An interesting take on the Quick Transmigration genre. There's a proper underlying plot/mystery, I enjoyed the horror thrill and the heroine is strong and has sense. Surprisingly takes itself more seriously than I thought it would, so if you're expecting something like the summary (though there are some moments) prepare to be disappointed.

Also a very solid read in machine translate for anyone interested.

Pros:

    • Unique take on QT genre.
    • Interesting underlying plot and good mystery. I am on a reading high after just finishing the book but there aren't any gaping plot holes or logic popping out at me at the moment...?
    • Strong and smart female lead who largely depends on herself rather than the male lead.
    • Though not expressed too in detail, FMC and story is grounded both in the horror worlds and the real world.
    • Also not explored too deeply, FMC has capable allies and relies on them when she needs to.
Cons (more like minor gripes) :

    • I can't say author went too in detail about the other characters and often glossed over the long amounts of time FMC spent cultivating relationships with them, so they feel a bit hollow. Same goes for antagonists.
    • A few timeskips here and there for brevity's sake. Not too major, but details rather than summaries would have been nice sometimes.
    • Romance department severely lacking ;u; No Doki Doki moments. Honestly I felt the relationship between her and the system were much better developed at the end. The romance could've been left out altogether and nothing would've changed-- it was that unimportant.
    • Ending was a bit abrupt, a bit in the air. Would have preferred a TEENSY bit more closure but that's just me ;-;
Anyway, very good read for me. Found myself reading late into the night during the horror parts and got a bit nervous, but was too invested in the story so I kept reading anyway lol

I really enjoyed the story so I hope others will too!

Some spoilers below for those interested.

Male lead's identity

Spoiler

Gu Buchao. But as stated before, romance is really not a big thing in this story.

[collapse]

More detailed summary:

Spoiler

Bai Ruan is initially bonded to a White Lotus system and has been doing tasks to gain points so she can convert them into money and pay hospital bills and such. When her system runs out of worlds to send her to, it connects to an escape game system's worlds and Bai Ruan has to play through the escape games with her white lotus system.

Going through a series of worlds, she begins noticing minor but interconnected details between them and decides to investigate them further.

Who is Du Wenwen? Why does his name appear everywhere? What are ghosts?

And just what exactly is this "escape game"?

[collapse]

The big bad to defeat in the end:

Spoiler

The escape game system itself.

All the elements that tie up the story, are very carefully created and unique in their own sense. As a system administrator novel will game elements, where you should 'survive' in the game to 'be alive' in the real world, honestly this story is also worth a shot.

White Lotus Protagonist :

Spoiler

The protagonist is a white lotus just because of the existence of the 'White Lotus System'.

MC is a kickass, her personality is fun and she is very very hardworking. She can adapt to her surroundings very quickly and has a knack for finding clues. And her inner monologues that occur are very hilarious.

She is considered 'OP' but in the sense that she can understand people's intentions, physical strength, and powerful senses.

[collapse]

Ending :

Spoiler

She saves peoples, inherits her paternal grandparents' property, and has a "normal life" with her husband, the ML, and their 5-year-old daughter.

The ending with Han Qiuwen... I actually teared up a little. All the arcs were connected in such a way, it was confusing. But once I read the ending, it just suddenly occurred to me, and everything finally made sense. Even the mystery with the Ship's Owner.

[collapse]

Read the whole story in a day, with the help of MTL. All arcs were fantastically carved with so much mystery and thrill, it made my blood boil. Will recommend this novel to anyone who can read, listen or see. I wish this author the best in their life, and I hope that they overcome any obstacles, and continue publishing more works.

  • I would also like to appreciate the TLs for working on this novel and showing its great potential through their work. Good job, everyone!

I hope someone picks this back up, its a hilarious take on the quick transmig/survival game genre. The FL/MC is great and watching her try to pretend to be a white lotus makes me laugh every time.

The novel is interesting, although I suggest you look for another novel if you want romance.

Spoiler

The main characters don't really interact after the first game and there is no romantic thoughts except towards the end.

[collapse]

The White Lotus system is an unique idea, although it doesn't affect the character much.

Spoiler

It is only really a way to get more clues and only had one or two tasks in the beginning.

[collapse]

Overall, it was a nice causal read (though it was somewhat bland).

Spoiler

However I think they shouldn't have had such a cliche ending and conspiracies.

What is wrong with this novel is that the author does all the explaining. Don't they say, don't explain, rather show. This author doesn't do that. With one clue which the author pulls out from her ass, MC explains several paragraphs and always manages to arrive at the true conclusion. There actually isn't any feeling of mystery. It maybe because I've read extremely good mystery novels, this one was too bland. There was a monster outside the window but rather than feeling scared, what I felt was nothing. Even when... more>> the monster killed a woman right next to the MC, I felt nothing. Basically, the author doesn't know how to create an eerie scene or a feeling of anticipation about what is about to happen next. The novel was just too bland to put into words.

The novel is also written like a summary. All the important parts are glossed over. A certain thing is true because MC comes into that conclusion. The book just explains MC's logical thinking, but it's actually not logical at all and rather a convenient one to support the plot. Anyways, there are better novels out there than this one.

On a side note, the translation quality is above average. In fact, one of the best translations out there. <<less

Plot 100 stars. From my personal feelings full 5 stars.

But to be more subjective

Writing Quality - 4 stars (well it wasn't bad)

Story Development - 100000000 stars

Character Design - 3 stars (pushing it a bit)

World Background - 3 stars (since it takes place in Modern day society not much is actually spent on that so)

  • Very very carefully thought out, unique plot. The MC has reasons for being op, but also does not entirely seems so. The ending is a bit mild, and gives me mixed feelings, but it is good and satisfactory. In fact, the novel does not purposefully evoke powerful emotions from the reader, does not delve into the emotions of the characters, does not make the readers feel very emotionally attached to it's characters. It has a very singular goal which is to tell it's story.
  • Character relationship and development are a bit on the low side but that is because of the novel's major focus on plot. There are no useless scenes. Ending was a bit anti-climactic, the boss fight ended so fast. But exploring more of the deities would have changed the novel's taste. What she did complies with her character. She wants to be a normal person. It felt like the short 5 minutes of fame and then the after.
  • Once again not much put into the world building, takes place in Modern day China, and not much is put into explore the unknown.
I may be influenced by my admiration for such an amazing plot, but yea. It does not comply with the usual system CNs I've read, as in it's very loyal to one story line and not diverting from it compared to the usual explorations of many different story lines, and not really having a purpose. It's refreshing in that sense.

decent read, though I wish there could have been a bit more to it than there was. The mystery was easy to figure out and the comedy just kind of petters out halfway through. The first couple of instances were the best as far as humor and incongruity is concerned. The romance is literally a summery in the last couple of pages and that's it, so don't expect a lot of mushy feelings or fluff. I didn't notice any kind of attraction or chemistry between the MC and ML throughout... more>> the story but then, I wasn't looking so I could have missed it. The end was mild and anticlimactic and mostly in summery form.

my final rating was 3.5 <<less

It's good but... well, feels rough? Bland? The author said she's doing intern so I guess that explain a lot.

It has good concept about QT and System, I like how the systems is
Spoiler

straight out as the gods itself.

[collapse]

Things I regret is:

    • MC did not act as White Lotus enough. Well, she did, initially, but later she kinda drop it off and it just written as background. Tell, not show. The humor is good tho. I like how she's in bloody state and casually drop "do you believe in love?".
    • The, ugh, conspiracies at the end. She got the country on her back but, again, it's just tell not show. 'I'm Not Shouldering This Blame' doing it better. And not to mention the whole
      Spoiler

'you're the evil company's CEO now'

      [collapse]
. Oh my God, no. Well it can be good but executed very poorly.
    • Romance isn't this thing but that's not means you can't building the relationship. In fact, I think she has most 'impactful' relation early with that Shen-Nephew. I kinda hope he's the ML tho. (What novels has a cheeky, a bit spoiled 3rd rich generation now? (Except BL) Everyone is either scum, pampering, or tall handsome rich cold overbearing CEO.) ML relationship with her 'start' during the Cruise arc and other than that, just background training scene. Again, the author tend to tell, not show.
    • That Shen Company should become her ace trump as the Shen-Uncle is the trigger of the first discoveries but noooo the author written it off. Second best is ML's mysterious company but nooo nothing about that. ML is just... there.
I finished it because the mystery is soooo good. Other than than, I think the novel need to be reviewed more.

when I read thid at first, I was pretty hesitant on actually reading it because I didn’t like how the author described the characters. It wasn’t my ideal type of female lead or male lead, but I thought it was find: I should try something new.

so I persisted, and lucky I freaking did. THIS STORY IS SUCH A BLAST. Not only it’s so playful, but also really thrilling. I didn’t expect it to be so deep, I thought it was mainly all about ruan bai being a white lotus... more>> and purposely dragging everyone into the water. I find it funny.

but when she encountered that the previous researched in the mermaid village is also a student in the school escape room, I know things are gonna go deep. I was pretty interested on it, because it sounds so so freakin thrilling. I dare not even look at my back while reading because religious horror is simply a worse nightmare.

through the end, the author was able to maintain such a thrilling tone of the story. The ending was so satisfying because it connected everything back into the first chapter.

the characters, they are a chef’s kiss. Ruan bai is not hypocritical at all, she tries to save everyone but she doesn’t let them take advantage of her. Although that’s pretty much a bare minimum, I just appreciate that from her. She have unique traits that is not overpowered, she is growing.

xiao sue, I like her so much. The way she’s just a junior high school student but her iq and intelligence even surpassed ruan bai and everyone else. Together, she can be someone ruan bai can rely on when it comes to clearing the game. As well as the male lead.

the relationship of everyone in this story is quite strong. Ruan bai can’t relate on xiao sue or anyone, but she subconsciously relied on chen buocho (the male lead). However, he had no one to rely on, and she made herself stronger.

my favorite character, however, is the white lotus system. It is entirely devoted on being a messenger of love, it was genuine on being a kind person. I was doubtful, at first, on its true purpose. However, the story progress proved me wrong. The system is simply the best character in this novel. As a little deity, it had no other desire other than spreading love and kindness. It is so much in contrast to the survival game system, who yearned to be powerful that it become so arrogant.

(11:11, I hope to find more better novels)

but I dont want to limit myself just because I like it, there’s a lot of plotholes in this story. The romance is so off, and the timeline is a bit rushed.

Spoiler

some of it are:

[collapse]

the novel portrayed the survival escape game system as an evil that have is worse than a demon. That narration made the readers feel like the meeting of the female protagonist and this system antagonist is gonna be hell and bloody. However, it didn’t feel like that at all. The system look so silly and foolish, although arrogant, I can’t sense its wickedness. It’s just ambitious.

since ruan bai was able to bound to the system because she wanted to help her grandmother, her grandmother must be so important to her. However, until the end, I didn’t see any other scene of her taking her time to seek out to her grandmother. And if her grandmother died, why didn’t the author narrate it? Grandma was what drive ruan bai to accept the system’s offer.

the novel have describe many times of how wicked the D.Y company is. But suddenly, ruan bai became the biggest stockholder of it. That is so absurd. Those moments were you made me feel like they are gonna have a hell war, it wad all for nothing? This part was definitely rushed.

the romance is totally off, it’s like the author decided to insert it the last minute of planning. I didn’t feel any chemistry nor spark, and neither a moment where the author can successfully backed up ruan bai’s strong affection for him. It couldn’t be possibly just because she can rely to him, that is absolutely absurd. This is the reason why I rate this 9/10, I dont like the romance.

the timeline is so off. In her situation, we should all feel rushed considering how those plot twists are slowly uncovering as we ho deeper to the story. But no, we skip months and years with one paragraph. I don’t feel any deep connection to this novel when it comes to actually being there with the characters with their day to day journey.

but do you know what’s amazing? The fact that these plotholes really do look like plotholes, but it’s actually reasonable. It connects the plot despite of the hole, esp about the D.Y company. The author totally changed my perspective of it, however it does not really explain the plotholes. But it’s okay because the plot is enough alone.

i don’t like the romance tho 😭😭 THEY DONT EVEN LIKE HAVE A REAL REAL REAL CHEMISTRY BUT THEY SUDDENLY HAVE A CHILD 😭 please, that’s so sad. I viewed them as young adults but they suddenly became parents, that was so abrupt.

my other fave character, by the way, is definitely Du Wenwen. That mf made me terrified because I thought he the real big villain 😭 HIS FATHER THO OMFG LIKE, they are one of my favorite characters there. They made the novel so good. <<less

I liked how the systems worked but the implementation was kinda meh. Fun, but not enough of a White Lotus later on, and some things regarding the MC's origins are really inexplicable. The mysteries aren't very complex.

Conclusion is really rushed. Reading the MTL notes, I feel like the author just wanted to be done so they could go finish their internship work, lol. The TL quality is pretty good but very British English in feeling.

Very funny, kinda stale in the last third.

This is probably the first survival game novel I've read so there's not much to say about it. MC even though is with the lotus system but she's smart, decisive and strong.

There's barely any romance, one or two hints indicate the ML likes MC. They're only getting together in the last chapter and the reasons why MC chooses him come off very rational, to the point I wish they should've just stayed ambiguous.

Plot is interesting

the system makes the FL have to act certain ways sometime that are funny to imagine happening and seem to make her situation wayyy more awkward than it already is

Some people may find the ending eh but I think it matched up with the story since it tied everything all together n wasn’t over the top and didn’t need to be

recommend this very much xoxoxoxo

It's okay, not really good not really bad, tbh if you see the tag 'romance', don't worry it's a bullshit, 100% bullshit, imma do some spoiler about romance. The romance actually happen in near the end... Too near. There aren't many developments about MC and ml, like in just one paragraph they fell in love in 2nd paragraph the dating 3rd paragraphs married and so on. For the escape weelll it's okay some have a little detail some aren't. Try it. It's doesn't need to use a ton of brain....

I'm on the 4th arc and... I am skimming. There's even more leaps in logic in this arc than previously. I find I'm not caring too much.

Overarching plot doesn't seems to interesting to me. I've read a lot of infinite flow and survival horror game novels. I'm assuming MC is super special since the author put in a dream of her grandpa telling her she was a treasure for the whole world. I assume since the Escape Game system was 'interested' in her and kept her that she's integral somehow.... more>> It's annoying that no one questions the existence of the systems and how/why they were selected to participate, or if it's connected to reality in any way (since they are looking for a DSAS connection in reality).

What was going to set this apart for me was the White Lotus acting and it barely happened. It happens once, maybe twice each story arc, and the MC gets annoyed. I get it in the first one, but after the second world, why hasn't she noticed that it ALWAYS results in opportunities and information that was otherwise unobtainable? She's supposed to be all about that. As soon as her system speaks up she should be ready to go into action and see what happens.

I'm probably going to drop it soon if it doesn't do something in the next 2 chapters to reignite my interest. <<less

Hands down one of the best quick transmigration novels I’ve ever read. Just absolutely spectacular. The worlds and the plot had me constantly on my toes. I think MC is so cool. The only shortcoming is not getting a chance to really know the full cast of characters but even then I feel like it was fair and they were still sufficiently fleshed out. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

3.2-3.4 overall

Strong start, mediocre after the first world

It was way too rushed with only a few worlds/missions to unravel the entire horror system, the MC's White lotus system was half-assed and partway through the novel the White Lotus acting just disappeared

Spoiler

Instead of relying on White Lotus system spreading to others in a half-baked boring way to end it, MC discovering her own "Godliness" and gathering believers/faction building and using the mermaid bell and other divine items to defeat the Horror System would be far more interesting

with 200 more chapters of greater exploration and actual romance or even just relationships with people and a deeper mystery that isn't half-assed it would easily be a 4.5+

Difficult impressions. The heroine doesn't last long as a "White Lotus" and it's a shame!!!! There are quite a lot of loose ends, there are a lot of questions, the detective line... well, ok, the heroine is not a detective and in general she has the function of a security officer and a special forces soldier. We run, jump, hit, intimidate... we have brains, but they are focused on something else. There is no romance as such. Time passes quickly. A big plus is that the author does not pour... more>> water to increase the volume. This is a really dynamic story. 4.5 stars I think. <<less

When the other reviewers say "no romance" they really do mean it.

I was expecting their to be minimal romance, but it's at the level of three sentences: one of the ML's ears going red one time, one of the FL realising she relies on the ML, and then one in the very last chapter (see others' spoilers).

That aside, I found the mysteries in each arc to be lacking. Maybe it was because I was reading MTL and missing things (though I doubt it because machine translations have seriously improved these... more>> past couple of years) but they just felt... flat for me. They made sense when they were explained, but if you thought about it a little more deeply, they didn't hold up.

It was the same for the over-arching mystery. It was novel and interesting, but the ending left a lot to be desired and there were a lot of threads/questions that were never resolved.

Spoiler

Like, how exactly they got the genetics of a deity? The author just glossed over that small detail, likely because they had the idea but not the explanation, but it's a key part of the whole mystery so it's a real let-down that it wasn't properly explained/expanded. Likewise, the systems themselves weren't really explained.

[collapse]

For stories in this genre - infinite flow - this was pretty mediocre, and didn't capitalise as much on its unique points as it could have. <<less
