Wow didn't expect this gem. Sending blades to author for making this reader cry QAQ.

The story revolved around MC and ML's

relationship and the death of mc's sis. Despite the cookie cutter persona, the character grows wonderfully and the plot is so beautiful. Dog food and dog blood scattered wonderfully. It's like a beautifully written kdrama lol.

  • marital raep and s*xual harassment jokes. Yeah they're married and they're verbally hurting (but in a joking way) each other. And it's not heavily mentioned but some people might be sensitive about it.
  • Mentions of raep (not MC, you could say ML r*ped MC but I feel it's more like dubcon with ML and before y'all throwing pitchforks to ML, no it's not his fault either). ML was drugged accidentally I assumed, and MC was also drugged.
    I think MC was to be raeped by someone else and become a s*ave/plaything but somehow ML got dragged (MTL so I wasn't clear how exactly they both ended up together but I guessed they're at a party, argued heavily, kissed and done the deed under the drug influence)

The personality of ML is a cookie cutter. He's handsome, tall arrogant, dominant, and a good cook. Thankfully he's not an insufferable a**hole. He generally left MC alone but always there when MC needs him. He's like an insufferable white knight (bcz MC "hated" him lol). He's actually a sweet gentleman.

MC is a good actor, handsome, have good figure. He's stubborn, and pushed people who love him because he's hellbent on avenging his dead sister. He's cute and sometimes can be seen as reckless. He's like a cute little porcupine. His backstory is so freakin sad : (

The villains are a bit 2D but the BOSS villains have amazing depth to them. The plot was kinda easy to guess but extremely enjoyable. Recommend. <<less

This one is really interesting. A satisfying novel to read! I thought it was all fluff love between MC and ML, but the story revolves around the tragic death of MC's sister, making the story heavy. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR READERS WHO DISLIKE PSYCHOLOGICAL, r*pe, Prostitution, TRAGEDY AND SM (life of side chara). This is Happy ending anyway. Don't worry since there are a lot of sweet moments between MC and ML. Characters with tragic life (their childhood/teens are really tragic), and spoiler of their endings [Happy Ending (HE) or Bad Ending (BE) ]..

These high people were also involved in human trafficking, drugs, arm dealers, prostitution. The MC is really helpless and the ML is not so OP. ML's family has power but against several people who have power (in politics and business), it's not enough.

this novel seems a battle of 2nd generation power so some of them are a not thinking whereas some are deep minded

The MC he is slightly smart. He has lapses in which he sometimes couldn't perceive much the consequences of his actions/plans. Although the ML is a notable company president, he is not the usual overbearing one. Instead, he pursues and pampers the MC.

I dislike the lack of revenge process though, some of the antagonists didn't suffer much. IF I WERE THE AUTHOR I WOULD SKIN THEM ALIVE. No twist on the main culprit, only on those side villains.

The "comedy" category and the summary are SO MISLEADING!! I'd scratch the comedy the f out, since I haven't seen comedy yet. ALthough I'm in the middle of the story, but my impression is very favorable. If it continues like that, then it'll really stay a great thriller BL book.

This story falls more into category of thriller and drama, very mature work because of the TW themes, such as gang r*pe, su*cide, mu*der, psychological burdens etc.

The storyline actually has similar parts to a manhwa titled "The beast must die", the... more>> first part of which explains a story of a younger brother who wants to enter the inner circle of a closed club, which was responsible for his older sister gang r*pe which later led her to su*cide. But that's the only similarity, the rest is very different, because of ML.

Although ML comes to appreciate MC, although they started from the wrong foot, but unlike many stories of very powerful people, ML's situation here is more down to earth. He's indeed preson with status and wealth, but not that type of mythical power to move everyone at the snap of their fingers. Here it's more of a psychological warfare between someone with righteous heart and desperate desire to avenge and a circle of people who are too drunk on their own status.

Thus this story is pretty different on the background of many others I've read so far. And I definitely recommend people to try if they're attrackted to this type of story.

PS: I might go back and edit this "review" when I finish reading, but so far can't help but express my opinion on this rare gem. <<less

This is one of the bl which has dark theme but not that dark, its just your not usual fluffy bl. You'll sympathize with both our MC and ML with the sufferings they went thru esp mc's family.

Nevertheless the ML never stopped showing how much he loves mc

Personally, and probably the only one that found it boring. Was intrigued with the avenging sister's death plot but the whole tug of war between the MC and ML was just not my cup of tea... Sometimes I feel like their characters are all over the place and it's probably just me. I think i'd like it more if there was more communication to remove some of these pointless misunderstandings, or if MC stops trying to one-up the ML by constantly using his fears to his advantage. I'm being petty... more>> but I just can't really like the MC. Maybe I'll try again when I refresh what I've read in the future. <<less

This is really a good story with a very deep tragidic plot. But the relationship between MC and ML is best. I liked it.

didnt expect to get so horribly attached to both the leads and invested in mc's backstory. I love MC and ml's slow burn and their interactions. Author is putting these two frogs in simmering water. My thoughts are a bit scattered since I stayed up all night reading this, but its definitely a hidden gem. Worth seeing the sun rise and realizing its 9am.

The emotional connection is really twisted.

It's quite draining to read, and there are no really satisfying points to offset the incredible amount of conflict that the story is working.

There is conflict in the romance, conflict with the family, conflict with career, conflict with friends.

Where is the sweetness????

There really is no good motivation to keep reading.

If I wanted tension and suffering, I would have read the news.

THIS IS NOT A FLUFFY PEICE.

It's a good read but from what's been happening so far, it feels like a story I should wait for the completion of before continuing.

The main plot heavily involves the investigation of what had happened to someone dear and close to the MC. Bits and pieces are revealed as the story progresses but the things we learn are... pretty dark. I personally would have a hard time keeping up with this story chapter by chapter because I need the catharsis of the culprits of that year to be held responsible... more>> for what they did as soon as possible.

The author wrote MC's almost helpless struggle so well as he fights to give that person justice. But it's because it's so well written that it's affecting me personally and I find that it's difficult to endure it (the knowledge of what happened and the lack of progress in finding and dealing with the culprits) in real time as I wait for the progression of the translation. It's just a very harrowing experience if you can grasp what happened to that person.

To be clear, there are definitely fluffy and silly moments in this story, but it is certainly not a light-hearted novel. <<less

i love this novel so much. This has been my all time comfort novel that I keep finding myself coming back to every year since the translations were uploaded. While the prompt seems juvenile and comedic, the relationship that blossoms from the initial misunderstanding to genuine supportive love is beautiful. I found myself emotional reading about Ye NanQi's family and his sister. Though I initially came for the romance, the mystery and psychological complexities of the plot around Ye NanQi's sister kept me intrigued. Ye NanQi's circumstances were heartbreaking to read, however, his strong resilience and desire for justice made him one of my all-time favorite characters. Also Ye NanQi slowly opening himself up and showing his vulnerabilities to Shen Du was so heartwarming.

If you want to read about a confident, intelligent and independent MC and a ML that worships the ground he walks on, this book is for you!

if you want a gong that is super loyal, supportive, protective, in love and cute then Shen Du what you're looking for.

i found myself constantly re-reading the scenes of Shen Du cooking for Ye NanQi and the progression of their relationship from 'love rivals' to understanding eachother and eventually devoted lovers. Also Shen Du eating vinegar and finding ways to spend more time with Ye NanQi!!! ☺️🥰😽 The fluffy romance was what I needed to keep going through the dark themes of the plot

the white moonlight that both Ye NanQi and Shen Du fought over, already has a partner and is rarely mentioned in the story. The reason Ye NanQi liked him was because he reminded him of his sister and wanted to protect him. The reason Shen Du "liked" wm was because he was in denial of his feelings for Ye NanQi and was subconsciously attracted to wm because he looks like Ye NanQi. The conflict between Shen Du realizing his feelings and being conflicted between Ye NanQi and the white moonlight are quickly resolved and they actually communicate!!! To reiterate, both the MC and ML are very mature and actually communicate their feelings!

I really love this! I'm not a fan of misunderstandings and slow progressing drama but this was great. The mystery and the relationship between MC and ML really kept me interested the whole way through.

I loved the way they interact with each other and wasn't bothered by the their love-rival status at all (it's basically non-existent even). The depth of the storyline and the way the whole thing unfolds was great!

Definitely an amazing read, even if you're not fond of love-rival statuses, kind of slow romance and misunderstandings (it's not... more>> annoying misunderstandings, the ML can tell that the MC is hiding something very early on and he's super supportive!!!) <<less

Although it's a side couple, but the character depth and I'm interested. Xue Xiangyu has a pretty dark backstory too (just like the MC). His mother was r*ped by her father-in-law and had him and then he was locked in a mansion with his mother and a maid by his father. While the MC had a loving family, Xue Xiangyu was hated since the day he was born by his own family (even though, it wasn't his fault). When his birthday, his mother always locked him in a room. His family always look at him in disgust and hate. He also target of bully in the family. I think the one that left him more trauma was when his mother tied him to a chair and asked him to recorded his mother suic*de. He never being a danger to the MC, so I never hate him. In fact, now I'm kinda pity him. Surely, he didn't asked to be born in that environment. I wonder how his relationship with Zhang Ming would grow. How he would react if Zhang Ming brought him gift for his birthday (he received once, but it left a bad memories for him since it was gift from his father). How Zhang Ming respon to know about his past or maybe when he sees Xue Xiangyu trauma triggered and etc. Too bad they only got 3 chapter.

While this isn't too bad, it's not that good either. I wish the plot was stronger and better built. Some characters are portrayed to be too shallow, and some events are just illogical and I couldn't bring myself to believe it. I reached a point where I started dragging myself to keep reading it, but I found that there's really nothing special to keep me going.

This isn't the comedic fluff that the summary promised to me. (⁠・⁠_⁠・⁠;⁠)

Be prepared for dark and heavy themes. It's quite nauseating especially if you weren't expecting it. I honestly couldn't enjoy the romance that much because I kept thinking about their enemies.

It was still nice though. MC can be suffocating but it's all a given because of what his family had gone through. I'm glad that the author took the time to let him learn to open up and rely on people. There was also a part where he... more>> had to confirm first whether his feelings for the ML are just dependence and gratitude, or real love. That's something frequently glossed over in other novels but it's a real thing that happens in relationships.

My biggest gripe is that none of the translator sites had working Prev/Next buttons specific for the novel. <<less

Great story *:゜☆ヽ (*'∀'*) /☆゜:。*。 There's actually less blades than expected - it just more on the tragic pasts of the characters. Love the MC and ML's interaction. I'm not sure why there's heaps of low reviews but for me, it's definitely worth the read. Kudos to the translator for translating a great story. (￣▽￣) ゞ I also agree with the previous reviewer who said that the scums were not punished enough. I would love them to have more tragic ending.

I love the story, never had I thought I'd feel attached to the MC like this. Umm story is great MC is so cute and stubborn and ML is so gentle and kind.

Their interactions are super sweet and funny, I was kind of waiting for drama between them but the route they took is nice as well. Misunderstandings exist but it's usually resolved quickly.

The plot itself is riveting but there's explicit mentions of r*pe, su*cide generally, if these aren't topics you can handle then ahh be careful.

idk how to say it but the permanency of the character? Like if it wasn't mentioned I'd have forgotten some parts about the characters? Like it's a touch-and-go for certain things such as their love rivalry. What I mean is repeatedly the author has to remind us instead of us being reminded by the characters itself.
