I'll try to keep it short.

I had high hopes for this one because I liked the concept, sadly, I was disappointed. I usually wait to finish a novel to judge it, but I just couldn't finish it.

I thought the bad reviews were about the xenophobia and American stereotypes, but it might not be just that.

Pros:

• • Love the concept. Reincarnation? Yes, please.

• • Both the MC and the ML are very smart, that's great.

• • I liked the high school period, most of the time it was very cute.

• • As always, great translation, I love CG's translations a lot.

• • You can tell how much they actually love each other despite the questionable things. They do dote on each other very much and think about each other all the time.

• • The story seems interesting.

• • I like that after reincarnating both decided to communicate more, that's satisfying.

Cons:

• • Misoginy. All the female characters were either shallow af, or straight up evil.

• • I forgave the emperor's personality a lot, I thought about his actions keeping in mind that he was literally an Emperor, but he had 5 more years than Song Xiao to adapt to the modern world, then they went to HS for 3 years and yet the Emperor still behaved like an as*hole a lot of times. Way to possessive for my tastes and too bossy. I eventually got tired.

• • Mild xenophobia. I assume that it was mild thanks to the translator and bcs I couldn't identify it some times (I'm not from the USA).

• • Secondary characters are not important at all and have no depth.

In the end I dropped this, when the College arc started I just couldn't keep going.

Not horrible, just not my cup of tea.

I have had this novel in my to read list for a long time and always hesitated because of one of the author's earlier works. Some reviews also made me not read it until I read "I have amnesia don't be noisy" and met this novel's main couple there as a side couple and fell in love.

I've always wanted to read a novel where someone from an anicent setting woke up in a modern time and this novel was really satisfying.

If you want a light, fluffy, simple reverse transmigration danmei, this one is for you.

I like that both the MC and the ML acknowledge their shortcomings with regards to their relationship, and I enjoyed the dog food they've thrown to me, the reader. (◍•ᴗ•◍) ❤ Not one of the best out there for its genre in terms of plot and story, for sure, but it does deserve to be recommended to people looking for a light, quick, and fun read.

I personally liked this novel. Yes, it's not the best novel I've ever read and it probably isn't even in my top 10. But it's still a pretty good novel overall. The story is well thought out and it actually follows the plot (after reading some of the more recent transmigration novels, my standard has dropped this low lol). Also here's my thoughts on certain topics that other reviews talked about that might discourage you to read the novel:

The author being racist about America?: I didn't see anything that might be done on purpose to show the author's dislike for Americans. There are characters that are shown as bad people and are American but that's just how characters work. There are obviously going to be some cannon fodders and they are going to be shown as horrible people because their existence is basically going to be use to uplift and highlight the main characters. This happens in literally every novel and it just happens so that some of these cannon fodders are American. Most of these said cannon fodders are Chinese or Asian. That doesn't mean the author is racist to Chinese/Asian people. Also there are American characters that are shown as good such as Julie, American film actress. The author also said “there were also righteous people in America, and very quickly, some of them voiced their disagreement”. As for why Americans are shown as though they do bad things in public compared to Chinese people who scheme behind your back, I think it's because America is portrayed as bold and most Americans are much more open about their affairs compared to Asians who are more reserved. It's also why something as big as protests and rallies are done to show the downfall of American cannon fodders compared to Chinese cannon fodders who just got huge backlash online. After all, in China something like disrespecting women would be looked down upon but not enough to do street protests while in America, equal rights and discrimination is a very open issue that is often talked about so street protests don't seem like a overreaction. Anyway, I just don't see it. It's the cultural differences that made the author treat American and Chinese people differently but I don't think it's done on purpose to put down Americans.

Having two potential stepmothers : I mean, it's a possible situation and it doesn't seem to be a reach. A powerful, rich person who's willing to accept s*xual offers is obviously going to be sought and fought over especially in the entertainment circle. Not to mention MC's dad has a entertainment company which means as long as you grab that leg tight, you'll probably get most of the company resources you want. It'll be weird if someone like that doesn't have a lot of lovers or a lot of people willing to be their lover. MC's dad having two lovers and those two lovers fighting to secure their future using the MC is a somewhat new concept in modern stories but it isn't entirely impossible. This is done a lot in historical novels where the emperor has a lot of concubines and they fight to replace the crown prince's place with someone on their side while trying to gain the approval of said crown prince. It makes sense for the author to use this since this is party related to historical genre. The author is connecting these genres together to show the MC that even though times have changed and there might not be a lot of thing he's familiar with, people's nature are still the same and his previous knowledge of dealing with palace problems will come in handy even in this new era. <<less

The only bad part is that it has ended. I'll miss the overbearing emperor, the empress and the fish family, everyone was so cute, the face slapping was so satisfactory; those mini theaters were some of the best parts.

I loved this so much! Such a lighthearted read, and I love that addresses underlying themes of discrimination. Love it when there's a moral of the story and it's not just entertainment.

In the summary it seems like MC doesn't like the ML and gradually falls in love, while the ML constantly bothers him. But actually MC likes him enough to give up his own life and it took a long time for ML to realize that. After that it was prety much about them overcoming hurdles together and rectifying the mistakes of their last life. The characters were real gems. Even the side characters didn't lose out. The only fault that I would pick out is the occasional brattines from the ML where he unjustly suppressed MC and MC just endeured it. But it was very mild and can be overlooked

I just had to review it. The description almost fooled me and I'm glad that I read the reviews. It was beautiful and refreshing. The ML was caring and possessive (but not toxic) whole the MC was reserved and level headed. There wasn't any plot holes and the novel ended harmoniously. Would surely recommend.

A lot of fun to read. The side characters are as funny as the main. They might have I deserved a bit more attention I feel. Some mention about China Censoreship and how Yu Tang uses rotten women strength to his advantages 🤣

I LOVED this book more than I thought I would. It was entertaining and I never felt bored throughout the read. It was fluffy, and well, the ML was veryyyy devoted XDXD So devoted, it surprised me lol.

The first half of the plot wasn't anything noteworthy, the second half was also just average but it was funny and enjoyable.

Definitely worth a read in my opinion.

frankly it wasn't the best but it also wasn't the worst... a little boring to me though the premise was so interesting. unfortunately it reads like a typical slice of life school life and business/entertainment/family drama novel so there isn't much to say. other reviews have pointed out racism and xenophobia that plagued the novel, I couldn't say because I skipped a lot of it.

very nice story with bits of humor, definitely a good read. The ML is very cunning and the MC is also very smart, which makes for a good pairing.

it's nice to see the development in their relationship, love the character development of the ml. Before, ML has some r*pe vibes, bc MC didnt offer any consent and ML sometimes shuts him up by kissing him, which is a point I do not like. But afterward, ML communicates with MC more and they work together.
