Not so much a fan of xianxia but this story really touched me and activated my tear bladders. They had a really rough journey but the development of the story is well thought out. Some hidden schemes were sinister but also some schemes were done to secretly protect those you care about. There's a good reason why she was kicked out of her sect and it was not because of what she did. Amazing novel. I laughed and cried with the characters. The FL is great and really strong. She gets beaten down but she always rises. She might be totally stubborn in her view of the world but it is also what makes her unyielding character!

In the beginning I thought the ML was an absolut as*hole and, for the life of me, I didn't understand, why the FL didn't just leave. I feel it was somewhat weird given her nature - but oh well. I’ve had this novel in my reading list for so long I only picked it up yesterday and I couldn’t stop reading it. Trust me you won’t regret reading this, I experienced every emotion while reading this. To all those readers who are thinking about reading it you should definitely do it.
the only thing I didn’t like about this book was that I got a major book hangover after finishing it. There was never a dull moment in the book where you got bored, the pacing was good the characters were also good. It was a classic enemies to lovers slowburn with an interesting plot.
A big thanks to the translator also.

Really really good. With a satisfying ending. The FL is freaking awesome and so strong mentally. She complements really well to our ML. I totally love their interactions and loyalty to one another. It is an enemies to love romance book so keep that in mind and trust that their relationship will get so much better as they get to know one another more.

Loved it! It's one of the best xianxia novel I've read so far.

The story is well developed, bittersweet and characters are quite genuine, they are not perfect and that's something than many novels lack.

Really good fantasy romance!

Interesting characters who have interesting flaws, good plot (that doesn't drag on and go into pointless loops), good feels, good humour. Skilled author who can really make you see the action. Also dedicated translator, with a good sense of humour whose translations also bring the story to life.

4.5/5. I binge read a bunch of the author's works in a sitting. There's a certain formula to Jiu Lu Fei Xiang's writing--bold, brash, and strong oblivious MC; stoic (sometimes misunderstood) ML; some sort of betrayal/conflict/separation between the two that usually gets resolved in a satisfying manner; and all that carried by solid writing.

Not really out of this world, but a nice comfort cnovel to read.

I feel like this novel is TOO romance for me. Like there's too much drama that was caused by failed relationships, e.g., Su Ying/her mortal lover and Tian Yao, Xian Ge/that Feng guy, that fox healer/her cultivator lover, and probably Ling Xiao/Yan Hui (Idk if Ling Xiao's feeling for her was romantic at this point).

Also FL and ML getting distracted or reminiscing about the past during critical moments in battles. No, just no.

And the recurring theme of FL getting kidnapped, I'm tired of it.

I know, the main villain was probably Ling Xiao's master who cultivated the heretical ways, or could be some other hidden villains. But at this point, I don't care.

This turned out to be quite good. The first few chapters felt a little jarring because it felt like everything started too fast and without much preamble and backstory. It made me feel halfhearted and rethink multiple times if I wanted to keep reading.

This is a love story with some mystical themes of demons and cultivation. There was lore and story building, but amidst the angst and all the suffering, I felt underwhelmed by the main conflict/s of the story. I appreciate the plot twist, but there are some glaring... more>> plot loopholes here and there. Some characters also suffered the cannon fodder syndrome, and most villains lacked dimension. The MCs were ok, whatever lack of character others have, the author compensated through them. The extra chapters could have been better, but instead author wrote about a weird, trivial event post-reunion. One thing that I'm so curious to know,

didn't the main villain have any neidan that they could have obtained and used by FL? But yeah, it may be easier to kill off FL and let her be reborn, so as to extend King Qing Qui's lifespan (which was originally written as only days left before the final showdown) ?

Translation-wise, there were a good number of typo and maybe mistranslated/misused words throughout. But it is readable. And I guess I've been too pampered by some sites, I kinda prefer those with adjustable settings (increase font size, changeable background, etc)) as it helps me binge read.

So this one is fair enough, kinda overrated if I look at the overwhelming high ratings. If anyone's into dragon stories, I'd point them first to "I Married a Disabled Tyrant After Transmigrating". Kinda similar storyline, FL is also tenacious but in a different way, a ton of angst and suffering, and quite a satisfying ending. <<less

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE NOVEL!!!

At first it was hard to finish a chapter but I read it slowly and I'm glad I didn't drop this... This book made me feel a lot of emotions. I laughed and cried a lot while reading this. This is my first time writing review so pardon my words/grammar. I hope you can appreciate and loves this story as I did..

The writing is well done and the premise is interesting but the female lead feels like she is trying to check too many "quirky female lead" boxes. It makes her annoying to read. I will give it another shot later though.

Pros :

It's a unique pairing. Both MC and ML have been heart broken / betrayed by loved ones. MC has such a fun personality. The other side couples are also quite good although most of them have BE.

The side characters are good, the villains not so much. They have a certain depth to them. Some characters even have redemption arc. It was nice. It was what I expect from a josei, more mature read.

The twist is good. It wasn't revealed until the last few chaps. Each character gives mixed signals... more>> and got you wondering what will happen next.

Cons :

The romance is surprisingly slow. It was only in the 50s where both protags realised about their feelings. <<less

An enjoyable read! I loved the MC and ML, really loved their interactions and how their relationship blossomed. Very satisfied with the ending. I totally loved that the dramatic events and plot twists, it was thrilling and exciting, instead of annoying (like, when it was totally out-of-nowhere with no proper foreshadowing and structure building) it was really well written. Xian Ge, whew....I was totally conflicted with her. She toally sent me into a troublesome dilemma, like, , , , I hated what she did to her family, bascially let her Aunt die and almost sent her brother to death too, she was plain selfish with that choice but then again the reason why isn't really unreasonable either... but! Its! Just! Frustrating! Ugh

This was so good I wish there were more. I really loved the MC she was full of life and a bad ass. I loved that she took on the role of the protector instead of the ML. Definitely one of the best xianxia’s Ive read.

Chapter 9 down and I'm loving the storyline and the translation. I have to see it through but I'm seeing a lot of promise in this novel. I only knew now that this novel is from the same author who wrote one of my all-time favorites, Sansheng, Wangchuan Wu Shang.

Really a good novel. The Female lead took on the role of usual Male lead and the Male lead was really protected by the FL. And FL really a bold, straightforward girl. Brave and kindhearted. ML is a pitiful guy. He just loved a wrong person and suffered alot. The story really had all kinds of ups and down, good plots, mystery, good fights. (Can’t help thinking back al those good HK dramas with all the good fights, not like nowadays all cgi and not so good cinematography) and... more>> good twists and plots.
