I'm sensing a lot of mixed reactions to this novel lol, but it's honestly not that bad?

I really enjoyed both the MC and ML's personalities; they have a lot of chemistry and their banter develops well over the course of the novel. Some of the MC's decisions feel a little rabid at times (and I mean this in a good way, because I love slightly insane characters), but it's mentioned several times early on that the moral uprightness of the ML's world is quite underdeveloped and he's really just responding... more>> to that as an ordinary person would: do first, think later.

The only thing I want to criticise is how underwhelming the side characters are, as is with most transmigration novels, and maybe the

"cosplaying as a poor farmer so that I can show people how down-to-earth I am" reality show. I get that it's popular or whatever, but some of the authors comments felt downright disrespectful.

its okay for short read without angst, its not bad like all their behaviour depends on environment they grow , not everyone can be perfect so dont mind me venting, do read it!!!! 🤗

The nonsensical mindset of the MC and behaviour of the ML mean that you can’t get very emotional about the love story.

MC is too braindead, and his actions towards the MC are often contradictory, so he doesn’t feel like a real person reborn into a novel he has read, he feels like another NPC protagonist. Actually, the villain seems more like a real person, and the MC like the novel character: the ML witnessed the MC materialise out of thin air and fall into his bathtub, he has a consistent... more>> internal dialogue and point of view, and there is some vague story hints that he actually met MC when he was about 10.

Presumably, MC blipped into the novel world and they had a cute moment where the ML fell in love with him and realised his world wasn’t real, or at least that MC is from another world. So when MC popped back into his world and fell into his bathtub, he knew it was the same boy he fell in love with.

im gonna keep reading for a bit, but if MC keeps sleeping in the same bed, hugging the ML, kissing him to placate him when he gets angry, and STILL can’t even entertain the possibility that the ML may genuinely like him, I’ll drop it. <<less

MC is the most irrational person in the novel, he is simply incoherent, extremely aggressive and seems to believe that ML owes him something.

MC treats ML as his "boss" but he just doesn't respect him at all, ML deserves better

ML receives a small wound saving MC and MC doesn't even want to apply medicine to him!!!. They also take the whole novel solving a misunderstanding, and only because MC for some random reason refuses to be honest

MC is a total cloudcuckoo-lander! His characterisation makes sense: ADHD, with not a lot of education, but bursting with energy, sensitive about pride, and in possession of a soft heart. Such a person is most adept at digging pits for themselves in real life, and it works very well to create comedy. The secondhand embarrassment is balanced beautifully by the cheeky writing. There are plot holes, but I enjoyed this a lot.

Take the protagonist from "Bird Dude Nie Bufan" and put him in a modern setting. That is the story.

In all seriousness though, it's a pretty good novel (so far). The characters are likable, it has a decent plot and the Translator/s update almost every single day as I'm writing this review, which should really be praised since mandarin really is an ass to translate. 💞

The protagonis, Xia Xingchi, transmigrates into the time when the cannon fodder 'ran away' from his fiance and accidentally meets Li Chengyuan (ML). What he didn't know, was Li Chengyuan was the fiance he ran away from, and he basically talked and explained BS to Li Chengyuan on why he left his fiance. When it was revealed who Li Chengyuan was.... he somehow bs-ed his way again and survived.

The MC/Protagonist:

Xia Xingchi can be described as a shameless cowardly type of person but he does have his morals. He can be shameless, but he does do his job well as long as he is paid. He might sometimes be a coward, but that doesn't make him easy to be trampled on. Like for example when an actor tried to embarrass him by saying his clothes were fake, he retaliated back even when he knew he'd likely get in trouble. (I think there were one chps 10-12)

S/N: My words don't give justice to how shameless and chaotic Xia Xingchi in the novel actually is. But he really is the embodiment of the quote: "I don't want peace, I want violence."

The ML/Love Interest:

Li Chengyuan may look like your typical overbearing, cold, possessive, wealthy Love Interest, and he does kinda fall in your average ML stereotype. But believe me, there's more to him than that. He has this very vague past regarding his illness, and there are subtle hints of mental and physical health issues caused because of such illness. There is a brief dialogue on chapter 12, where Li Chengyuan tells himself to lower his voice because 'they' might hear him. The 'they' I'm guessing must mean his family or at the very least, close relatives/friends.

I'm guessing that in the near future they'd reveal Li Chengyuan's past, but with the little hints scattered in the chapters, I already have a story in mind. Overall, 4.5/5 <<less

Obligatory : I didn't read the whole novel teehee

The novel's premise is so cute so I had high expectations. So this review is partly my fault for putting the bar too high.

The MC is obstuse. Really realLY REALLY OBSTUSE. When the tags say that he was dense I didn't think he would be obstuse too. I personally like MCs that are a bit dense since it makes for an interesting story but still, this is too much. Being dense is one this but being obstuse is where I draw the... more>> line. There's times when the MC is considerate to the ML.

like when the MC went to a restaurant with the ML and the ML was upset that the MC was stingy with the money he gave him so made him pay for dinner. The MC finds that the food is too expensive so he only buys the ML dinner so the MC has nothing to eat. (In the end the ML thought he was very endearing for doing that and buys him dinner)

But in the end I dropped the novel because of a certain event.

So the MC decides to go with a BUS to the venue because he's embarrassed to go in the limo the ML got for him. BUT HE DOESN'T SAY ANYTHING TO THE ML!?? THE SAME ML THAT HAS CONTROL ISSUES BECAUSE THIS s*upid bit*h TRIED TO RUN AWAY TWICE. SO WHEN THE ML FINDS OUT HE'S PISSED OFF AND THE MC DOESN'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND WHY GOD YOU PISS ME OFF SO MUCH. OBLIVIOUSNESS AND DENSENESS IS OK, I DON'T CARE, BUT OBSTUSENESS IS SO INFURIATING THE ML DESERVES BETTER RRAAAHHH

AND LIKE it was SO OBVIOUS that a f*cking BRICK could see that the ML wanted to come with you. The ML literally bought a couple costume to match yours, he also CAME to the soiree literally WENT to the waiting room to bring you a coat because THE MC FELT COLD!

The ML in this novel is cute l love him. He's a black cat tsundere type. He deserves way better than the emotionally inconsiderate MC.

Regardless, I have to say, this novel is quite short chapter wise, but the chapters themselves are pretty long so it's quite a bit of content.

The translation is good and reads easy.

Tldr: I hate the MC he's obstuse. The ML is cool I fwh.

I wrote this review in anger so I might be harsher than it deserves. <<less

Better than 3 stars but worse than 4. The story itself is not bad but it's missing something. The side characters are 2d and even the main characters are not really that deep.

MC is set up as a little liar and money grubber but his heart is super soft and he lacks an evil streak.

ML is the epitome of tsundere. Cold big guy on the outside but does everything for his wife.

I do not get how ML fell in love? It all has this backstory that he recognized MC as... more>> his white moonlight.... but they were children when they met and there was really nothing s*xual going on.... so... yeah... and MC feel in love because he got pampered with money and protection of a big tigh.

Well... nonetheless, I was entertained enough. So I would recommend this as an in-between, since it is on the short side. <<less

Only a demented author can write a completely useless and similarly demented MC.

For someone who came from such a poor background, instead of being resourceful and a street smart person, the way the MC fought back was so childish it was revolting!! He just poured wine against his tormentors without any back up plan as if his mentally challenged. What did he accomplished with his retaliation? Nothing!! It was just a plot device so he and the ML can have a moment. On top of that, the author was so... more>> lazy and did not even exert any effort to create a more realistic way to have him meet the ML the first time. Good read. At first I wasn't into the MC, Xia Xingchi, much and felt he was too money hungry. However, after I realized he was just dense, I started liking him. ML, Li Chengyuan, is the typical cold and domineering type. Both MC and ML have sad pasts.

Even though MC is an actor, the entertainment industry content isn't much... instead there is a good bit of netizen comments.

The plot is predictable based off the intro but there is twist. Reading this spoiler might ruin the reading experience since the... more>> author teases the reader with bits and pieces. The whole thing isn't revealed until almost the end.

MC was struck by lightning and died, transmigrating into ML's world. ML agrees to marry MC but according to the novel he was suppose to reject the marriage. ML had been searching for someone since he was 7 years old. ML believes MC is this person... even though the age is wrong.

It turns out that when MC was 10 years old, he had transmigrated to ML's world but didn't realize it. He met ML when his stepmom schemed to have him "runaway from home". MC took care of the sickly ML. However, on a rainy day when MC took ML's money to get medicine for ML, he was struck by lightning and went back to his world. MC woke up and forgot ML. ML waited and searched for MC but he was never found.

This was the big misunderstanding... it looked like MC had abandoned ML after he got all the money. Poor ML, living all those years thinking he was abandoned. : (

Comedic and fluffy novel!

Excellent translation. Really enjoyed reading it.

Very fluffy, not many challenges for the MC to overcome. The villains are very idiotic and evil and get their comeuppance pretty quickly without the MC needing to do much.

There's some overarching mysteries, some which are explained, and some which are not.

This is a good quick read for people who are looking for some mindless fluff and light entertainment.

My head hurts and I’m dizzy from all the nonsense. I initially liked the characters (and premise) but they remained flat and undeveloped, the jokes -what jokes?, the antagonists at least they did something not like our couple who were so self involved that nothing else existed but their drama. We have a ceo that faints at a stronger wind but still remains reckless with his health, a money grubber that is childish and temperamental and some jumbled thing about how they met but the MC doesn’t remember and the... more>> ML does. Of course MC is obtuse and refuses communication and they seem to just be waiting to be killed as they never heard of bodyguards especially after an attempted mu*der. Not quite a 4, which in my book is a re-read, but still a delightful and well-written read nonetheless. If you're more into slice-of-life/modern danmei than I am, this may be a 4 or 5 for you.
    • First of all, little shou hedgehog MC Xia Xingchi is so freaking funny and the face-slapping that follows him is SO satisfying!
    • His first meeting with ML Li Chengyuan still has me in stitches (>w<) ~~ this poor guy is not allowed the luxury of face or decency lmao
    • XX is the typical tsundere shou who shows his little hedgie spikes but of course secretly has a soft side and LC is your typical cool, cold young master tycoon but the story takes a good amount of time to dive into each of their backstories such that these characters get fleshed out enough for their chemistry and motivations to make sense
    • Legitimately, LC's childhood backstory made me tear up UnU
    • With XX's secretly doting ways, it's pretty easy to see how LC would fall for him and later you get

      but honestly with how LC treats him for a good half of the novel--not communicating, being controlling, shutting down emotionally especially when he's jealous--I found it harder to buy that XX would develop deep feelings as quickly as he does for his personal sickly piggy bank
    • I also found the reality TV show arc absurd but 1000% hilarious and so fun to read about, I did NOT see it coming
    • There's a cat named Summer and you can tell the author is a cat person because the descriptions of huffing that sweet, sweet kitty fur is completely accurate. I'm always gonna read when a cat is involved
I think overall there's great pacing and good character development; what I like to see is not just development within the context of the relationship but also individual growth and I think this novel, for the length it is, did that well.

I'm personally more biased towards books with more action/adventure plot beats and this one felt a bit too slice-of-lifey for me, but the humor and excellent characterization kept this from being a drag. May bump it up to a 4 eventually!

More like 3.5 but rounded up since the author kept it short. Just when I was really starting to get annoyed at the MC refusing to communicate the author started to wrap up the story.

MC, didn't really like or dislike him. He has his funny and fun moments, but I disklike how he treats the ML in the beginning, he is too hung up on the novel. Then he will realize things aren't what they seem, but then go back to being afraid of the "villain". I do like that... more>> he was more outspoken than most MCs in this type of novel.

ML was fine, but I was getting tired of him always being hurt or sick. It's like the author enjoyed tormenting the poor ML. I loved how he recognized his possessiveness was out of control and kept it reigned in.

Their romance is slow, but felt like there was progress with MCs feelings. Didn't get enough from ML's view though.

The entertainment part isn't a big part of the story, but I am okay with it. I hate when entertainment stories focus on the movie plot more than the actual story.

The people who deserved to get face slapped did. It was just a bit unfulfilling as there was no real conclusions about their endings.

The first extra isn't really an extra in my opinion, more of the actual last chapter. The 2nd extra wasn't my cup of tea.

All in all it was an easy and quick read. Translation was great, thank you translator. I may read again in the future. <<less

I have never seen brain dead fan comments prepared as much as in this one, for the sake of faceslapping. I wonder if fans like that really exist IRL.

... too many bloody scenes... Oh how I wish it was a cursed words in English.

Be ready to read exciting scenes. It's not a lot, but twice too many for such a short novel... (　；∀；) haha

... more>> This is not a Miracle kind of novel. But thank goodness it's not a Tragedy or Angsty either.

But it was definitely Hurt/Comfort kind of plot.

The story wasn't as Cheerful or Light as the Summary tried to paint it.

MC and ML able to survive in the end was because they're NOT an Idiot, and they do have desire to live. Okay, maybe ML's condition slightly different, but as long as MC wish for him, ML would give his best!

Anyway, beside those Heavy Exciting scenes, there's another good exciting moments!

While Considerate Gong ML is nice, sometimes I just want to read a Gong ML who can't hold back sometimes. I mean with how he expose his relationship with MC. He's being Subtle NOT Subtle and I LOVE IT!!! THAT WAS FUN!!! Love the Netizen's reactions. (ㅅ˙³˙) ♡

But MC's action doesn't lose either when he FINALLY announced Spectacularly and Absolutely Necessarily who the real Fiance is!

Seriously, this Novel was Truly Exciting for such a Short novel!!! Less than 50 chapters but every thing was Explosive!!! Soooo Good!!!

Just started reading it I think it's decent. The story is pretty much like in the description. It's a simple, no brainer story. A bit s*upid and lack of common sense but it's kinda funny ngl. Very cute. I like dumb MC so maybe that's why. ML is kinda creepy but I don't really mind that much maybe because I've read worse.

I don't really get the comedy, I can imagine that it would look fine if adapted, but the style of writing is incoherent and jumbled. Humor is too forced, like we have separated funny scenes and jokes and somebody tried to compilate them all in a novel regardless if it fits the story or not.

I won't say anything about the plot, because it was tiring to get an enjoyment from all the abrupt nonsensical things happening.

MC is a poor migrant worker who dies and transmigrates into a novel as (of course) a cannon fodder character being forced into a marriage for the benefit of his family's business. Knowing that if he follows the plot and flees the marriage he will come to a bad end, he instead decides to throw himself at his insanely wealthy marriage partner and milk it for all the money and benefits he can get before his fiance is killed off by the plot in a year's time. While the plot hinges on some misunderstandings, they're not cringy misunderstandings and actually make perfect sense (and they're not the sort that could be solved by communication without some specific things happening first).
