MC was sent to a fantasy world, and when he finally makes it home after 10 years he finds out the Earth turned into a Hunter/Gate world. Now he needs to adjust to a changed world and a changed family. While he still has morals and cares about others, his experiences have made him ruthless. It's a bit of a dark, revenge-focused story, but it isn't as grimdark as other similar works. MC actually has empathy

As for the writing, it's very obvious that this is written by a guy. I... more>> don't know how to explain it, but some novels you can't tell the gender of the author, some are obviously written by a woman, and some are obviously written by a man. This is one of those that has guy-writing. Despite this the female characters are treated relatively well; not every woman falls in love with the MC at first sight, they don't only exist to be damsels in distress, and as the MC's crew comes together there are actually multiple (!) female characters who join him who aren't flat side characters. They don't really get to do much at first, but everyone even male characters are ineffectual because the MC is just too OP so it's not because female characters are being portrayed as strong in name but weak in execution. There are other aspects of the writing that dodge annoying writing issues as well.

There's a romantic subplot but it's not *too* intrusive and they officially put it on the back burner until the big bad is defeated. I find it kind of annoying but it's at the level that I can ignore it, and while not completely non-romance it's worth trying out if you're interested.

4/5. While there are a few things about the plot and writing I dislike it's overall very good. <<less

Super Chad flexes his amazing powers onto the apocalyptic world.

If someones dares cross into his path, he kills. Rules? He doesn't follow them. Want to force him? He kills. Tried to use him for some plan? Kill. Being bad to someone he just met? Kill. Mildly annoyance? Kill. KILL! ! KILL!!!

It's like if Homelander from The Boys was the main character but the Author was trying to make him a real hero and not a complete psychopath. Sure, that goes against the message of how people with super power becomes... more>> tyrants or how corporations will use propaganda, money and political favors to bury their crimes, but who cares?!

Here, Super Chad kills whomever he wants and has ALL the power. No one in the world can match him. Super Chad's Brother is also the CEO of the greatest conglomerate in the country so he sweeps all his misdeeds under the rug. Not even the president can touch him. Look at how ruthless and domineering he is! No, he's not an edgelord and a serial killer, go away weakling! You don't have what it takes to be a hunter!

Spoiler

Killed a guy in the bathroom because he's a d*ck to his employees and one of them is your new friend? No body no problem! Took a criminal teen out of his class and slowly beat him up with your fist in front of his class, and then snapped his neck? The good brother will deliver his parents so he can kill them too! It's ok, they're all bad ppl. A drunk and addict Bad Father appeared in front of him? Kick him from the 20th floor. Super Chad has only one answer to his problems! *loud death metal noises* KIIIIIILLLL!

[collapse]

All hail Super Chad! Or he kills you...

Seriously, I have no idea WTF the Author was thinking with this MC and 'plot' where it's just him flexing around ppl and interdimensional monsters. <<less

The Korean Dungeon novel is essentially a case study in superman. It's been handled well in many different iterations, mainly concerning how the power is used. Hiding it, using it socially, for their own gain, a greater purpose; here we see the MC use it as a bored God passing judgement.

The MC is too powerful, to the point where it's implied everyone on earth couldn't take him at once. So instead of trying to blend in he indiscriminately lashes out against those who violate his vague personal ethics. It's a... more>> weird dynamic where even the MC feels out of place constantly, characters are stunted in their lack of ability to bring conflict/change.

As a story it's not too great, since no one can touch him there isn't a point. No future events or bigger baddie, just him willing change into existence. I'm giving it a 5/5 since I hadn't real this particular take on the genre and enjoyed it. <<less

This is a story.

A story as mentioned above about a person.

That person being.

... more>> Super Chad.

Super Chad doesn't have to listen to rules or anything, because Super Chad is powerful. Super Chad doesn't like Aarons either. The Aaron in this story was only bullying a girl and trying to get sum f*k. But what does Super Chad do? Super Chad blueb*lls Aaron in the most horrific of ways.

From there Super Chad continues to flex his Chaddiness. There isn't anything relating to how Chad got so Chad. Maybe because all that otherworld doping or something. Though the author paints the character as a true Chad.

Super Chad's answer to everything is my way or the death way. Yea, that is it. He kills regardless. He kills cause again he can get away with it. He flexes on everyone else. Laws don't apply to him, no-sir-e-Chad.

On a personal note.

I believe the author that wrote this is likely a psychopath or has those thoughts with the types of people that have been killed in this novel. It is probably something the author wanted to do his/herself but decided to paint it in literature.

This novel doesn't have much going for it, less you want to just see someone OP flexing and putting whoop*ss on people then go ahead and read it, I guess. There is no sense of humor or comedy, it just basically a dark version of someone painted as 'One Punch Man.' Or rather in this case. 'One Flex Chad.'

Also I don't remember what chapter I left off as I decided to come back to give this a review.

Spoiler

It was somewhere around the part he entered portal and fought against that sword boss that he Super Chad killed by repeatedly killing it.

Because who needs regeneration when you can keep flexing and making the enemy not want to fight?

Amazing Read. Has it own unique quirk to it. Quite interestingly this novel lacks many of the usual cliché we find on normal regress type novels.

If you are looking for a protagonist that is overpowered from the beginning, one that does not hide his strength and Identity and is not naive but clever and ruthless (dark nature) with an excellent attitude and does not take sh*t from anyone, and most importantly a good plot with dope fighting scenes and a fresh approach, give this novel a try you will not be dissapointed!!! Also note this is not for the light hearted reader!

Although it isn't the best of the regression novels I've read, it is an enjoyable read. The fact that Lee Hwan (MC) is op from the beginning isn't all that unrealistic. I mean, he struggled for ten years in Valhalla and leveled up to be the strongest without the help of a system (kind of a cheat). Therefore, his strong power from the start is reasonable.

I have no qualms about his personality. He is ruthless but not evil. I'm not sure why some people are bothered by his actions because... more>> that's just how he was designed to be. He has his own set of values that he learned from his mother and from his time in Valhalla. Also, I like how he doesn't hide anything about his past, as in other novels, so it's not at all generic.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is that the novel so far didn't go into detail about how Lee Hwan became so powerful. I believe it would be far better if there were some chapters of his journey in Valhalla. But that's just my opinion.

Looking forward to the upcoming chapters! <<less

Pretty good start so far. The beginning feels a bit rushed, but this feels more of a slice-of-life with action story with a very small romantic plot. The MC is OP, but I like how he actually uses his power and not try to hide it like most stories.

Spoiler

I just don't like the fact that he easily kills people and not think about the consequences and the people around him. But the story is enjoyable enough.

So far I am going to keep this in my reading list and update this later.

Typically I am not a fan of returnee stories since it is about the person returning trying to fit into the societal norms they don't fit into anymore and then being toyed around with despite having the abilities to exceeding the standard.

Life Report doesn't have that issue at all. Here the MC is powerful enough and lived such a life in the other world that he has no qualms using his powers to solve his problems consequences be damned on the conditional his personal rules are violated. I like that... more>> take on things.

It's a breath of fresh air being able to see the usual political machinations that tie down the strong completely fail to work.

As the title would suggest this story is pretty relaxed, reading a bit more like slice of life if that life has some casual monster slaying thrown in every now and then.

So yeah, if you are down for a relaxed OP MC story where he actually uses his strength and isn't a complete ass about it this story is great for that.

Hope you can enjoy as much as I am!! <<less

One of the most enjoyable reads I've had in a while, and almost rivals other novels on all my rec lists. This novel really doesn't sugarcoat what it's about. It truly tells the story of Lee Hwan, a returnee that is also the strongest person to exist. With his return, the typical "gates and rankers" setting snowballs, and we read about how Hwan comes to exist several levels above all these elite hunters.

If you expect anything more than an insanely OP gigachad any% speedrunning rank system end boss because of... more>> his gruesome 10 years on vallhalla (an alternate world) that made him who he is, then you will definitely be disappointed. The storytelling is also not too elaborate, and it's actually quite plain. This works to the benefit of the author, because the story of Lee Hwan doesn't come across as pretentious and wish fulfillment-y as many other OP shounen MCs come off as. Basically, it's a fact that Lee Hwan is the most powerful person to exist through many of the cruel and painful circumstances he has endured, and it's not something to admire or be jealous of. Not a single character in RLR glorifies his strength, it always comes with fear and worry.

About Hwan himself, he is self assured in everything he does. As an anti hero, he's never imposed some set of righteous ideals on his companions like many other MCs, but he's also never once acted like a lone wolf in the name of "saving" his companions. He always looks forward and gives his companions the choice of continuing to stay by his side or leave. Nothing more and nothing less. Honestly, I'm just fanboying over the MC at this point, because he's the perfect anti-hero protagonist. He doesn't hide his past, he's confident, and he always pushes the plot forward.

I also love that many of the characters around him are fairly fleshed out and have their own motivations for being hunters. But many characters still lack depth, especially the female characters (absolutely hate the emilia thing in ch 70-90, who writes a female character like that??)

One annoying point is that he constantly mentions his time on valhalla, and also that either he or someone else will mention how he plays tit for tat in regards to how people treat him (if you're nice, he's nice in return; if you cross him, he'll kill you).

Hoping for more chapters to the completion of this novel, it's been such an enjoyable read that I've caught up within a day. <<less

Surprisingly really good. Don't expect the MC to actually face any real threats to himself, but the MC is charismatic, intelligent and ruthless (not to the point where he's a savage or anything, the perfect amount of ruthless imo), and the characters are fairly well written so it's a good read.

I just noticed this seems to be dropped. Hopefully someone will pick it up because the story gets better in the later chapters.

Omg what's with Ee-Na's screen time being stretched to a lifetime? I'm sure she's just a weak passerby that will never be mentioned again so stop pretending she'll be important in the story by giving her more interactions with the MC.

Edit: Nvm she seems to become important. I'll stop reading now. The problem is the MC is too OP so I find it difficult to put importance to other characters when I know they add nothing to the story. I'm sure the MC will just do everything.

I kinda have mixed feelings with this novel...

I really hate the mc's attitude of killing everyone but the their brotherly bond made me stay.

I also hate how he always compares everything to Valhalla, like "If this was Valhalla or When I was at Valhalla" but I love the way the author writes.

Almost 100 chapters in, and the word that may best describe this novel is: anticlimactic.

Lee Hwan (our MC) is overpowered. Yeah, I can almost feel you shaking your head. Thinking: "MC is supposed to be OP!"

But Hwan is too over the top. There is nothing that can come close to endanger him. Ever. He will just pull a new skill out of his a** and pummel whomever goes against him...

Anyway, let's get to the good, the bad and the ugly:

The Good

  • MC is decisive. That is for sure. Not all of his decisions are exactly bright, but he won't waste a chapter mulling over his options.
  • The supporting cast is 'good enough'. They're not fully fleshed out characters with well thought-out backgrounds and motivations. But they're not totally flat also.
  • No harem! Yes, this is a positive point... There are three women in MC's marry band of misfits. And he only laid his hands on one.
The Bad:

  • Romance is bare bones to say the least. MC's relationship started somewhat abruptly. But it is slowly developing as the story progresses.
  • MC kills people and there is absolutely no repercussions. There is always some convoluted explanation on how everything is swept under the rug.
The Ugly:

  • MC's morals are twisted to say the least. Nonexistent if we're being completely honest. And his background history is too vague to fully justify this.
    Spoiler

He killed his own father in one chapter. Again, it doesn't mean you can't write this scene. But gimme something more than: "He abandoned mom", or "He almost beat me to death when I was five". There isn't enough emotional weight on the writing...
