Matthia never does what is typical for a story. When you read the description, you would wonder why anyone would choose this set up for a story. Also how could it get resolved in five chapters. But it is and it's perfect and wonderful. This is one of my favorite Matthia stories, that really makes you sit and contemplate what love and acceptance are.

Messiah was really interesting because it left me with questions and wondering about what the conclusion means for the rest of the story.

Spoiler

One of the protagonists seems to find pleasure in experiencing the memories and subsuming themselves in the other person's psyche. It leaves you wondering if they regarded the other person as more essential and was the reason for it their personality or the secrets that they shared.

[collapse]

I recommend it but don't expect a simple and easy read. It really gets you thinking.

Ok, so Messiah is the first time I've ever read a novel with a BE and I didn't know what I should prepare myself for.

This novel is short, but beautifully written (& beautifully translated). The feelings between the MC and the ML are expressed quietly and, yet, their feelings are more intense and extreme than a lot of obvious romances eg. Overbearing possessive yandere CEO types.

And I wouldn't necessarily say that it was a BE per say, but more that it was a suitable ending in line with the characters... more>> personalities. The ending didn't make me sad at all, instead, in an odd sort of way, made me feel at peace for the MC & ML as in the end they received their heartfelt wishes. <<less
