still, would recommend, especially when you just came from reading tragic or angsty stuff.

Light, entertaining story. The plot isn't complex. I enjoyed it in that MC, Ren Xingliu, has emotionally matured and comes back to the pile of mess he made before he transmigrated. His embarrassment is fun to watch. Also liked how he fixed his mistakes and made his long-suffering grandpa and mom happy.

MC and ML's, Bai Juanqiu, interaction is logical and sweet. It's understandable that ML would fall for MC. The ending is of course happy.

Spoiler

In the end, ML's identity is the owner of a successful company. His uncle had stolen his inheritance when his parents died when he was young. His uncle then suppressed ML in various ways, so ML pretended to be a regular white collar worker. After ML's company was stable, he confronted his uncle and sent him to jail.

Actual rating: ~4.4, voted 5 because I think the novel is rated a little lower than what it's worth.

Nah, cause the first part of this novel is actually hilarious, the author is such a comedian. It's funnier if you have some basic understandings of chinese sayings/slang and how chinese people usually behave on the internet and such, but the translator left loads of translation notes so its not a big problem if you don't.

I always felt like comedy as a genre is either gonna be a hit or a miss,... more>> depending on;

a) whether the author is actually funny or they just think they are, and

b) your own sense of humour compared to the author's sense.

For me this novel's comedy was definitely a hit. But the later parts of the novel are less comedy heavy and more focused on the emotional development, which is more serious. The leads have a very healthy relationship, and they way they get along is very easy. I didn't really feel that they had heart-moving chemistry, but they were cute.

This is not your typical brainless, face-slapping every second chapter, nonsensical rich young master plot. Everyone pretty much had braincells, maybe apart from the ML's dumbass cousin but hey dumb people are plenty irl too, so ig its pretty realistic. The plot is very focused on the romance and characterising the main characters. The plot isn't too cliche, and never made no sense. There's actually not much drama here, which is quite nice actually.

Overall, nice read. Great quality, but not outstanding. The first chapters had me wheezing. <<less

I liked this novel - I thought it was a comedic and easy going read. There is some drama but its either just face slapping or glossed over so it doesn't feel like theres much emotional depth in this novel. The relationship is very smooth and wholesome which makes the story very relaxing to read. There are definitely plot points that only exist for comedic effect but the story is short enough that it doesn't overstay its welcome. I would recommend it if you're interested in a relaxing read and... more>> the couple dynamics in the summary sound interesting to you! <<less

AAAAAAHHHH MY HEART ❤️ 😭❤️

I'm so so happy I got to read this, and at such a perfect time. This was a great pick-me-up. The humor had me snorting and outright laughing, giggling like a weirdo

I loved the MC and the ML and all the side characters. While it's not a super epic tale of adventure, it was a lovely enjoyable read. I wish it was longer, and I wouldn't have minded another hundred chapters of MC and ML going through life, but I still appreciate the pacing.

There was no... more>> unnecessary angst caused by misunderstandings, but just a careful weaving of a story between two very unlikely individuals, who were honest in their feelings despite their relationship pretty much starting out as a farce.

I loved this so much. Definitely a recommended one for those looking for something light, fluffy, and sweet, anchored down with a pretty solid story structure and lots of good humor. <<less

Given the short length of this novel, there is a limitation to the extent of being as memorable or emotionally touching (to explain the four stars) but the leads had chemistry, brains, the story's pacing was great and I really liked how there is a clear focus on showing the process of both the MC and ML gradually falling in love with each other. Might be one of the most realistic works ive read!

Loved the MC personality because yes he was adorable!! But more than that, I loved the way... more>> his character showed that people change to become a better person and it doesnt have to be because a whole new person transmigrated and replaced them (which seems to be a recurring theme in bl and bg works recently). Also the author, grace her, gave the cold and powerful ceo male lead a real personality for once whilst still being the charismatic king that he is which was sooo satisfying to read about. <<less

I need more stories like this.

This is a hot take—I love stories that are set post-transmigration. I don’t think it’s as common, but I’m not saying that it’s never been done before. I’ve read my fair share, but I always appreciate the ones that are well-written. I love this novel. It’s sweet, funny, & not the slightest bit angsty. It’s a happy read if you’re on the search for a quick, engaging read.
