The moment the little tyrant of the nobles, Roel Ascart, saw his stepsister, he recalled his memories. He realized that he was in the world of a gal game he played in his previous life. To make things worse, he was the greatest villain in the common route of the game!

“I’ll be killed by the main character and the four capture targets ten years from now. Is there still any hope for me?”

Just thinking about the fearsome glints of those sharp swords those beautiful capture targets held in their hands, Roel couldn’t help but tremble in fear.

Till a voice finally sounded in his head.

Love it, one of the best novel ever, I really like the writing style, the plot, the characters, the direct time line (won't jump forward and backward and no random POV) , great harmony between plot, comedy, and romance, short but OP fights.

The only thing I don't like is that there are four last bosses : the savior, the mother goddess, the six desisters, the evil cultists, which is too much for one novel.

I saw the word system in the summary and was like OH NO, but turn out... more>> it not the cliche illogical system but just misinterpretation of The MC power.

Just like "My Deathflags" the MC possessed the villain which have the highest potential, he is kind, smart, and hard working.

About the ships there are four heroines, all of them are great but with different personalities, whose your favorite is up to your taste, three of them have there responsibilities, family, and honor to uphold except for a yandere and she is the " I have nothing to lose, the MC is my everything " kind of character, she is DANGEROUS.

I mostly enjoyed discovery of the MC power.

Overall a must read novel. <<less

Let me start this review off by saying I actually enjoyed my time reading this novel for the most part. Of course there are the typical clichés and mannerisms associated with this type of story, but if you were considering reading it in the first place that probably wouldn't bother you too much.

However there is one major disappointment contained within this story, and, unfortunately, it is too important to the story to ignore.

The Romance.

Now don't get me wrong, most harem stories have bad romances, but for the most part it... more>> is because they are boring and forgettable.

The romance in this story is excruciatingly bad and makes every character involved in it a thousand times worse.

It also effectively is the story. Despite what you might think from the tags, a disproportionate amount of time is spent on it, and it underlines every story beat.

It is impossible to ignore the romance of this story.

If the writer had any skill at writing romance this would be wonderful.

However he does not and the story suffers greatly from it. <<less

LTBE is one of my favorite novels on this site. Its a fun story with great characters and superb execution. However what I want to do with this review is set the correct expectations for any new readers. LTBE has so many tags and genres that they don't tell you anything about the story. I love LTBE, but its definitely not what I expected when I first decided to try it out.

LTBE is a character story, not an action story

90% of the time I want to keep reading... more>> LTBE to read more dialogue and character interactions, not see the MC fight a hyped up opponent. I think LTBE is one of the few novels that can actually have this premise and still be as enthralling to read as a great battle novel like Lord of the Mysteries or Second Coming of Gluttony.

I'll do a TLDR section with some chapter checkpoints that you can use to decide if you're interested in picking up LTBE.

Below that I'll write a full review for anyone who wants to hear what I think but I hope everyone will at least give LTBE a shot. I think many people will find it unique and enjoyable.

TLDR Section

Reasons you might enjoy reading LTBE:

    • Memorable, well-written Main Characters (Main Cast consists of the MC and multiple FMC's/Harem Members)
    • Has a intriguing Plot that will keep you hooked and wondering what will happen next
    • Funny writing that will keep you smiling/chuckling
Reasons you might drop LTBE:

    • Few battle scenes - the dialogue, character work, and plot mysteries drive this novel and most battle scenes take place in special mini-arcs that are very clearly different from the rest of the story. Battles are great when they do happen
    • Power System is vague and the story makes no attempt to flesh it out (as of Ch.263)
    • Slow start - the first chapters before more characters are introduced and the plot starts rolling can be off-putting. See chapter checkpoints below for the milestones I would recommend reading up to.
Chapter Milestones - Try reading up to these chapters if my descriptions pique your interest. Its ok if the story doesn't hook you at all but I hope everyone will at least try.
    • Ch.20 - First Great Character Introduction and memorable dialogue scene
    • Ch.45 - First serious battle scene (I know its a long wait but trust me its Great), first serious threat to MC, and the end of the Intro Arc
    • Ch. 100 - End of the first major Arc (this Arc and the Intro Arc kind of blend and its arguable that the first 100 chapters are all one Arc)
    • Ch.130 - Short Timeskip Occurs, Setup for the Second Major Arc, 3rd FMC Incoming
Hopefully this has made more people want to try out LTBE. I get not everyone will enjoy it but I hope people will at least try reading for a few dozen chapters to see what it has to offer before making a decision.

And if I haven't convinced you in the TLDR section, then maybe the next section will do the trick.

The In-Depth Review Analysis

LTBE's premise is cliche, MC is a side character in an Otome game and has a system to help him out. Thankfully the story throws out the cliche in its first chapters. The system is not giving any cheats out, in fact it doesn't do anything for free and the MC has to purchase things and use them in a smart way to get any use from it. The Otome game setting is a few years from starting, and the game's plot was so bad that it gives the MC next to no information about the future other than his character was suppose to die. In fact the main plot of the Otome does not seem to be related to LTBE's greater plot at all so far.

What the Otome setting knowledge does do is help introduce the Female Main Characters (Harem members, but don't tell them that because they all want a monopoly on the MC). With the Otome knowledge, the MC gets closer to the FMC's but the story still goes out of its way to give chapters in each FMC's point of view and gets their thoughts, backstory and opinions. These chapters do a lot to help us understand each of the FMC's and why each one becomes attracted to our MC and really endear each of them to the reader.

The focus on the Main Cast leaves little time for other characters and while some might criticize this I think its a good decision. The author has made the decision to write simpler supporting characters in exchanged for a more fleshed out Main Cast and I think it works well. Usually supporting characters are reoccurring and either help move the plot along or set up a funny scenario. None of them overstay their welcome or seem out of place, and they all come and go from the plot quite naturally after their role is done.

The MC is likeable. He takes initiative, is smart, and easy to root for. He is not super memorable but definitely a good character. He starts off really weak but gradually becomes stronger and is as strong as the top talents of his generation as of Ch.263. How he goes from here is unknown but so far he has been kept to a power level that allows the FMC's to be a part of his adventures and I hope that continues.

I'd say that you kind of have to enjoy the main cast to enjoy LTBE since so much of its best content is based around their interactions but the story telling and plot is also quite good. LTBE has lots of tropes and cliches you've seen before but it just executes them very well. Its quite clear when a new character is important and will fall for the MC but its a real testament to the author that I still enjoyed a journey whose outcome was never in doubt. LTBE is great at understanding when it has set the reader's expectations and then writing the story in such a way that getting to that point still feels fresh.

So far (as of Ch.263) the overarching plot has been focused on

Spoiler

the MC avoiding the original death flags from the Otome game by befriending the FMC's. But there have also been hints of an ancient threat that is connected to the MC that will appear again. This threat does not come from the Otome knowledge whatsoever. The MC has a special ability that allows the story to transition between the MC's time and the ancient past to learn more about the danger and lost history in general. Only at around Ch.250 has the MC begun actively working to find more about this danger in his modern time. He has also just entered the setting of the Otome game, which is an academy, and met the original main character of the Otome.

[collapse]

It all seems promising so far but I will have to wait and see if the author can turn the great potential into an actually great story.

Now lets talk about the action. I've said that battle scenes are rare in LTBE but don't take that to mean they're bad. In fact I feel that LTBE has some of the most intense battle sequences I've ever read because they are often tied to the characters. Action is rarely used in LTBE but when it is its often tied to a character dynamic or relationship. The battle is an extension of the character dynamic changing in some way or the plot advancing through the outcome of the battle. There is no mindless action in LTBE.

The power system exists and have different levels but there is no chapters dedicated to training. The MC actually just takes some potions from the system to level up rather than train like everyone else. His power doesn't even come from the normal power system but rather from special contracts that he makes due to his bloodline. The bloodline is another way to power up which some people have but I honestly don't understand it much.

The fact that after rereading LTBE for this review I still can't explain the power system or know its rules shows that its really more an afterthought in this novel. I would recommend not to think about it too much and just enjoy the battles without thinking about the mechanics at all.

Besides the character work, plot and action there are a few other things sprinkled in to LTBE that I should mention. Territory building is included and the main focus for a few chapters but is not a focus afterwards. There are hints of army-building but so far the forces recruited have been a letdown, spending 2 chapters to recruit forces hinted about 100 chapters earlier. It seems this army will continue to be improved as the MC has an army ability and is faction building in the latest arc but it remains to be seen if any of it will stick and become important in the story.

Conclusion:

As of Ch.263 LTBE has maintained a level of quality that is similar to some of my favorite novels on this site (LOTMysteries, SCGluttony, T9Heavens, DouluoDalu1, GMStrategist). It has done this while being a very different novel from all of them. LTBE has resonated with me for its characterization, dialogue, and clever writing and I hope that anybody who has made it to this point comes away willing to try it out. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Shoutout to the Translator for doing a great job with fast and consistent updates. <<less

The plot is basically a Uni dude reincarnated in a galge game as a villain, his main mission is to change his fate and avoiding his so called 'death flags' he does a lot of stuff like training, being more amicable to his family and step sis

Spoiler

which in the original plot kills him in cold-blood

[collapse]

and does a lot of good things for the sake of points as well which is funny because a lot of his actions tend to be misunderstoon by both parties

Spoiler

in order to escape his most serious 'death flag' he dotes his overly cute stepsister (which is undeniably adorable and I can't blame mc's doting and overprotectiveness) like doing things such as feeding her (cuz his little sister has a phobia for sharp objects such as cutlery) giving her alll sorts of sweets reading to her, helping her with her studies, he all does this with the intent of raking up points and clearing his death-flags while his surroundings all misunderstand his doting as him falling inlove with his step sis and resulting in him getting points from the maids/servants whenever he dotes on his sister which leave him quite perplexed.

[collapse]

his personality is quite good he is a responsible person, looks after his comrades, clever, mildy-dense (he is quite proactive and assertive in some situation the reason he doesn't wanna engage or be in a relationship is because of his mission lol, and anoyher reason is that the MC and his girls are quite young in ch270 he is still 14) hard-working and quite a gentleman (eventhough some reviewers think otherwise) . Roel the MC is not very overpowered in the beginning like he had basically no hopes in reaching Level 5 and awakening his bloodline, he desperately works hard and he lucks it out when he got some drugs from the system and greatly improving his results. Unlike some clichè op characters it takes him years to get to catch up to his peers, he gets into crazy situations and encounters near death experiences and lucks it out and uses his brain (unlike some jp beta males who get 'i feel a sudden surge in strength' bullshit) and the process feels real and justified and leaves you with a good aftertaste at the end of the incident

Spoiler

haha in one incident he basically used his life force to duke it out and leaves Charlotte no choice to kidnap him to her country for treatment, which in turn caused an international incident and nearly cuased discord between the two countries

the trial regarding this incident was hilarious

The world building is very vast and there are many mysteries surrounding the world

Spoiler

such as the Three Epoch's, bloodlines, The Twilight Sages, The Six Calamities, the mysteries surrounding the Ascart family (its origins, awakened patriarchs, connections, and its mission), Evil Cults

[collapse]

there are many things that are pointed out in the series and many ppl complained about it being too long and boring. Who cares. These little things can affect the overall progression and gives us a sense of mystery and anticipation for the future.

Spoiler

I like the time travelling arcs as it does a lot of stuff for the story it builds up the Mc's the skills and powers of his female harem members as well, his relationships with them makes great leaps whenever he time travels. Each time travel answers a bunch of questions such as things about his ancestors/important events in history and in turn leads to more questions and further delves into the mysteries of the world

[collapse]

-

I really like the girls involved in this story, they all feel genuine and have their own personalities and they all fight for Mc's attention and affection regardless of the methods and is really fun to watch then banter with each other and only get a sense unity if the MC is involved

Spoiler

Alicia Ascart - Mc's stepsis, loves has romantic feelings for the MC since she was a child, a very yandere character, she sneaks into mc's bed and casts deep sleep spells on him and basically kisses the MC to her hearts content, she is quite cunning and basicallu leads the MC by the nose by acting all cute and spoiled (this girl gives me the chills)

Noelle 'Nora' Xeclyde - Sadistic. Princess of the country. Very charming and beautiful, intelligent (a prodigy), she is quite caring towards people she treasures. In the original arc she becomes a bloodthirsty killer which likes to see her enemies suffer, but thanks to the Mc's efforts (albeit he is oblivious to it) she becomes a dere dere girl who wants to tease and embarrass Roel and on some ocassions, step on him.

Charlotte Sorofya - princess of the Rosa country. A lonely girl who wishes for a warm and happy family. She is a beautiful person, sweet, caring, smart, cunning. At first she disliked the MC due to the misunderstanding brought by Nora and Alicia and she rented the MC to hell her uncover the secrets of her bloodline (quite a long part)

Lilian Ackerman - Princess of the Austine Empire. A cold beauty, described as an apathetic person (due to family problems she had since she was a child), Mc's distant blood relative (they have the same blood but not related)

-

these are his harem members as of now (i heard there was a fifth member in the future ch's) the interactions between them and the MC is hilarious, the MC pitifully gets dragged into their arguments and it causes him massive headaches and ulcers hahaha but you can see that they love the MC very much and would not hesitate to put aside their personal differences when it comes to Roel's well-being

Its 4, 5/5

It was a very good novel with a well thought plot and character development. The interaction between MC And the harem is wholesome. But its such a shame that all this time, the MC has only kissed the harem (Not going all the way). So yeah, I really hope that theres gonna be R-15 or R-18 Later On.

I am reading the raw version of this novel, and I have to say this novel is amazing. Here are the reasons:

Spoiler

Our protagonist is Roel Ascart someone who once was a little tyrant, got sick then in his feverish dream, he remembered his previous life and the otome game he played which is the current world he lives in. Enter, our protagonist the previous life side villain of this game. So far, it is the same plot as other transmigration story with romance theme.

What makes this story so good, is that it combines romance and action adventure novel very well.

Our main protagonist is the descendant of the long lost Alder family which is the hidden guardian of the perished Ancient Austine Empire which managed to combine the whole human world under one leadership.

Our protagonist managed to use the system to awaken the bloodline legacy, which unlocked the Crown origin attribute for him. So far in the story, he is a peak level 4 in origin attribute.

Regarding romance there are currently 4 FLm which are as follow:

- Noelle which is the descendant of the angel (sadistic)

- Alicia which has the silverash 'perfect' bloodline

- Charlotte which has the loyalty origin attribute and is incredibly rich

- Lilian which is the MC's bloodline sister with the same power of creation that makes soldiers and generals of the austine empire

And a foreshadowing of the fifth one which is Wilhelmina (crossdressed as William)

And MC's power is so interesting and OP, he has 3 contract so far:

1. Grandar - undead king of the giant

2. Petra - mother of the holy beast

3. The little witch queen

Grandar is strong makes Roel able to fight people way higher than his level.

Petra is the world eating snake, similar to Jormugandr. Used in the form of hydra summoning.

And the little witch queen is the most OP one so far, everything that has a contradiction cannot win in front of the little witch queen, but the downside is that Roel cannot use her power freely due to some reason stated in the novel.

Roel also has 2 crown stones power so far which are the

Glacial touch from the egg of the world freezer

Wind of time from the sealed windcaller box

The first one is well as it said, ice that cannot melt, with side effect of chills after using his power.

The second one is so OP, it has something to do with time, so he can take away people's time, attacks cannot reach him, etc, because everything becomes nothing after enough time has passed, but the side effect is so scary, which is the time leak. Makes him leak time, turns him back younger and makes people who touched him become younger as well, however, it makes him cannot use any power.

Okay, first things first. The translation is 5/5, which means that I will be reviewing this Novel solely based on its own merits.

When I first read the synopses, I became interested in this novel because it sounded like a mixture of 2 novels that I like: My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending (RIP) and The World of Otome Games is Tough For Mobs.

The premise of the novel is very simple, this dude dies and reincarnates into a world of a certain gal game he played (The World of... more>> Otome Games is Tough For Mobs). The twist here is that he reincarnates as the villain that will die in the future due to being a POS (My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending). Unfortunately this lasts only about 20 chapters and then is promptly side lined.

The story starts fun enough, the MC enters the world and he gains two systems to help him prevent himself from dyeing, one is the Affection System Shop and the other is the Gold System Shop. The Affection Shop allows him to use his Affection Points to buy stuff in order to help him make money. The Gold Shop allows him to spend gold in order to buy stuff that helps him improve.

The first girl he meets (Alicia) was one of the heroines inside the game that causes his Death (in the first Study Arc). She was adopted by his father and the game Roel makes her life a living hell, even selling her off in order to gain advantages. Now, standard Harem Novel logic applies, all girls are always incredible beauties.

So, in order to ascertain that Alicia won't kill him in the future, he starts doting on her. For a certain reason, Alicia has a phobia of cutlery, so she finds it hard to eat. He already knows this and uses this knowledge to get closer to her. Standard Novel logic leap happens and they become close. As they become close, he gains Affection Points from her.

Excited by the prospect of gaining Affection Points, he opens up his Shop and buys the second thing he sees (the first one was a useless umbrella). This happens to be a group of skeletons that carry a casket. He, at first, believes he could use those skeletons for battle, but soon finds out that they can only carry a casket (Dancing Pallbearers), they have no combat abilities and if they get too far from it, they become weaker than a child.

He eventually finds a good use for them, by using them like a donkey inside a mill. That way, he can make some small change by being a tax collector for his father and affection by the farmers that won't have to do it themselves.

Up to this point it's excellent. It clearly sets the tone for the story. MC has to evade his Death Flags, has to gain Affection Points and then use them to make Money. Unfortunately this quickly goes down the drain. The author seems to just forget the setting and devolves itself to a very, VERY standard Harem Novel, except that the girls are 7 years old and 10 years old (yet act like h**ny women). The MC himself said that, because of his lack of hormones, he never felt sexually excited by them. Except that he does, quite a bit. The power system is dumb and full of logic flaws. He was supposed to become stronger using the Gold Shop, because the MC was an F- Tier character. Except that he unlocks a Bloodline that makes him S+ Tier (so what's the point of the Gold Shop?). You see, I'm 128 chapters in. He used the Affection Shop twice and the Gold Shop trice. Making money? He only did that once. Actively farming Affection Points? Only in the first 20 or so chapters.

Bottom line is, I feel this novel was a bait and switch. Showed me a very interesting premise and the swapped to very standard Harem Shonen Novel, except with a bunch of pre-teen kids.

Over all, I say that this Novel is not bad, but it's nothing that great either. I stopped at Chapter 128 and I don't plan on reading any further. There are better Harem Novels out there, if I wanted to read that. <<less

Edit2: Yeaaaah. It's getting harder to ignore how pedo-ish the author is. I tried but in the following chapters I read it's quite creepy. 10year old being "sexy" and "seductive" is not okay for me. Also when I looked back, I already read 60-ish chapters and I feel like while theres a lot I read the world is still empty, idk how to explain. The translator is good tho. Hope he/she translate another novel in the future.

For the beginning of the novel, it's pretty standard. MC reincarnates as a rich noble son who was a minor villain in a game. Nothing unusual yet. Then when you move past the common tropes, you find the real meat of this story. The characters. They're filled with life and emotion, and I don't think I've found anything else like this that just hit all the same highs. The pacing is on point, the romance isn't forced (technically debatable for some instances. *glares at a certain royal*), and the MC... more>> is actually kind for once. He isn't extremely clever or smart like I'd like, but I'll leave that for later. He also has a human side, and his real brilliance relies on his understanding of others (Empathy for the WIN!).

The motivations of the characters are wonderful. The MC is heavily influenced by his young body, and hence is s*upid, but he still accomplishes what he sets out to do, albeit through unconventional means. He uses his empathy as a tool to improve with (via his system), and I love how it's used throughout the story in several different ways. As of c109, the story has laid down so many interesting future plot-points for the reader to pick up on, and it's gotten me hooked. The author had his work cut out for him, and he delivered in spades! (As did the translator and editor! Huge props to them for translating this awesome novel!)

(This part of the review is written as of c109 when the main cast are children, so take this in the future with a grain or ten of salt)

This novel relies a lot on the age of the main cast. They're all children, and like children, are s*upid at times. But they're also absolutely brilliant. They're written as human, having flaws and goals that aren't completely known to even them, but they're also too young as of yet to have any real responsibility when they make small mistakes. This allows the author to create 'realistic' scenarios that would never fly with adults (
Spoiler

like the bullying of Alicia

[collapse]
), and it shows the genius of the characters in social situations without harming the believability. This doesn't stop the plot from having any action or weight to it though; instead, the plot becomes that much more exciting when the characters all have the same advantages.

The MC is reincarnated as a 10-year-old child, and his immature body greatly affects him, as is clearly said and shown dozens of times in the story. He doesn't have the reasoning capacity of a full-grown adult yet, nor does he have the hormones of one either (He's not dense, he's just above depravity). He is a child, and this allows the author to give him a major handicap against his mentally younger companions (not that they really need it). He can't reason perfectly, but his cleverness and adaptability allow him to overcome the difficulties placed in front of him.

For anyone thinking of picking this up, I'd love for you to join the shipping-wars and insane theorizers in the comments (*Insert shameless promotion for the Voluntary Celibates here*). Just try to be patient through the dumb mistakes the MC makes. He redeems himself! Somewhat... Wait, has he actually done anything smart yet!? Come on! <<less

compared to other ''got transfered to a galge/otome game'' this one doesn't stick to avoiding death flags by not meeting the heroines, instead it does the opositte the MC activily meets them so he could befriend (more like seduce) them so he can avoid the deathy flags, oh and the system is way better plotwise than in those standard CN novels

Really just a solid story in almost all aspects. Reads kind of like a Japanese Isekai where the MC might actually break free from being a JP Main character.

The system setup, however, is not my favorite.

Edit: It absolutely gets weaker as the chapters go on. If it's 5 star for the first ~200 chapters, by chapter 500 it's sitting at 3.5

If you like bakarina then you will probably like this too. But unlike bakarina this is a cn Web novel so expect the MC to get power up stuff from deus ex machina beings. Literally.

However unlike cn novel, the power level is not OP. It kind of works like equivalent exchange. The more powerful technique you use, the more compensation you pay. Kinda work since MC saves the day trope, but due to the compensations, female leads has to take care of him. Making the female leads shine... more>> with their personalities.

Also female lead (s) slowly turning to yandere-is is fun to read. <<less

The Novel is heartwarming with a bit of comedy.... The MC has a good character and isn't useless and tries to improve himself despite his weakness... The female lead has character development.. Overall it's a fun-to-read novel.

Ah and the translation is quite good and easy to read. and the translator updates daily and does some challenges and rewards them with extra chapters

It's been a fun read so far. I was worried it would be like some of the other Chinese Web Novels where the MC would become insufferable over time, but so far he's been alright. The interactions with the known heroines of the galge have also been entertaining to read through.

I'll probably edit this once more chapters are out, but I wanna say that I really do appreciate with how consistent the Translator is with the updates and also Alicia is best girl.

Good job, author. You manage to almost make me forget that this novel is produced in the land of Kung Flu and MGA... That is the highest compliment I can give to anything with a CN tag. Yes, I hate China, and yes, I am giving this a five stars, which speaks highly of its credit.

The key success of the Author is tying the Harem to only 4 characters and properly building them up. Each girl wasn't forgotten on the sidelines. The male lead wasn't grating, and you can see... more>> that there is no Grimdark bullsh*t that can act as a major turnoff. The system is an annoying tag, but it is well implemented here, so I will generally let it slide. The power system is okay and unique, which says a lot about the current tr*sh flooding the market.

For once, I actually care about the girls (Charlotte and Lillian). I am pleasantly surprised that the side character is actually competent (yes; the Grandpa is Sigma material that cannot be disputed)

Among all the CN novel, this one is cut above the rest. Highly recommend it, despite the cursed land-mass it originated from.

I will give it the credit it deserves.

Edit: Now I have finished the novel Eng translation, and it kept the quality up until the end. I can confidently say that one is seriously among the best on this site. Moreover, the Author is surely a fellow Fate fans and I need to support my fellow comrades... thus Sloth recommend this one. <<less

Probably one of the better slow burn novels. I don't think I can add more than what the translator already did in their review, but I do agree that the segments where it feels like the story is being "dragged" are necessary to understand things that happen later on. Also Charlotte is best girl and I won't hear otherwise.

The world building is top notch, but God, how I hate the harem.

Every single FL (at least until the point I read) already was, or becomes a creepy, obsessive stalker.

The relationship dynamics feel r*pe-y and pe*ophiliac-ish.

Even with the author saying that at 14 they are fully mature, it's super weird and creepy how s*xual they are. And the last straw was when he suffered the side effects of the second crown stone.

Spoiler

He turned into an eight year old and the Ack-girl was practically drooling. WTF

[collapse]

I feel 3 stars are more than it deserves, but I really liked the world building, the time travels and all those history snipets, so 3 stars it is. <<less

An amazing novel for the first 130 chapters and then the author decided he wanted you to hate every single character and tanked the entire story. I tried giving a few more chapters to see if they resolved the issues but it only got worse so I had to drop it around 143. I really wish it hadn't become what it did alas it did. The MC as far as I can tell only serves to be a doormat for the female leads to walk all over and the females... more>> leads become worse and worse people as the story goes on. Eventually the female leads actions are entirely dictated by their own selfish desires and hardly even treat the MC as a human. <<less

This was a solid 5 for the first 100 chapters, reduced to 4.5 when Nora was introduced, and It was a steady decline after that. The translation is great, as expected for StarveCleric.

This was definitely a good read, and you'll probably enjoy it too. There are just certain aspects that slowly grind my gears, and forced me to drop the novel. No it's not the harem, because that's expected from an Otome game. It's the author's fervent disregard to the characters' ages. The more I read, the more erot*c the... more>> fluffy scenes are. It was so freaking uncomfortable to read, there was even a scene where the MC reverted to his 5 yo form, and one of his Harem who's older than him already, kidnapped and passionately kiss him. I'm just... Nope, not for me.

Seriously, what's so wrong about a 5 yr time skip, where the characters are at their f*ckable age already? Is that too hard for these authors? <<less
