Pleasantly surprised by how good this novel is. Didn't have high hopes starting this because KR romance novels isn't my thing but this was better than expected.

One word to describe this novel is "moderation". The author wasn't overambitious about the plot or worldbuilding. It might sound bad for some but I personally would rather a plot where readers can follow than an overzealous plot that makes absolutely no sense. The main characters are likable and the romance is quite healthy in KR novel standards. Others may find the MC weak and yes, she is weak physically but she's actually mentally strong considering the environment she grew up in. However, expect a slow character growth due to many setbacks but the journey is worth it.

The ML.. Oh the ML is great. I never expect to like the ML this much. As this is a R18 novel so /coughs/ the ML isn't very respectful in that area but outside of that he often puts the MC's feelings above his. He place all his faith in the MC and concede to her time and time again. Unlike other MLs that act like possessives is their only trait and having that "she must listen to me because I love her and knows what's best for her" mindset, the ML here reigns in his possessiveness and supports the MC's decisions. It is only because he is patient that the MC is able to grow at her own pace.

The downside would be that the beginning is a bit confusing because it started with the MC getting kidnapped by the ML at CH2 to her meeting him at the inn for their rendezvous before returning to the supposed timeline. I guess the author wanted to build up tension for the story but it left me feeling confused and impatient. For anyone wondering, the scene at CH2 continues at around

However, do not start there as the chapters before that lays the foundation for their relationship. If not the ML will just look like a jerk abducting the MC away lmao.

Another downside is that the novel ended a bit too quick as I would've like to see more interactions of the MC and ML especially when the MC is finally free. Without the extras it would feel incomplete.

As this novel is more focused on the MC's growth and escape from the antagonists, don't expect too much from the plot. The writing and translation is great, making it an enjoyable read. 300+ chapters may seem like a lot but the chapters are pretty short as it seems like the translator split the chapters. All things said, this is a novel worth reading so do give it a try! (Would also recommend reading reviews from reviewers that have completed or at read till halfway for accuracy.) <<less

Just LOVED IT! The synopsis was whatever but when I started reading I got intrigued. The first 40 or so chapters really touch only the surface of everything that made the present what it it. It's way way more than what I could have even wanted.

For me it was rarely predictable except you know the he would fall in love first blah blah blah. Besides those tropes it kept me on the edge not knowing what to expect.

At the beginning I was starting to get annoyed with the MC because wtf she already knows that she's being given up to a man 20 years older than her for money but why does she still run the entire government??? HOT HOT HOT. Storyline is great and the smut is to die for. Tons of scenes where the ML is brutally doing the FL but I actually like it because she enjoys it, not like in CN where it almost seems like r**e. There were several times when the villains almost succeeded in messing up their life but the ML and his race are like super human so they won hahah. The epilogue is super nice too.

Don’t missed this gem of the book, if you like fantasy romance, cute couple, palace intrigue and lots of hot snu snu. And most importantly don’t read those low rating because they just read a few chapters 🙄. This is so unfair to the story.

I know the 1st arc of the story is a bit confusing given MC personality, but if you read till the middle you will know the cause. It’s good but I drop it cause I couldn’t stand how the ML wouldn’t listen to MC rejection when she was uncomfortable and will force her on doing things while the author portrait him as the one who encourage and make the MC speak her will freely without anyone being able to force or judge her 💀💀💀.

I feel like author never really tried to do some reason-aftermath thinking, because everything that was told in narration just eventually contradicts itself. Nothing makes sense - politics, social models, desicion-making, reasoning. It is just plain and s*upid.

Her guy treats her like a doll he likes to play with and than like a beloved pet. He never really truly thinks about a situation from her perspective and only thinks what would serve him best. Others think that he is considerate but he really only disguised as such, he in fact is really selfish judging from his actions.

And how would I love the story even with all of the above if MC was the one driving the story forward, but this is your typical Cinderella - something happens - > MC reacts - > something follows - > MC reacts. No decision made by MC ever turned the plot, its always someone else diceding it.

I am not going to touch smutty scenes in the review becouse I just skipped them, from this novel I was expecting the plot and exploration of really interesting conflicts with multidimensional MC.

Before starting before, I read a comment saying that the plot is just there to lead to s*x scenes. And tbh, yeah I see it now. It feels like that's the purpose of this novel. An issue arises and then the closing scene is *bam*: s*x. It's not bad tho, but for me, it's also not that good. And tbh, the MC may be smart but sometimes it's questionable. The ML is, uhm, for me (especially on their first night) was too.. Harsh?? Pushy?

Avoid if you wanted a story that was in-depth. In the beginning, there was some world establishing but it quickly became a story for those that wanted an aggressive ecchi story. Maybe the plot does progress faster and I haven't reached that point yet, but I am not sticking around to "cop a feel" or "pitch a tent" if you will.

I would also like to mention that the female lead is powerless. She can not solve her problems herself and relies on the male lead to solve them for her. Keep in mind that the male lead is also the person that bones her. I know that the story is set in a place where men are clearly dominant, but I expected more from her. She is someone that has been rigorously educated and has managed many affairs of her kingdom yet is unable to fight back effectively.

Pfff.. Her royal family treat her (FL) like a doormat, but she still doing things for them and tell it's for people in the country as an excuse.. Babe, if you are that smart, you should've do something better for yourself. Like accepting ML little help it would make your life easier. I feel tired seeing they bully you, and you just always endure it all the time. I hope FL can fight them a little, not being overly submissive.

It’s a good read. Both FL and ML have their own unique personality that would stimulate the readers. The villains are irritating not frustrating making the main couple stand out more. Other characters are also interesting. The plot have a good direction albeit a little drawn out.

The quality of translation is also good and that is a plus ❤️❤️❤️

I came for the smut and stayed for the plot.

The chemistry between the main characters is amazing, and even though the ML comes off as dominant he isn't forceful when it matters - which is the most important quality in an ML as far as I'm concerned. Especially when the FL is kinda weak-willed, and has a hard time speaking up; I just love seeing a man be attentive and care for her opinion.

There are not much chapters updated yet and the story is not yet done in the COO, so a lot of things can still happen. But I'm still rating it 5⭐at the moment.

The story is really good. The FL wants to kill herself but at the same time she wants to do it in a way that hurt her family. She’s not the I can’t do anything about my situation so I’m gonna cry about it type but at the same time she’s not going over and beyond what she thinks she’s capable of. Anyway it’s a really good book and you should give it a try

This story is the best!!!! The storyline got more & more interesting by each chapters updated and the ML seems tough & savage but truthfully he seems like a soft & kind-hearted towards our FL, Leah. Leah is also one of a kind for a FL as she's also strong in her own way of enduring the royal family's mistreatment despite her wanting to die. This is one of the best smut series I’ve ever read!!! Such an emotional roller coaster. 13 chapter so far and I can see the glimpse of ML’s sweetness. He’s definitely more caring than FL’s family!
