.. well... it might be only for me... but even at the beginning of story, some of the heroines are already lost... so I kinda felt uncomfortable there.. that's one part

But delving into review even though it's a cliched academy story.... but I normally like them actually I'm a fan of those Korean novels... but this is like dry jp academy story...I mean the drama is too much... the unnecessary hate around MC is one... more>> thing, but MC somehow uselessly trying to maintain that hate even after possession is... idk what to say about that.... and

Coming to that og MC...I mean in all these 100 chaps there's nothing explored about him.. they didn't even show us a proper pov of his.. and all the time we see is him going around with his harem and being annoying.... but tbh when I walked in I was expecting some serious action and face sleeping after reading the first chapter where he was humiliated and suspended... but nah nothing even after coming back he just tried to uphold the previous tr*sh image somehow.. tried to hurt his fiance more.... and yh the og MC..... MC keeps on saying he gets his harem through various life and death events... but ntg if that sort happened in the whole 100.. only time when some trouble occured but.... the faculty dealt with it.... there was not even a glimpse of this harem and og MC... yh they said few reasons why... but really? That's all.. it was as if pointing gun at us and asking us to believe he's the og protagonist so obviously he would have a harem of most popular girls of academy who somehow hates MC to the core with literally zero plausible reason..

And this contains those shoujo villaness novel level dramas... but zero literal action...I wanted to see MC getting powerful doing some serious stuff... but nah everything here is drama.... the heroines MC gets... yh they're wholesome to some extent and likable but the pace they accept MC as a good guy out of nowhere... where as whole school hates him is like way too irrelevant...I mean I can't bear this sh*t when those of harem members hate MC and his girls out of nowhere and try to justify saying everything is for justice and blindly following og protag... al these tropes are I hate the most... and moreover absence any literal action episodes from MC are like a big minus for me..

Even tho some emotional and wholesome moments are well connected... but I didn't came here for that...I came here for action fantasy in a academy....I could bear harem for the MC and could bear their drama... coz it's the same of story... but hell... why should I watch that harem of og protag giving off ntr vibes out of nowhere... that stuff about MC's fiance is like whole other level ntr vibe which gave me immense discomfort..

Ig you're okay with all those above... if you like shoujo like drama in novels... except the MC is a guy and targets are girls... go for it <<less

Even as a wishful-filment novel, this one is as bad as other dry JP isekai webnovel. I even doubted myself if I was actually reading one of those JP novel.

Don't bother reading it even if you're searching for junk foods.

Action is dry

Romance is not two but one dimensional

Characters are inorganic

Plot is cliche

Drama, or whatever this novel cooked up, is teenage level annoying

I guess it make sense because they are teenagers. Some of the troupes in the novel that I had trouble 'digesting':

  1. Fat MC suddenly becomes fit with the use of fantasy potion. Now people are awestruck, "Wow, who's that handsome." You don't know how much cringe I had to endure while hoping it will get better.
  2. MC made a master and servant kind of relationship with another herione for the public. If my mtl literacy is correct, it's because herione wants to befriend him for secretly saving her but his reputation is sh*t so he's worried that they will bully her if she hangs out with him. In the end, he compromised by making this deal so they could naturally interact? Wow, look at the power of friendship. I thought he already determined himself to act like a villain in public so what the hell is he doing taking this risk that he'll expose his act if someone tailed on him and caught his private exchange with the herione? He could have just stay still and let his past rumors cook than taking this unnecessary risk.
  3. So it did happened, his act got exposed by the main herione and now she's mad why he wasn't kind to her when they were still together. Ohh this s*upid drama, it's like 'novel's extra' again. I know where this is going already.

I see nothing good in this novel even if I lowered my standard down to the bottom. At best, some aspects are barely average level but most are down to the bottom.

I might re-evaluate once the translation catch up but even so, the most I can give this novel is 2 star if I do change my ratings.

Only several chapters are out, but what stands out is the high quality of writing and translaiton.

Storywise there doesn't seem to be anything unique yet. Just another go on the usual 20-year old with terminal illness who transmigrates into a villain in a world with a magical academy in the semi-Middle Ages, but we are here because we like that genre and this looks like a promising entry.

4/5 for now.

So far so good. The opening is very clean with a bit of intrigue, the translation is nicely done, and the protagonist seems to be the calm, calculative, non-wimpy type which I like.

My only complaint is the dialogues in the opening which can be considered a little lengthy with some taking up 2 paragraphs, but none of them is really exposition dump, and most just consisted of characters arguing with another character. In short, typical aristocratic speech, but it just honestly adds more personalities to this novel which is much... more>> appreciated.

But here comes the twist. His death was not meant to be i.e., he got accidentally killed. Now, the System, who watches over the Universe gave him a new life.

He is told that his memories from his past life will come over time.

Now, he was a total piece of sh*t character before his memories came. This means that he himself was a pos (he was unaware of his past life) and it was not someone he possessed the body of. That makes for an interesting idea.

It is kinda your standard Villain transmigration story.. What sets it apart from others is that the main character transmigrates into a villain does his own thing instead of following the main plot.. I think what stands out are the heroines, they have fleshed out personalities and have character growths. MC also hates the original protagonist/hero and is willing to go at odds with him. It's pretty enjoyable, it's not the best, but it's a fun read.

Very heavy spoilers for heroines.

In this world you can't defy destiny but there are two thing that can manipulate this, that is being a hero or being a dragon..

  1. Elie - She is actually princess aclemene who is destined to die.. She asked a prophet how to live and said that she needs to pretend to be a commoner and it's the only way for her to meet the person who will save her. If you think the MC looks like an idiot when he is with her, that is because she is gaslighting him so that he can be her husband in the future..
  2. Eugenia/Selene - A rare spirit mage, She is the childhood friend of the Hero of the original story. She is destined to be part of the hero's harem, but because she meets MC early, she then had a change of heart after having lots of good moments with him. MC is also the one who gave her a nickname "selene". Gaslights MC by making him her best friend and pretending she needs help in spirit magic.
  3. Cecillia - She is saint Christina pretending to be a priestess student. She is destined to be part of the hero's harem. She Meets MC early and has dreams where she is riding a powerful black horse that will end the fight between light and dark, the horse looks very similar to MC which gave her the wrong impression that he might the prophesized hero. She has gaslighted him a little bit.
  4. Iris - former fiance of MC who is destined to be part of the hero's harem. After seeing the MC changed, she distanced herself from the hero and is now trying very very hard to mend her relationship with MC.
  5. Estelle - MC's cousin and is a dukes daugther. She is the main reason why the original MC is fat and has a spoiled personality. She gaslighted him into overeating and to have a spoiled personality so that others will not notice him. In the original story, she planned to marry him after he got disowned and kicked out of the academy.
  6. Demon lord/queen - She is the library girl Efania, pretending to be a student in the academy. Not much interaction yet with the MC.

It is a far more grounded (Or at least for the chapters that are public at the time of posting this review) than most academy stories. Of course, it still falls into the norm with the MC getting put into the body of a fat bully weakling that was a third rate villain and walking plot device for the game's MC, though it doesn't do the usual "I did ten pushups and now I'm ripped now" kinda deals with other academy villain novels. I'm sure by the start of the... more>> next arc he will have burned off the fat entirely, but it feels more natural in this novel, dealing with his health conditions and working to fix them over time. The MC doesn't have OP bullsh*t powers neither, though again this might be subject to change with the coming "easter egg" shenanigans. My biggest worry is the "harem" tag however. I'm fine with a romantic interest, but harem for this genre usually means that the MC steals the lifeless cardboard cutout waifus of the game's protagonist who unconditionally forgive his past self for being a complete as*hole and are deeply in love with him just because he became not an a**hole.

By far the worst part is the translator. Do not dare tread here without good adblock lest you be redirected to shady sites. Definitely use the brave browser on mobile with the brave shield protections to guard you.

If you are looking for standard academy villain reincarnation junk food, it's not a bad choice. <<less

it's like a watered-down version of 'The extra's academy survival guide'. This one seems less like KR novel and more like JP novel. So far, there's nothing about the MC's strength growth. He's supposed to be a magician, yet he hardly uses magic. I do hope we get more explanations as the story progresses.

Edwin's as dense as a black hole, even when given obvious signs by Ellie and Eugenia (Selene/Celen). Like when

their etiquette (?) teacher revealed the meanings of skinship and 1-on-1 invitations and Edwin asked both heroines about hugging his arm, poking his hand, inviting him out on dates, sitting beside him instead of opposite him when dining, hanging out in the forest in the evening, they just said that the teacher was old-fashioned and Edwin blindly believed them. Or when Edwin passed by Iris (his ex-fiancee that he's trying to distance himself from) and he suddenly put his arm over Ellie then Ellie became as red as a tomato, all shy and shit, but he thought she was just pretending to be embarrassed. Or when Selene asked Edwin to put hickeys all over her body to break off an engagement to the hero and Edwin still didn't figure out that the one Selene wanted was himself

I guess its an ok read. Nothing special out of it. I wont read anymore of it.

I only enjoyed the part where he isnt at the academy. It feels like the only somewhat "memorable" part. Next to that I consider it a slice of life with one or two very short battles to introduce evil.

I dont recommend it

Initially the story was ok to read as a past time, a 3.5 for me, but chapter 38 for me was the worse, leaving me in a huge disappointment in the novel and the MC.

The MC's determination to uphold his villain character at the school just crumble under pressure from the school principal, copped out saying "I reflected". He didn't even try to come up with an excuse to stay in character like in the beginning when he broke up with his fiancee.

I wasn't expecting "My Death Flags Show No... more>> Sign of Ending" quality and had my standard lower, but I was still disappointed. <<less

I MTLed like 100 chapters, so I might not have 100% understood everything.

This is a surprisingly good reborn as villain story. The reactions to the MC are pretty realistic and he has good chemistry with the heroines.

The biggest flaw of this story is actually the original protag (the hero). The guy is just all around unlikable, and it's unclear whether it's on purpose or not. A lot of his power-ups/achievements feels undeserved because it kind of just happens off screen. He's just kind of a shitty person getting handed a... more>> lot of upgrades, but is also antagonistic to the MC.

The second is the MC is all about "following the original story". Which makes sense because he doesn't want to screw things up. But it's also really dumb because every 10 chapters he does things to completely mess up the original time line. <<less

I like it so far. Its not depressing as most kr stories seen to be. The MC isn't overpowered at least not now. Progression rate is acceptable. Not too fast or slow. Characters are well drawn as is the world building. I look forward to more chapters.

The story from the beginning to the present is built quite well. But can anyone tell me why the MC went from being a cold guy to being like a tsundere, the way he treats Ellei is like a Shoujo Ai series, it's no different from those male villain income series of reverse harems.

Really I think this could maybe be bumped up to 3.5 stars. It is decently average. It's good, not amazing. If you dive into be aware that the first 35ish chapters are a prelude the academy. Some people may be put off by that.

MC seems to be mostly normal, but he suffers from a strange compulsion when the first heroine is around. Time will tell what that means (I hope).
