As everyone knows, there is a plucky sort of male host. He is evil, charming and crazy. He is cold and has no feeling. He holds the land under the heavens in his palms. He has numerous confidants, but all of them can be forsaken and utilized. The true white moonlight of this master is only one.

Unfortunately, Li Xin was the former.

In a mysterious space, a man looked at the delicate and soft woman, like a pear blossom after the rain, and sighed. “Have you finished reading? This is your world. A novel featuring Lu Zigui.”

As one of the most miserable beauties who was cheated by the protagonist to devote herself to him all throughout her life, she was ultimately sacrificed for the sake of his “true love”. The man had thought that once she saw the truth of the unilateral “love” between them, she would cry bitterly or maybe cause havoc.

However……

After reading the final word, Li Xin casually closed the book, her expression as usual and lightly said, “You mean, my brother is not Lu Zigui, but Xu Yan. I recognised the wrong person, right?”

The man was dumbfounded by her tranquil manner, not resembling that of an implicated party, and hesitated, “……En.”

Li Xin: “So, what do you want to see me for?”

Man: “……If I said I could return you to the past?”

Li Xin: “Good.”

Looking at the woman’s slender figure fading into the brilliant rays of light, the man was at a loss and said blankly to himself, “Wasn’t this procedure too simple?……”

ShuShuShu, heads are falling from the brushing.*

*This is a pun. The character 苏 (shu) used here means revive and also sounds like 梳头 (also pronounced shu) which means brushing your hair.

I got really interested in this novel so, I went ahead and read the raws. I'll tell you this, out of all the Chinese gaming novels out there, for me, this has got to be the most unique.

Also, there's no dog blood plot like most Chinese romance and time travel novels.

This isn't about revenge. This isn't the "you bump into me, I'll kill you" kind of novel.

The female lead is mature and very rational. She's a strong and independent woman. [Me likey]

*Drum roll*

Spoiler

FINALLY! A FEMALE LEAD THAT IS ACTUALLY STRONGER THAN THE MALE LEAD. SHE'S REALLY INDEPENDENT TO THE POINT OF NOT ACTUALLY NEEDING NOR BEGGING THE MALE LEAD FOR HELP. SHE'S ALSO NOT A LOVE-STRUCK FOOL. GIRL POWER AT ITS FINEST.

This was good.

MC is a bit cold, but in a cute way? Her understanding of the world is severely limited from her growth environment. (Same goes for ability to form emotional ties.)

Just a warning—this is not a romance. The romance is more like the cherry on top. The ML doesn’t really appear in the first half and appears off and on through the rest. They’re both STRONG silent types.

... more>> It’s really more just about her adventures in the game, but that’s fine too

I ended up having stronger feelings for the three main NPCs than the MC and ml. Their storyline was heart wrenching.

the description is literally backstory/the very beginning of the novel. It’s not a revenge rebirth novel. Just a girl playing a game, kinda slice of life, with the fun game plot in the background. Sounds like she was already op first go around, only the jerk face o!ML dragged her down. <<less

Don't read this as a romance story. ML doesn't even appear until chapter 90. As for romance itself... well, it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon (I'm at chapter 112).

This is a nice mmorgpg story, with a huge world and reasonably OP protagonist. Usually I am not a fan of OP characters, but she is only OP when compared to other players. And since she doesn't interact with other players much, it's not an issue. She usually fights enemies that are stronger than her and she must strategise... more>> to avoid dying. Although it seems like dying and losing a level is nothing when you are several levels ahead of others, the author raises the stakes by adding time-sensitive missions that cannot be attempted again if failed and having non-respawnable NPC allies by her side. So far, I like it a lot. <<less

This is a unique novel. The story isn't original and it has many, many, flaws. However, it has some interesting aspects that should have been fleshed out more.

To be more specific, the intelligence network and her rebirth. I probably would have like a more fleshed out line of plot concerning reality.

That aside, as implied, the basis of the plot is basically completeing the in game plot.

The MC is mainly focused on the game and she does talk with humans early on but "playing" together comes much later once she levels... more>> up. This results in being more attached the NPC's.

The MC is intelligent and has a low EQ. Additionally, she is much stronger than the ML :)

The side characters are meh. The author tried to throw in some drama with idiotic female characters but because her protagonist was so indifferent, it just messed with the flow of the story.

It made me think, "what even is the point of this bafoonery"

Anyways, a 4/5 or even a 3.5/5 if you will. I wished it was longer but given how low the main character's EQ is, the author didn't have much to work with.

Enjoi and Adieu.

P.s. The ML was cute. His quirks in the story is quite original. This closeted history chuuni boi

Spoiler

Also, I don't know if it was a time skip or what but the FL literally left to the intelligence network after she finished the game! I actually chuckled and felt so bad for Xu Yan. My boi, your Yu Ji dipped lmao

It is really creative when it comes to some game world building. But I have trouble empathizing with MC & ML for some reason. They are interesting in their own way. The ending was too rushed for me and it would've been better if the foreshadowing were weaved in better. It didn't gel well for me. For ex, when I was expecting the late romance to finally have some progress, there's nothing. I understand that she's wonky in the head. But can we have her realize she is wonky and... more>> work on communicating properly? Their relationship doesn't feel like a relationship. It's messed up as hell. Also, the way she treated Corian left a bad taste in my mouth. If she can quote about love to Augs, why can't she do the same for Marianne and Corian so they can get together? She knew in her past life that they were supposed to be together right? So why not do something for them when she benefited so much from them? I mean, for now, it was left open ending, maybe they do end up together but I'm just not happy she just watched the show as if she really was not part of it. Finally, the last chapter just made me want to hurl. She agreed to marry the guy but the moment she leveled up enough, she left the area without saying anything? Like, WTF? Oh, there was a message about how contacts will be fine. But still, is not communicating so cool nowadays? I don't think it's cool. Throughout the novel, there were several times I would've liked both of them to realize that they are not doing this right.

Oh my, I just realized my whole review was a rant. Haha. I just finished so I'm quite frustrated because it had such an interesting premise and it delivered to major extent. I just had too many gripes with the main characters. But the side characters were what made it shine for me. There were some really funny cast members. A lot of the journey was meaningful for me to read. Although there were some plot holes that didn't make sense sometimes but oh well, I'm not reading these for quality anyway. It was good for what it was. <<less

This novel is very confusing and doesn't know what it wants to be.

Please be mindful that I mostly MTL-ed this novel, but I did understand the main jist of it.

MC was born in what seems to be a concentration camp and is adopted by this lady, who on her deathbed, aks MC to escape and find her son and help/look after him. So she starts playing this VR game (idk how she got ahold of the VR game in a concentration camp) and for half the story, it's about her... more>> running quests and getting stronger. She actually doesn't find the lady's son (who is also the ML) until chapter 90, and when she meets him, she does not explain anything and just follows him around calling him "brother." Him, being a normal person, thinks she is a weirdo and rejects her.

There is also a small mention of the OgML in the novel, although halfway it seems like he just dissapears. He is only ever mentioned in the game and she never meets him IRL, like in her past life. Her past life seems lame af. She gets killed while they (OgML and ogFL) are trying to escape the concentration camp. In this life, she escapes by herself and then manages to find the ML's family and live with them.

The fact that MC was reborn and realises that she lives in a novel does not have much bearing on the plot. I guess all it does it make her stronger as she knows how to cheat better. She is consistently #1 on the leaderboards, can fight and can heal even better than people who specialise in those individual roles. Very mary sue except that her EQ is quite low. I think the author tried to make her a bit eccentric to make her seem more special? The author would often comment that her logic does not follow common logic and that her mind is a mystery. Cool.

Like I said, this novel doesn't know what it wants to be. As a gaming novel, it's quite bland and boring. Not sure what her goal is as she is easily #1 and OP in everything. She finds the ML but when she does, she doesn't do much with him and their interactions anre minimal and boring. As a romance, this is a terrible romance. Both characters are bland and boring and them "falling in love" reminds be of a kid holding two completely incompatible toys and making them touch lips, saying "now kith." I do not believe that any of these characters fell in love as they do not seem capable of experiencing that level of emotion.

I can't believe I read the whole novel. <<less

*The actual rating is around 4.5, but I rounded it up to 5.

This is nice casual read. The story doesn't really focus on the romance and it doesn't really seem like they're in love although the author does explain it will grow gradually. The FL doesn't have much of common sense and that makes her actions unpredictable. Although the NPCs have an impact on the story it feels the FL keeps them at a distance and there really isn't much emotions shown. Plus the ending was totally unexpected:

Apparently the game was some sort of link to a universal knowledge network, which she opened up when she reached a certain combat level. The workers (1111 to I think 9999) are mentioned earlier but it didn't really make us give it a lot of attention. Even later on it doesn't seem like she ever fell in love.

MTL'd the whole thing so my understanding of the novel may not be 100% percent.

This is definitely more of a slice-of-life vr-mmo novel, but not in the usual way. Li Xin doesn't even really interact with real humans in the game until chapter 60ish. A lot of the story is her playing the actual game (with NPCs).

I think I came into the novel incorrectly. I expected the NPCs to be unimportant so I wasn't invested in them as characters but the majority of the novel is on their character development,... more>> so when they're introduced, treat them as the main characters. Li Xin is just our eyes to witnessing their story.

I do like that she is more OP in the game than the ML and remains that way. Nice to see that for a change.

Main reason for taking off a star is that the pacing is all over the place. The novel can go extremely slow and into great details during her quests but then the actual battles or meat of the adventure is glossed over fast. The last quarter of the novel also moves sooo fast. It's like the author just remembered that there's a real life component and had to quickly resolve that.

Spoiler

Also the ending was extremely confusing for me and felt like it came out of nowhere (or maybe my MTLing was just that off.

I have only read one chapter, cause there is only one, however the premise is extremely interesting. A glimpse of a futuristic setting, with the MC starting off in a very harsh environment. Lots of potential.

I will update this after it updates more.

An example of how you should NOT write a novel. Has a nice stable premise of reincarnation and a good amount of mystery around the game, but was ruined by two things.

First was the author's desire to present heroine either as cutest, purest and most delicate beauty at every opportunity, or add a little something about how unnerving this beauty becomes when she stops smiling. By the chapter 57 I saw at least 15+ passages phrased exactly the same about the same old topic. Always about how nice and cute... more>> and weak she looks, and how surprised everyone around are at her strength, and how scared they become when she looks at them like a kid from Shining. Which tbh feels weird considering she was basically a semi-street urchin in an underdeveloped closed district who was used to fight everyday for food, which doesn't scream pure, demure and delicate at all.

Second was infodumping. Author was really afraid there will be even one person who doesn't understand the whole game mechanics, and forgot that we're here to read about the heroine who plays this game, not play it ourselves. Seriously, dumping info in the middle of battle..? I don't care about the boss's biography or what kind of storyline each of the difficulty has in a dungeon. Please only give me info related to the plot.

I think with good editor this novel would've become very interesting, because the overall premise of clearing the game while knowing the future doesn't sound boring. But alas, we have what we have. <<less

I second everything secondtofu said, especially about the overall pacing and ending. I enjoyed this regardless and the story has a lot of high points. There were actually a lot of hints leading up to the ending, but there was much to be desired. Why was she reborn? What happens to her after the end? What does Xu Yan feel about this development? Do Corian and Morianne get together?

On the authors view of relationships:

Spoiler

I actually don’t mind that Xu Yan and her settled their relationship without drama and logically... It’s not what I would have gone for, but it makes sense for the characters. My only worry is that she is rather young and does not seem to be very aware of Xu Yan as a man. You can have a marriage based on admiration and respect, but physical attraction is important long term, unless they also have a sexless marriage. Xu Yan is physically attracted to her though, so ignoring that doesn’t seem like a good idea.

I am temporarily putting a 5 star review here, due to the fact someone gave this story a 1 start when there was only 1 chapter out.

I hope the rating doesn't scare people away, its a bit unfair to judge it so early due to its """bad""" rating. I hope the story lives up to my 5 star rating though!

In so far, the synopsis explains everything and chapter 1 lets the reader fall directly into the start of her redo-life. I look forward to reading this.

Interesting but casual read. As many mentioned, pacing is inconsistent and there are many plot holes glossed over. Ending definitely rushed. FL is cool and I like her style but wish author had explored that better and explained things a bit more.

I have mixed feelings about this book, especially its ending. To me, it actually felt rushed and actually quite unexpected. Basically a casual read novel for those interested in RPG like reading experience, no drama whatsoever and those who don’t want a revenge story book. If you do play RPG games, it makes you want this game to exist and play it as well.

Spoiler

I would just like to let you all know that the FL of this book is cold killer but as the author explained, she is also a normal person. As the author also explained, she does not hate nor like the OriML which is why she isn’t like other FL’s who go hardcore on revenge. In the end, the FL and ML does not have a child and I don’t know if their relationship has a slight improvement it just ended with what has happened to FL and her achievements.

[collapse]

Although it seemed a bit confusing to where this was headed but the author gave out a good explanation regarding some parts and cleared out some questions in my head. MTL just made me confused but at least it was understandable although my reading experience was a bit bumpy. I liked the story itself and it was a fun read except it lacked the romance which the author gave a reason for.

It’s understandable that FL did not love ML and that, as the author explained, they were perfect for a relationship that could last for a long time. I liked this novel because it really reminded me of the RPG games I play, especially the fantasy type but this type of genre, you really want that romance in to spice it up.

To sum it up, a good novel but just don’t expect romance and there isn’t much drama factor as well. The author seems to let you feel the game through the story and like an RPG game, you watch as your character levels up, go through the main storyline, meet friends NPC or player and enjoy except it’s like a futuristic version. No love rivals at all, no evil villains (if you scratch out the NPC villains in the game storyline), the OriML of FL’s has no importance whatsoever in the book except coming out in the beginning and mid plots as someone who has conflicting task with FL and lastly no 2nd ML syndrome (That doesn’t exist in this book, not at all and it has romance tag LOL) <<less

I stopped reading halfway because the pacing of the story is too slow or the character build up is too detailed and she's too OP.

BUT I know that this is a good novel so maybe I'll come back to finish this off hence the 5 stars.

I just simply did not see the ML so that kinda put me off a little. Anyway, that's just for me.
