Mrs. Xi, a prominent local businesswoman, sponsored a young girl out of boredom and kindly allowed her to reside at the Xi family home. Unexpectedly, the girl, hailing from an impoverished background, developed an interest in Mrs. Xi’s son. Mrs. Xi now finds herself regretting her decision.

Meanwhile, the young girl, Zhou Xiu, who emerged from a rural upbringing, was advised by her parents to cultivate favorable relations with the Xi family and, if possible, forge a bond with young Mr. Xi. Upon moving into the opulent Xi household, Zhou Xiu, who never spent more than 20 yuan on a single garment, was exposed to the lavish lifestyle of the wealthy and began to succumb to the lure of money.

Fortuitously, Zhou Xiu stumbled upon a learning system that could enable her to prosper financially without reliance on a man.

With the prospect of becoming rich through diligent study, Zhou Xiu embraced the learning system wholeheartedly, eventually unlocking rewards for successfully tackling complex mathematical problems, excelling on English tests, and earning bonuses for entering the competition class.

Meanwhile, the students at Yu De High School, initially assuming Zhou Xiu was attempting to secure a wealthy partner, were surprised to learn that she was genuinely committed to studying and improving her life.

This light-hearted work is characterized by the theme of self-improvement and celebrates the notion that through hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn, individuals can achieve personal and financial success.

TLDR: I love the premise of the story but the writing is very meh so a 3 star rating for now.

Premise: The Main Character, is a poor country girl that was about to be sold as a child bride. Instead of this fate she gets taken in a by a wealthy woman in the city (the story is not clear on why this happens). Her first night in the wealthy woman's home she bonds with a system that pays her for studying,

Why the writing is MEH: The three major... more>> characters, the wealthy woman, her son, and the MC have no hook. The wealthy family is just there, and the MC is little more than cardboard. What's more the writing itself is unengaging.

Bottom Line: The study system is shouldering all the weight for this book <<less

The main story by itself is about MC who after being sponsered by a rich woman to come to the city to study, gains a system along with a dream of her projected future where she ruins herself by falling in love with said rich woman's son. Luckily, the learning system is here to help by giving money rewards for learning.

The story focuses very much on hard work and MC'S struggle against very systematic prejudices surrounding poverty. The poverty trap is very real and many people don't have access to... more>> systems or rich kind classmates willing to help. Even then, people have their pride and money can't always be borrowed or freely taken.

MC embodies all that and wants to be financially independent. She's very lucky but she works equally hard. I like the system alot because it genuinely feels like it wants to be helpful within it's limitations and improve MC's life. Side characters are pretty lovable and also have some growth.

Romance is very sparse and never gets properly resolved in the main story. After all, MC loves learning and money more than any guy. The most likely ML candidate is kinda annoying but I got used to him.

The novel isn't perfect, there's quite a bit of loose ends in the main story including the mystery of ML and MC past but it's a satisfying read if you enjoy learning type school stories.

Might edit if I ever read the extras which hopefully tie up loose ends. <<less

It's an alright story with so-so plot and romance, at one point I almost forget that the MC is the main focus not the system.
However, I still read the entire novel because I really like this kind of stories which focuses on a girl's priorities that's to build oneself, strong ambition, love money that was earned by herself and self-respect. Rather than focusing on boys and vanities, yet the author still has mentioned beauty based concept here and there, which is good as self-care is important anyways. What dissatisfied me is it's open ending which left me with too many questions. Especially regarding her family.
Similarly, kudos to the translator as they're doing a very good job with this story. Because, even with the average plot the author has done very well by sending good messages and morals throughout the story.
I do recommend for everyone to give it a shot even if it's not your cup of tea or might decided to read it till halfway it will still refresh you out.

I also mtl-ed the series until ch 174. Not sure if that was the actual ending or not since I could not find anymore chapters.

Overall the novel was an enjoyable light read. MC is a little Mary Sue but very hardworking. Shout-out to class 24. The relationship between the MC and her classmates was cute.

If ch 174 was really the ending, it leaves me wanting more.

Spoiler

Ending was very open ended and considering the romance tag I feel a little unsatisfied.

Three starts for me since I could only last through chapter 39 as it's only translated up to chapter 9 and I was reading the MTL version. I did jump to the later chapters and read through the last chapter of the main story, I think there should be a few extra chapters?

I like genre -- school life, slice of life, and competition with a bit of cooking thrown in the earlier chapters. Unfortunately, there were a lot of plot holes and at the end, there were introduced characters that... more>> were just abandoned without providing closure to them. The story read like it was some kind of a government or Ministry of Education sponsored story -- "Focus on education, don't get side-track. Education and knowledge is your friend!" ^^ <<less

It is well written, but only mildly interesting unless the reader is a Chinese high schooler themselves. The FL who is a poor mountain girl with average school performance gets a chance to live in a rich city family and study in the best school.

Spoiler

She has a glimpse into her future, one possible life plan, where her dad has brain cancer and needs expensive treatment, so the FL attempted to pursue the rich family's son as her means to obtain money for her dad's treatment with disastrous results. Her dad gets no treatment. She is expulsed from the rich family (they were sponsoring her city schooling out of charity) and is married away to some old village man.

So, instead, in the story she makes money by performing well in her studies, winning contests, national level math Olympiads etc. The learning system rewards her with money for her good performance. A few dollars here and there. Literally 5-10 bucks. Money that she needs to buy herself something to eat or to pay bus fare. She also motivates and inspires other students to study, including that young rich boy.

Basically, the novelist discourages puppy love right from the start and sings praises to other beauties of youthful life: friendship, camaraderie, fun, using your growing and developing brain to learn while you can, to absorb the cultural treasuries of your nation (poetry, etc.), enjoying student-teacher two way guidance, and yes, making money and being independently wealthy even when you are a teenager. Even when you are a female teen.

And, by the way, the FL's sick dad never needed that money for his treatment. He was cured by the advanced technologies from the future.

I mtl-ed the entire series. The mtl version I read was till 174 chapters. This is the best story that I have read till now in this genre although the story is very predictable because:

atleast in this story the MC concentrates on her goal and perseveres to achieve it till the end than falling in love and becoming s*upid in love

[collapse]

This is just like all other story of this genre concentrates on learning and all round development of MC. The best thing is there is no direct unnecessary confrontation and face slapping it's more into action speaks louder than words philosophy.

Spoiler

The series ends atleast till where I have read has open ended ending. It definitely shows the glimpse of MC's future career but for the rest cases it's open ended and the ending infact was bit rushed especially when you can see lots of chapters for biology competition but just two chapters for maths. Many characters and stories were left unsaid which is kinda sad. I'm just glad the author didn't make it too dramatic. It's not the best story when compared with other genre but when you want to just feel motivated for studying I think this is a good choice as it purely concentrates on MC's academics plus it sort of gives the message right kind of hard work pays of in the end. I felt glad that she chose not to do anything with her birth family. But since the author just added it in between last few chapters and it just came and went, I don't know why even bring up the topic! Anyway a good read
