It seemed as if Lin Banxia was being targeted by something strange.

He was alone, but the home was full of strange noises; banging closets with nothing in them, dripping taps with no water, and strange chewing noises outside the window.

Until one night…

He woke up suddenly, and when he opened his eyes, he saw a skeleton as white as snow lying on the ceiling of his house. It turned its head, grinning at him with a brilliant smile.

hahahaha becomes stronger than ML by the end lmao. First time I have ever read a story where the shou is legit super strong and surpasses the gong

Their relationship is cute. It starts off as friendship and slowly evolves into romance. This romance is particularly aided by a heretic

Uh basically there is a contagious super strong heretic that can infect everyone into falling into dreams and there is no way to come out and the heretic will stop spreading only on death. But in that dream, MC and ML become high school students and become this cheesy, cute couple. So once they come out, it becomes a natural progression hehehehe

The end has a bit of angst that broke my heart for ML but then all becomes well. Though ML becomes slightly yanderish in the end but frankly speaking, it's expected given what MC does

Basically, MC is chosen by the stars (?) to be the next god. Until he accepts that position, the Earth and humans will slowly get infected and perished. So MC has to become god and clean up the heretics to stop Earth pollution. Unfortunately, this means MC has to leave ML. He also loses his emotions so even though ML cries and begs him to come back, MC cannot fathom why and simply leaves. Except somehow MC manages to remember his memories, regains his emotions and refuses the star's calls. But it's been 2/3 years or so and ML has by then become crazy with grief and sorrow. So when MC leaves for even a couple of days suddenly to deal with the pollutants, ML locks him up in their room and bangs him day and night for several days. Even after that, he keeps MC within his eye-sight, threatening MC that if he even dares think about leaving he will kill MC and kill himself.

The side characters are well-fleshed out and have their own sad backstories. It's a pretty wonderful book. <<less

I've read several novels by Xi Zixu such as fantasy farming, my five elements lack you, Kaleidoscope of death and Cherry Blossom upon a wintry sword, all of which are my favorites. But I am a bit annoyed why ML has to be more handsome, smarter and stronger than MC? Yes, I know so that it can protect the MC but all Xi Zixu's books are always like that. What I like the most about this novel is the ending when the MC disappears, that's the climax of the story. To be honest, I really don't need a second partner, I prefer to focus on MC and ML only even though there are novels where the second pair doesn't interfere with the storyline or take up several chapters in the story. And why was MC chosen? Was it just that he was slow and fearless? But why doesn't he have any fear? I mean even though his uncle's family is like that he should be afraid.

Especially the sides characters! Li Ye and Li Su I like them! Of course Song Qingluo and Lin Banxia are my favorites muehehehe

READ THIS STORY I TOTALLY HIGH RECOMMENDED IT!

Oh, and don't stop reading when you think this story have a bad ending! Pfft! What's bad ending!? I just know sweet sweet ending!

Hidden gem!

Like heck, why is no one kind enough to translate this I want to punch the wall T__T

Partial review since I'm at chapter 78... and slowly losing interest...

No, noーthe problem is me, not the story (lelz). At this point, the main characters are already together and my heart is already considering it a happy ending despite the remaining 40++ chapters I still need to read lol~ Don't mind me xD Sigh... that's why I love slow romance. I love the confession to be near the end or 20 chaps... more>> before the ending...

Anyways, onto the points I like: great refreshing premise. A mix of horror and intrigue. I like the "secret org"-ish type of premise combo. I like the main characters too, especially the MCーa very unique character with a very heartbreaking backstory. Same also goes with the ML. I applaud the pace and story execution of each case. Very, very scary and intriguing... with funny inserts from the characters. Horror x humor = golden combo. HOWEVER, on the romance department, it's... dry. I mean, like the author's other novel (Fantasy Farm), it's a little not 'convincing' enough for me. Hint is scarce. There should be at least the when and the why's. Like ya know, I don't believe in love at first sight (not that they do on this story tho) but at least I know there has to be the why's. Finding someone as beautiful is so shallow so there has to be a deeper reason why you are attracted to someone, right? Was it their personality? Behavior? Principles and convictions? So more or less you can pinpoint the instance when you fall in love and why do you think it will last. There's an anchor. It's not just skin-deep. So yeah, sadly, on MC's part, I went "WTH?! O.O Wait a minute!" but on ML's part, I get it. That aside, I still enjoy the whole story because the premise is so interesting.

The story revolves around the strange things happening around MC (Lin Banxia), which started when he moved in to his new cheaply bought house and had to seek help from his only neighbor, the ML. From then on, he was dragged (and sometimes voluntarily lol) to many strange cases that are usually handled by ML as a job.

Just a WARNING though: for those with a faint of heart, lots of mentions of self-mutilation, self-harm, su*cide, abuse, gore (I will try to update the tags). It's not depicted in an alarming level though (enough to cause nightmares), but please proceed with caution nonetheless.

So yeah, so far so good. I liked it very much. Will try to update this review once I'm done reading. Highly recommended! <<less

it's good

kind of light-hearted for female readers, even if there are many disasters or angst moments, I can say those are toned-down. the 'author wants to say' parts are hilarious..... so the pain is lightened.

it's supernatural but mixing some investigation part, quite rare these days~ horror part is great~

MC is actual hilarious guy. it's not like he doesn't feel scared, he's just that slow lmao. ML is cold but very warm to MC, even very pampering toward end. side CP is good and dandy, fortunately.... I quite feel bad for... more>> other mobs' fate but oh well things happen.

but if I must be honest, the last arc is quite unnecessary and makes me feel unsatisfied for some reason. not the real closure that I want.

Main Couple Interaction wholesome. 5/5

Plot and world building 2/5.

This story is a lot like SCP and My Ideal Town combined.

I thought it was interesting, especially when the author describes how they handle the wishing shadow. I was hyped for the story. Afterwards the details of things takes a nosedive.

I ignored the fact that they skipped how MC's coworker stole the shadow and why the shadow was attracted to the woman in the first place smh.

The author doesn't provide many details about the organization that works against mental pollution. Who are the scientists that research them? Dunno. Whose the voice directing the research? Dunno. Whose in charge of the organization? Dunno.

Much of the logic behind heretic objects and how to handle them also aren't explained well. I think there needs to be a sense of realism for the reader to suspend their disbelief. Instead the author forces readers to plunge headfirst into ideas that aren't fully conveyed. Much like how monitors are just sent to places without anything that could counteract the situation. Such as heretic objects that could minimize the effects of another heretic object. You just had that one lady monitor

There aren't any level progression for power ups either. So you can't get any real sense for how powerful or weak things should be. To the point author just basically wrote MC got golden finger then saved the world. That's how the plot was written.

Earlier I related this story to My Ideal Town. My Ideal Town is 10000000x better because you could tell the power progression and the strengths and weaknesses of each town's god, how strong they are compared to each other. The author wrote the MC recieves golden finger and saves the world in a better and more detailed way.

And the horror, because there aren't that much descriptive details it reads off as if author watched some cheesy horror movies and then wrote tht in the story and expects reader to be scared of it. Not scary. There was no tension at all.

The child skeleton isn't fully explained either

Honestly just read it for the main Couple and MC's friend. I stuck around till the end to give author the benefit of the doubt that they will explain things or flesh things out but nah. Everything apart from main couple and MC friend interactions were just frustrating to read.

All in all 4 stars for translator and the romance between MC and ML.

Xiao Hua is the reason why MC lacks or has delayed fear because his fears are kept by her. There's lack of power level so she just eats the dream like??? The ants are afraid of her, why???.

Awesome!!!!!

MC is so cute and money is his favourite. He works as a corpse collector, bought an apartment in a haunted house come across a series of event with ML as his partner.

ML is cold, handsome and extremely gentle towards our mc

Second couple, li su and Li ye were also very sweet.
