I forget things I want to tell about a novel by the time I'm done reading it so this time I made a list.

There is a 5 year jump gap in the very beginning of the novel. So by the time the novel 'actually' starts the MC is almost 23 years old. And the ML is about 30.

The MC doesnt use the ML as some reviews said. There was never an instance where MC did any moves through ML or with the help of ML. The MC starts dating ML... more>> cos of his insomnia but its not like the ML didnt know that the MC was with him for comfort rather than love. The ML does get to know the true MC by around chapter 80.

The MC's revenge for the whole family felt really normal to me. I never felt like it was excessive as some reviews said.

Shen Ji and Shen cheng (the brothers)

The whole rivalry between shen cheng and shen ji had started from MC's idea. But he never went in there and deliberately manipulated and told lies to each of them. The only reason they fell out was because of their own psychological issues. And I dont blame MC for getting revenge on Shen Ji in the end either. Whether some of these reviewers want to believe it or not its a fact said by the author multiple times that shen ji and shen cheng both bullied MC as he grew up. They looked away when their father was neglecting MC just because Shen Ji hates MC's mother. From the beginning of the novel Shen Ji has been just like Shen Dohan, worried that MC would join the company and 'steal' his rights. MC just made it so that Shen Ji would be just like him (having shares but not able to participate in the company). As for Shen Cheng's drug addiction, it wasnt MC who did it. By the end of the novel the three brothers seem to be trying to move on without the presence of their toxic father, which I appreciate as most of this happened due to the father.

    1. Shen Rong and Tian Wenyao's photos leaking in the beginning was well deserved
    1. Shen Rong tries to drug MC's friend but by mistakly drugs MC. So ML blocks his movie from getting released and he loses a lot of money.
    1. Shen Rong and Tian wenyao's video getting leaked again was done by Tian wenyao's fiance. Even though MC was the one to give the video to the fiance it is true they were cheating.
    1. Shen rong getting into a car accident and becoming paralysed in the end both had nothing to do with the MC.

Ahhhhh I was never expecting this story to be soo good, I was totally hooked by it.

It was a story with different genre that I have been reading since few days ago, I have been reading fluff stories so this was new to me after some time, ohh but I liked the change.

I have already read revenge genre for quite a while but idk I never felt this satisfied.

It's indeed an amazing story, u might thinking that I am exaggerating but u can read most pf the comments,... more>> it's completely worth ur time.

The in*est tag didn't disturb me much 'cause I already read quite a bit of novels of the same genre, so nope I didn't hate it.

I liked the MC, he never forgot his original goal and didn't stop until he achieved it even though he had to leave ml, there was no hesitation, he was quite ruthless in revenge and even more ruthless to himself.

About ML I really not liked him in the beginning and was hoping ML to be someone just not him, cause he was not to my appetite, due to the earlier chapters of his interactions with MC's brother. But in later chapters after he confessed he really changed, his thoughtfulness, his love, his care, him never asking MC to love him back, his restrainment everything he did for MC was indeed awesome and I came to love him.

There love came slowly not like love at first sight but more slowly but it felt just right.

While reading the story I felt quite unexpected, I really do not know who to actually hate. MC's older brother (shen ji) his behavior was expected he just wanted his family as his brother mother and father and no one else but I didn't liked his indifference to MC.

Shen cheng MC's second brother was also innocent he was just a spoiled brat but didn't harmed anyone he just acted as a brat, I am not actually a great fan of such characters.

MC was inocent he just wanted his family's love and care their recognition that he never got and extreme indifference of the family for him, and his father's hate, disgust.

Shen Rong for me, I really felt he was the most innocent among others as he was just a marionette for his mother. He was actually quite capable and hardworking.

Yes MC's father was to blame for everything cause of his indifference, his disgust of MC and his so called love he was actually scum.

Wang changlin was completely unexpected one for me, I just thought he would be a simple passerby.

The in*est, chapters about MC's brother was quite unexpected gor me it was not actually necessary and it was in extras so I completely skipped it, it's not that I felt uncomfortable or disguted it was just there was no need for this.

So overall it was a good read and I would highly recommend it to everyone, u should give it a try before making ur opinions.

This was a horrific mess, and I loved every minute of it.

It's rare to have a novel where, at the end, I feel sorry for absolutely everyone, but this absolute classical Greek tragedy of an emotional behemoth certainly managed it! Even unforgivable villains, they still experienced things that touched my moral bottom line. (The manipulative elder abuse via the hired woman.) The most awful, beautiful, scintillatingly impossible-to-look-away from aspect of it is that everyone walked into their own personal halls. Everyone made the decisions that they did, everyone fell to... more>> their own weaknesses and flaws, everyone was miserable together, and everyone was human.

There also was great smut.

The top novels I would probably recommend for readers who enjoyed the exhausting, and heartbreaking, dog-blood drama here, would be: But You're In Love With An Idiot, followed by The Ugly Empress, Black-Bellied Vs Black-Bellied, and Dear Mr Lu.

I'm known for saying firmly to my friends that "neglect is a form of abuse", so naturally the resultant child abuse that formed the backbone of MC's grudge was especially understandable to me.

I do wish we'd had a different CP ultimately, I was really rooting for Feng Luowei, but I think even the younger cousin would have been a more interesting story– since that was the only one who treated Shen Xi like a family member, ever. Ah well. Now I guess I know how the other readers of Demon Boss in Human World felt!

Essentially, this is a violent human interest drama, about the definition of family and the emptiness of revenge. Along the way are regret, regret, and more regret, accompanied by some of the most amazing face-slapping and scheming I have ever seen! This plot alone is worth reading if you're not turned off by the content, but the writing and translation were fantastic as well. I really appreciated this read, even if it left me somewhat dizzied, and weepy, and also very much feeling hit by a train. I spent a whole day reading it, it was so difficult to put down. Every successive event was like a firework going off directly in front of my face, astonishing and worrying and draining. <<less

Firstly, yes, the couple in the novel is in*est, between cousins. No, the author is not going to say in the middle of the novel that magically they are not related by blood, they are cousins through and through. Amazing to have to say that, after all it's already explicit in the tags, but I know how some people can be.

There are three extra chapters at the end of the novel (96-98) about a couple of blood brothers, you can totally skip them they won't interfere with anything in the reading and even in the main reading there is nothing indicating them being a couple, they are only in Extras they are together and if you feel uncomfortable, you can skip it

The couple being cousins didn't bother me at all, I liked them, ML's dedication, I thought it was really cool.
The MC also liked that he is very intelligent and calculating, I really liked his revenge, that father of his is a very despicable and selfish being, I really understand the MC wanting revenge.

About the ending, I was surprised by the events, but the madness of that certain character I didn't think it made much sense, at least it had the end it deserved.

Overall it was a good read, the main thing is revenge, that was very well developed so if you like that theme then this is for you. Other areas of the novel I wish were better developed by the author, but that's ok.

The story title speaks for itself. Unlike any rebirth story, this one focuses on characters. The ML had so much introspection and so much character depth even though he had a cliche character setting. Every character had proper motives and reason behind their actions. And every character continued to appear and twist the plot instead of disappearing after few chapters.

The funny thing was the villain and the MC had very similar end goals. All stories I have read has that clear distinction of white and black but this one has... more>> so much of morally grey characters. I would recommend this to anyone who would a good plot and complex characters. <<less

Hi there, READ THIS NOVEL PLEASE!!!!! this is my second time reading this novel. Below this part, you can see my first review which was ironically almost exactly a year ago. I had been looking for a good book to read a few days ago and I just couldn't get this book out of my head, even though it has been a whole year! AHAHAHAA.. Honestly, I don't know why, when I reread... more>> this novel for the past few days, the thing I paid most attention to was Shen Ji and Shen Cheng. Honestly, I think a psychological shadow was left on me when I read this novel for the first time last year. Their relationship was too unexpected. But now rereading it for a second time, there were sooooo many obvious hints like the fact that someone as excellent as Shen Ji did not go to university abroad because he wanted to be with Shen Cheng. I'm not saying I support that kind of relationship but I do love their characters so much. Tbh when I started rereading this a few days ago, I was worried I would remember all the plot points and stop halfway but I didn't!!!! This novel had me hooked since the beginning and I loved falling in love with all the characters again, Shen Xi and Li Mingxuan have such a special relationship. Our ML is so dedicated. Again, ill say it every time, I wish Lu Gesen was mentioned in the extras!!!!!!!!

I particularly fell in love with the way the author ended this novel, that each person is a semi-circle and one day, you will turn around and see your other half, your semi-circle standing behind you and smiling at you. *Cheers, hoping we all find our semi-circles <3

Honestly, this novel... unexpected. It stays true to its title, it is indeed VERY different.

I regret not reading the tags... I thought the main couple would be someone else, I never thought it would be blood-related family members... and then the ending with another couple who were literally brothers... caught me off guard!!

and yet, I couldn't stop reading bc this novel is truly amazing! If there was an award for smoothest rebirth and revenge journey then it would undoubtedly go to our MC, Shen Xi. On his path to revenge, he never encountered any stumbling blocks. Which honestly, was very satisfying to read. Even his controversial relationship with his cousin was understandable bc in both of MC's life, all he truly craved was the warmth and love that he was deprived of. For that, I am happy with his relationship with Li Mingxuan bc the latter truly cherished and loved Shen Xi with all his heart. What a lovely and doting ML!! He would do anything for Shen Xi's happiness.

Many people said Shen Xi was at fault in his past life and deserved to suffer in prison... this is crazy bc even his family members admitted that the Shen family raised Shen Xi as a WASTE on purpose, just throwing money at him and ignoring him, bc they hoped he would become a wasted man. Years of indifference and cruelty is what made the MC make a bad decision... I don't think he deserved any of it. His mother was not innocent BUT the past grievances of the previous generation should not have been inflicted on Shen Xi. His father should have taken responsibility and raised Shen Xi with affection instead of ignoring him and only focusing on his two kids from his first marriage...

now, the ending, with Shen Ji and Shen Cheng's love story... Extremely unexpected. I almost skipped it but I wanted to know HOW THE HELL they even get together. after reading it, I realized that this was the real reason why Shen Ji took the blame and gave up his own rights to own the Shen Corporation... still very conflicted though but as long as they're happy.

I wish Lu Gesen was mentioned in the extra's though, I don't think he was at the wedding.

anyways, super interesting novel and LOVED THE REVENGE!! I especially love how Shen Xi was firm in his path of revenge and never once thought of giving up for Li Mingxuan's sake.

Just great family drama, conspiracy, phsicological mistery that had me confused through all of it and wondering if it was a BE.

It is súper well written and has múltiple POVS that let you wondering who is the villan and who is the victim and tho it is pretty clear in the Main plot, the subtext and the emphaty it can bring out of you really lets you see that everybody makes mistakes and are selfish.

Bare in mind the in*est tag, at first I was fine with where the plot was... more>> taking that and didnt really take it seriously, then I got to the extras and well excuse moi, that was out of nowhere and really out of character if you ask me (childbridewhaaat?), anyway don't let the tag stop you from reading a good drama since it is the less shocking part of this particular novel.

I like it! Started reading this yesterday and finished today. Highly recommended, if some people feel uncomfortable with in*est then don't read. This is a story and fiction although I don't have any complain about in*est in the fictional world, I will surely mind this kind of thing in real life hahaha can't imagine having relationship with my family. But all in all it was a great read, I disagree with other reviews about MC getting to far with his revenge but for me its justified, growing up with nobody... more>> and treating you like you don't exist why would you bother being nice with them right? Besides he didn't get anyone killed just destroy the life that his shitty family was trying to protect and deny what is rightfully his. Just like MC said it's their "retribution". The uncle and MC were the same, their life was ruined and lost someone important and all alone therefore they want to destroy the cause of it. That's all lols its my opinion and I respect what other's opinion😊 <<less

One of the better rebirth/revenge plot. A lot of rebirth story with revenge plot is very boring because the revenge plot is only the sub-plot and the main-plot is the love story. A lot of time I feel like authors even forget to do the revenge plot. However, this one have revenge as the main plot and the love story as sub-plot. The characters are very likable and humane, which I like. We don't get a Mary Sue in here ;) and that's the best part.

I like MC character. He's... more>> very decisive and he accepts all consequences of his decision. He never sees himself as a saint and doesn't care to paint himself as one in everyone's eyes. Not your typical hypocrite MC who pretend to be nice and feel guilt after you take revenge.

ML is annoying at first and I was actually rooting for his young brother, but he later develops and became a very good character. He loves and cares about the MC and always backed the MC. He's quite possessive too, also gets h**ny for MC all the time.

I like how the author wrote all the characters to be very humane in a selfish way. There is no true victim in this story and most characters make mistakes at some points. For example, MC's mother is not a victim even though it seems that way at first. MC's father is just a man who loves too much (he has 4 women in his life). ML allows people to bully and mistreat MC in the past because he was influenced by his environment (and the adults). All in all, we get humane characters that are not Mary Sue and that's what make this story great.

All the smuts are also good... not too much and not too little. Just the right amount for BL with plot driven theme. In the case of TRUE in*est theme, I will skip chapters 97-101 because I think I can guess from the comments which two characters are the true brothers in*est and I don't care for their story. Thanks to commenter for pointing that out so we won't have to read it if we don't want to. <<less

I wouldn't have read this if I had read the in*est tag but unfortunately, I blindly dived into it and couldn't get out.

The translation is very good and brought the vibe well. I had to MTL the rest because I just couldn't stop.

If you can get past the in*est, you're in for a satisfying read. The revenge is well thought out and didn't have the annoying twists and turns of typical dog blood novels. The characters themselves feel alive and although the author has a pretty heavy taste for family... more>> conflicts, everything made sense and loose ends were tied up in the end.

The extras with the side CP are purely there just to satisfy the author's imagination. Tbh it's so OOC and there's no indication whatsoever in the main story that the brothers will go that route. Read them only if you're curious but don't expect fluff or something because there's none. <<less

5 stars! Read it in two days. The couple was so much love in them, watching MC step by step completing his revenge was satisfying. Everyone in the family was ala tr*sh. I don't feel bad for them at all, especially the dad.

Some passionate scenes were hot ha, didn't expect that. These first timers are so fierce hehe

awesome short read love everything about the novel/I like how we see less of the villains winning and let the MC just dominating getting his revenge and incognito mode through out so satisfying

Fascinating and dark, yet with hope at the end. This is a revenge story, and any review who hates the novel for the premise it's already stated is being ridiculous.

The plot is pretty tight, and it keeps you guessing till the end. The MC isn't omniscient and it works well. I'm not super happy with one of the reveals at the end, I think it should've been hinted somewhere before, but eh. It was clear to the readers this person was suspicious but for very valid reasons, the characters were... more>> fooled.

Overall, very good story, complex viewpoints, ambitions and motivations and messy messy humans. <<less

This was a fun book, beautifully translated. I quite enjoyed the mystery, though the revenge got a bit extreme for my tastes. I think that's the point though, revenge sounds good except for all the people it hurts.

I really liked the couple as well, though I feel like their love is a bit too magical for me. If you fall in love with someone who is wearing a mask around you, are you actually really in love with them?

The questions about love in this book are pretty interesting in general.... more>> The author makes a point of saying that finding a replacement once you lose your love means your original love is fake. I think that's not true - people handle grief in different ways. It does feel cheap towards the replacement though, but I guess in this story, the replacements know exactly what they're getting into.

The people I found myself most surprised to like are the brothers. They had a charmed life, but when it was challenged, they actually handled it really well. <<less

I liked the book, spent a whole day and night on it. I like the twist in plot where the MC is the scheming one yet pretending to be innocent lol😂, very refreshing. Also how he doesn't refrain from taking revenge!! The author knew to give us exactly what we came here for.

And let's not forget that girl MC hired for revenge; my favorite character lol🤗

Though I will say I'm not so satisfied with how it all ended. The Shen family should have suffered more!! I did love all the... more>> dog drama however; so entertaining!!

Now our main couple's relationship was a little in*est, I know; I read the tags, maybe it's even one of the reasons I read this book. It doesn't seem so taboo to me; they're cousins; it used to happen all the time in humanity's past. However the relationship between the other two Shen brothers is what left my jaw hanging. Brothers!! Same parents!!! I just couldn't!! This sounds hypocritical but whatever. Not to mention that I never got to liking them coz of their attitude to the MC. I can't even!

Also I love love the ML. Such a sweet guy!! Such true love!! Such a good kind hearted man! Though I wish he was a little less double hearted; supporting both sides make his love seem not genuine at all. That's just me though. But the fact that he always stands up for his friend... Who wouldn't want a friend like that?! <<less

Loved the story. Interesting and complex characters that got justice and redemption.
Really hated the father and illegitimate uncle - they are truly brothers. Both of them incredibly callous, destroying lives but still pretending to be the victim. Both got their comeuppance. The father got what he deserved - to be completely alone without any family.

The majority of the events take place in just about a year however the time skip means it's several years after the rebirth.

I was kinda hesitant to read this from the description but after I read the review from the translator I decided to give it a go and I'm glad I did.

Yes, the MC is setting up revenge "traps" but generally he was just giving the folks who hurt him opportunities to trip themselves up.

like his father didn't have to be a scum who would try to pick up someone "young enough to be his own granddaughter" he could have just like not done that but he did. Shen Rong LITERALLY all he did was help others know about the shady sh*t he was doing and kept him from having an unearned good reputation. And he isn't the only person scheming against the Shen family so his revenge goes so much faster than he expects and he doesn't know why until the end of the story either.

The ML and MC were cousins but essentially strangers to each other. ML falls pretty fast but like it wouldn't be so weird to fall for a stranger and decide to pursue them that quickly so whatever. The MC seems to be interested in the ML bc coincidence sets him up with the opportunity to get comforted when he isn't feeling well and he is starving for care and affection so he takes it.

Another review mentioned all MC cares about is sleeping with the ML but like that's more true if it's literally sleeping bc he has insomnia and being cuddled to sleep helps his nightmares.

The relationship between the protagonists is more like happening alongside the revenge than as a part of the revenge story.

It was a nice read. It's a well written and well developed family revenge book. With no frontal face slapping and dog blood drama. It's more subtle behind the scenes revenge with a romance subplot. Everything that's was there was there and the ending before the extra was just so perfect and satisfying for some odd reason. Maybe it's because of what the MC said.

I truly enjoyed the overall development of the romance. If you ignore the in*est part, the whole romance was really good. The author gave us a... more>> ML for our pitiful MC to feel loved and secured. Sighhhhh it's so sweet yet painful. We get to see how the MC crave the warmth of the ML's embrace just because he never received it after his grandfather passed on. At first it was just greed for the warmth. Then it slowly and unknowingly turned into love.

The ML's romance journey was a sudden one too. First it was pity then lust then love. Honestly, he is one of the most understanding MLs. I don't even know how he can even juggle between his best friend aka the hated brother of the MC and his lover. Also I liked how the author developed his growth in the relationship. And because of this growth, I feel that he actually put in more effort and thought into the relationship than the MC.

Also, my journey of discovering who the ML was is as follows:

Soooo this guy turned up and I was like he has the vibes of a ML or a second ML but I was like nahhh he is his cousin. It's impossible. Plus, in my head the ML is the dude the MC met in prison. But the prison dude appeared and it sounded like a little shou. So I was wondering if the novel is a rare top MC novel. Didn't find the tags but did find an in*est tag. And I thought oh it might be the MC's elder bro and that cousin of his having a relationship. And so I continued on to the comments. Lo and behold... Someone commented that yes the MC and the ML were in an in*estuous relationship. So I'm in SHOCKKK! What a surprise!

Anyways, the overall plot was ok-ish. But for some odd reason not the most entertaining. The whole story basically revolved around the MC's revenge plan to ruin his Shen family by destroying/ bankrupting the company, ruining the relationship between his brothers and father and destroying their family's reputation. Along the way he discovered some secrecy's that was not revealed in his past life that was kinda unexpected but not thattt interesting. Luckily the novel wasn't that long or it would have been boring. But overall is still a good read though.

Also, WOW the ending for the extra really made me wanna read the authors other book ekkkkkk! Also, I can't believe there was another in*est couple! It totally came out of NOWHERE! Also, I can't believe the two in*est relationships was so easily accepted. Is it because they be boys so no babies will come out of it? Oh wells.

Side note: Damnnnnn😩 the characters had similar names and I totally got the MC's brother confused with him and went on for half the chapter thinking the brother was the MC! Also these characters be Film Emperors and Empress! How can hey end act to the point that NO ONE found any flaws?!

Anyways, if you don't mind an in*estious relationship and are looking for a decent family revenge novel that is not dog bloody with a quality romance development, this is for you! <<less

This story was mostly about revenge with an unexpected twist. MC, Shen Xi, is reborn but he is still more flawed compared to most of the second chance novels I've read. He did wrong in his past life and even admits to being in the wrong but still hates his family for not bailing him out of it. I think it is justified in holding a grudge if he already knew more of the truths that he uncovered after his rebirth. After MC's rebirth, he does not commit the crime that landed him in prison. Instead, he became smarter and worked secretly to get his revenge. He wanted to tear apart the close relationship between his dad and two older brothers.

ML, Li Mingxuan, is MC's blood related cousin. He's the best character in this novel... well considering it's full of flawed and rotten characters. ML felt regret for ignoring MC when he was young and ignorant. Due to this guilt, he ended up closer to MC and falling in love first. MC had skin hunger and accepted ML's warmth but later he did love ML.

MC's dad, Shen Dehan, let MC go to prison because there was a requirement in SD's dad's will that all three of SD's sons needed to be present for the reading of the will for it to be in effect after MC's 23rd birthday. However, if the requirement wasn't met then SD will hold onto the Shen company shares until it can be. The will also stated that the shares will be evenly split among the three. This amount was 60% of company shares so each would get 20%. In MC's first life, MC was in jail so SD was able to hold onto the shares past MC's 23rd birthday.

SD hated MC because MC's mom cheated on him and was pregnant with another man's child when she committed su*cide. She killed herself because she found out the baby's daddy was using her to get back at the Shen family. The baby's daddy was Wang Changlin, aka Shen Shang (SD's older half brother). WC's mom was pregnant with him but his dad did not know and he had married SD's mom. Later SD's mom tried to kill WC, causing WC to be hospitalized and not be able to see his mom before she died. WC held a grudge and vowed to wipe out the Shen family.

In MC's first life, he was killed by WC's subordinate.

Of note: This is one of those novels where most of the frequently seen characters are gay and a lot of the women are selfish, vicious, or crazy.

To sum it up... this novel isn't gonna give you the warm fuzzies. <<less

I rate 5 stars ⭐️ for translation. I’m not really a fan of revenge but I thoroughly enjoyed this due to light quality translation.

A quite heavy dog blood drama. But it’s an interesting read. At least I read I all in 1 day. It’s not in much of face slapping, it’s more on real revenge. There’s alot of drama from previous generation, but was blamed on innocent children, so ya it’s quite dark, dog blooded and later on there’s an extra chapter that even darker. But I really don’t mind. After all madness there’s actually rainbows. I enjoyed the read. Thank you
