For years, he was misunderstood by the world and his reputation was notorious. Once reborn, he returned to three hundred years ago. He escapes from the fire. This time, his face was healthy, but his roots have been damaged while saving people, breaking his cultivation and leaving him suffering from sickness. But, Ye Yunlan didn’t care. In his previous life, he wandered for a long time, so in this life he just wanted to live a peaceful life. However, he soon discovered that his former Senior Brother who abolished his golden core, his Sect Master who imprisoned him for a hundred years, his Daoist companion who gave him away to the Demon Venerable, those who hated him and disliked him… all of a sudden, they began to treat him nicely and courteously. Not only did they send elixirs and magic weapons but they also sent themselves. Ye Yunlan: This is unnecessary.
Shen Shu can not forget that scene. In the sky full of fire, that person flew over like a white gull, picked him up and protected the young him within his arms. The flames that hit that man’s back and the blood that dripped down his cheeks fell on the tip of his heart, more scorching than the fire. Later, he bowed his head and called that person “Master”, but when the other party frowned and coughed, he couldn’t help holding the pale hand of that person, and forcefully wiping the blood from his lips. Everyone scolded him for falling into the demonic path and betraying his Sect, but he didn’t listen. He just stared at the man as if looking at the moon. Indulged in beauty, trapped by thirst. The newly promoted No. 1 beauty in the cultivation world at the apex of everyone’s heart, something that can only be longed for.

Anyway: Ah, should have looked at the tags... if you are planning on reading this book, please: Don't disregard the r*pe tag. r*pe and the theme of r*pe is a very prevalent and reoccurring, both in some of the flashbacks of their previous relationship and in their relationship after the ML has some 'mental issues' (as much as I can say in as a non-spoiler). Especially from chapter 114 to where I dropped the novel. I was caught off guard, and after forcing myself to read it in hopes it somehow got better, I couldn't read on. In my honest opinion, I think this also hindered the progression of the characters, ruining the picturesque portrayal of the ML's love for the MC earlier in the novel. Basically:
Originally, what I liked about the ML was the amount of respect he had for the MC (his master), which was shown through his hesitancy of getting together/ confessing to the MC to avoid ruining his reputation. He seemed to be conscientious of what his master wanted. But... then, as his mental state degrades, the MC suddenly doesn't have a choice? It's on the edge for chapters leading up to 114, but really the change of mindset was a slap in the face. Yes, he had been separated from the MC for years, and had been driven insane in the process. But, his subsequent actions of chaining the MC to the bed and constantly raping him under the guise of 'saving his life' (despite the fact that the MC states himself that with the newly obtained Phoenix Inheritance his life was no longer in danger) with literally NO consent from the MC and being repeatedly told no gave the impression that the MC was just there to be a s*x toy. Also, it's very obvious how this treatment is effectively destroying the MC's mental AND (very counterintuitively) physical state as well, as he spirals into apathy and depression. The only argument for the ML at this point is that he is obviously insane to the point he has lost his humanity, but then he regains consciousness... and proceeds to r*pe the MC again with a clear head! Honestly, the MC was r*ped so many times that it made me wonder if the ML was truly the worst option out of his many suitors. And yet, the MC still doesn't blame the ML because he's in love... a conclusion I'm still confused about because he isn't able to feel any sort of romantic or s*xual attraction due to (big spoiler, proceed with caution) being cursed. In my opinion, the attachment he feels towards the ML greatly resembles Stockholm Syndrome, after being locked up in his previous life (and r*ped) by the same guy before he was reborn. It was even clearly stated by the antagonist that the MC has always striven for human connection, many of such relationships being written with sense of ambiguity. So, it made me question; was the MC's 'love' really love, or a dependency derived from confinement and abuse?
I love how each of the chapters slowly unravel the past of our dear MC, and also hints of how ML comes into the picture. Eagerly waiting for the full completion because I can predict it'll be a masterpiece Edit: Read through it all and it IS a masterpiece. Honestly, it took a few re-reads of the first 100+ chapters for me to understand each detail but the ending arc was just spectacular. I am very satisfied.
