I appreciated the MC’s personality and violence, but the plot is reallyyy... unsatisfying. Decent read if you’re reallyy bored and just want to pass the time. Though reading this may make you feel even more bored. Like damn, MC really doesn’t have any solid goals he’s determined to achieve. He kind of just goes with the flow and takes things on as they come. It doesn’t help that he’s super op. I like his relationship with his brother, that was new for this genre and done well. But the romance?... more>> What the helly. So abrupt and out of place tbh. He left bestgirl (A) behind in the other world and hooked up w lady (C) on earth with no build up. They might even have switched FLs after the beginning of the story bcs there was a lot of build up with lady (B) only for her to fade away later on???

An attempt was made at world-building... at attempt.

As for my favourite part of the novel, it was the scenes involving the duel with King Arthur. That was great. And beating up Merlin. After that, nothing caught my interest. <<less

Super Chad flexes his amazing powers onto the apocalyptic world.

If someones dares cross into his path, he kills. Rules? He doesn't follow them. Want to force him? He kills. Tried to use him for some plan? Kill. Being bad to someone he just met? Kill. Mildly annoyance? Kill. KILL! ! KILL!!!

It's like if Homelander from The Boys was the main character but the Author was trying to make him a real hero and not a complete psychopath. Sure, that goes against the message of how people with super power becomes... more>> tyrants or how corporations will use propaganda, money and political favors to bury their crimes, but who cares?!

Here, Super Chad kills whomever he wants and has ALL the power. No one in the world can match him. Super Chad's Brother is also the CEO of the greatest conglomerate in the country so he sweeps all his misdeeds under the rug. Not even the president can touch him. Look at how ruthless and domineering he is! No, he's not an edgelord and a serial killer, go away weakling! You don't have what it takes to be a hunter!

Spoiler

Killed a guy in the bathroom because he's a d*ck to his employees and one of them is your new friend? No body no problem! Took a criminal teen out of his class and slowly beat him up with your fist in front of his class, and then snapped his neck? The good brother will deliver his parents so he can kill them too! It's ok, they're all bad ppl. A drunk and addict Bad Father appeared in front of him? Kick him from the 20th floor. Super Chad has only one answer to his problems! *loud death metal noises* KIIIIIILLLL!

[collapse]

All hail Super Chad! Or he kills you...

Seriously, I have no idea WTF the Author was thinking with this MC and 'plot' where it's just him flexing around ppl and interdimensional monsters. <<less

This is a story.

A story as mentioned above about a person.

That person being.

... more>> Super Chad.

Super Chad doesn't have to listen to rules or anything, because Super Chad is powerful. Super Chad doesn't like Aarons either. The Aaron in this story was only bullying a girl and trying to get sum f*k. But what does Super Chad do? Super Chad blueb*lls Aaron in the most horrific of ways.

From there Super Chad continues to flex his Chaddiness. There isn't anything relating to how Chad got so Chad. Maybe because all that otherworld doping or something. Though the author paints the character as a true Chad.

Super Chad's answer to everything is my way or the death way. Yea, that is it. He kills regardless. He kills cause again he can get away with it. He flexes on everyone else. Laws don't apply to him, no-sir-e-Chad.

On a personal note.

I believe the author that wrote this is likely a psychopath or has those thoughts with the types of people that have been killed in this novel. It is probably something the author wanted to do his/herself but decided to paint it in literature.

This novel doesn't have much going for it, less you want to just see someone OP flexing and putting whoop*ss on people then go ahead and read it, I guess. There is no sense of humor or comedy, it just basically a dark version of someone painted as 'One Punch Man.' Or rather in this case. 'One Flex Chad.'

Also I don't remember what chapter I left off as I decided to come back to give this a review.

Spoiler

It was somewhere around the part he entered portal and fought against that sword boss that he Super Chad killed by repeatedly killing it.

Because who needs regeneration when you can keep flexing and making the enemy not want to fight?

The Korean Dungeon novel is essentially a case study in superman. It's been handled well in many different iterations, mainly concerning how the power is used. Hiding it, using it socially, for their own gain, a greater purpose; here we see the MC use it as a bored God passing judgement.

The MC is too powerful, to the point where it's implied everyone on earth couldn't take him at once. So instead of trying to blend in he indiscriminately lashes out against those who violate his vague personal ethics. It's a... more>> weird dynamic where even the MC feels out of place constantly, characters are stunted in their lack of ability to bring conflict/change.

As a story it's not too great, since no one can touch him there isn't a point. No future events or bigger baddie, just him willing change into existence. I'm giving it a 5/5 since I hadn't real this particular take on the genre and enjoyed it. <<less

Amazing Read. Has it own unique quirk to it. Quite interestingly this novel lacks many of the usual cliché we find on normal regress type novels.

If you are looking for a protagonist that is overpowered from the beginning, one that does not hide his strength and Identity and is not naive but clever and ruthless (dark nature) with an excellent attitude and does not take sh*t from anyone, and most importantly a good plot with dope fighting scenes and a fresh approach, give this novel a try you will not be dissapointed!!! Also note this is not for the light hearted reader!

Although it isn't the best of the regression novels I've read, it is an enjoyable read. The fact that Lee Hwan (MC) is op from the beginning isn't all that unrealistic. I mean, he struggled for ten years in Valhalla and leveled up to be the strongest without the help of a system (kind of a cheat). Therefore, his strong power from the start is reasonable.

I have no qualms about his personality. He is ruthless but not evil. I'm not sure why some people are bothered by his actions because... more>> that's just how he was designed to be. He has his own set of values that he learned from his mother and from his time in Valhalla. Also, I like how he doesn't hide anything about his past, as in other novels, so it's not at all generic.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is that the novel so far didn't go into detail about how Lee Hwan became so powerful. I believe it would be far better if there were some chapters of his journey in Valhalla. But that's just my opinion.

Looking forward to the upcoming chapters! <<less

Pretty good start so far. The beginning feels a bit rushed, but this feels more of a slice-of-life with action story with a very small romantic plot. The MC is OP, but I like how he actually uses his power and not try to hide it like most stories.

Spoiler

I just don't like the fact that he easily kills people and not think about the consequences and the people around him. But the story is enjoyable enough.

Typically I am not a fan of returnee stories since it is about the person returning trying to fit into the societal norms they don't fit into anymore and then being toyed around with despite having the abilities to exceeding the standard.

Life Report doesn't have that issue at all. Here the MC is powerful enough and lived such a life in the other world that he has no qualms using his powers to solve his problems consequences be damned on the conditional his personal rules are violated. I like that... more>> take on things.

It's a breath of fresh air being able to see the usual political machinations that tie down the strong completely fail to work.

As the title would suggest this story is pretty relaxed, reading a bit more like slice of life if that life has some casual monster slaying thrown in every now and then.

So yeah, if you are down for a relaxed OP MC story where he actually uses his strength and isn't a complete ass about it this story is great for that.

Hope you can enjoy as much as I am!! <<less

It's quite a fun read at first but it's quite tiring and annoying how the MC keeps acting self important, trying too hard to be deep and shit. I don't really dislike him, because I kinda like MC with a somewhat badguy vibe but author creates pov of side characters praising the MC, saying how cool he is, that MC is such a respectable guy and how f*cking great of a guy MC is.. It's seriously cringe. It's a bit overdone with MC doing his Cool-Guy act.

—Plot is nothing special... more>> and it's just bullsh*t and it mostly centered in showing how cool and badass the MC is.
—Romance isn't really great. I feel like MC just get caught in a relationship with someone and MC decided to take it seriously for no reason. The girl doesn't have any special traits on her, heck, I don't even know how the heroine looks like! Lol. They don't suit each other.
—Side characters are alright. When reading a story I always hated it when villains do villainous things as if it's their job to oppose the MC, but here at least they possess reason why they do some things and they don't target the MC specifically and instead they just end up indirectly crossing him so MC had to get involve with them. Only thing I don't like in some characters is how some of MC's allies have too much plot armors, they suddenly get unreasonable powerups in the middle of the battles out of the blue. I call that bullshit.

Overall, it's not too bad. Got stale midway but if you want to read a Badass MC with questionable Moral compass but still somewhat of a Nice Chad then it's not bad to pass time following MC steamrolling the world. <<less

Surprisingly really good. Don't expect the MC to actually face any real threats to himself, but the MC is charismatic, intelligent and ruthless (not to the point where he's a savage or anything, the perfect amount of ruthless imo), and the characters are fairly well written so it's a good read.

I just noticed this seems to be dropped. Hopefully someone will pick it up because the story gets better in the later chapters.

I’m compelled to rate this novel with a single star due to the protagonist’s questionable actions and morality. The main character’s decision to incapacitate a woman from the hunter association and transport her to his residence, only to leave her unconscious on his bed, is deeply troubling. Their acquaintance was brief, spanning merely a day or two, which hardly justifies such a severe invasion of privacy.

Furthermore, the protagonist’s choice to end the life of her manager, who, despite his unpleasant demeanor towards his team, had not committed any act warranting... more>> such a fate, is equally disturbing. The manager’s worst offense was causing employees to resign, yet the main character deemed this sufficient for a death sentence.

The narrative is further marred by the main character’s intrusive fixation on a woman’s personal struggles, coupled with a dangerous belief that his power grants him the right to take lives at will. This portrayal of the protagonist significantly detracted from my enjoyment of the story.

Additionally, the translation quality did not meet expectations, falling into the realm of mediocrity. Potential readers should be wary of the novel’s high ratings, as they may be influenced by the translator’s requests for favorable reviews, casting doubt on their authenticity. <<less

Omg what's with Ee-Na's screen time being stretched to a lifetime? I'm sure she's just a weak passerby that will never be mentioned again so stop pretending she'll be important in the story by giving her more interactions with the MC.

Edit: Nvm she seems to become important. I'll stop reading now. The problem is the MC is too OP so I find it difficult to put importance to other characters when I know they add nothing to the story. I'm sure the MC will just do everything.

One of the most enjoyable reads I've had in a while, and almost rivals other novels on all my rec lists. This novel really doesn't sugarcoat what it's about. It truly tells the story of Lee Hwan, a returnee that is also the strongest person to exist. With his return, the typical "gates and rankers" setting snowballs, and we read about how Hwan comes to exist several levels above all these elite hunters.

If you expect anything more than an insanely OP gigachad any% speedrunning rank system end boss because of... more>> his gruesome 10 years on vallhalla (an alternate world) that made him who he is, then you will definitely be disappointed. The storytelling is also not too elaborate, and it's actually quite plain. This works to the benefit of the author, because the story of Lee Hwan doesn't come across as pretentious and wish fulfillment-y as many other OP shounen MCs come off as. Basically, it's a fact that Lee Hwan is the most powerful person to exist through many of the cruel and painful circumstances he has endured, and it's not something to admire or be jealous of. Not a single character in RLR glorifies his strength, it always comes with fear and worry.

About Hwan himself, he is self assured in everything he does. As an anti hero, he's never imposed some set of righteous ideals on his companions like many other MCs, but he's also never once acted like a lone wolf in the name of "saving" his companions. He always looks forward and gives his companions the choice of continuing to stay by his side or leave. Nothing more and nothing less. Honestly, I'm just fanboying over the MC at this point, because he's the perfect anti-hero protagonist. He doesn't hide his past, he's confident, and he always pushes the plot forward.

I also love that many of the characters around him are fairly fleshed out and have their own motivations for being hunters. But many characters still lack depth, especially the female characters (absolutely hate the emilia thing in ch 70-90, who writes a female character like that??)

One annoying point is that he constantly mentions his time on valhalla, and also that either he or someone else will mention how he plays tit for tat in regards to how people treat him (if you're nice, he's nice in return; if you cross him, he'll kill you).

Hoping for more chapters to the completion of this novel, it's been such an enjoyable read that I've caught up within a day. <<less

From what I have read, this is a great novel. I don’t know why people are complaining about him killing as the genre literally has a “evil protagonist” tag lol.

Overall, the personality of the MC is do whatever he wants to do. His return to Earth and being the most powerful of everyone there, he has the justification to act like it, however, he isn’t unreasonable as he treats those based on how he is treated.

MC was sent to a fantasy world, and when he finally makes it home after 10 years he finds out the Earth turned into a Hunter/Gate world. Now he needs to adjust to a changed world and a changed family. While he still has morals and cares about others, his experiences have made him ruthless. It's a bit of a dark, revenge-focused story, but it isn't as grimdark as other similar works. MC actually has empathy

As for the writing, it's very obvious that this is written by a guy. I... more>> don't know how to explain it, but some novels you can't tell the gender of the author, some are obviously written by a woman, and some are obviously written by a man. This is one of those that has guy-writing. Despite this the female characters are treated relatively well; not every woman falls in love with the MC at first sight, they don't only exist to be damsels in distress, and as the MC's crew comes together there are actually multiple (!) female characters who join him who aren't flat side characters. They don't really get to do much at first, but everyone even male characters are ineffectual because the MC is just too OP so it's not because female characters are being portrayed as strong in name but weak in execution. There are other aspects of the writing that dodge annoying writing issues as well.

There's a romantic subplot but it's not *too* intrusive and they officially put it on the back burner until the big bad is defeated. I find it kind of annoying but it's at the level that I can ignore it, and while not completely non-romance it's worth trying out if you're interested.

4/5. While there are a few things about the plot and writing I dislike it's overall very good. <<less

Almost 100 chapters in, and the word that may best describe this novel is: anticlimactic.

Lee Hwan (our MC) is overpowered. Yeah, I can almost feel you shaking your head. Thinking: "MC is supposed to be OP!"

But Hwan is too over the top. There is nothing that can come close to endanger him. Ever. He will just pull a new skill out of his a** and pummel whomever goes against him...

Anyway, let's get to the good, the bad and the ugly:

The Good

  • MC is decisive. That is for sure. Not all of his decisions are exactly bright, but he won't waste a chapter mulling over his options.
  • The supporting cast is 'good enough'. They're not fully fleshed out characters with well thought-out backgrounds and motivations. But they're not totally flat also.
  • No harem! Yes, this is a positive point... There are three women in MC's marry band of misfits. And he only laid his hands on one.
The Bad:

  • Romance is bare bones to say the least. MC's relationship started somewhat abruptly. But it is slowly developing as the story progresses.
  • MC kills people and there is absolutely no repercussions. There is always some convoluted explanation on how everything is swept under the rug.
The Ugly:

  • MC's morals are twisted to say the least. Nonexistent if we're being completely honest. And his background history is too vague to fully justify this.
    Spoiler

He killed his own father in one chapter. Again, it doesn't mean you can't write this scene. But gimme something more than: "He abandoned mom", or "He almost beat me to death when I was five". There isn't enough emotional weight on the writing...

I like wish fulfillment type stories with violent overpowered main characters, so I think it's pretty fun so far.

But I agree with the reviews that say it overdoes trying to make the MC seem super cool and "respectably" violent using other characters' perspectives. Especially because we as readers can see for ourselves that he's excessive. One reason it feels like that is that I also agree that there's not enough emotional appeal for/payoff from the various mu*ders. A visual medium can get away with that lack more with interesting visuals,... more>> but this is a novel.

The people the MC befriends are often more offensive than the MC's hair trigger mu*ders. Multiple times hunters do disgusting things and, instead of killing them, the MC says they're "good guys."

Spoiler

• One of the MC's team is an 18 year old girl whose uncle financially and physically ab*sed her. She had already signed a contract with the MC and turned down other guilds in person. A guild contacts the uncle and signs a contract on behalf of the girl, apparently planning to give the money to the uncle instead of her. They're well aware that the niece already turned them down and almost certainly aware that her uncle will ab*se her to get her agreement. The MC later meets them and says they're "good guys" and he likes them. To me, enabling or rewarding child ab*sers is a hard red line. Anyone who does that is absolutely not "good" even as a bro. These are people the MC should be killing by his own rules: because they crossed one of his lines and messed with "his person."

• A very dangerous gate appears in London which will burst in 3 days and probably wipe most of the UK off the map. A female hunter contacts various hunters worldwide to request help. The strongest hunter in the world tells her, in front of government officials, that he'll only help if she has s*x with him. She says no and he says to contact him when she realizes she has no other options, but that since she rejected him once, he "won't be gentle." He continues to sexually harass her every time he appears. The MC's brother says that he's a trustworthy "good guy." He even asks this near-rapist to bodyguard the woman immediately after this while minimizing and excusing his behavior as "flirting." When the MC meets him, he agrees he's a "good guy" and he likes him. This is a s*umbag I'd personality like to see the MC kill, not befriend.

While it might seem at the beginning like the MC mu*ders a team leader out of sympathy/affection for a woman he meets, that's incorrect and clarified later. He does it because the guy "used" the MC to harass her, not because he harassed her. He doesn't kill people because they're scum, but instead because they cross one of his arbitrary lines. But he's not entirely consistent about these lines.

[collapse]

It feels like the author of this didn't quite commit to the MC being an anti-hero protagonist or an evil protagonist, but instead tried to walk some line between the two that doesn't completely work for me.

Speaking of which, it's not that I'm particularly squeamish. I enjoy the thrill of a fictional character being able to do anything to anyone and get away with it. There's just something off about this that fails to gratify me.

BTW, repeat after me. Having "a setting" is not the same as having "world-building." A setting is a basic, world-building is advanced. You probably mean "the setting" not "the world-building." <<less

Pretty much just a super OP guy being emo and abandoning best girl to go to earth, and then proceeding to be super OP in a relatively dark world. It's kinda boring because of his strength though... that, and I don't care about any of the side characters.

MC is overall just an edgy but decent guy aside from abandoning best girl. The only person he kills that isn't 100% deserved imo is the first guy, and even then it's debatable. The whole story is basically just saying how cool and... more>> edgy he is though, which gets boring imo.

MC's story before this starts seems interesting, or even his brother's instead. As it is, it's just a generic Korean "omg protag is so cool" type novel. Decent to kill a bit of time until you get bored of it. <<less

I kinda have mixed feelings with this novel...

I really hate the mc's attitude of killing everyone but the their brotherly bond made me stay.

I also hate how he always compares everything to Valhalla, like "If this was Valhalla or When I was at Valhalla" but I love the way the author writes.

Spoiler

Nothing really happened until the 2 way gates started showing up but even then he never really fought with full power until the end.

The romance was not bad but we didn't really get much info into it, just a few lines every few chapters. I honestly thought it would go harem but it didn't.

The fights when not the main character were good and at the end the main characters fights are good.

overall a good novel if the start of the novel (first 100-130 chapters) was faster and cut down I think it would have been a 5 star. <<less
