If you came here expecting a sweet doting story then this is not for you.

This is like a cliche otome game starring the villainess, her fiancee (a fallen Earl's second son) and his lover (a baron's daughter) but this time in a more realistic setting.

This world is set in old time and tries to be realistic to the time, it never tried challenging the setting.

MC and MC's mother are taught to put their marquis family and royal family first before their happiness. It doesn't matter if it means they will... more>> be treated as a s*ave so long as their family will be in good hands with the husband. And this is why that scum ex fiancé was rejected later not because he's a womanizer, of which was accepted (they can marry multiple wives) back then but simply because he didn't even know how to do his job or be decisive and scheming genius (outright informing MC what he plans to do).

Not saying this is super realistic, as at most it does try to be realistic in regards to people's behaviour and how one can be happy and marry someone they love despite the situation. Which for me, I really love. Sad it's just a short read then again can't probably hold the angst if it's too long. 🙈 A good read if you are fine with reading something akin to the old times, otherwise if you are too sensitive with your values and rights and wish the characters to portray them, don't. <<less

I give this a 3 for the translators, the story itself gets a 1.

The world of the story can be summed up in one question: What even is womens' rights? Because in this world, women are essentially the servants of their husbands. They must do anything their husband tells them to do, endure any type of abuse and it's the case that every woman in this story agrees with this. I'm okay with stories having a world of discrimination, but the fact that this is never questioned just hurts my... more>> brain.

Spoiler

The main girl Leafa's 1st fiancée is a little poop stain called Kirk who insults her, steals credit for the work he forces her to do, and openly cheats on her while saying that he will make the mistress the first wife (of Leafa's house) and exile Leafa to a shed or something.

Y'all know why Leafa finally asks to get the engagement broken? Not because she's being treated like a servant and cheated on. Because she is being treated like a servant and cheated openly. Guess what? Her dad's aide watched this sh— go down at their school and was like: Durhhh okey

Leafa's actual hubby finally shows up in the last chapter. Whatever. He's fine but not really that big of a payoff.
