When Ning Xiaoyu, an 18th line star, participated in a variety show, she happened to encounter a popular actor taking a nap in the lounge.

The man was leaning against the wide windows, his long legs stretched out casually. The afternoon sun shone through the glass and fell on him unscrupulously. The side of his face was illuminated by the light, so handsome that he did not look like a real person.

Just as Ning Xiaoyu was about to politely retreat, a line of characters suddenly appeared in front of her.

[ Girl, do you want to be popular? Want to enjoy the feeling of being in the limelight? You can have it all as long as you get the favor of the movie king. At this moment, the movie king is resting in the room, you can:

A. Steal a kiss from the movie king

B. Secretly take a photo of the movie king’s handsome sleeping posture

C. Accompany the movie king tenderly for ten minutes ]

After a pause, Ning Xiaoyu realized she had to choose an option, so she reluctantly pick letter C.

The love system was so excited that it rubbed its hands together: Go ahead, girl!

Then it watched Ning Xiaoyu sit down beside the movie king, took out the melon seeds that she carried with her, and began snacking.

The love system that was waiting to eat sugar: Something don’t seem right???

I don't know about others, but I liked it. It's light-hearted, funny and nice. This novel has amnesia, but it affects the story in a good way, and it wasn't an unnecessary amnesia just to drag out the plot. Not to mention FL regained her memories in a few days.

I like MC's and ML's character and hope you guys will like them too 🙂

The premise sounded funny so I MTL-ed the chapters I could find.
50 chapters in (novel is not completed yet) and so far it has been very entertaining... and not a single hint of romance in sight. I don't mind that, actually. With some novels I found myself wondering "when is the romance going to start", but with this one... I don't even think about romance, I just want to continue reading the MC's eccentricities.
So far, the ML didn't give off an ML vibe at all, he felt more like a sidekick/accessory to the MC's life.
I haven't read that many salted fish novels though, so I'm not sure how this one compares against others.

Disclaimer: I noticed that many of the reviews are lower due to the translation issues, so I bumped my star rating from 4 to 5.
Spoiler

Some examples are a chapter originally about lunch being posted before the breakfast scene on the same day, or references to conversations that haven’t happened. I saw another review hinting that the Uncle character didn’t get a resolution in the translation? I didn’t get that far in the translations, but I read the RAWs from beginning to end and these inconsistencies do not exist in the original text. This drop in quality is not the fault of the author or the original work.

This story had me laughing and smiling for most of its chapters, the main character’s antics as she resists the system’s attempts at matchmaking are hilarious. As for the main couple, they have surprisingly similar backstories. They take time to warm up to each other beyond friends and that’s OK. The author doesn’t directly address it, but the burden on the MC has obviously made her depressed. This slower development is actually very suitable for them both.

Her lack of care for anything stems from an unhealthy lack of motivation. This makes the overall development of the novel very healing. The ML and the system ultimately help her gain confidence in living her own life instead of in the shadow of her father. Yes, the amnesia trope comes into play. I don’t think it was a completely unnecessary development for once. The situation was not overdramatized and mostly gave her a chance to reconsider her stance on romance by seeing things from a new perspective (even if it was due to a misunderstanding).

I recommend this novel for anyone who is fan of comedic couples and watching villains reap their own karma. The main couple also isn’t shy at all once the MC overcomes her resistance to love. It’s overall a fun and positive story. The villains are braindead, but it’s nice that they aren’t strong enough to make an impact on the protagonists. It works for the story. The largest hurt may be when
Spoiler

the MC’s father decides to side with his youngest daughter, completely chilling the relationship with his oldest daughter to his regret. He only saw her doing well after he woke from his coma so he sided with the weaker party, but he forgot to consider how much she paid for him to survive to that day. Her enemies are braindead, but so is someone who should have been her closest ally. This at least gave her back the freedom to live independently and courage to fall in love. She completely recognized that she would not make the same decisions as her father in the same scenarios. It was a not the best outcome (GE for all good guys), but it was good writing with plenty of foreshadowing.

[collapse]

Below are some villains and some of their outcomes since I’m not sure what else may have been missed in translation:

Spoiler

• Little sister Ning, a cuckoo, ends up kicked out of the Shen family with her mother. She is later charged with attempted mu*der and sent to prison.

• Mrs. Shen, the career stepmother, violates her agreement to never see her Ex in a public way and gets quickly abandoned by her rich husband. She is demoted to a career mistress and gives up on both her daughters. She attempts to cause some trouble at a major even but fails to even enter the gate.

• Little sister Ning’s friends on the show slowly disband over time and various incidents. One who attempted to imitate MC’s antics left early and repents after MC saves her life. The few who stay by her side to the end leave the show collectively in shame, including 4 later additions (og protag posse).

• Og protagonist still marries her destined lover, but the development had to have been a bit different than the original plot. Who knows if he will be as determined to restrain his playboy nature after finding out she was less sincere than he thought? She also envies MC rather than holding true hostility.

• ML’s Uncle attempts to cause a car accident, but had the bad luck reflected onto him by the system. ML gets away with minor injuries, but his Uncle is disabled. ML reflects that losing completely might be the best outcome for this so-called relative.

• Various small villains who commit crimes get caught by the police.

• MC gets addicted to giving checks in the extras, fending off two potential villains before they can develop.

• ML’s mother never makes an appearance. Neither of the couple invite any of their living parents to their very public wedding. His mother not appearing is bad, but she also doesn’t disturb his life when it gets better. Her villainy is the passive harm of abandonment. She is otherwise neutral. One of the few things we hear about ML’s mother is that she cares about family background when it comes to a relationship. She does NOT come forward to disrupt their relationship as younger sister Ning implied she might. It’s unknown if it’s because she respects her son’s choice or due to the MC being recognized by the Ning family or doesn’t care about her son at all. Regardless, his happiness without this cheap mother is probably the best slap to her face.

In the beginning, the same with the reviewer before me, anticipated the romance between the MC and ML. After reading so many chapters, I forgot the role of ML and their love story. I became invested on MC's antics.

I read salted fish novels, and in my opinion, they couldn't compare the MC of being a salted fish. She is the soul of being a salted fish.

The romance is like a subplot, but what I observe, it seems that ML have catch feelings towards to MC. I mean, he admitted that... more>> he likes being a soft rice lol.

MC's antics is very hard to predict and her dedication of being a salted fish is proven fact. The humor of this novel is very outstanding! <<less

Novel not recommended to read.

Extremely empty novel with an Airheaded female MC with a very useless love system that instantly punishes MC. Nothing stands out, there are no great romantic moments, the fodder are your typical tropes, the world is extremely cardboard, and everyone inexplicably loves MC.

Novel ending is also lackluster.

-300Tril/10 Salted Fish MC trope also applies to the lazy author writing.

The story is very light and not to be taken really seriously but its both cute and funny.

I think this has honestly one of the best set of main leads I've read of despite the lack of actual 'romantic' interactions till like the last 10-30 chapters.

I like how the romance isn't just fully built on physical attraction and how their family background (Parenting, relatives, prev exp) explained why they had certain issues before delving into their relationship ex: FL rejected the thought of love because of how she saw love... more>> influenced her father negatively etc.,

I read the mtl and it was amazing. So if youre interested after reading this review please give it a try! <<less

I quite like this story.

Like the FL, I feel very relaxed when her being a salted fish is in the foreftont of the novel.

So far the faceslapping is good like a salted fish and not cheesey. Its is also very consistent to the character.

I want to contniue to read every salted fish antics she will do in the future chapters.

The premise is decent of a host that refuses to play into the systems games or do much of anything beyond the bare minimum but forcing two people together with a system is disgusting, horrifying and evil and the books not good enough to overlook that. It was a little funny in the beginning but the system just would not stop holding her Father's health hostage for it's sick love games. I kept reading in the hopes she'd stay strong trying to avoid the things but the author

An easy-going novel, I thought I wasn't going to be able to handle the cringy options for too long, but MC handles it super well and you don't get the romance shoved down your throat. It is a slow and understandable process. She is very cute and proudly shows off how lazy she is.

It's a little superficial here and there, and I feel quite annoyed how they used "half-breed" to describe someone (even as an insult), but it's no news that people in China are brainwashed into being xenophobic.

But I... more>> do believe it's worth a read if you want a relaxing novel. <<less

It's a pretty light-hearted story with a salted fish MC who needs to act like a knight in shining armor due to the demand of the system in her head and rescue the damsel-in-distress-like ML several times. There are plenty of hilarious moments to read.

I liked the paced of this story. Like other reviewers mentioned that the romance is slow but it comes in bursts and gradually in the final forty chapters of the story there is a lovely chemistry of the leads. The love system is too funny and adorable. However there is some inconsistencies ... more>>

Ning father forgave the youngest daughter too easily and broke the love that the eldest daughter has for him. The FL worked so hard through seven years for her father but it was such a slap in the face. However the father did gave all his assets to the eldest daughter before reconciling with the youngest daughter so I’m sure if the younger daughter knew this fact she wouldn’t bother with her forgotten father. Another is LJ’s family side ending wasn’t explained clearly. They were out to mu*der him but they weren’t mentioned again. However I read this through MTL so maybe I missed it

Loved it especially the fluff! The tasks were funny and the system was great. She was not too OP and I love how she was not immature. Felt sad on how they did the dad's part l especially when it could have been a happy end and a good chance for character growth... but oh well.

I love a good salted fish story and this seems like it's probably a very good one. As such I really regret the situation this novel is in.

Sadly I had to give it low stars because of both mediocre translation (though I have seen worse, I'd give it a 3 if this was the only issue.) and the more serious issue that it seems like large parts of chapters, possibly entire chapters, are just cut off and missing. Within the first 6 chapters it has detectably happened at least 2... more>> times. It's like they broke these chapters into 3 parts and only posted the first two. <<less

I love MC. She's like a legendary Pokemon 🤣😂

Although the romance is in the last half... I actually enjoyed the first half more because of MCs choices that makes the system and everyone around MC to question themselves and their 3 views. 😂

No idea if it's the translator or not but the story seems very jumpy. She'll say she's going to do something, then she kind of just skips whatever that action is? And there's lots of pacing issues in general.

It was okay. Kind of childish with just different scenes but not a smooth transition. There was no ending to ML's uncle. And villains were just brainless and s*upid. The memory loss part was unnecessary. The variety show seemed too unprofessional with tasks just all over the place. The system was just like elementary school kid.

Comedy was good.

FL finding loopholes for system tasks was good.

And xiangxiang (the little girl from hi dad that played with FL for 3 days) was the good part.

This is a comedic, easy-to-read novel—just right to tickle my funny bone. The characters may seem shallow at first but actually has substance based on what I've seen so far. It's gearing up to be a feel good novel so I don't really get the low rating. Admittedly, there are some parts where you've got to suspend your disbelief or turn off your brain, but it's not meant to be that serious anyway. Sadly, this is still ongoing and only has 57 chapters, but with how it's progressing, it should... more>> be relatively short. <<less

Dropping this here. Not only does it not gave me a good first impression, I'm actually already bored with it. Systems are fine, refusing the system's order is even better, but here, it's totally... How should I put it? Lackluster? The system is not even helpful or funny, in fact, it's even a burden and unreasonable. The author never forgets to emphasize that the FL is a salted fish. But the main thing that made me dropped it is the translation quality. I don't know if I'm not just focused... more>> enough or is it really confusing somehow? I mean, in chapter 5.1, while they're having breakfast, I can't follow what's happening. <<less
