Two years after Jiang Qiuyi’s wedding, she realized that she was but a cannon fodder in a novel.

It didn’t matter that she was being thrifty with money, or that she walked on thin ice everyday trying to be the best wife that she could be, Lu Mingcheng, her husband, would still divorce her in a year’s time and left her with nothing.

Jiang Qiuyi, who had now been enlightened set a goal for herself: she is going to spend 10 billion yuan first before she worry about anything else.

High-end custom jewelries? Sure!
Yacht? Yes!
A private plane? Why not!

Everybody thought that Jiang Qiuyi had lost her mind and waited for the day she was swept outside of the Lu’s door.

When their wedding anniversary came around, Lu Mingcheng gave Jiang Qiuyi shares of his company as a gift.

Lu Mingcheng: Go buy what you want.
Jiang Qiuyu: ?
Everybody else: ? ? ?

Lu Mingcheng noticed that his wife had changed.
She went from one who too frugal to even buy a purse for herself in the past to one who spent money mindlessly.

There was no more room for his clothes in the closet and Lu Mingcheng went from surprised to acceptance.

All the way until…
His assistant told him that, “Sir, Mrs. Lu invested in an entertainment company today and signed 10 little fresh meat. They are going to have a celebratory dinner tonight.”

Lu Mingcheng: I am sure there is still a place for me in her heart.

It's good! Really good, 162 chapters to read not too short, not too long... you can enjoy this, it's pretty light and not too much dog blood happening, just dog food...

Mc/female lead

    • Pretty timid and obedient at first and you'd kinda feel distressed for her and want her to go find someone who'll accept her as her
      Spoiler

you'd think she'd stay like that, well no that won't happen cause if you've read the description of the novel above you would know that she'd change because she had dreamt her husband would go and spoil some woman that isn't her, ask for divorce after sometime in their 2nd year anniversary and kick her out of the house and left her with nothing, not even a penny... you would think she'll change and she would but not entirely because the timid her was just the restrained her who was feeling as a burden and embarrassed... wanna know why..? Because of her sc*m of a father and not good b*itchy stepmom who not only made her suffer alot growing up but also raised her as a product to sell to some man to improve their business. It's not that she change, she just let all the things that's keeping her locked up go. She just wanted freedom.

      [collapse]
she got cornered and felt trapped eventually reaching her limit when she got to know what happens to her in the future.
    • MC is something around 24-25 yrs old I think, she majored in language of french and after graduating (22yrs old) was caught by stinky parents to go on blind dates to marry her off and gain some money for their small company
      Spoiler

MC and ML actually met 2 times before the accident happened, MC was a student of someone ML knows (think it's a distant relative or something,
forgot cause of mtl) and that person seems to be fond of MC (not romantically) and often talks to ML about her.... so 3rd time they met was at a hotel, both bumped into each other cause MC ran away from a blind date well nothing happens at that time but they met again after ML left the hotel because he came to pick he's drunk younger brother (cousin) and saw MC beeing harassed by said blind date, he asked the bodyguard to help her, he didn't really care about her but thought about how mc's teacher that was fond of her, he helped her... ML took her to a hotel that's under Lu group and paid a room for her why? Because he has money and that he also took the little cousin to check in cause lil bro was really drunk... after that he left the hotel only to come back again because lil cousin was making a fuss at the hotel, was tired and drunk, don't know what went through his mind, he actually knocked on mc's room and well MC opens the door toor care of him because she was greatful for he's help before and then the accident happened

      [collapse]
so they got married when MC was 22 or 23 and after a year passed she'd be 23-24 which is the current timeline on the novel.
    • Lol mc's childhood friend jian xia is a writer for 18+novels lol she wrote some short stories with MC and ML as the leads and gave it to her as a new years gift and haha MC and ML end up doing what she wrote... jian xia and ml's other friend Xu mo, I ship them!!!! But author didn't wrote about them in the end... sadly
Ml/ husband

  • ML was well your typical cold overbearing president... atleast from the start, he'll change and it'll be sweet
    Spoiler

at the start and at the end you'd really notice how much ML change but at the start he doesn't really love MC, only married her because it was about time he does and it just so happens that that thing with MC happend so that was it... getting married wasn't really because of mc's parents forcing him to take responsibility,
if he wants, he has a lot of ways not to accept this marriage.

    [collapse]
that's why I always wonder how in the original novel he didn't even give a single penny and just straight up throw MC out of the house after divorce...I suspect it was ori FL and ML didn't do or know about it but it wasn't stated in the novel clearly cause mc's memory of the novel started to blur
  • Btw ML is 30 in their 2nd year of marriage so I guess their age gap is around 5-6 years... why am I wven telling you this, you guys know your maths
Original fl

  • Honestly I don't have much to say about her, in fact mother-in-law was way way better her character also got better the more tha story goes on she'd be cute but ori FL was really just your typical crazy over jealous villainess
    Spoiler

ori FL actually has a system called little A
and even little a ended getting fed up with her because as the story goes on, knowing she was the world's female protagonist she became full of herself thinking ML will eventually be hers so why not chase him earlier... the problem was that thought itself... ML has morals, although he doesn't love he's wife doesn't necessarily means he'd cheat on her

    [collapse]
well anyway although this girl was annoying she also helped the couple's feelings for each other grow so thanks I guess... still hate you though.
I really dislike reading reviews that even though they just read a few chapters and hadn't finish reading the book they'd go on and on about how people shouldn't read them because they said so and cause misunderstandings that people end up not wanting to read that said book, this review is mainly about how much I like this novel, enjoy the light read... not really forcing you guys to read just sharing what I thought was fun..

Btw, a little spoiler about their child
Spoiler

it's a boy, he's name is Lu Zhiheng and guys really my mind must be full of transmigration novels that I even suspect this lil baby transmigrated, lol he'd cry whenever he's dad wanted to do something "bad" to his mom and even though he's only a few months old he could understand what people is talking about, he'd even be unhappy and cry when his mom whats him to wear something he doesn't like but it wasn't stated in the novel so I'm not sure... sigh if only theres a part 2 for their generation it would be fun

Tbh, this novel is a total 5/5 in my personal list. My dream life would be becoming a crazy cat lady, but as an asian daughter, especially chinese, I probably doubt that'll happen :/

I'm not really interested in love or having a relationship. I'm most likely as*xual but if I tell my parents, their reaction is probably gonna be something like: "Then stop being it." or some other boomer response.

So my next best option would be a wonderful plastic relationship, and damn if this novel is something I never expected... more>> to need in my life but now absolutely adore! Honestly, for me, relationship goals. You respect me, I do the same, no drama (cheating) because it's troublesome, and most important thing of them all, money. MC has a constant cash flow and it's an amazing thing. A total dream. She's the literal definition of would you rather be sad and rich or poor and happy, my homegirl woke up and said "zero f*cks given I take the money and will buy happiness myself". She's the embodiment of "7 rings" lmao.

ML was a wonderful plastic companion but slowly changed when MC, as I stated before, stop giving f*cks away. I guess he always, somewhat, liked MC. However, the demure personality she showed was really off putting (even to me as a reader, OG MC was more like a servant. Cooking for the mother-in-law's friends just because they asked so, preparing ML's clothes, forcing herself to eat what ML eats, changing the water on the bedside... However, she was also forced to do so by her parents and everyone else that deemed her unworthy of being Mrs. Lu).

I kinda laughed condescendingly at the shallowness of the rich people shown in the story. Mother-in-law had the biggest change, she went form against the relationship to urge grandchildren. MC's friends are a true bunch tho. Besties got besties' back!

Now about ML.

At the beginning, I was feeling quite bitter about his sudden change. I was like: "Now you like her huh? When she stopped caring huh? Men are such shallow creatures." and so on. MC selfishness and fear are understandable to me. She knows how the story is gonna end (even tho it won't) and values the pros and cons of making such decision. The current relationship is bad but will she risk it for the next step? Will she love?

On a side note tho, I love how uncomfortable she is with ML's sudden care. Finally something realistically congruent with real psychology. Before the doki-doki there's the weirded out phase to go through lmao.

Then, one of MC's friends said that it's better to try rather than regretting the possible outcome that could have come. A classic liner, but very effective. She's right. ML shows sincerity and rather than live in the past, better planning for the future while living the present. Rain will still fall, wind will still blow, and earth will still spin. Nothing will stop for you. Let's go. Why not giving it a shot? What's the worst it can happen? Divorce? Well that's bad but you have the money and a clear conscience of "welp at least I did try".

And after that, it's mostly just your classic dog food fluff.

P.S.
Spoiler

Let's not forget about that beautiful sentence MC said that moved my heart.

The captain among them said in a low voice: "Do you understand games?"

"I don't understand." Jiang Qiuyi smiled: "But I like your dreams."

The story is set in the hyper-rich strata of a romance novel. No, it's not a cinderella story that is typical with the shojou genre. It's an introspective look at the throw-away character in those stories.

The main character is both typical and atypical in her role. She is not the enbittered villainess who wishes to destroy all those who will wrong her in the future. At the same time, she is not someone who wishes to hasten the process to escape. It is in this very real and confounding contradition... more>> that the author has us placed. We are observers in her emotional struggle to let go of the expectations she and those around her placed on her position as a rich wife. She takes all of the criticism from the circumstances of her marriage to heart. She tries and improve on herself not only to change the perceptions those around her have on her at the same time being apologetic with the part (or lack of) that she played into marrying into her position.

The knowledge about the "novel" and its setting really emboldened her to let go of these perceptions and re-examine her life. This was the turning point in her growth. Typically for these kinds of novels, the rich emotional lives of the main characters are usually not explored in its depth. That's not the case here.

Our main character is bold but also insecure. She is in love but also living with a constant reminder of that loss. She is confused but also understands the inevitability of her circumstances. She stopped fighting it and just wanted to make the best choices that will allow her to live after the dust settles.

Have you ever heard Does He Love You by Reba McEntire? It's this silent and quiet defeat that she wears. She isn't rebelling against fate but against her personal ending.

She has nothing to lose. That's why she's willing to gamble to get the best deal for her future.

This is where the male lead comes in. He's not as full a character in the earlier chapters as his role, then, is to show the depth of her past devotion and treatment of him. She had always felt like she wronged him, so she treated him like an ancestor. He is a typical cold president but doting husband stock character in a lot of ways but he is human. In the course of the story, you see how human he is. He adores her in the way he knows at the same time, he struggles to understand what made her change. It's not that he wishes to go back but he is confused.

He sees her insecurity, her pride, her weakness and her own strengths. He recognizes how lacking he was when they were married. In his way, he tries to rectify it while also supporting her to grow. This is where it gets me. They are not making compromises but are, in ways, collaboratively trying to make their relationship better. No one person is carrying the relationship.

This novel perfectly discusses how silence in a relationship allows for other things to seep in - doubt, insecurity, the voices of the outside world and the perecived personal failings. It's not only miscommunication and misunderstanding that can ruin a marriage, it's the lack of communication. This silence poisons a marriage faster than any actual noise. There is not immediate cure for this other than trust building and capabilty building. That's where the novel is great at. The relationship of the main lead and the male lead is very well characterized, the pace is good and their growth is both individual and intertwined.

It's not all diamonds and roses, though. The other characters are very much stock characters - from the family, friends, staff and even citizens. There's not much depth to the main baddie nor can you put much stock on any of the side characters. They're not as carefully or richly written as the two mains. From which the story suffers from one dimensional portrayals of relationships (they're either friends and enemies but when they want to make friends out of enemies, it's either done through the thoroughfare of wealth, fame or how great a fcking person she is omg). Apart from the underlying emotional trauma and divorce thought line, the novel is flat and very typical of the villainess/ side character beating the original female lead.

The author has done a wonderful job and sketching out the rich emotional backdrop of the main lead and the development of her relationship with the female lead. I suppose they focused on that over building a world or a set of relationships that serve to enhance the story rather than being narrative drivers for certain scences (especially in the latter half of the story where the villain has been neutralized). <<less

This not a good novel. The FMC is an idiot who only knows how to spend money. She has no redeeming qualities at all. I have read till chapter 43 hoping for some development. But till now it’s all about her spending money. N she just threw money like paper. I mean I know your husband is mega loaded but the way she spends money is disgusting. She acts like the whole world owes her n she is hella rude to her husband. I mean come on, he has done... more>> nothing wrong so far. If I were him I would have already divorced her by now. I feel my day has just been wasted reading this. <<less

As a person that reads brain dead novels, this was so BORING. It’s all shopping and shopping and shopping which sounds okay on the surface but when you read 40 chapters of it back to back it really makes you go crazy.

MC has no personality and is so fking dumb I’ve never felt so bad for a guy. The plot? Non existent. The dialogue? 2-3 words at a time. They say the same thing over and over again.

”where r u?”

... more>> ”shopping”

”oh”

”ok”

That’s it. That’s all. I’m not even joking. Whenever a potential development happens, the MC puts it off with like “I’m too lazy to use my brain so I’ll go take a bath and sleep.” I can’t count how many times it’s happened and frankly I don’t want to.

This is my first review on this site. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because it won’t change to 1. Please don’t waste your time. <<less

I liked the synopsis, but when I read the story... It was boring. I really tried to like this and finish reading it, but I was just too bored of the story early on. First of all, FL has a 180 degree change of attitude and spend her husband's money like water, which is fine. I get it. However, what I really don't understand and what I really don't like is how she treats her husband. She just suddenly wakes up and is super passive aggressive towards him. She's mad... more>> at him for things he hasn't even done...

The only thing she knew from the original story was that husband decided to divorce her and didn't give her a penny. Well, considering how her character didn't want to spend any of his money when they were married (in the original story), I can see the possibility that she didn't accept his money after the divorce since she didn't marry him for that. If she is decided on spending his money, I don't understand why she has to act like he isn't treating her well when he is. Honestly, who the hell would want to read 40+ chapters of the FL spending the ML's money like water and her continuously being passive aggressive towards the ML. It just gets annoying.

There are so many better transmigration novels out there. This one is a pass for me. FL is just boring. Nothing stands out about her. She just has her husband's card to swipe, that's it. <<less

This was an average novel but it nevertheless does not deserve such censure as what others have commented since it may affect the decision of others to read this novel.

Yes, the heroine decided to vent her frustrations in knowing the ending of the novel (that by the way suddenly pops up of her mind) through spending, but I never find it unacceptable because of the situation.

Her husband apparently does not give any recognition to every considerate thing that she did as his wife and in the end divorced her without... more>> giving alimony. So being enlightened she (FL) decided to happily splurge money and enjoy the status that she should've enjoyed with the marriage.

When I get quite bored as she continue to buy and buy in the subsequent chapters, the story then slowly proceeds as she finally spend her husband's money in substantial things in the form of investment (Yey!).

The characters, specially the FL and ML, develops as the story proceeds. The process of this development may be slow however, all of it is significant to make the changes reasonable and not abrupt. The story mainly centers towards their relationship and I find it quite unique as I sometimes gets anoyed to novels that gives a good load of chapters to the secondary characters that serves nothing but fillers to the entirety of the novel.

So please continue to read pass chapter 40ish (where the heroine do nothing but shop and spend) as it was really not that bad as the story progresses :) <<less

I would have rated higher if this was shorter. I don’t fault her for believing the dream and spending money simply because she believed they were headed for divorce (even if the ML has not technically done anything wrong). If in MC’s position, I would have done the exact same thing: make investments and just enjoy my life.

But I agree with the other reviews that it ended up so boring.

Hmm to be honest, the start was a little fun, and the summary was interesting.

but the story itself is too dragging and slow paced. There are a lot of chapters of her just shopping (and I get that its to emphasize her spending money). The first time was funny, but when it kept repeating and in great detail, its boring already.

and the one thing that really irks me was that the FL keeps buying companies (the ML pays for it) but she doesn't have any experience of being a boss??... more>> As a business student it was so cringey. And she said

Spoiler

that she would just hire an assistant who knows what they are doing. I mean that's just a recipe for fraud since you don't understand what's going on.

[collapse]

the romance is slow but it's good. And what I like also is that in other transmigration stories, the ogML just suddenly falls in love with our MC because they changed, but here it piqued his interest, but there is still a possibility of him falling in love with the ogFL. But here, you can see an actual underlying reason:
Spoiler

so the ogFL knows that she's going to end up with the ML because she has a system. And because of this, she comes in too strongly to the ML, too impatient to just let the story flow on its own. And the ML is cold but he knows he's also married. So the behavior disgusts him instead of interesting him.

[collapse]

overall good, but some scenes should be cut <<less

Although the FL was a bit annoying with how she felt entitled to spend her husband’s money like water even when he never actually did anything yet, it was a good story overall. I liked how the MIL grew defensive of FL and told ML to pamper her.

I actually loved the ML, yes, he didn’t give her much attention and all but he never mistreated her. He sent her gifts on her birthday and anniversary and he never cheated or did anything that wronged her. Considering the circumstances they got... more>> married under, you can’t really expect him to love her. FL herself said she was trying to hard to appeal to his family, and so when she stopped doing that he was was able to fall in love with the actual her.

Anyway, the story was a bit dragged out with too much detail in some areas, ut overall it was a pleasant read. <<less

my honest rating would be 3.5 stars.

The plot started out fairly interesting with an OG world MC who realized her life path followed a novel plot-one where she ends up miserable- and divorced by her husband. I wanted to watch her throw away all her burdens and get rid of all her troubles and misery.

to be honest the ML is by no means special, he is the typical cold, rich, domineering CEO with peach blossoms everywhere. I do like how his character grows throughout the series but it's all clearly... more>> based on the fact that he gains feelings for her. As a married couple they shared a physical relationship but that was about it. In the first year of their marriage, he disregarded and ignored what happened to her in regards to how she was treated and spoken of. Not to mention, according to the novel plot he falls in love with another woman while they were still married... honestly that is just a character problem... ofc it never happened-not even close to it in our story cuz the ML was already falling for his wife and apparently is very moral and loyal-which ofc he is.

anywho, personally for me I wish they could have talked more about the past one year, her prev life before marriage, how the nigt they had a one-night-stand happened in his pov etc... but it was a great novel to read and pass the time. some things do get repetetive but ehh <<less
