I read this a while back so my review may seem superficial to you, BUT I SWEAR I FINISHED IT 😭

I think because verything was smooth sailing that MCs characters didn't get a chance to devalop, be it in good or bad way; and that made MCs character shallow. Maybe it's my good old habit of labeling people as shallow if they can't crack good jokes. Idc.

I love this novel. So much so that I wanted to buy a physical copy, only to have my dreams crushed by domestic shipping only. Anyway:

MC and ML's banter is excellent, perfect, chef's kiss. MC may not be as intelligent as ML, but he's witty and quick on his feet. They truly complement each other perfectly.

This book is the definition of tell and not show. I felt like reading a list instead of a story. Chapter 10 and the author still couldn't make me feel anything about the characters. There is not one emotion coming out of their conversations.

The prison psych test was absolutely goofy. This threw me off:

What? Not one will admit that he's a p-word in that environment... You are in prison???

Good book, very well written, was not bored even a little. Loved it to the very end, especially the ending. Did not feel too short or too long, just perfect.

An unexpectedly delightful read!

With the title and the MC being a voyeur, it seemed like either a heavy or dark novel. It isn’t. It’s a cleverly crafted story with a smart couple. The dialogue and interactions between the MC and ML are absolutely hilarious! The MC Jiang Chijing works as a prison librarian, and the ML is a prisoner with a genius-level IQ. The chemistry between the two is amazing - I love how they are equals in their relationship and how they both have their kinks.

The only darker parts... more>> of this story are related to the fact that the setting is in a prison and the inevitable things that happen in a prison (e.g. Power struggle amongst inmates).

This was a short and sweet read! There's great romantic/s*xual tension between the two and it was hilarious seeing their little cat and mouse dynamic. There aren't that many plot twists or angst of any sort, so I'd recommend this for people who prefer fluff over angst. I personally would give this a 7/10 overall because the story wasn't my type, but don't get me wrong, it's translated so well and could easily be a higher rating for others who like this setting!

As alot of reviewers said, they had put off reading this novel at 1st, then after some times start reading this gem. Lol me too! Maybe it’s the background setting or the start of MC special hobby. This is the biggest hidden gem! The writing style is really my taste. The characters MC and ML (hot) are both (power couple) so great!

So recommended because of, the funny mutual conversations, many flirting, the wishful thinking by Jiang Chijing (and Zheng Mingyi- after), and lots of s*xual tension.

Quite unique plot though I don't think that's what prison life is like usually. Interesting characters and the pairs in this novel are all super cute. It's my first time reading something about voyeurism and fetish but I think that it was we written.

The 'smut' part was literally described as oatmeal and milk and I almost died at that part cause it was too hilarious. Got a great laugh while reading this. Not too long and not too short. Should be able to finish it in a day.

Oh my oh my. I absolutely adore this novel. It was short and sweet. It contained the perfect amount of drama and fluff. I absolutely can not get enough of the two characters.

The MC really was s*upidly cute even though his voyeurism could be a bit problematic, I like that they didn’t take it too far and that it couldn’t exactly be called stalking. I also loved that they were both observing each other.

For example, the watch. I love that it was brought up more than once to keep it fresh in your mind and then slowly peter out before coming back to remind you of it. Being able to seamlessly connect everything like that makes it more than just random plot devices meant to push the plot.

Really, the ending bonuses were the icing on top. It was a perfect way to give the happenings of the other characters as well as close it out.

Impeccable novel! True to the description, it is "Fundamentally sweet, no angst." The main characters are dynamic and you see the gradual development of MC/ML relationship. The translation is top notch with an interesting plotline. Do give it a read, you will not regret this 5/5 novel!
