The novel is very similar to other similar novels. And the point is not that this is just one genre, but that the author even copied entire texts from other novels. I used to put this novel on my list of "disliked" novels. And, today I accidentally stumbled upon a novel on a Chinese site, which came out a few years earlier than this novel. And many scenes were very familiar, I decided to find and compare one of the chapters with this novella and was surprised that the dialogues... more>> of the characters coincided almost 100%. If someone wants to check, you can compare, I don't know if that novella is on this site, but its name is "我成了小说的反派" and the author's nickname is "醉落九天". Compare the chapters of this novel 11 and this novel 9, and you will find a complete match in the dialogues. Most likely other moments are also stolen from other novels. <<less

Given this story's setting, it was probably inevitable that people would draw comparisons to Gao Fushai Villain and other such novels. And while similarities do exist, having read pretty much everything of this genre on this website, I'd say what this novel excels in is characterization. The main character of this novel is not only more likable than the protagonist of Gao Fushai Villain, the relationship he has with the girls in his harem is also a lot more believable and compelling.

Another thing this novel has going for it is... more>> that it's not as over-the-top as Gao Fushai, which I liked, but hey, those are just my thoughts and opinions — do the read the novel for yourself and decide what you think about it. <<less

First of all. The translation is fantastic, no problem there. The only reason I'm giving this a low rating is the story itself. It is very similar to a lot of other stories like I am a Gao Fushuai Villain, I Became the Rich Second-Generation Villain etc. But they have some unique settings or something that makes them different. This work is heavily similar to I am a Gao Fushuai Villain, that has better implementation than this and is frankly way better.

So as others have said this is a little similar to I am a Gao Fushai Villain and honestly that is unavoidable as the background and setting of some of the heroines really is similar, for example Mu Zijin and Qiao Qiao are Mary Sues who are at the advanced level in just about everything and fall just short of the protagonist in certain skills.

That said I like the implementation better of this one, for example he can level skills with exp or points bought with money, but Ye Fei... more>> can also level up his skills through practice too, and the more experience he gains from actually practicing the skills the less the cost of an upgrade. I like this part more because power given can be taken, but if you actually practice enough you can make it a part of your own skill set.

Similarly Ye Fei doesn't have an overload of skills like Lin Tian, all his skills are practical ones that see use, heck he even has swimming and his martial arts skills take into account the importance of street fighting to a certain extent as street fights are a different ballpark compared to official martial arts tournaments or even unofficial martial arts fights. So I prefer how practical stuff is in this work. I mean true Piano skills aren't really all that practical but in higher rungs of society it can be used as a flex. <<less

Normally I wouldn't make a review so early on, but there are many red flags since the start, signifying that this is a garbage novel, probably the worst of the villain vs main characters type.

• • the pace feels awfully rushed; the author doesn't write out events in details, but rather seems to be copying events from similar novels while cutting corners, resulting in a bland read that is stale, uninteresting, and hard to get into

• • the characters so far don't seem too interesting

• • what's the point of making the system ignorant in love affairs when it can judge the result of MC's actions on love interest's emotions instantly, and even more so what's the point of making it female? Mind you, it's even more ret*rded when it doesn't understand female nature when it's female, so I rly don't know what the author's tripping on.

• • again, events are stale and rushed, and the author is glossing over important details right from the start (completely ignoring the female butler and parents for example; it's obvious they're important characters, but they're ignored because the author is focusing on a particular love interest, and apparently can't spare mental faculties to deal with anything else; even then he rushes to cover developments that would take any of the novels I listed at the bottom at least twice as many chapters to do well)

• • the translation is low-key garbage, it's probably edited MTL and the translator can't even use words properly (e.g. The translator doesn't know the difference between misogyny and androphobia, so he's using the terms interchangeably - literally A, B, A, B - in reference to the same person, who has androphobia by the way)

Anyway, it's painful to read. I'll try to read a bit more, but if I don't edit within a day or two since I wrote this review, it means it's garbage and I dropped it.

If you want to read a good novel of this style, go read City: I Started As A Rich Second-generation Villain, probably the best of the genre, or its clone I became the rich second generation villain (okay I don't know which is the clone, but the first one is much better), or at least go read I am a Gao Fushuai Villain which is also 100x better than this shit.

The story is very similar to the "I am a Gao Fushuai Villain" but it was written better. There was better pacing, characters and situations.

However, near chapter 150 (?), the story takes an abrupt turn. It almost feels like different stories.

MC was spending time with one heroine, when somebody suddenly tries to assassinate her. Obviously, the MC helps and saves her but then they get lost in the forest. They are rescued soon after. The problem is not that that this scene is bad. The problem is it was too different from the general vibe of the story. Way too unexpected.

One other scenario was when MC was spending time with another heroine. Suddenly, she gets a call that her best friend was kidnapped and she is called to come there. MC obviously goes with her and soon it becomes a hostage situation and they fight like Hollywood movie stars. Again, way too unexpected and doesn't really fit anywhere.

I see in the reviews here saying it's "part of the same genre so of course it's gonna have similarities". I've basically read or caught up to all of this exact genre yet there is an obvious difference between the them. They all have the same base plot but there executed in different ways.
