First of all, the story started with a weird reason: "Because when he looked at me, nothing else mattered. It was as though he was drowning, and only I could save him." Which the reason was not found out only in the late chapters where the reason was that ML got dumped by the second FL. The ML is a highly ambitious and competitive person who married the FL just because FL's father was CEO at where he worked at too if I remember correctly. The ML was accepted by FL's father as a suitor because he has seen that ML is a hard-working person. FL's father dies shortly after brain cancer and the ML marries FL. Then starts the drama plot: ML: "I don't love you, but I will take care of you and do my job as a husba--" same meaning but different words from me (in the late chapters where he bedded her -.- they don't have children because ML's ego of how FL is a dummy and he is so perfect), etc.,

FL: who fell in love with him was sad of course but meh she got in this herself.

(Reason of why FL fell in love with him: because FL saw ML at the company when she was father's assistant, where ML elegantly (described by the author as ML being handsome/sexy/dashing/cool, ETC moment (not the same as here but basically described as prince charming in a way)) discussed in English with the foreigner and ended the project well, it got FL infatuated with him.)

Then in two years that have passed the ML was described by the author as unfaithful (unfaithful<< not framed by someone and making it as a drama plot, nope, truly committing adultery) and a hard worker CEO who earned a lot of money at the same time, which for me it's unacceptable. I really would have dropped the novel from that point but wanted to see the FL's ending.

FL: a female lead with 0 self-confidence in herself, it is said she dropped from school<< if I'm wrong

ML: just ew ego and selfish brat, everything wanting to his way not caring about other people feelings at first but changeeed later on in the story.

Moving story shortly:

The story goes on with the ML treating FL's needs and giving her a lot of money because the ML will never forget that FL was his PayPal card at first which gave him the chance to have a high standing and make a lot of money but he treats her indifferently or cold because he is disgusted that FL isn't an intelligent person by not having done school/college etc or "not on the same standing as him". The ML lives on with his adulterous life but then something shocking happens! the FL started to feel unwell for some time and realizes later on that she has brain cancer just like her father. FL tells only her only friend Xuan Bai and keeps it hidden for some time. Then FL loses consciousness at a party and then wakes up in her own bed. The ML finds out and then regrets and tries to repent by trying to mend his mistakes */* and then at the end he loves her because she loved him undyingly, then FL dies, the end, hope you didn't like it.

It does tell of how ML's "activities" made him feel empty later on but I don't care. I would've preferred for FL to divorce but nono tragedy and drama time with FL's brain cancer. I guess the point is at the end when it should have been said at the beginning of this review.

I don't call FL's ending a happy ending (even though she says it as such if I remember correctly) with her disease being used as a plot to change ML's character by evoking sympathy, pity, and then "lOVe" just because I feel uncomfortable that FL kinda accepted or got used with ML's adultery in the first place, this sinful deed has become forgotten because of the upcoming tragedy plot and then this subject coming up again>

Yes, it does tell of how ML regrets his adulterous activity and then asks FL if she believes him, the FL shooks her head meaning no *but loving you with 0% trust.

ML's sentence: I once believed that love required some form of balance. A balance of capabilities, a balance of intelligence. Because love that could not command mutual appreciation would never be able to last (yes but not mutual appreciation over something bad). Take me and Luo Qing as an example (Second FL who dumped this..) . We are all arrogance people who believe that we have the universe in our grasp. We like playing each other, and even give credit to cunning tricks we pull on each other. We make fun of the world, and are addicted to the lonely feeling of standing at the highest peak. But Si Ying, did you know? Every time I see you, I regret. I regret my s*upid persistence. I truly regret, do you believe me?

FL's sentence: I shook my head, still in his arms.

Excuses and excuses, We LiKy PlayIng EaCh OthER... even kiss in your own house and FL being a spectator unwillingly eye roll*.

The author tried to subconsciously make people accept adultery as a tiny bitsy mistake and can be forgiven so easily, this is only my opinion of what I understood in this novel. For me, it's unacceptable forever, a marriage is forever within two persons, a man, and a woman, even in a marriage of convenience.

Yup, I'm outta here. Again another FL who reaped what she sows.

At this you will hate ML even more. He kissed his first love in the presence of his wife at their own home. I wanted to kill this man at this point.

When he later knew that she was gonna die, he started treating her better. But he still is a scum.

He justified his action of playing with other women to his wife by saying something like I yearned for adrenaline rush which you couldn't provide me, when I am with those women (his first love and other women), I feel relaxed.

ML has a big hole in his brain thinking its ok doing this.

Actually I kind of a bit hoping for her to run away and die silently. Hahaha.

I will not even talk much about the ML, the obvious not faithful man to her wife kind. Betrayed MC big time so very shamelessly. He's not fixing his nature at all and shamelessly honest to having affair till last act. He just be nicer and caring to MC after knew the illness. IMO. That's it. Skip. Skip. Lol.

If I read tragedy, I will act as the reader from the good person pov, aka MC in this story--Just to help me going through the moments, when I want to make all the the third affair and all those not good friends of ML in the story disappeared--Because I know at the end the good person will have the nicest way out. At least psychologically.

There is character growth on the side of the ML. With the MC, don't expect her to change and be a strong-willed person. What is wonderful about her is that her love is steady and seemimgly unconditional. Of course, she has very low self-esteem but her strong point comes from loving people. If the guy is good at business matters, the girl is the opposite; she's the kind whose strength lies in the simple things in life like taking care of the household and being there for your lover/family/friends—with that she won't quit (even if it became toxic sadly). She has always put herself in a place of inferiority and those she loves in a high shelf that she honestly can't see her good parts (and married the horrible ML who also reinforced that type of thinking). But I loved how selfless she was especially in the end.

The ML who couldn't rationally appreciate the MC at first was still moved by her. Because in fact, she compliments him well. The parts he lacked, she had them— the simplicity, the laughter, the emotional support. In fact, I would say that the ML should have admired the MC the same way MC admired him; he was just too stuck-up on his own ideals of his world. In the end, the MC gave him refuge from a too business-minded life as she supported him quietly. There was the question if the ML loved the MC, and that is up to you to decide, but I believe the ML is not someone who would say I love you out of pity, he is too candid and brash. He even admitted at first he was not sure if it was pity or love, which means he had thought of the matter before he was sure enough to tell her. Plus his initial idea of love was too limiting or archaic, it's not as if he couldn't appreciate the MC just because she isn't good at earning money like him or lives in the same socialite world as him. He was just too arrogant, and she was too humble so there goes a healthy rel. But in the end, they mutually loved each other and that, for me, is what made it tragic and beautiful.

Ah just a tiny bit of warning: there are outdated ideas of a man and a woman and blah blah their type is blah blah. As if. Hahaha condescending but that's their worldview.

And yup, the guy was cheating (not to paint the guy as if he didn't do anything wrong) but he was not cheating out of a betrayal of their love, since there was none of that from the start. It would be so much worse, in my opinion, if they had been in love and he realized it and still chose to betray his own heart and her trust. Him cheating is a way to show the ML's worldview and highlight the MC's tragedy in the marriage. I treated it as a plot device so I'm sorry I didn't really care a lot about that since I focused on the tragedy. Decided to review it coz of the ratings.

MC is the only daughter of her rich father, ML married her for money but treated her like tr*sh after her father passed away. MC's friend always tried to protect MC but obviously that brain dead MC didn't take her seriously because she is "madly in love" with her cheater husband. MC gets terminally ill so ML regrets and takes care of her out of guilt although author tries to glorify it as "love". At the end MC dies in the arms of ML as she wishes. End of the story, but I feel like soon that ML will definitely find some new chick as his next adventure

- immediately filed for divorce once she got the dx

- partnered w/ his business rival to try and take as much of his assets as she can and make it hers for the divorce proceedings, then give the $$ to her friends and donate the rest to multiple charities abroad so he can’t reach them

- w/ the leftover money she will use to make the end of her life comfortable, she will go to bars and spend $$ on drinks & hook up w/ as many handsome men as she can find

- hire people to kidnap him and take him to a remote location and tie him to a chair, make him watch MC do the deed w/ a man or multiple men

- gather as much evidence of his infidelity as she can and release it to tabloids to kill his reputation

- plant s*x workers at business dinners and pay them to take pics of him, give the censored version to the media and take testimonies of the s*x workers

- hire someone to set fire to his villa and destroy his cars

- illegally wipe out w/e money he has in his accounts and disperse them to dozens of offshore accounts w/ different passwords to make it hard for him to collect all of the money

- spend her last days in the hospital w/ her friends and a middle finger to ML

i don’t know what else to add but there ya go, a satisfying, dog blood version of the novel
