An average, ordinary university student had his first life burned away in a painful death from a fire, causing him to transmigrate into a prince of another universe. However, never did he expected that his younger brother, who he fiercely protected and ultimately brought to the throne, would be the one to betray him. Upon being on the brink of death after suffering three years of torture, he was thrown into a river.
Scarred physically and mentally, he ended up being washed up at an eccentric yet peaceful place he had never heard of before. Having nowhere to go, he began working as a helper in the government office, apathetic about his life.
Will he be able to heal from his traumas and rediscover the beauty of life?
Tldr: A healing story of a transmigrator who slowly recovers from his trauma, finding happiness and fluffy romance in a strange yet peaceful place.
Author’s summary:
An average, normal university student transmigrates into the royal family in another world, where he becomes one of the successors of the throne. Life in the palace is inevitably difficult though, what with all the scheming enemies around him. This man’s only wish in this world is to be able to protect his “younger brother,” and for that, he’ll do anything–whether by hook or by crook–to ensure his brother’s safety and have him succeed the throne.
The man never once expected, though, that the person whom he swears to protect would be the one to stab him in the back. He got locked in a dungeon where he was tortured for three years. And when he was on the brink of death, his body was thrown away into the river.
When he wakes up, he finds himself in an eccentric and peaceful place, where everyone is suspiciously more than what they seem…

- Repetition: The author padded each chapter by hammering certain points over and over to the extent where I was reading one paragraph and skipping over the next three because they didn't offer anything new or interesting. I feel like 5-10 chapters could have easily been trimmed off by a bit of editing.
- Pacing: We set off at a whirlwind sprint for the first half of the first chapter and then slow to a crawl for the next twenty chapters. This story is character driven, so there was always bound to be a lot of navel-gazing, but if its character driven I feel like we should see more of the character's pivotal moments, which brings me to my next point...
- A lot of important scenes that could have really immersed me in the story and its message (recovering from trauma) happened "off-screen" or were just told to the readers (instead of shown). If the author wanted to draw out her story she could have definitely focused on fleshing out those scenes and adding new ones that served as good examples of how MC was allowed to grow through his arc.
- Why is this transmigration? Was having a happy, normal life as a college student before transmigrating really necessary for the MC's journey back to feeling safe and secure? Honestly, I would have preferred this to be a political historical drama-turned-slice-of-life.
- Math don't math: This is a nitpick but the age of MC wriggles around a bit. By the time we're set in the story he's about 16 (?) but then a few years later he's still 16?
Despite these issues this story is still pretty satisfying! Exiled Rebels does great work!Am really happy for the MC and ML. I would have love to see a extra chapter explaining how the king feel after he “kill” his older brother. T^T
The only material that manages to display properly in this story is only the legend of MO and the ML family background...
