The extra chapters with brothers was quite unnecessary imo.

- The ML's ethical dilemma. The MC obviously went off the deep-end for revenge, and it was interesting to see the ML who had pretty okay ethics to begin with, challenge his own bottom line again and again because of falling in love
The stuff I didn't enjoy is that:Some of the villains were extremely predictable (the mistress and the bastard son) they are like carbon copies of every other "villain" mistress/bastard son presented in nearly every story.
The story also got a bit convoluted? There's a ton of actors, but in the end it felt like the author was just adding lots of unnecessary drama for no reason other than trying to get the ML to accept the MC through basically near-death experiences or suspension bridge effect.
The author tries too hard to whitewash the MC. Yes he was mentally abused by his family's purposeful neglect growing up, and maybe he was framed by his family to go to prison, but the author tried super hard to make the MC appear more righteous, like it was just the MC carrying out karma. The ML, who represents someone fairly "normal" I guess, is constantly shown rationalizing an outsider's perspective on the MC's revenge as "I didn't suffer through that, so I can't cast judgement on his revenge plot" as if trying to convince the reader that the MC's actions are sympathetic. In turn, that try-hard convincing has an opposite effect instead.
The author should have just presented MC as the villain from the beginning, and the story would have benefited greatly from that unapologetic frankness.
Finally, gotta say, I really like the 2nd ML and tried to keep my mind open but I really wish the MC had just gone with the 2nd ML instead. But on the other hand, the delicious ethical dilemma that the ML went through and his conflicting loyalties to his mom/his best friend/his family over the MC was pretty great....
STILL. I think if the author was more daring, they could have done both. An unapologetic villain MC who gets what he wants and then breaks up with the ML to run off into the sunset with the 2nd ML -- that would have made this story a true hit haha
