However, the homunculus created through magus amalgamation did not resemble her master.
Instead, it took the form of a child.
As she observed her failed creation, Bea realized that it bore a striking resemblance to a certain man whose life she had once saved.
This man was none other than the Archduke of Vilkanos, from beyond the mountains.
Upon learning of the Archduke’s true identity, Bea went to demand compensation from him.
“I formally propose to you. For the honor of Vilkanos and yours!”
“No! I told you already! This is NOT your child!”
The man, upon seeing the homunculus, stubbornly insisted on accepting it as his own!

The MC was heavily ab*sed from her mentor, to the point where she finds it very normal and doesn’t think it’s ab*se. The ML was raised with love, so he sometimes misunderstands what she says. Because she’s so inexperiencedwith the concept of love, she often says things that are super easily misunderstood. Thankfully, we can see her POV, or readers would probably think the worst of her.
I am enjoying this story. The smut isn't the best for me but the storyline is slowly blooming. The relationships are clunky between MC, Homunculus and others but when I think about what everyone has experienced and the biases established by their lives - it makes sense. Plus as time is passing and interactions happen the characters are growing!! I'm curious to see how they end up and the path it takes for them to reach that point.
The story starts after a massive war between alchemists and mages. The MC Bea was a fighter in this war under her master who essentially was the first and only person to give her care. From his death she is obsessed with bringing him back to life. The ML Aseph in the process of dying from grievous injuries turns up in her hidden lab. To further her quest she heals him. Aseph becomes enamored and she starts to see him as more than potential data. He has to leave and after waiting a while she fully focuses back on her original state of being obsessed with getting her master back into her life. She manages to make a homunculus but the attempt was affect by Aseph's blood and existence in her lab. The homunculus inherited the anti-magic trait of Aseph, hindering Bea's research and damaging her lab equipment/materials. So to continue her work she needs money to replace what was broken and believes the best way to get this is compensation from Aseph since his history with her made the homunculus that was supposed to be her master a failure with ongoing problems.
Part of the communication issue isn't just her interpersonal skills but language as well. The translator highlighted this in the 59th chapter's note explaining how in Korean even when she straight out says it - she’s saying “He’s not a child—he’s Homunculus”, and Aseph then interprets this as, “He’s not a child—he’s [kiddo’s name].” because also if you didn't know what a homunculus was and the ' kid's ' name is Homun, homunculus is just the long form of his name Jenny - Jennifer.
