It's a happy ending.

You'd think the worldbuilding would be shallow for a short story of this length, but in fact it's more original and thorough than some novels 100x its size.

For example, the demon king has four arms. For example, the unique contrast between demonic and human understanding of time. For example, the humorous cultural differences between species.

I was surprised at the unpredictability of the story. Definitely a really sweet read about a romance between the demon king and a human sorcerer, different from the usual fair.

It's a HE! I was so ready for the human mage to either betray the Demon King or for the Demon King to live in infinite grief. Thank goodness it was neither, and was a proper happy ending. 😭 The human isn't a flawless white lotus either, but despite some initial, minor deception to the Demon King at first, he does dedicate his life to serving the Demon King.

This is a short and bittersweet story.

The interactions between the MC and ML are so sweet, I wish their ending was less bittersweet and more happy. I need extras of the future MC and ML together.

A genuine love story (no appearance involved! a rarity) with a short tragedy twist but finish with happy ending. It's short but felt complete... development is not hasty nor felt forced. Translation is well done... easy relaxed reading. Absolutely recommended.

Oh goodness I didn't think this would make me cry so much. I love the story and the thought put into it. The small details such as demons having 4 arms, the differences in lifestyle between humans and demons, and the passage of time that's not reflected through the demon's eyes... very nice. I really wish I could see their life after the ending. I want to know what happens after! I want to see them being so happy together... It's not enough, need more!

This is such a lovely little story with such an interesting premise, to fall in love the way the demon did, and to put so much work into that love, unconditionally. Once again, Matthia is able to create very distinct personalities and a world in just a few chapters. It's a very refreshing change and worth trying.

It's rare to see a short story with good world building. Also, the story narration was fantastic, and really unique, and it really helped building an impression of how demons are in this story.

Goodness, the seventh chapter's ending broke me. But I'm really happy to see that this has a happy ending! 5 out of 5!

It really has been and will still be a lifetime gift for the MC, the tittle didn't lie about it. Such a heartwarming, beautiful and simple story, it has light feels, nothing too heavy, but still beautiful, love it simply.

Heartrending. Made me cry about something else other than being a corporate s*ave on a Monday morning.

First few chapters might make you doubt the main characters' goals, but author cleared them all up in a bittersweet— yet beautiful— conclusion.

TRIGGER WARNING: summoned mage is suicidal in the beginning of the story. There are hints if it but it is explicitly explained in the end

The Demon is so incredibly sweet and loving to the mage but a little clueless about the difference in their lifespan. It was both touching and disheartening to realize that the aging of his companion mage was both unimportant to his love but unrecognized. Seeing physical changes but not understanding the cause.

Happy ending for sure. The kind of happy ending that allows happiness to find the mage without a moments wait longer in his sorrow. <<less
