A really nice O x B story that is a different kind of take and outlook on the typical "fated partners, AO" pairing. There's no real MC or ML, the story follows both SW and XH equally. It's refreshing to see SW's passion for his career, how he uses his secondary gender to his advantage and how the story gives an actual reason for why he's incredibly tired of alpha's panting over him. XH on the other hand isn't as fleshed out, but his devotion to SW makes me smile... more>> because oof he really outstanding. As a couple, they're really nice! Compatible (personality wise), competent husbands who work together flawlessly.

The plot isn't complicated or surprising: SW finds his fated alpha who tries to chase SW, XH gets disheartened but SW scoffs at the idea of dropping anything and everything for his "fated alpha" just because they're biologically compatible, XH and SW get together in the end. The "antagonist", Teng Rui, isn't really a bad kid; just extremely naive and acts like he's seen one too many romance movies. He is a little annoying at times for chasing SW when SW is clearly not interested, but to be fair in their world fated AO couples usually do end up together so he could have thought he just needed to try a bit harder. Either way, he doesn't scheme or try anything underhanded; he give an honest effort to change and pursue SW to the best of his ability but alas TR is just too childish and puppy-like for the mature and professional SW.

Overall it's a great story that refreshingly ends in a true O x B pairing without any plot twists or sudden secondary gender changes. I like that TR isn't outlandishly villainous and there's no real drama/conflict to be had. I do think there could have been a few things padded out more but that's within the nature of it being a short story. If you're looking for a quick story to read, I definitely recommend giving this one a shot. <<less

Ok, usually I don't like ABO stories, usually due to the fact that every relationship and action is dictated by pheremones, and that its usually only Omegas and Alphas who get a happy ending.

But I completely adored this story. It went against all the ABO tropes I disliked, and portrayed a relationship that is based on trust and love rather than just pheromones and fate. The couple is super cute, and I love how the 'antagonist' is not really an antagonist. Just a naive fellow rather than a malicious one.... more>> 9/10 <<less

I loooove this natural-progression plot :333333

This novels also gives you a felling of "I would love to read an extended version that could cover all the details QAQ"..... but I'm happy to be able to know this version as well~~

... more>> If you're not a big fan of AOB system, it's kinda of a fresh and welcome version of it, so don't worry and go for it!

If you're not very familiar with AOB, this one is very easy to understand, short, so you don't need to read like 100 chapters to get the idea, and avoid many of the s*upid chiches that usually happens!

In any case, please give it a try XD <<less

I am absolutely in love with the MC's character! This is why mature characters is a gem!

Despite the typical ABO fantasy world, the MC (omega) is not going to back down and be reduced to the stereotypical omega of a fragile, gentle breeding machine. The MC is a powerful lawyer and knows exactly what he wants in life, taking sh*t from no one. This MC is my idol!

In comparison, the ML and side characters do not shine as much as the MC, but this is expected with a short story.... more>> Overall, I very much enjoyed reading about a mature character. We need more characters like this MC in other stories! <<less

We need novels like this where tropes are being subverted! I can just imagine how would this turn out if written by another author — my boy XN would be the third party ಥ‿ಥ

Also, I admire how cool and steadfast SW is! Definitely a role model for other omegas.

Overall I like the message this story brings.

I really liked the preset of this novel, I just wish they would've developed the relationship between the MC and the ML a bit more.... I feel like I read more about the interaction between the second ML and MC more than the primary ML..

Also, I wish the author could've written a better ending for the second ML.... being a similar age I can understand the naivety, but they really didn't treat the second ML well (or even civilly at all) so that made me sad more than anything.

5 STARS!! (Idk why it only set to 3) TpHIS IS ONE OF THE BEST (IF NOT THE BEST) ABO STORIES OUT HERE.I LOVE THAT (EVEN WITH THE ABO SETTING) IT'S STILL REALISTIC AND RATIONAL, AND FLUFFY. I JUST WISH IT WERE A BIT LONGER.

I've read OxO before and it was such a beautiful story! And when I saw this, I was like let me try this too! And boy, I am not disappointed! I like ABO's that breaks away from the stereotype, but don't get me wrong AxO is my favorite pairings! But it's always nice to read something different from time to time.

I really felt bad for Teng Rui, Shen Wenjun could've treated him nicely. He's such a sweet young man, striving to better himself to match SW, unfortunately he encountered a... more>> different kind of omega. Hope he finds someone who will cherish and love him.

I like Xie Han's character, makes my heart smile. He really loves SW since they were young and he's been there for him whenever he needs him. I think they are really a perfect match!

Overall, highly recommended ABO! <<less

A 4.5 at best, this was a really good ABO that demolishes the idealism of a “fated pairing” & the omega-alpha status quo. As a diehard hopeless romantic & a crazy pisces, I have to confess that I’m a sucker for fated pairings, soulmates, love at first sight—they are addictive! But I understand that what I seek is sometimes far from the borders of reality. Stories that gravitate more towards realism often bring me back to common sense. Ideally, yes it would be phenomenal to meet your 1 in a... more>> million, but to throw away your most treasured source of peace & comfort for it isn’t something that I would realistically do.

This story is a painful reality check (FOR ME) that a friends to lovers route is probably one of the best romance storylines to go for in real life. I don’t often read omega-beta plots, but this one is something that I’d read over & over again if it were longer & had more details. Short but gratifying! <<less

A very interesting take on the ABO universe. To show how alphas can be led around by their..... pheromones. I liked how decisively the MC made his decision and left no room for mistakes or problems. I only felt a little sorry for his 'destined mate' because the kid was really way too immature and totally wrong for him. It was also nice to see a beta getting a happy ending. I also liked that this was a couple that had compatible personalities and caring between them as the basis... more>> of their relationship. Would have liked to see one more chapter of how their life ended up, and maybe the discarded alpha finding an omega that suited him as a person. I gave this four stars because it was so very, very light. You can fit a lot into a short story if you do it right, and this was nearly there. <<less

That was actually really cute. I didn't expect an ABO novel to be so sweet. It's basically a realization plot where both the MC and ML are in love with each other since the beginning of the novel.

Was a bit scared that the fated A was going to be the ML but thank god the real ML ended up being the childhood friend. A rare BxO pairing, and they’re so sweet together. A short read but very worth it!!

A really good short ABO story that subverts the cliche A/O pairing and portrays a love story between two people who are not 'fated' to be together.

Too bad it was so short, I wish there was more. It would've been interesting to delve into the repercussions of breaking the mold because I presume they would have to deal with pressure from all sides considering how everyone automatically assumes that your 'fated one' is who you should be with regardless of anything else. Like, the MC's bro accepted the 'fated alpha'... more>> as his bro's future husband with no questions asked even though he knows his brother's personality and hate for alphas. Plus the issue of no babies which I'm sure is an even more controversial topic in an ABO China. But I guess that's what fanfiction is for. <<less

There's definitely a sense of comfort in those "fated relationship" type stories; what better to enjoy in novels a sense of certainty or belief that is impossible in real life?

But I especially like it when ABO worlds change things up a bit.

Though I would like to see "tongxue" translated to "student, " and "baobei" to "baby." Considering that CN people calling their SO "baobei" was influenced from Western culture in the first place.

Incredibly well-developed short story about choosing love and trust over 'fate' and impulse. The subtext in the Beta characters' actions and dialogue are heartbreaking as he reveals 15 years of love in the softest way ever, all so that he can guarantee the person he loves can find happiness even if it means crushing his own heart. Love this story's take on relationships in an ABO setting.

I'm usually not a huge fan of Omegaverse because of the biased setting but surprisingly I liked this a lot. The narrative was short, simple, sweet, a tad bit of misunderstanding that doesn't last long and resolves in a satisfying way.

The ML and the MC are childhood friends with a very sweet dynamic and act like an old married couple. The MC is your typical cool beauty while the ML is a calm and easy going personality.

Ahhhh, I love rare pairs so much especially when the other is a Beta. 😭 Xie Han's struggles when it comes to his second s*x is so well presented. The angst is so good.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR SURE!

I support relationship between MC and ML but I wish MC could have done better communication towards college boy rather than straight out bashing him.
