As disaster was about to strike, a group of survivors transmigrated into a desolated world and were challenged to a game of survival. From terrifying acid rains, to endless natural disasters, the heavens burn while the earth scorches, radiation is rampant, and nobody is spared from the dangers of this hellscape. The only way one survives is by building a shelter and slowly upgrading it in hopes of surviving another day.

Luckily, Su Mo awoke a Doomsday Survival System that allowed him to infinitely level up and upgrade his shelter! The main shelter wooden door can be upgraded into a metal door, which in turn upgrades into a composite gate; the wooden spears can be upgraded into bronze spears, which eventually upgrade all the way into electromagnetic spears… While everyone struggled to survive, Su Mo was fully loaded, and well equipped to dominate the post-apocalyptic world.

“While some of us are lighting oil lamps, he’s been using refrigerators!”

“The walls in his shelter alone are tens of meters thick, it’s the safest place on this planet.”

“Before I die, I wish to spend one day in his shelter…”

I love the apocalypse theme especially when they create or build a shelter. But this one is different, it's more on MC bragging and the side character is only there to doubt or the wow guy. It's a different kind of face-slapping.

Try this one "This game is too realistic" also apocalypse but the story is them building their shelter for at least 400 chapter

I read mtl to c525.

I would say the premise is nice. The disaster, ranking system, ... more>>
Spoiler

And how system gets nerfed further down the story

[collapse]
the overall world picture. It was good enough to make me burn my brain cells mtling to c500.

What made me stopped though is AMAZING nationalism. It's blatant, unrepentant, and gets shoved down your throat over and over and over. You know, I could tolerate some overt nationalism as it's pretty much almost always present in apocalyptic scenarios, but this one just going at it again and again.

Oh? 4 billion humans, of course only Chinese excels, or teams aced with Chinese. History? Heck ya, thousand years, they are all Chinese top guns. The villains? You bet they are different nationality with sprinkles of fellow Chinese for 'equality'. Even the system gets biased to Chinese because MC is Chinese. Suddenly a bonus reward to all Chinese literally because MC is also Chinese. Its a random plot device meant to glorify Chinese, even though this is an apocalyptic novel based on racial survival. Honestly all these I could still swallow, bitterly. However, the narration that in every human race crisis, Chinese these China there, every single time like the rest of non-chinese dont even get an honorable mention felt so narcisistic, I just cant go on. Imagine? 4B people and other races are only mentioned as cookie-cutter villains for a while, NO OTHER MENTIONS in a apocalyptic novel involving the billions of people in 500 chapters.

Notice how many times I mentioned Chinese? This story felt like that. It could easily read better to just spread the love but nooo. Do these authors get paid for how much they raise their nose up the sky or something?

Thanks for reading the rant. Anywho, I failed in this China numbawan indoctrination. <<less

Yeah. This novel is hit or miss.

The delivery of the post-apocalyptic-survival-game theme isn't bad. For those who like post-apocalyptic survival scenarios and build-and-upgrade games, it's nice. However, there is too much reliance on monsters/enemies loot drops for the most basic survival. You have magical tools that make materials gathering easier, but not for crafting basic tools/items/furnitures. No, for those, it's loot drops. F*cking loot drops.

Too much words spent on: 1] The f*cking audience reactions and comments (+ the regular chinese need of rankings, bragging, and worship of the masses) -... more>> 2] The loot and rewards descriptions

As said before, the protagonist has a realistic amount of hero complex. Even though he wants to save people, he isn't going to put himself at risk for it. He denounced a foreigner approach to teaming for only caring for the strong, while praising his country's sense of community in hard times by caring for the weak despite the strain it would put on ressources.

However, he waste good opportunities to help others at nearly no cost for himself despite wanting his fellow humans and countrymen to survive (not even sharing 1l of water with healing properties for free when he produce 7l/day). He thinks and feels for other, condemn others people for being cruel to other humans, but remain incredibly selfish. Even though he knows he needs some kind of team, he doesn't put any effort in building one.

Not even
Spoiler

when he freed some s*aves, who worshipped him for that (so very little chances of betrayal if he had taken them as subordinates), not even when one of them had a less than 1 month old baby (which he sent away with the other freed s*aves on a 50km trip in the cold to a shelter that would be in trouble with the comming disaster).

[collapse]

He doesn't seek or really help anyone until the author forces him to. And what a forced plot event it was:

Spoiler

It was stated that family members would come in a later wave in the area of an already etablished member. Yet the sister of the protagonist arrived more than 60km away from him.

Furtheremore, the 2nd wave of humans arrived right in the middle of a disaster scenario, you know, the thing that require at least 5 days notice to have a chance to prepare and survive it.

Third, the most ridiculous thing. He has a big transport vehicle, but when he tried to use it to reach his sister, the wind of the blizzard overturned it and pushed it away. But wait... Such a strong wind capable of tossing away a truck weighting tons doesn't seem to affect him and his wolf as much as regular tempest wind speeds...

And if that wasn't enough, the emergency teleport function of newly arrived human, which should have sent them to the nearest human shelter, sent the sister hundreds of km away from the brother's area.

At the end of the event, it wasn't even him who shared the rewards with the rest of the humans, it was the system that decided that the rewards would be shared with the rest of humanity. The only reason he left the people who accompanied him loot chests, was because he had called them for help and needed to give some kind of pay.

[collapse]

Can you see how forced that drama was? The author went against so many things he etablished before, that I almost dropped the novel right there.

Despite that, I'm still reading. <<less

This is one of those web novels that'll be hit and miss for people. Maybe for those that like it, they'll find themselves exhausted after a bit and need to pause for a bit.

Has tons of elements I enjoy:

    • cool technology
    • A useful system that doesn't try to kill the user.
    • A protagonist with a realistic amount of hero complex
    • Slowly forming but solid team (mainly pets at first)
Has some elements people may not like:

    • Nationalism - not as bad as I've seen in other web novels, but rather present.
    • Tons of upgrades/unboxing rewards. I love this kind of stuff, but some will feel like it's filler
Overall, give it a shot. You should know if it's for you within a few chapters.
