This was awesome! Zhang Yunsheng (the MC) was an absolute badass and I thoroughly enjoyed the trajectory of her second life.

Where in the past, her half-brother was a coddled s*xual offender (amongst other things). I would have had serious issues when he finally grew into the person (physically) who she remembered. He didn’t become that person, but he still looked like him.

That she raised up the people around her rather than face-slapping was really good. Especially as she did so without conscious sentimentality was also *chef’s kiss* The superhero move from enemies to best friends (with her eventual bff) was also really good.

The author’s light handling of the ML - who doesn’t have a presence throughout half the novel - was just perfect. He wasn’t necessary until she wanted to involve him in her life. Everything between them hinges on her decisions. No overbearing ML here.

Outside of a few pronoun issues, the translation was quite good.

I will definitely reread this and recommend for those looking for a strong MC who doesn’t go OOC at all. <<less

I love how the story progressed. There's no immediate liking to characters involved like her step siblings and everything was planned out carefully. Definitely a recommended read.

I really enjoyed reading about Xu Lichen. It would've been fun as we get to see him continue to change his ways for her. I thought their relationship dynamics was really interesting but I do get that she feels she is too "old" or mature for him now since she's technically an adult in a 15-16 year old body. His friendship with FL is fun though and even more so when he became friends with the ML.

Zhang Zhiyuan is also pretty cute and I wished she had some puppy love during her HS years.

I didn't really feel the chemistry between her and the ML. Felt like they were really logical people who got together with each other. It felt mundane. But I did feel that ML doted on FL alot in the last few chapters.

I liked that he respected her wishes not to get married and in the end, after all her inner conflict about marriage was slowly being healed by his presence, she would say "I do". That was sweet.

The novel is interesting because of how nuanced it every character is. Its not totally black and white much like the real world. Especially with the scum dad who tried to be close to his kids.

Its an interesting novel that I quite enjoyed but as mentioned, it just gave me privileged kid vibes haha. Maybe cause her struggles are just to not be a bad student or go astray. There isn't much drama otherwise. Her stepmother honestly didn't pit her that much either and all the MC's problems were mostly her doing in the previous life. She just got her head and brains back on the right setting. <<less

The best I've read in a long time.

Mature writing, realistic (for love story) plot, amazing, sensible and clever MC and ML. And the relationship between them was so sweet, understanding and, well, mature. If every relationship is like the one in this story, just so good and pretty much realistic, how great it would be?

Other characters were flashed out good, relationships as a whole were amazing as they were the main theme in this story. It was realistic and great all through, I didn't even have that "dead filler feeling"... more>> you can find in some stories that are too dragged out. Just greatly paced, lovely novel.

i don't understand why the explanation for every wrong thing she did in her previous life is because she was young and felt lonely. It wasn't stated but it was implied and the idea of entitlement is there and it made me a bit uncomfortable. But I guess it was needed for it to become a story. Still it could have been better or a bit different.",)

I really enjoyed reading this one, the MC used her time properly after her rebirth and I like her because she's not too op but she has the brain and attitude to go through. I normally go for revenge but this novel kind of made sense.. She helped to grow her half siblings and her relationship with the ML was also beautiful

Someone tried to get footage of the protagonist's nude 16-year-old self by installing a spy cam in her bathroom and had planned to upload it to shady websites for others to see.

A must-read. The title is doing the story a disservice.
Your first guess and association with the title & synopsis would be your usual face-slapping, revenge, a modern-day prince chasing after a modern-day princess trope.

It's not like that at all. The characters all have their own individual depths, and even if you have some shallow bystanders around, it doesn't feel like they're your mere cardboard cutout of a school play. There are hints of drops of dog blood but all in all considerably and notably mild.

The amount of spotlight on the main characters feels just right, it didn't seem like the whole world was revolving around them, giving off a better sense of realism.

The most extensive praise I have for this novel has to be the protagonist, who didn't experience a ridiculous 180° transition from her former self. Neither was she disillusioned over past faults and tried to pin them on her next best outlet. She has made changes, of course, but you could see glimpses of her former self.
I adored her growth which was featured in multiple stages.

Most rebirth novels give an overly straight path to their protagonist and often you do not see the resemblance between those pre-and-post rebirth protagonists.
The author's maturity sometimes would overshadow the protagonist's setup.

However with this one, when it was often mentioned that she herself was a college student in the first timeline, she didn't feel like one, she still had a little bit of an uncontrollable fire in her temperament. She wasn't always sure of what was right and what was wrong, much like a teenager in the midst of transitioning to a young adult.

The half-siblings are redeemable. This is not a revenge story and thankfully we finally get to see some who can change their ways and show the audience that nobody is inherently evil.

The father, despite being a scum, is a refreshing kind of scum?
He does indulge the protagonist to some extent and would never let her lack or suffer in the basics of life. She can easily talk back to him or act disrespectful, even though he's old-fashioned and has a patriarchal viewpoint, he's not someone who wouldn't let his daughter speak her mind or physically act out on his children.

The romance, oh boy, the romance, despite being a mere subplot was such a sweet one from start to finish, better than I could've hoped for and better than most modern romance-focused novels I've seen as of late.
The male lead was so patient with her, unlike most affluent type male leads, he's clean and void of red flags. He's sociable, feels human (non-iceberg, would choke on his drink in some scene like a normal human being, etc.), doesn't do an immediate and watertight background search on the female lead like a creeper, stalk, or force her to cohabit with him or anything.
He simply kept a respectful distance from her when he (20yr) first got to know her (16yr) after inquiring, seemingly to have forgotten her completely for the time being.
Only through multitudes of convenient fateful encounters, did he begin to act proactively and that was already when she had turned 17-18.
The pro-activeness wasn't one-sided either. (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Their relationship progress doesn't feel forced at all. Contract marriages and marriage convenience novel plots aside, once those couples got together it had been always a rush to get to the altar at the speed of a bullet train.
I love how this couple took things at their own pace and when both of them were ready.

Very sweet and ordinary Slice of Life rebirth story. It was different from my usual face slapping choices but I liked it none the less. It was exactly what I thought it would be so I gave it five stars. Overall, worth a read if you have too much free time.

It's a pretty refreshing novel in that the MC after rebirth doesn't go take revenge against the children (she thought she would, but then realized that many of them could be rehabilitated if their upbringing had been done better).

So what I enjoyed about this novel was some of the more refreshing / mature thought process by the author.

There is some face-slapping, but the focal point was more on the MC focusing on herself, doing right by herself, and also being able to take a step back and understand that her... more>> father had contributed a lot to her dissolution, so she stopped searching for her father's approval and rather grew up for herself.

The character development was done very well. MC doesn't get a personality transplant just because she was reborn. She still had a temper and was pretty violent (lmao).

I'm impressed that the stepsiblings in this case were not heavily villainized (the author took a super reasonable approach - they had no choice to be born, after all), and the MC's playboy dad had a lot of responsibility.

Tons of novels show illegitimate children either as pariahs of society or as <main characters counterattacking>, there's rarely a novel with the MC as a legitimate child whose author doesn't turn every other illegitimate child in the novel into mindless cannon fodder villains.

PS. I recommend Potatoteeth's review (the power dynamics in this novel are done well)

Is a not bad novel with a mid entertaining factor but I have read better with similar tags. The novel have a heavy slice of life feel and I won’t recommend if u are looking for heavy romance novel. Considering that this is a second chance novel, I can see the FL try to have a clear headed view in revenge which can be a good point and a bad point depending on your revenge preferences (personally I like myself some heavy face slapping). I loved this romance!!!The story is much more about reflecting on your mistakes, understanding who is to blame and who is not. All complicated family relationships, and it shows that a person is not entirely evil or good.

What a wonderful read! It was really comfortable to read and was at a great pace.

This is a story about a girl who was given a second chance in life and took it to live her life to the fullest. Unlike the typical face slapping rebirth stories, the story does not revolve around full on revenge against those who wronged her. Instead, this is a story about a girl who took this opportunity to work hard to live a better life and experience what she had missed out in her... more>> last life. Through it, she looked at what she had experienced in her past life through a new lense and slowly understood what she had missed out on before, understanding more about the people around her and also helping those who walked the wrong path before.

The story started off a few months prior to her entering high school and more than half of the story was about the change in dynamic and relationship development within her family during her high school year. It is understandable to pace it in such a way because the root cause of her death was ultimately due to her family and settling this would be one of the main thing to do to prevent herself from going down the wrong path, so I felt that the author did mange it really well. As things settles down in her family, the pace of the story is sped up so don't expect much from senior year, college and work life. I think it is paced appropriately because the entire story is for her to make up for her past mistake and once it was kinda settled, there isn't much to write about. As the story progresses, we can see how the MC changes her way of thought and slowly opens up to the poeple around her as she learns and experience new things. The romance was barely there but it was the "click" moment for her the and ML where they both had the "I-seem-yo-have-known-you-for-a-lifetime" vibe when they finally officially met. If I didn't know who the ML was I totally would have gotten it wrong hehehe! Ok maybe not because usually the first handsome cold male who did nothing horrible to the MC tends to be the ML so it was kinda obvious but for reals though, he was barely seen. The MC wasn't too OP (expect for her martial arts and the fact that she's s*upid rich) and most of the things she wanted, she had to work hard for. Though, I did feel that the MC's change into this cold, ruthless and matured persona was a bit dramatic given that she didn't have this character prior to her rebirth and she was only a 21 year old muddling her way through life at that point in life, but hey, let's park the change under the "she-experienced-such a-tragic-death" reason.

Also, I felt that some of her ideals (mentioned in her college phase) or maybe it was the way she said them was a little off but meh it wasn't much. Her character itself is a unique one, calm in the face of adversity but has a fiery temper temper when provoked (very violent when provoked). She is rarely softhearted, so I do pity some of the characters but that's her character so..*shrug*. She has major rich girl I-have-money-so-what vibes which is super cool and domineering.

Overall, if you're looking for a comfortable read, with alright-ish character development, great pacing with a good storyline this is definitely recommend! Casual readers just go for it!! <<less

I love this story and I also love how MC didn't focus on getting revenge after her rebirth but focused more on improving herself because she knew that by improving herself, she would get a better future for herself. It's not that she didn't resent her father and his mistress but she just thought that they weren't worth it. She chose to be close to her grandmother who was actually more powerful than her father.

This story focused more on MC's improvement rather than her romantic life. In fact, MC and... more>> ML only met officially in chapter 119 although ML already secretly paid attention to MC for a while. ML could get acquaintance with MC earlier if he wanted (they're from the same circle anyway) but he held himself because he knew that MC was still young so their relationship wouldn't go any further. MC also knew about that fact so she didn't try to search for ML after her rebirth. She focused more on herself first since she believed one day she would meet him again at the right time. Speaking of how MC and ML fell in love with each other, it was a bit fairytale like. They knew instantly that they're made for each other and it didn't take long for them to start dating.

But it took a long time for ML to convince MC to marry him. It's understandable though because MC was traumatized by her own father who was a serial cheater.

I also love MC's brotherhood with Xu Lichen. They liked each other in their previous life but never be together. In their current life, Xu Lichen once liked her too but later, he and MC simply treated each other as brothers.

The ending was quite satisfying although I still want more. It's just that:

MC's scum father never got his retribution. He still thought that he was a good father while in fact what he did so far was just throwing money to his kids. He never realize that he left a deep scar in MC's heart because of what he did.

I feel that this is the most down to earth rebirth story I ever read cept for the actual stories with being laid back as the main theme. There was obviously severe emotional baggage from past life - heavy baggage. But the unexpected positive flow of the plot doesn’t really take away the logic from the story. I feel that this possibility can be possible too. She was too distraught by her past life’s outcome that she came off more like an outsider to her current life. Like she didn’t... more>> actually relive her new life but came to introspect it. All throughout the story I felt like she’s still stuck in her past life unable to extricate herself until one day she proposed to ML. I feel that it was only then that she really started recognizing that she’s living a brand new life - the right path. So when the story ended there... it just felt abrupt to me emotionally but rationally I can understand. Wish there were more extras for the kiddo siblings and bro xu 😂 <<less

Great story. I like it very much. Pretty chilled, almost slice of life like flow, even in the last chapters, where much is condensed. Not your typical love story but the romance between the main leads is very strong in my opinion. It's just that it's in fact only rather a minor part. Much more important and much deeper examined is the struggle of the female lead to simply live a better life. All this in front of a background of wealthy families. Also, the reincarnation aspect is very strong... more>> and gives the story an interesting background. Almost all characters are very well defined and their development is very interesting. The only one dimensional, and in my opinion unnecessarily s*upid, character is the step mom. I have never met someone near this in my whole life. The rest is pretty realistic but the main focus is definitely on the female characters. I like how everything is rather down to earth and how the story avoids all the typical annoying cnovel tropes.

Very recommended for more mature readers. <<less

I like it. Actually, this novel is not too focused on romance. I would say it's 80% family relationship and 20% romance. The 'real' meeting between ML and FL will only happen later on 100+++ chapters if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, I don't have strong feelings about the FL. She is strong, smart, hardworking, not arrogant to the bones but also not too humble. She is also not unreasonable. If I have to complain about anything, I think it's those times when I feel like she's emitting the i-know-what-im-saying-because-i-am-reborn vibe.... more>> It doesn't happen frequently. This could also be a misjudgement on my part. Overall, she's fine.

I also don't have strong opinions or impression about the ML. I guess it's because my focus and interest is already invested in her siblings, Xu Lichen, and her grandma. But description/character setting wise, he is also fine. He is respectful of the FL's opinion especially regarding marriage and such, he is also patient and steady.

At first, I felt bad about the FL's treatment towards her father. Because in my mind, I thought his treatment of the FL is okay and it only became bad when she started being rebellious. Also, I thought he deserves a chance bec there's still room for improvements between their relationship. But then, gradually, I came to understand why the FL have such opinion about her father. Indeed, he's scummy.

Another character I like is the sister. Cute, warm, and funny! Also, Xu Lichen hehe. <<less

I just finished reading it and found that it was a really good book.
The relation with her siblings is just great and it is interesting to watch it growing over the chapters.

While romance is present in this novel, the fact that it does not take all the place is a plus in my opinion, we can see different sides of the FL's personality.

The growth of every main character is something that the author really wrote really well about and I hope that we will see that kind of story building in some next books !

A fairly well done story of reincarnation and turning your life around.

The MC realizes she wasted her life rebelling against an unfair world a d when she gets a chance to do things over starts to actually learn what she really values and who cares about her (aside from the inexplicable sudden love from Mr. Perfect that these stories need to keep the blood flowing, they could have done it better and started it towards that direction but suddenly shifted away from a developing romance to... more>> full on common laws).

The world and other characters are barely fleshed out enough to be interesting. Some people that were introduced could have used a bit more presence, but everything flowed fairly well before the rushed ending.

The disappointing part is the rushed ending. Obviously it's better to kill a story before it drags on too long but this story had so much more life left in it.

Overall, a good quick read that starts as a slow burn before launching itself through the story arcs at lightspeed. <<less
